I kinda hate and love this song, it's got a special memory. I'm from India and I've heard many Western songs coz of my Dad..the first time the lyrics of this song sunk in was at a bar back in 2009, my friend had invited me and they were singing out loud when this song played. 2 years later my friend who invited me died in a car crash with his wife, he was just 25 and married for 3 months. Every time I hear this song I think of him. He was the purest soul. I miss you Sam
It will evolve & soften. Someday, it likely will make you grateful to have a random reminder of your friend, perhaps when you really need it. Wishing you peace & many wonderful memories to recall ☮
Syd somehow managed to show up in the studio as one take was being performed, but left before they finished. When David Gilmour learned that he had missed meeting him, he burst into tears. CORRECTION: vernonbear points out that the song of which I was thinking was “Shine On, You Crazy Diamond.” So, let ME say: “Never mind.” *grins sheepishly*
Lyrics written by Waters, he says it was written about himself, introspection and seeking himself. Gilmour did say it always reminded him of Syd whenever they played it but Gilmour wrote the tune not the lyrics. The track that was written about Syd and that he turned up in the studio (in an almost unrecognisable state) is Shine On You Crazy Diamond.
@@richardletaw4068 The story I heard was that the band saw a fat and bold man at some point in the studio and they thought he was a guy from the record company Then they realized he was indeed Syd Barrett and Roger Waters bursted into tears with sadness. Story says they were precisely recording Shine on you crazy diamond at this time.
"Did you exchange A walk-on part in the war For a lead role in a cage" Some of the most profound lyrics I've ever heard & a question we all need to ask ourselves at some point in life.
If I were there with you, Heaven would come down to Earth! And yes, in spirit and soul I am there with you! But, anyway, through your music and talent you take us to Heaven! Wonderful! Be blessed! 😇🫂🥰🎼🙏
My Brothers, my wife and I we're blessed to spend a month on Jaffa St. in '19. We had an utterly tremendous time in Jerusalem, riding the Tram seen in your vids! Your music is amazing, truly anointed by Yah, B'rachot!!
These brothers are magic, yet another brilliant and favourite song played soooo good, come play the streets in Scotland guys you'd love the reaction you'd get
Wish You Were Here J'aurais aimé que tu sois là So, so you think you can tell Alors, alors tu penses que tu peux distinguer Heaven from Hell Le paradis de l'enfer Blue skies from pain Le ciel bleu de la douleur Can you tell a green field Peux-tu distinguer un champ tout vert From a cold steel rail ? D'un rail d'acier froid ? A smile from a veil ? Un sourire d'un voile ? Do you think you can tell ? Penses-tu que tu le peux ? And did they get you to trade Et ont-ils réussi à te faire échanger Your hero's for ghosts ? Tes héros contre des fantômes ? Hot ashes for trees ? Des cendres chaudes contre des arbres ? Hot air for a cool breeze ? De l'air chaud contre une fraîche brise ? Cold comfort for change ? Un confort froid pour quelques pièces ? And did you exchange Et as-tu échangé A walk on part in the war Un rôle de figurant dans la guerre For a lead role in a cage ? Contre un premier rôle dans une cage ? How I wish, how I wish you were here Comme j'aurais aimé, comme j'aurais aimé que tu sois là We're just two lost souls Nous ne sommes que deux âmes perdues Swimming in a fish bowl Nageant dans un aquarium Year after year Année après année Running over the same old ground Courant sur la même terre usée What have we found ? Qu'avons-nous trouvé ? The same old fears Les mêmes vieilles peurs Wish you were here J'aurais aimé que tu sois là
Well, what can I say ... I've seen Pink Floyd live, and this cover of 'Wish You Were Here' is brilliant. I'm definitely going to go through everything you gents have done. Amazing to think you're doing this on the street rather than some bells n whistles production. Thanks again Gentlemen, keep it up PLEASE 🎸⭐
And more Pink Floyd.. 👍 "DOGS" or "Echoes" 🙏🙏 😬 And I'm talkin the 17 minutes, and the 23 minutes long versions Lol. I love their vibe. They are Dope for real.
Yo, Somebody PLEASE tell me who these guys are.🤔😀 They are realing out there doin it like that.!?? And most people just WALKING BY😲 like nothin!? Theres no way I could not stop and listen to their whole set list.. 😎🔁 I dont know what country this is in, and how many English speaking people live there, by I assume the majority of people passing by, don't know that there are some really deep lyrics in all them songs they're singing. But even if you dont know the words HOW YALL NOT BOPPIN YOUR HEADS,..? LOL. But my guy on the right is Nice on that Electric though.. 💯 And I can tell that he would be playing more of the guitar Funky Strum Rhythm throughout a couple of these songs in between all those pitch bending riffs hes on. Somebody get this man a basic looper. And they are taking off!! Keep coming with these videos. 😀
Gat Brothers, from Jerusalem, Israel. They're incredible. I think they won some Israeli show (think of America's Got Talent but in Israel), but I'm not sure.
Because they can play other peoples music? Hmmmm. I think you need to reassess what level of talent these guys have. Entertaining yes, but they ain’t breaking any new ground or doing anything astonishing.
That's the funniest comment I've ever read!!! This is a peculiar level of talent to do closely match the subtleties of tone and timber, and some are way underlying the musicianship of these guys. Wow!! I'm a loyal fan and will send links to my entire contact list. ...tied up in a bag!!!! LOL!! THANKS!!!!
It's deeply saddening that my initial reaction upon viewing this is influenced by a profound mistrust, stemming from my inability to reconcile with the atrocities committed in Gaza. Despite this backdrop, these two musicians manage to momentarily divert my attention with their exceptional talent and beautiful music. Their performance is genuinely captivating, and I love what I hear. However, I can't help but be plagued by a persistent question: do they endorse the atrocities, or do they condemn them? I find myself wishing they would perform "Imagine" by John Lennon, as a gesture that could potentially lay my concerns to rest. Shalom from Sweden.

S0 sad. The song is now a remembrance. Thanks for sharing.
Next time I am in Jerusalem I have to seek out this duo. Street performances like this are a delight.
Same!!!
Wow.....if the brothers ever read this---thank you for making our lives a little better while you are playing, even if just for a while...
Beautifully playing great music. Thanks. Make music not war
Remember Sid he was the inspiration for this track RIP

And did you exchange
Et as-tu échangé
A walk on part in the war
Un rôle de figurant dans la guerre
For a lead role in a cage ?
Contre un premier rôle dans une cage ?
How I wish, how I wish you were here
Comme j'aurais aimé, comme j'aurais aimé que tu sois là
We're just two lost souls
Nous ne sommes que deux âmes perdues
Swimming in a fish bowl
Nageant dans un aquarium
Year after year
Année après année
Running over the same old ground
Courant sur la même terre usée
What have we found ?
Qu'avons-nous trouvé ?
The same old fears
Les mêmes vieilles peurs
Wish you were here
J'aurais aimé que tu sois là
