Black Market Connections is an absolute must for this deck. Turns a generic card into an absolute synergy machine.
Really like the idea of cutting down on the aristocrat style, while still maintaining it in some small part. It finally ended up making room for some of my own pet cards. If you find you’re still having trouble with draw, ‘Ohran Frostfang’ is an alternative to ‘Toski’ that works well alongside him, and ‘Phyrexian Arena’ has its main downside mitigated by your stores of food.
Very helpful advice for buidling this deck!
I used odd acorn gang to make chitterfang a 43/43 unblockable (thanks to yavimaya) and 1-shot everyone at the table last night:)
i have a couple cards in my deck that can make a token copy of any card if you copy hazel of the rootbloom you can triple the amount of them you have each turn which gets out of hand very quickly without a field clear

well, triumph of the hordes is my weapon of choice. infectious squirrels is legendary.
I really want to make the tribal theme strong.
My only thing with Hazel is, I want some big pays offs for all that big mana she creates.
Something like crypt rats, exsanguinate, etc etc.
On the other hand though having hazel out with nexus on becoming that exiled the myriad squirrel is actually bonkers strong
How do you Get the token engine going for the squirrels? I feel that’s the hardest part of the deck so far.
There are soooooo many token engines that are literally built into the precon including several cards shown here. Pippin is a good example of one but Ymir makes everything food for example

Is it worth playing Ygra without Cauldron Familiar?
You definitely can, since the food synergy lies mostly with Ygra. Cauldron Familiar is mostly there as a combo piece, as you can continue to bring it back. But it is not necessary for the deck to function.
would this deck still work if Chatterfang was Commander instead of Hazel?
Possibly. Hazel makes the tokens into extreme levels of ramp, and Chatterfang produces the tokens. At the end of the day, you’ll likely be able to get the other out of the 99 easily, so these two might be interchangeable.
Mirkwood Bats would be good for this deck.
