Never seen a toaster oven that turns the upper heating element off once it reaches baking temperature in the bake mode. I have a modern air fryer toaster oven with a digital control panel. And on that particular unit you can set a specific temperatures for broiling and while it's preheating it will turn on the bottom and burners and then once it reaches temp it will switch to just the top. I'm also guessing your General Electric toaster oven doesn't have a cooling fan to cool off the control panel maybe where it's on the bottom and heat rises it's not as much of an issue.
A good performer. Functionally a decent oven from that time period but in this chassis its really about the over the top tech of the day. A nice condition 1000 works just fine but lacks the impressive electronics. Thanks.
