Wow, I can't believe it. A huge "tips" video that actually has useful, real tips and not just filler. I'm subscribing.
Thanks a bunch! 🙏🙏
Same! An actual helpful tips and tricks video :)
I'm 8 minutes in and you've changed my life already... THANK YOU!
Daaannng! Love hearing this!
Same boat...so glad I googled "better logic pro workflow."
Totally agree ❤️🎹🎧
Ha yep
@@NathanJamesLarsen super helpful man thanks! I agree w atomic audio
Wow. 🤯 Been using logic for a year and this video showed me I have no idea how to really use logic. I’ll probably rewatch this a few times…excellent!!!
Yo! Thanks! Also... I've definitely watched your channel ;)
Unbelievable. I learned more in thirty five minutes than I would have in one hundred hours of browsing tutorials. Thank you and way to create some solid awesomeness!!!
🙏🙏🙏 love it! Love hearing this - so glad it helped. You're awesome 😎😎
I've been binge watching Logic Pro X videos during quarantine and this is by far the most helpful! Thanks Nathan!
😎🙏🙏🙏 thanks!!
That converting audio into MIDI data tip.... Brooooooo..... Savior move right there. That just opened up a whole new window of thought, thanks! I've been learning Logic on my own over the past 7-8 months, esp during this quarantine, so videos like this have been super helpful. Ok, let me go look at the rest of the tips, lmao.
This video was really really helpful. 43 odd minutes saved literally hours of figuring stuff out and UA-cam.
Thank you so much for this.
My friend, I just started getting into the Audio/Visual Industry, and now I have more free time to focus on creating new tracks and remaking tracks that I've had for years. This has been one of the most influential videos BY FAR that I have come across throughout the years. Thank you for this and many other videos you've created!!
Not an newbie at all here but this is truly one of the best tutorials I’ve ever seen. Spending these 47-something minutes will save me literally countless hours in producing music. Thank you so much!
This is great! Thanks!
Dude, you are amazing. Now I definitely don't have an excuse for not releasing BANGERS! Everyone that has watched your video is basically unstoppable now, more than ever before.
Yaaas! Go do it!
Everything you need to know about Logic Pro X is in this video! THX
Boom! Love it
@@NathanJamesLarsen B💥💥M!
This was a very well scripted video. I'm always interested in seeing other artist's templates, so I wish I could have seen more of yours, but imma get caught up on your other videos and subscribe to your channel. I like the way you roll.
🖖🍻👍
@@rastanot Thanks! Mine are pretty basic. I've got one really big one for film scoring that has essentially an entire orchestral all mapped out, but for pop production, I usually start with just a handful of MIDI tracks with Kontakt and several audio tracks with a preset vocal chain I use for tracking scratch vocals. I love making templates, but at the same time, I often DO like starting from scratch if I'm not super pressed for time - cause then I can feel more free to try new things out.
@@NathanJamesLarsen Word. I am trying to remotely flesh out some Pop-Punk/Ska-Reggae songs with my buddies, I thought the process would be faster, we'll find a groove soon as we learn the Postal Service way of songwriting and recording🇲🇱
Do you have any suggestions for file sharing Logic Stems?
Not enough space on Google drive, Dropbox is annoying, Mega makes you do achievements every month to keep your account running.
I'm thinking a NAS that's preconfigured for "cloud-like" file sharing should work, as long as I have the internet bandwidth.
Have you used anything you would recommend??
It's frustrating though cause I can't find a lot of Logic videos that follow this type of music. More than anything I just need the inspiration. I've been recording in the box since 2002, and you can guess I bet; I've ran so many different DAWs through their paces.
Logic Pro and I fit together like puzzle pieces.
My templates have Rasta colored instrument stacks and some very fitting icons to match. 🌿🌿
I totally agree about starting from scratch, if you know the daw it doesn't take much extra time to organize as you work. Sometimes I wonder if I spend more time adapting a template for a song that doesn't really fit the structure.
Thanks for letting me talk your ear off: You totally made my day after I watched this video, then you did it again with a warm reply.
Thanks dudder 🤘🇲🇱
@@NathanJamesLarsen I really like that piano riff brother can hear a whole song on that.
high pass filter knob is game changing
Indeed it is!
this is by far the best Logic pro tutorial I've ever seen in my life. I owe you a large beer!
For the metronome you can also change the metronome to any instrument. So you could change it to a drum track if you wanted to. However I usually just use a drummer track for my click track because I like the more human sound of that.
Thanks Nathan, this is by far one of the best tips and tricks collection for Logic Pro X !
Thanks! 🙏😎
Nathan getting excited about the slow down made me smile, I needed that after getting caught in the rain.
Nathan, this was one the BEST tip videos I’ve seen!! You covered a lot of things and you’ve really helped to speed up my workflow! Worth every single minute!
That's awesome!! So glad to hear that. Keep on it and make great music!
