girl is gonna have the cleanest rear end on the block!
Charmin is gonna have to come and sponsor your boy
Looking to do this job over the Christmas holiday! My e46 is definitely a lot worse than yours though. Salty roads of Scandinavia make for great rust bucket cars. This vid was helpful in terms of what all the fun I can expect
Haha hey man! Thanks for reaching out, glad you gained something from my video 👍 did you start the project yet? Feel free to ask me any questions you may have along the way. Cheers!
fantastic video
just done mine, fully powder coated and bushes all done, plus inserted the new updated diff case bolts that bmw offer. Also added the welded plates on floor pan. looks so much better. Mine only done 63,000 miles but yours in better condition, we have wet salty roads in the uk to rust everything
Hey Lee, Nice job mate! Regardless, its no easy job! Hope my videos were able to help you some, your car is going to feel completely new afterwards! I may have to look into the updated diff bolts you mention, I have a bit of a clunk still from the diff and the front diff bolt has come loose a few times. Thanks for the tip! Cheers mate!💪
@@joshthebavarian yes check out bolts they are only a few pounds and simple to put in.
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for stopping by! 🤙
Dude, props to you. I wish I knew how to work on a BMW like that.
you can do it, working the E46 platform is easy, IF you have access to a garage and lift on some cases that require it, but mostly the maintenance is not that bad at all. given you get lucky with a good, clean example. My E46 330ci is currently have a dreaded vacuum leaks and possible DISA valve issues etc. but that to be expected in a 21 year old E46. maintenance it soo key.
@LaSaus Thanks! I am going to give it a shot.
Hey Brotha, thanks for dropping by! And mark is right, these cars are really not that bad to work on. You can almost take the car apart using probably just a 10, 13, and 16 mm socket. UA-cam has tons if info and if your ever really lost, look into the Bentley Manual for the E46. Basically the bible. Hope to see you around here in the future, Cheers!
haha yes youre right!I hadnt realized but i pretty much said the same thing. Thanks for holding it down!
Maintenance is everything! Doesn't matter how good your car looks when your broke down on the side of the highway. Cheers mark!
Nice but why didn't you weld reinforcement plates to the subframe? Don't you worry about the subframe cracking?
Whats up Geri ! I did actually weld in plates, and welded up cracks that were present on 2 of the subframe mounting points. All of that + installing an X-brace is covered in another video of mine that you can check out here:

Thanks for dropping by, cheers!!
I’ve just been doing mine as well!! Bushes were a pain!!!
Yes agreed! Haha glad I’m not the only one. My E36 bushing kit was too small for the E46 M rear subframe bushes. Ended up just heating the hell out of them and wacking with a mallet 👍🤘
@@joshthebavarian yeah I stared off trying to drill and saw them out, but in the end the blow torch was out and everything was n fire 😂
@@joshthebavarian great vids! Keep them coming!!
nice work Josh! great video
Hey thank you! It was a lot of work but definitely worth it. Cheers man hope you like the content!
@@joshthebavarian im about to do the same to mine - cant wait for its initial drive
@@BMWarrior1 oh nice dude! Feel free to pop in with any questions you might have 💪 check back once you finish! 🙏
@@joshthebavarian Cheers Josh - just a quick one before i finalise the diff, how were the solid mounts for the diff noise wise? did you get any whine from it? ive done solid aluminium diff bushes with OEM subframe mounts (street car). However im a little cautious on the solid diff mounts incase the diff whine becomes too noisy for the road. Any feedback would help greatly, thanks man
@@BMWarrior1 To be honest the diff bushings didnt make that big of a difference to me with NVH. The ones that DID were the transmission mounts, I put a hard poly in that position and the whine went up considerably! If i were to do it again Id probably leave those stock, while still doing poly everywhere else.
Great video man. How important is the front subframe relative to the rear when we’re talking about “beating on the car”?
Hey man love everything but the beginning where you're telling everybody our secret!!! People need to stop telling everybody they can go get an M3 instead of whatever they bought LOL the fact that they didn't go out and buy an M3 on their own... Is proof enough they shouldn't have one hahaha
LMAO right?! When I see what people drop on some of these cars I think to myself “WHY!?, you could have had an M3 and cash left over!” Lol!! Cheers dude! 🙌🤙🙏
This man made me buy a e46 m3😂😂
You rented the sand blaster? If you did, then for how much?
No I didnt rent it, My neighbor is a biker and has just about every tool possible, and let me use the blaster for a weekend. Keep an eye out for that one dude whos always workin in the garage every weekend. Maybe youll get lucky! haha cheers dude@!
@@joshthebavarian thanks!
bruh an m3 is like 100k here 😪
haha what! No freakin way, where are you from?! I dont care how expensive these cars get, im going to keep driving it until the wheels fall off. No garage queens here!
