There's other options. Alpinestar's made in China. The jacket is only $200 in the U.S.. The factory that produces that jacket, produces the same jacket with a different name, same thing. That Alpinestar jacket in PH is less than $80. Order through Temu. Have 2 Temu accounts, one in PH, one in U.S.. The prices gouged in the U.S. is simply thievery. India, PH, Thailand the same gear is 1/2 to 1/3 the price.
To note, the quality control and standards to the U.S. is slightly better, i.e., when I order to the Philippines, we get the American standard, but the PH price. Simply, the same materials and factory produce the same jacket without the logo.

I was a despatch rider in London in the 80s and up to the mid 90s. Riding 100+ miles a day 5 days a week, mostly in the city and west end. I’m afraid to say I got terribly blasé about it. On a really hot day I would go out in shorts, trainers, and a vest and an open face helmet that I didn’t even bother strapping on if I was on a multi drop and had to keep removing it. Admittedly, I was rarely exceeding 40mph but I would do out of town work a few times a week. Thinking back I must have been crazy !!

I wear a water gel vest under my leather jacket with leather pants boots and gloves. Keeps me cool even in the 105 degrees Sacramento heat. The water vest is great because I can wear it underneath all of my other gear. I can ride all day in the heat with the cooling vest. It cools just by the airflow through my leathers which are fully armored MotoGP type leather racing jackets.

Great advice. I see guys on Harley touring bikes here in south western Ontario ride in t shirts, shorts and sandals. That’s crazy. A few seasons ago I purchased a Gryphon mesh jacket and love it. A bit hot when I drove down to Arkansas last year. Tried a cooling vest underneath but they get pretty heavy when loaded up with water. And you’re right in saying your cooler covered that exposed to the sun.

I use a cooling vest with detachable long sleeves and a nehru collar. I have found that it still works very well if you roll it up & squeeze it firmly in a towel after soaking for at least 5 minutes. The moderate wringing greatly reduces the weight.

I only wear a jacket if it is too cold to ride in a t shirt. I also only wear gloves if it is too cold. I do wear a white full face helmet and 6" steel toe work boots. Other than that it's Walmart jeans and t shirts.

Great looking jacket....too bad they don't make them for us tall guys with long arms. Riding jackets especially need longer sleeves because of the shortening effect of having your arms reaching out in front you. If you have any pull with Alpinestar please suggest they consider Tall sizes.....there's a whole market that they are ignoring. Tall should add a full 2" to the sleeve. Thanks.

I've had two bad wipeouts. One I had a t-shirt on and I shot out through a field and hit a briar Thicket. I was running 75 mph and that Briar Thicket probably saved my life but I was picking Breyers out of my butt 3 months later. My next crash was 10 years later in 2000. It was February and I was suited up. I had on padded shoulders elbows and everything. Thick insulated pants and coat. It was 35° when I left that morning and I'm not sure what the temperature was that evening as I was coming home from work but I saw a car start to pull out in front of me and I know I was going to hit him the second I saw him pulling out. I hit the brakes as hard as I could without sliding and when I got about 10 ft away from the car I jump straight up in the air and flew over the car while my bike hit the car. I just had a bruised shoulder out of that one, but it did 6,500 damage to a 1999 Honda Magna 750. That bike was never the same again. I quit riding shortly after that and just got started back this past June. I believe God intervened in both of those crashes just like he has and everything in my life. I believe you do what feels right for you but I know fear doesn't make you live any longer. Fear just takes away from your life. It gets freaking hot in North Carolina in the summer and I usually wear a tank tops. I tried to pray everyday before I get on that bike and I've had some close calls. I'm lucky I survived going to Myrtle Beach back in June. People drive like maniacs out there and I had several people try to pull in front of me but I was going pretty slow and I had time to stop. Why people like to go to Myrtle Beach and ride up and down the strip I do not know. It's just stop and go and stop and go and stop and go.

