Having owned both Heritage and Gibson's over many years will say they both have had their ups and downs with QC. Heritage less so but there were a few "meh" years. Can say owning a newly owned 2019 Gibson Les Paul 50's Standard and a 2020 Limited Edition Heritage H-150. Both are very good guitars yet the one that calls me to play it more and have fallen in Love with is the heritage. Could get into all the specs and why the H-150 is better but that anyone can find out for themself. The Heritage plays like butter, has better sustain, fit and finish is excellent, even the nut was perfectly cut.
Two items people bring up is the pick guard and the headstock. Agree, at first wasn't sure I liked the pickguard shape, after all Gibson set the standard and that look seams right. However, up close and personal, the Heritage H-150 pickguard looks, and feels great, even better quality and a finished by hand quality instead of a cookie cutter cut out like the Gibson. The Headstock, true the Gibson looks way better, you'll get over it quicker than you'll ever believe. Having the guitar play so well and stay in tune, is well worth it. We all know the H-150 headstock is a better design for a "Player"!! Purchasing to play a bit and hang on the wall to appreciate it like art, buy the Gibson. If you PLAY, try the Heritage for a couple of days to a week, play both side by side. Bet after a short time it's the H-150 you'll grab. there is a lot to be said for a Guitar that stays in tune. even with a lot of bends.
Am a fan of both companies, got my first Gibson in 1977 and in no way a hater. Simply saying to anyone in the market for a LP Standard. Do yourself a favor, check out the Heritage (with open mind and for more than five minutes) , try and play both if ya can back to back. You may be surprised. Cheers!

Thanks for your sharing your experience with both guitars! Very much appreciated! Playability is the #1 priority. Regarding the headstock, no one will see me playing at home and judge me! I already have another brands' 3+3 headstock and use a string butler or db Instruments TruGlide to help with turning stability! I hate going out of tune with bends. So I know folks would hate on it if used on a Gibson! LOL!

Can a 2000$ Heritage compete with Gibson Customs? I tried an early custom from a friend of mine and it feels and sounds very good. I fell in love, i just don't want to spend so.much on a guitar. At least not on a guitar i plan to play daily and even play some gigs.

    • @dlewtweentorla1210
      @dlewtweentorla1210 2 роки тому +1

@@biohazard8295 That is. Loaded question! Why? Because a Gibson Custom is going to Start over 4 K and can work way higher from there. Your friend's could be worth anywhere say from 4-8k (being moderate). If it were a Gibson Custom Shop model similar prices apply if not more. Depending on year , model , Historic, relic job , Murphy Lab, etc.
However say it is not a real fancy LP out of the Custom Shop (including LP Customs). At the price range say around 5k ish. Still wouldn't have a Long Neck tenon. Should be a darn nice guitar still. This is usually a model that would be compared on UA-cam against a Heritage H-150 (crazy as the price point of the Heritage is the same as the Les Paul Standard ,both a bit over $2500 bucks). You never see the LP Standard vs the Heritage H-150 compared, nuts since both are similar priced. Asked a chanel once why they only compare the H-150 vs Custom Shop LP's, the answer back was " that wouldn't be a fair comparison". Personally don't understand how comparing a guitar twice the price is fair!! Basically shows they Heritage is a better guitar for the cash. However a Custom Shop LP can be a Gorgeous playing guitar, as it should be fir the cash. A Custom is different though , construction has binding on the back , ebony fretboard (well should be) and do have a different feel, on the Heritage side of things you'd be looking at a H-157. Or if looking something a bit higher priced and a killer playing guitar look at the Heritage Custom Core. Based mostly on 59 specs and are still priced less than a LP Custom Shop.
As I said loaded question. Going to depend on what price you wanna pay, model you want and what feels and sounds good to you. Go play a few of each brand's models that appeal to ya and fit your budget
      Cheers

Since you can buy a mint used Custom Core Heritage for not much more than a LP Standard I don’t understand why more people aren’t playing them. The standard H150 will hang with a Custom Shop “G” branded LP and the Custom Core models are amazing. I know some people like the pickups on a LP but I actually prefer the clear articulate Heritage pickups but it’s so easy to put whatever flavor of pickup you like in.

Amazing construction…yes the dots are slightly off and I don’t care, lol (they are even slightly translucent under the light, similar to original G’s tortoiseshell dots back in the day!) So many details that not even Heritage display’s on their site. If you want an LP style made from the same area, many of the same sourced woods and details as the ones that made music history…get yourself a Heritage! 🤘🏻

Apparently Les Paul himself said people ( audience) listen also with their eyes. And then he proceeded to improve looks of his first solid body ‘Log’ guitar. That’s why I think Heritage should change their looks destroying headstock.( it’s way too long) I’m pretty sure they would immediately become much more popular. The only way you can have a decision on buying a Gibson or Heritage is to play them both, full stop. What you're looking for and what feels and sounds better for you. One is not better than the other, only the one that's better for you. Here is the other important trick, play and play the guitar a lot. You will get used to it. If it's a thick, medium, or slim neck, play it. you will get used to it. I personally prefer the thick necks, but I do own medium and slim neck guitars too. It's all a feeling and mood. I like all my guitars to be different. I just purchased a Gibson Custom Shop R8 and will be looking for a Heritage one day. Hell, buy them both if you can. I've always owned Gibson but that won't take away if another brand is good, it's good.

Where knowing root and comprised with the shape will tell you the finer point of the chord. Just a bit of something here and there. I can't wait to get one made. That's something I'll never understand. Do you want to buy a guitar you will play and enjoy, which will give you an enjoyable experience, or do you wanna buy an investment? Because I've got bad news, invest in stocks and precious metals, or even the crypto thing if that's your stuff, a guitar is an instrument, and it's a bit silly to think about that. With high-end guitars you're not losing that much compared with other brands. Buy the best guitar and play the hell out of it, forget the "investment" craziness. It's an instrument, not a bar of gold.

    • @briandevitt6903

@@mateuszt6498 I never mentioned investment. An investment is something you do to make money. I wouldn't buy a guitar to make money. Where I live a Gibson is an easier sell second hand and you take a smaller hit IF you decide to sell it. Just because you dont understand it doesn't mean its wrong, its just a different opinion. If I were spending that kind of cash on a guitar I'd try a heap of them and buy the one I liked best but I'd keep in mind that certain makes are easier to sell secondhand should that situation happen. A mate spent fairly big on a G&L and needs to sell it for financial reasons, he can't shift it without a taking a large hit on what he paid.

I really hate all the hate Gibson gets. There’s a real tendency to pile on, when realistically, fender guitars ship with all the exact same qc issues. The fundamental difference becomes, that fender guitars with scratches and nicks are “relic.” Gibsons with scuffs are ruined. 🙄

if a Gibson costs 3 times what a Fender does.. I'd expect close to the same ration in Quality Difference.. it's not there....get real. Todays Gibsons are more MACHINE ( CNC etc ) made than before so there is LESS hand labor than ever before.. yet the price keeps jumping.. um.....

      Seen by who?
~90% of your audience wouldn't recognise one brand from another, let alone the nuances of history. They're there for the music.
Of the ~10% who do know something at all about guitars, ~5% are knowledgeable enough nerds to know who Heritage are, and ~5% will be the new kids who don't know enough yet.
So you're worrying about being seen playing a guitar that only 5% of your audience will (wrongly, through lack of knowledge) think poorly of you. How insecure is that.
