Omg! I have the same year GMC Yukon and this happened to me today!! I luckily was home and my shifter was moving freely but car was showing it was in drive! I couldn't turn it back on. I let it roll out of the garage so I would have space if a tow truck needed to come but then I found your video! You were spot on! I got the part for $12.99 and it probably took me 15-20 minutes to put it on. I had a hard time getting the little white piece to pop in properly but I finally got it and pushed it onto the post and voila!!!! I can't believe this little plastic part plays such an important role in the shifting of this giant vehicle! I'm a 56 year-old mom and wife and am pretty happy about this easy and inexpensive fix especially since we are taking the car on vacation tomorrow! Thank you!!!!!

This was a life saver today when my Suburban went into park fine at Walmart and when I came out … the shifter was slipping up and down and wouldn’t go into gear. My oldest son watched your video and is fixing this now. It looks like it was the bushing kit we needed. Thanks!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

This is exactly what happened to me. I thankfully found this video right away, looked under the vehicle and sure enough that's all it was. Took me about five minutes to remove the old brittle cracked one and put the new one in. It was a bit of work to get the new one in, and I used a screwdriver gently as well to coax it in to place. Mine wasn't hanging down because it didn't have a chain entangled so I had to find the area first. It was off but still tucked up out of clear sight from just looking under the Yukon quickly. But sliding under the vehicle it was easy to see.

Nice video, this is the third time in 2 years, yes I cleaned up the linkage shaft and everything else. Excellent demo, Will! I've never seen that done before, it's fun to understand the options. I wondered if that D shaped plastic ring out the back was there to allow one to put some kind of safety clip or zip tie onto it to prevent if from coming off. In any case, as you know those things are really tight and normally very hard to remove.

Awesome thank you. I'm in a different country (central America) in the mountains, and that feeling when your truck won't shift is a very unsettling feeling. Thankfully I'm only missing the little plastic bushing. Got some wire and wrapped it up maybe better than stock! I'm in a 2010 Z71 suburban and same exact area if anyone else is looking. Now to try and find the actual plastic bushing 😅

To make it easier to put the bushing through the cable, put the bushing in microwaved/boiled water for 3-5 minutes. I don't suggest boiling it. May make it too soft and deform it.

You helped me identify correct part #14104. Sanding, filing, lubing the lever nipple is important since corrosion on the nipple is what wears out the bushing. New subscriber today!

Hoping it’s the drive shaft and not the transmission but momma is rusty. Give me pre 2000 and I’m good in the hood with the carbs too.
