Sunday morning before church, cup of coffee. and a TUBALCAIN video, I'm in an earthly heaven. - Yeah, we repainted a few Earl Schibe paint jobs, when I worked in my Father-in-laws body shop. We had to charge extra for those. - A BRASS hammer and transfer punch mechanic. - I noticed your KBC coffee thermos. - I thought that line was a little close to your bolts. - If you plug that hole in the top of the vise and install a TUBALCAIN label, that would make it look better. My first thought was to install a ball oiler in the hole. - Another great video. Now I'll have another cup of coffee and wait for church, and your next video! Sorry if my comments are too long. I just feel like I'm having a conversation with a friend.

I have restored two 6" Bridgeport milling vises. The left hand thread brass cylinder nuts are available at McMaster Carr for around $30. I sand blasted them instead of wire brushing just because it was faster and easier. I made new jaws using O-1 tool steel, but didn't harden them. If they wear out I will make another set and harden them next time. In a hobby environment, they really don't take much abuse. I've thought about making both aluminum and Delrin jaws, but have never gotten around to it. Machining the "V" grooves in your vise jaws was a nice touch. I didn't think of that. As always, I love your work. Thank you!

So useful to see what you do & what you don't as I have a tendency to try & fix everything causing me to get so focused on something that doesn't matter such that the whole job drags on to the bad lands of never finished. Thank you for all you give.

I found the demonstration of the error caused by the vice interesting. Which then begs the question, if there is that much error how did machinists get past that error when that was the only vice available at the time? I know that tolerances have tightened up over time, I once worked as a draftsman with a well known hydraulic pump and motor manufacturer and their tolerances were beyond my understanding having come from a well known motor home manufacturer. This was in 1972/73 and I can only imagine the level of tolerance today is way beyond what we specified on our drawings then. Great video Mr. Pete, I love watching your videos.
