  • Perhaps the set I am most excited for in 2024 is Bloomburrow, a cozy set that features a ton of anthromorphic animals! We haven't seen much of the set so far, but we've seen a few cards that have me extremely hyped!
This deck will feature Bria, Riptide Rogue, a blue and red Otter Rogue that gives all our creatures prowess!

I think Bria is really nifty, but I don't know how I feel about it as the lead singer of a deck like this. I had a deck based around Shu Yun for awhile and it was kind of the same deal... cast a low drop cantrip, get a prowess boost, and give Shu Yun double strike. As you stated in the video, I think the slider will be really tough to balance out... creatures to buff vs noncreatures to engage the buff vs recursion and protection. I would almost like to see a big finisher like Octavia, Living Thesis in the deck to give your creatures some OOMPH once they've been targeted by Bria for unblockable. Turn Bria into an 8/8 with Prowess and can't be blocked, and we're nearly looking at a commander damage finisher.

Nice one! I'm brewing deck myself atm, aiming for more aggro/tempo variant with really cheap and easily casted inst/sorc spells. Felt that way it will be more approachable and avoiding any mana issues. With that, it is pointless for me to play Eris as 90% of my spells are 1-2 mana cost, but I like the different approach you have :) I'm just not used for playing more costly spells and also my playgroup plays too well and optimal for me to actually go big or crazy with combos etc. :D As my friend says - BREAD - Bombs, removal, Evasion, Aggro and Draw (I know it is duds, but we took it our own way xD)

What are your expectations for the upcoming Bloomburrow set? I'm personally hype for the Squirrel-themed Commander precon!

I am very excited for Bria as an Izzet gamer. Not so much as a commander but a really cool piece in the 99 for either My Stella Lee or Narset. Also I think she is kind of redundant with elusive otter but flavor wise is such a good combo

I feel like Frolicking Familiar should be in this deck for both the synergy and also because he's a cute otter.

Nice deck list. Might I recommend Bident of Thassa or Jace’s Sanctum?

I think some of these creatures might get replaced by other cards in Bloomburrow.
There are a few I've seen so far that look really good in this deck.

I think you could cut almost half of the suggested creatures here

Does Bria’s last ability apply to Bria herself? I’m thinking about running her in a commander damage centric deck but want to confirm I understand her rules before going in on cards

Excellent question. You can make her unblockable. The only time an ability like hers wouldn’t be able to target herself, is when it specifies another target creature. So you can pump up Bria and go for Commander damage wins. Would love to see your list when it’s ready!
