My older two sons are in prison. My oldest for 34 months and my middle for 54 months. I have 3 sons and my youngest is so far good and has not been in trouble. It's hard for a Mother to see her children in prison but I do support them and try to keep positive. When I talk to them I tell them the positive things they will have when they get out. This is the first time for both of them to be in prison. I have to say to Jose you gave yourself that chance. Tell yourself thank you because you are the one who made that step for the better. Thank you so much for positive vibes, smiles, and hope. You are what society needs to see. So I will pray for you and I can't wait to share your story with my boys. God bless you!

Jose Flores is the perfect example of don’t judge a book by its cover. He might have tattoos that make him look scary but he’s beautiful on the inside. I’ve never been in jail and I don’t have a single tattoo but I feel connected to him and his struggle. We all need to be better people and learn from each other’s flaws, struggles and mistakes. We are all brothers and sisters, we need to have love for one another. Gob bless the prisoners that are changing their ways and becoming better people. Much love!
Ps. Jose your smile lights up the room, keep shining!

I know some people will feel the way they feel about felons, but knowing some myself, everyone has a situation, and a story we don't know about. I commend these men for turning their lives around. We don't know how much we're truly capable of until we try and believe in ourselves. Life is also precious, we need to be more grateful, and make every moment count.

I did ten years in CDC 94-04. Fortunately I made it out. A year after working a minimum wage job I started my own business. That was 19 years ago. I now employ 33 and have generated well over 50 million dollars. I’m beyond blessed for the opportunity I got when that door opened. But when that door opens, it’s on you to kick it down and work your ass off to scale that opportunity and succeed. Trials will come but it’s the way you navigate your way out of them. I dropped out of school in 7th grade. I gang banged my whole life and the only thing I learned in prison was how to deal with different personalities and patience. Those two traits have got me a long way in business. Seek and you will find that door. Don’t give up be patient you deserve what you put out.

Hearing him speak is inspiring and yet so professionally communicated. I would NEVER guess his face by just hearing him speak and his voice alone. As an educated Hispanic, seeing him and ALL of the others resilience is astonishing... Amazing actually. Why can't this be organized and introduced into more facilities beyond this place? Jose definitely needs to connect and join forces with groups/correctional officials to integrate this type of rehabilitation throughout the US systems!!!!!!!!! @@ahuramazda980 While he himself is a God of second chances, he would expect you to pay for your crimes and serve your sentences. Paul was in prison twice. One time he stayed around to show the guard that he wasn't going to run away. He was a changed man - when he was called Saul, he was persecuting and even killing Christians. God changed his heart. Most serial killers have something wrong in their heads and don't get the help they need. It would never be safe to let them out on the street again. Too many prisoners say "I've found Jesus in here and I'm a changed man now." Jesus would probably say "then finish your time and stop using me as an excuse to try and get out early. I know your heart." If you are remorseful, prove it. Like this man has.

Sensational documentary. This needs to be shown in schools everywhere, better still, get positive minded guys like these who have lived the life, taken responsibility for their actions, recognised the errors of their ways and who are intent on bettering themselves and moving forward, go into schools and impart their wisdom to young people. I'm from Australia & spent over 30 years working with disaffected youth and got so sick and tired of young University educated social & youth justice workers talking to young people about staying out of trouble when their target audience could plainly see that the closest they had ever come to crime and violence was when they logged on to the crime stoppers website.

We reunited after 26 yrs thanks to our daughter finally reaching out to him. 10 yrs ago my husband went into the Seminary program and became a field minister. These programs which turn into jobs really do wonders for our inmates. So many want to change, want to do better but the opportunity isn't there. So I'm so happy more states are introducing these programs.

I spent five years on A-Yard. Sep of 2001 to May 2006. Back then it was called the “Honor Yard,” which was created by a couple of “old school” reformed convicts in the year 2000. There was talk way back then about opening up 5 Block to a dog program. It was a great honor and privilege to be on that yard and away from all of the madness that was going on at that prison and around the system. I was in CDC from 1997 to 2020. It was a long journey, and I learned so much from so many people. And watching this video and seeing Jose, I could see the transformation in him. He definitely deserves another chance. All of those men deserve another chance because they’re giving themselves a chance to be the change that they want to see. “ It’s never too late to start to become the person that you were always meant to be.”

It’s not like this on most main line California yards. Mad props to you fellas for making something out of nothing! I think it took me 3 years to get out of the ptsd from the experience and not be alarmed with people getting close to me or drivers being jerks. It took the same amount of time to take deep breaths again. I’ve been drug free since, and I don’t drink alcohol. I take no medication and I work full time. I provide for my children and I don’t harm myself or anyone else. I found the Lord in prison and I’m never walking away from him. God bless these men. Keep up the good fight!

This is what society wants to see happen in prisons across this country. I am not deluded enough to believe that this works on everyone but when they finally have enough of prison and gang life this should be an opportunity for all inmates. There has got to be hope for them. They need something to work towards. Most are thrown in prison to rot. Some do deserve that but it’s not even the majority. Most can be healed and strive for better. This program is a treasure and should be emulated everywhere. These men are able to give a hug to one another and care about and encourage one another. They even shed some tears with one another. That is the ultimate sign for me of an environment where they can grow and change. Amazing job Jose.

Tears of joy! Please God let all prisons have this program. Their love just shines through. All were eloquent without one curse word. Thank you Josė. And to let you know that many people don’t achieve their PhDs before 50.

This was so humbling to watch. I’m so proud of this man. Brought me to tears, how much he has improved and is aware and is trying to better himself and his fellow inmates and “repaying” he said his debt to society. I hope he finds the most happiness

This is the reformation that more former felons need to discuss. Too many UA-camrs out here who have done a year in prison, acting like they've done 20 years hard time, crying for reform but not changing a thing about themselves. THIS man is such an inspiration.

Definitely need more programs like this....help develop more people like this instead of counting them out because of their past❤ #keepgoing
