Nowadays you don't need to wait long to find balenciaga items on sale and they're in such abundance that its really skewing the image of the brand itself. The fact that some of the fabric quality is mediocre and its lack of longevity really hurts the brand too, on top of the ridiculously inflated price ofcourse! That said I still enjoy picking up a piece or two of their denim pants, leathers, after all no one does baggy pants like they do.
Hi, so I would really consider ya'll to prolly stay with Streetwear. The research on this video has been lackluster to say the least. Many little things were either ignored (like cristobals actual rise to the Brand balenciaga, him having multiple Brands before that all failed) or that Alexander Wang didn't do the Speedtrainer, and even if, demna still did the silhouette first back in his vetements days. Even when it's all opinion in the end. The level of disrespect to Demna and Balenciaga in the end was just unnecessary. At some point it was just straight up hating and justifying it buy "look how ugly that is" is not a good reason. Going more into the reason why you think it's ugly, but also considering the people who think it's not into more detail would have been way better. It felt like you were saying that people who think this is trash are normal thinking human beings and the ones who enjoy it are dumb people with no taste whatsoever. "Just ugly clothes to sell them to people with questionable taste" ....what? Have ya'll even heard of Avant-Garde in general? A lot of other Brands like Rick Owens and even Vivienne Westwood who was mentioned in this video fully admit or dabble into Avant Garde fashion which is just "weird" and experimental clothing. Thats the whole point. Neither did Demna invent this style nor is he the only one. I feel like research was very lacking and portration of the whole thing was really bad. No hate. Visually the video is as always stunning but as someone who liked both streetwear and Avant Garde fashion, I need to say that this video from you has been a big step down in my opinion.
It's not about research; it's about conclusion. First of all, the Speed Trainer arrived too early to have been a Demna creation, especially since a few months later Alexander Wang released the 'Run Clean' with Adidas, which is literally the Speed Trainer but with boost. The one from Vetements came later, I don't know where you're getting your sources from 🤔 Regarding Cristobal Balenciaga: which brand are you talking about? He was a couturier from the 20th century; it wasn't about 'brands' back then but about a couturier's reputation we're not talking about Clint419 here wtf And for the rest, well, you just proved what I'm saying in the video, it's an elitist response: if you don't like it, it's because you don't understand or you haven't done your research… Or maybe it's because I think Demna is the Orlinski of fashion, creating buzz and clothes for stars? Because strangely, when we talk Avant-garde like Rick Owens, Rei Kawakubo, or CCP, that speaks to me more 🤷♂ The comments are open to let you explain what you like about Balenciaga tho. But you'll excuse me, I'm going to keep talking fashion whether you like it or not 😘
@@RAPIDSVISION About the speedtrainer: So the adidas Run Clean and Vetements sock Sneaker released both around 2017. But if you look at both models you see that the Balenciaga Speedtrainer then its obvious that is it the same shoe as the Vetements Sock sneaker like literally. So even if Wang introduced it to Balenciaga first, then it would've been a rip off of the vetements (since its the same shoe as the vet one) But the speedtrainer released in 2018 and that was already Demna era in Balenciaga. So that is already not the case. Regarding Cristobal. His first boutique was called Cristobal Balenciaga (which is a different entity than today's Balenciaga) which he had in spain. After that he had EISA to get a bigger audience but still very high class (still in spain) but after the whole war thing he had to go to Paris where he named his new couture house just Balenciaga (which is the one were talking about today) And yes sorry, the word "brands" was wrong from me. I should've used more accurate words. For your next statement. Well, the thing is I think you still haven't done enough research to actually understand Demna. Watched no interviews or insider talks about the making of of his coutures. Demna stated multiple times that social media isn't important to him. he doesn't care about that. And if you like Rick Owens and especially CDG then I don't understand how you could be so open and cherish them for what they are about those but not Belanciaga? When it comes to it, all is art and is subjective I get that. But only if you think that its stupid in your vision then it doesn't mean that its an lesser artform. What I like about balenciaga is that it takes simple things and makes it weird and unnatural. Having a slightly dirty hoodie is normal but making it extreme makes it so unnatural that it really catches your eye. Yes obviously I'm a fan of demna duhh. But like other creative directors he is an artist so him growing up in a soviet like country has some impact on what he makes, like seen with many balenci and vetements stuff. I don't like all the stuff he makes, but trying to understand it makes it definitely more interesting if you look into it. Fashion is all about expressing yourself and if you identify the thing you see with yourself then go for it, you don't need to understand it. But sure thing. Do as you please, its your channel, my intend with the comment was never to hate. I just felt like your input about the matter was sadly not very valuable and rather unpolished. Very surface level to the least. But thanks for commenting on my comment and not just neglecting what I said. Shows you have at least interest in what your viewers have to think, what cant be said about many creators on this platform.
Balenciaga Speed Trainer were launched in 2016 but anyway let's not turn this into a fact-checking battle lmao I get what you mean and honnestly I like this type of comment and tbh I troll a bit to fish for them that's how ytb work 👀 But you see, what you liked about Balenciaga is litteraly what I dislike and I said it in video : His trash bag remains just a trash bag, without any pursuit of sophisticated aesthetics behind it, but simply to embody parody or make his design look “unnatural” like you said. Tbh to get that “unnatural” effect I rather go for the leather trompe l’oeil from Bottega Veneta, that already seems more interesting to me However, what you don't mention is that for such a thing to make sense, it relies on the authority claim of "I am Balenciaga," whereas an unknown designer wouldn't have received any recognition for such a creation. This raises the same issue with the so-called contemporary art bullshit of someone selling a blue painting for millions of dollars, benefiting an elite through tax schemes. I could almost venture into a Marxist analysis and talk about a sort of "creative injustice" where Balenciaga's Lay's bag overshadows thousands of more relevant artists. That's why I don't buy into 90% of what he does (just like you, I don't hate everything either). It's not a matter of lacking information or research. Despite his claims of disregarding social media and being anti-capitalist, he works for one of the biggest capitalist predators in the fashion world, sells t-shirts for $400, and creates buzzworthy products on social media for celebrities 🤷♂️ So basically we just don’t have the same fashion/artistic vision, it doesn’t mean you know better than me or I know better than you. I could even stalk Demna for the next 10 years to the point of knowing everything about him and I still wouldn’t like most of his designs
@@RAPIDSVISION I mean yeah, I think you got things to a solid point now where I understand your point of you. I just wanna take the comment bout the speedtrainer back, seems like I was misinformed. Netherheless in the end it’s still taste. I just think the simplifying of balenciaga (which obviously you can’t go through everything in a 10 min video) is just a bit harsh when people who enjoy balenciaga are labelled as bad taste. Just a bit one sided but I guess in the end it doesn’t really matter does it? Glad to have the conversation though
to sum it up, balenciaga is like modern art, some overpriced objective piece of trash which is valued only by people who can't make the difference between quality, taste and price.

Def an underrated channel. Great report and nice work!
We appreciate that bro
It’s basically the us version of their main French channel which is Rapids Crew
Such a high proportion of designer brands these days have followed this business model, but Balenciaga is definitely the worst example.

Demna is copying Rick Owens, Ann Dameulemeester, Gareth Pugh and other designer in the same bubble.. but worse same goes to Virgil
good artists copy great artists steal ☝️
Baalenciaga makes homeless clothes for the rich
