Keep doing the right stuff and staying on the right path and one day you will look over and see she is already along your side heading the same direction with the same core values. Nice guys do have to put themselves out there, but not in the way of the world tells you to in the way you know you’re supposed to. Put yourself out there with your interest and faith by volunteering and connecting at church and in the community.

Yep. Lived it for 3 months (roughly), when I was younger. Got together with a girl who I knew in high school who flirted with me constantly in school (read: toyed with me). She'd had a string of toxic relationships for 10 years, and 'was ready to settle down with a nice guy'.
Except her version of 'settle down' was move in with me rent free, but then take off with her exes whenever she felt like it for weeks at a time.
When she was at home, she sat on her computer, barely speaking to me.
When I finally had enough and gave her the flick, I was apparently 'not the nice guy I thought I was'.
I told her I was a good guy, not a 'nice guy', and there was a distinct difference she was about to find out about when I threw her crap out on the front nature strip.
Was a good life lesson for me, though painful at the time. I met my future wife soon afterward - a very good woman, and mother of my daughter. We've been married 10 years now.

The second I broke up with her, in a totally calm manner mind you, she called 911 and did the whole "he's abusing me" thing "... ah well... you see it's emotional not physical... yeah trust me bro" She got restraining order and got me kicked out of my own house for 3+ months while courts and the police struggled to figure out how to carry out an eviction. Your innocence will not save you, it will only slightly lessen the impact. Never trust. Don't move in unless you're married. In NY if someone stays at your house for more than 30 days they technically live there and you can't ask them to leave. And the family court judges are just as anti-male as you've heard they are.

This is one of the saddest documentaries I’ve seen. It reminds me of my friend, who is in complete denial of dating toxic women. One woman he dated brought a bottle of Jack Daniels to his business, dropped it from the second store balcony, and was acting like a complete baboon. He stayed with her for months after that. Another woman he dated treated him like an emotional tampon until her “ex-boyfriend“ came back to town, and she dumped him. Another one that he dated had the habit of cheating with boyfriends from our friend group. Another girl that he dated ghosted him after he spent hundreds of dollars taking her out to a concert dinner and drinks. When I brought it up to him it was like I was talking a different language.

Speaking from self experience, I’ve been through this. And in my experience. she was unfaithful, very abusive towards both the kids and me. I was so naïve back then I kept putting up with her shit and now I stay single and avoid women that want a relationship. It sucks being alone sometimes, but at least the kids and I don’t have to worry about being in a situation like that anymore.
