I think I read or seen that this pistol went through a 30,000 test with no hiccups or reliability issues. That had my attention ! I might pick one up since my local cabelas has them
I have 2000 rounds through an X. 150 of 124gr NATO. The rest has been 115 grain mystery range ammo. Not one single failure. I bought another X I liked it so much . I’m waiting to see if SAR announces something new at Shot Show. If not, I’m buying a SOCOM.
I got my Socom compact about two weeks ago. I added a green dot sight and a micro comp. Have around 300 rounds so far with no issues. This is my new favorite of all in my collection and my new edc.
@nationalmotorco.9044 I added the Zulisy Otter green dot from Amazon. Decided to give it a shot and I love it and it has held zero with 300 rounds so far.
@nationalmotorco.9044 I used the Zulisy Otter green dot on Amazon. It is a new sight but after the first 300 rounds it held zero perfectly. Comes in under $200 and the dot is nice and crisp.
Hey Thanks for your review! At first I was skeptical because of that ONLY 2 ROUND incident. I decided to take a chance and purchased one socom compact, yesterday at the range I ran 200 rounds 124gr then switched to 115 bulk. In total 1200 rounds in 5 hours. Zero malfunction. Accuracy is amazing, at 20 yards my Mp m2.0 4.25 is a joke because of the difference in ergonomics. What optics should I get around $200 price range on this beast?
Canik and SAR are perfectly fine. The ergos are much better on the SAR though, but the Canik has a better trigger. I would note that the SAR is as reliable as a Glock, but has significantly better ergos, trigger, and sights, out of the box. Aftermarket support is better on the Glock and SAR magazines are pricey because they are only made by SAR.
I am really interested in the SAR9 Gen 3 Compacts. I can't make a decision between the SAR9 Compact SOCOM (this one in this video) and the standard SAR9 Compact Gen 3. The SOCOM compact is about 1.56lbs versus the standard compact at 1.68lbs - makes me wonder if there is less muzzle flip/recoil in the slightly heavier standard compact. Any thoughts on that?
SOCOM Compact is 25oz, 1.8oz lighter than sar9gen3 but the SOCOM also has 15+1 & 21+1 mags included. The barrel length on SOCOM barrel js .7” longer too. Tough choice. I haven’t shot the gen3 and the SOCOM was manageable and accurate.
Just go with socom compact with threaded barrel and order a 4 inch gen 3 barrel at the same time. That’s what I did and I swapped barrels at the range. Socom compact with threaded barrel literally is way more accurate then my Glock 19 and m&p m2.0 4 inch EDC. Just make sure to break in with 124 gr nato ammo at around 300 rounds. As of today 124 nato ammo at academy going for 24 cents per.
@@michaelbrohl1625 You are actually right, I added SAR9 CX and SAR9 sport to my collection with 115 all day. Sport is brutal at accuracy for me but not for EDC for my body size. CX is my shining star at 20 yards. For my experience, CX sights are perfect since they are low, Socom is excellent however I have the same issue with my m&p m2.0 which is high sights. I am way above average but way below a pro. By the way I am not a red dot person.
@@ccoop2416 doesn’t come with the optic. Optic plate is not a wrench application. The guy that commented that it might be for the threaded barrel could the on to something. Mine isn’t threaded.
I own a few Sar pistol. Will not buy another one. The aftermarket sucks from this company. The pistol is reliable, but this dude is really trying to overhype this thing. They are just OK pistols.
Any 9mm is not more than just OK as the accuracy is never the prime point. I have two SAR9: gen 3 full size and gen 1 compact. Both are good in all regards. I also have several other striker fired: STK100, APX A1, PX9 Gen3 Tactical. All of them shoot well, and I cannot tell which one is better. I also have all steel CZs and Tanfoglios among other hammer fired, which naturally shoot better, mostly because of the weight. As for accuracy alone, nothing comes close to target .22 such as Pardini or Hämmerli, but that is a different genre.
It is compact, I put mine side by side with my Glock 19 and m&p m2.0 4inch (except for the threaded barrel which I prefer for accuracy) you get the body of a compact with 4.7 inch barrel

This is an excellent pistol! Gonna break it out again on the range again this weekend.
Great review, bro!
The wrench is for the threaded barrel thread protector.
@@Mastermech83 thanks - I don’t have the threaded barrel, hence the confusion.

@MudLakeRanch I guess they just use the same bag of stuff for both versions, just change the magazine size.

That gun is not a COMPACT....
I agree. It is a little larger than the usual definition of a compact handgun, but it is smaller than their full size SOCOM.