Another great video Ryan! I am definitely in your camp regarding wearing a mesh Jacket vs T-Shirt. The evaporative cooling that occurs is fantastic when moving! I do some adventure riding so I am using my Klim Baja jacket and pants since I already owned the outfit. Otherwise I would definitely consider what Alpinestars has at a much more affordable price. The Klim gear is way over priced but seems to be of good quality. One question, I don't use a base layer other than a T-Shirt under my Jacket. Does the base layer help with better evaporative cooling when moving? As you said when you stop just take the jacket off as it will definitely be hotter than standing around in a T-Shirt. My concern is that the long sleeve base layer will cook me when I am at a stop with my jacket off. What has your experience been? BTW - Just got back to CA from a 4,315 mile trip to Sturgis in my mesh gear. Crossed Nevada and Utah on HWY 50 (The loneliest Highway In America) It was well into triple digits and the mesh gear did great! I convinced my buddy to get a Mesh Jacket and he is now a believer as well.

Thanks for watching. YES, the base layer is amazing. I know it's counterintuitive to think about. A base layer? won't I be hotter? Its so strange. Once you try it you'll understand. As soon as you move, you get a cool feeling all over your skin. That's what it's made to do. And, it holds in your moisture, so you don't just lose it all. The gear in the video I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Best I've ever used. Racers us it under their leather suits. And this gear offers muscle support along with cooling. Hope that helps. ==> shop.lawabidingbiker.com/collections/alpinestars-base-layer

Good morning 🌅, at the age of twenty , I was riding my Norton dominator chopper, at the time I was wearing a thin nylon jacket, and I hit a serious bump which threw me off the road, Broke my leg arm and seriously cut my body up, I’m now in my 70s, even to this day, I still bare some scars, I was out yesterday riding my softail deuce, along a motorway around the Limoge France, where I saw a couple riding a motorcycle, he just had a power shorts on and a T-shirt, is female partner et cetera on the back, was just wearing a shortpair of shorts, I think a tank Top, she might as well just been wearing a bra, they were wearing crash helmets, you could imagine what was going to happen if they came off the, I always ride with a thick power of jeans, and my leather jacket, my crush helmet and gloves, even in the blistering heat 39° I believe that day, ride safe, ps I think they should be prosecuted

The T XP S SuperAir jacket, and the Mid Layer jacket, and the the Tech 2 Underwear, all "sounds great!" But "What Country are we FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING" when we buy one of these products?"
    AMERICA?
OR, are we FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING a country that is a KNOWN ENEMY of OUR Country?
FACT: EVERY TIME that we BUY something that is "MADE IN" a Country that HATES AMERICA and wants to DESTROY AMERICA and/or TAKE OVER AMERICA, we are FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING OUR ENEMIES!
Because EVERY TIME that we BUY something new, from ANYONE... the Sellers & the Manufacturers, & the Government of the Country that it is "MADE IN" "MAKES A PROFIT" off of EVERYTHING they SELL to us!
So, it's also a FACT that when you BUY something "MADE IN AMERICA" you are FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING YOUR OWN Country, YOUR OWN JOB & YOUR neighbors JOBS, and YOUR OWN Countries ECONOMY! YOU help YOUR OWN Country's Economy to PROSPER!
Which means that it's also a FACT that when you BUY something that is "MADE IN" ONE of the Country's that HATE AMERICA and want to see AMERICA FALL (i.e., China, Mexico, Pakistan, Venezuela, Bangladesh, Cuba, etc., Etc., Etcetera) YOU ARE FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING YOUR OWN ENEMIES! YOU are FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING your ENEMIES and helping their Economy to PROSPER!
Like it OR NOT... that is the FACT of "Buying ANYTHING from ANYONE!"
When you BUY FROM YOUR ENEMIES, YOU ARE FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING YOUR OWN ENEMIES!
When you BUY FROM YOUR OWN Country, YOU ARE FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING YOUR OWN COUNTRY!