Man! I sure wish I knew these tips four years ago. For the life of me, I could never understand how to add fades in the arrange window. Thanks, Nathan!
Haha happy this helped you! And there are always those things even after 13 years I'm like "wait what?!"
@@NathanJamesLarsen Indeed. There is another thing that happens in Logic Pro that maybe you know something about. When I'm working in a midi region in the piano roll view and copy/paste notes in there, the midi clip region extends to whatever the original recording length was. So if I have trimmed and edited that region previously and subsequently copy/paste any notes in the region, I have to re-edit the end of the midi region. Drives me crazy!
I’ve been using Logic for 7 years or so and didn’t know half of these. I’m also a Luddite but lots of great tips. I’d love to see more.
I've been in Logic for probably 10-12 I think and many of these I didn't learn till I had been using it for a good while
Just seen this. Easily the best video I've seen on Logic. I've been using Logic for years and started to write notes of the tips... I've given up as there are so many great ones. I'll just watch..and rewatch. Thanks loads.
You’ve literally changed my game up in half an hour. Dude, you deserve a big pat on the back, from the good lord himself.
Yaaa! Thanks for that a ton! Happy to hear it's helped ya!
I could not wait for the video to get over, I have paused it and saying a Big Thank You already, for this amazing video ! I am a Newbie and Logic Life feels simpler now :)) Thank You !
That is amazing! So happy it helped you!!
In the velocity part I was expecting to see the random pitch option in "midi transformation". That's on the function menu. Really handy for making humanized chord progressions instantly!! Amazing tutorial by the way!
I love the MIDI Transform to also create fixed velocity. Man... so many tips you can't even fit them all in ...
Dude I literally love you right now. I started to use Logic Pro and this is GREAT HELP
I can't skip even 5sec in this video. thank you so much for this master class ❤
The most valuable content I've seen on Logic Pro X. You jus saved me hundreds $$$ and a massive headache. I was paying this dude hourly to help me understand some things and it's been so frustrating. He couldn't answer my questions bout fading nor give me any practical and helpful tips like creating alternative tracks when I needed em. This video literally is $$$. Good for you for spending your time putting together a content that adds value to ppl fr while some ppl jus out here putting out any content jus to get it out. Massive thanks to you!
WORD! Love hearing this! So so happy it helped ya
If you forget to hit 'latch' before playing with parameters, you can recall the automation with command+control+"a" and if you play something on your midi which you didn't record, you can recall it with shift+"R"
woah
I’ve been using logic a LONG time and didn’t know several of the things you showed. Great job, thanks for making this!
"B'whats up everybody!" ahaha Good ol' Pete...
Heck yes
Great stuff, Nathan! About half of these I already knew but the rest no. I won't use all of the 'new' ones but good to know nonetheless. The Fade tooltip around 20:00 - excellent! 😄
Awesome! Glad to hear that!
Very smart video..why? Cause the average Logic X Pro user will save & revisit it multiple times. At least 30x in order to implement the 30 tips .ijs
Not 30 times, just once, but pause 30 times & check everything.
Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but on Tip #11 for track stacks, you have the option of adding a 'Summing Stack' vs folder so you can actually turn it into an Aux, add effects, etc. Except it still functions like a stack and you can max/min all the takes. I usually use it to make 'mini-busses' for organization and some processing - and then route all of my production into my 4-6 main bus channels > then mix bus > master bus > final output.
Great video! Lots of stuff in here I never knew how to do!
Yes I should've mentioned that!
Very well done. Thanks for posting. However, you can adjust the curves of the fades when hovering over the audio regions.
Correct - thanks!
I have been a Logic Pro user for over 5 years and I'm currently in my 6th semester of audio engineering school. This video is amazing. Some great tips here even for experienced users.
🙏💪 Thanks bro
The info was good at the point I was even able to handle the swallowing for almost an hour!
This video in the least amount of words..... Amazing i've had my music career for 2 years and its been pretty long processes working with producers learning to produce myself to make life a little easier "and save money" and majority of these I'm like huh that's how you do that XD
Holy crap. I'm pretty fluent in Logic, but you threw out some great stuff here I can't wait to use.
Logic is deep! I'm still learning new stuff too
3 tools! Holy cr...
Dude! DUUUUDE!!!!! First things first... I'm JP. I'm from Brazil and I've just started studying Logic Pro X. Unfortunately it's not possible for me to afford for a Logic Pro course now (and I think there wouldn't be a good one here)... Well... Let me tell you that your tutorials are the best in my opinion and I'm really grateful that you're sharing your skills. You are helping me in a way I could never describe. Thank you very much for your videos and I wish all the best and success in your life. You REALLY deserve it! Thank you again!
Very useful indeed, even for an experienced pro. Maybe they'll include an 'edit out swallowing' function in the next update! ;-)
Yeah... the swallowing was over oversight. I've fixed it for all future videos ;) Nathan 2.0 lol
Nathan Larsen Music This might sound crazy but I’ve watched a shit ton of your videos and I was sold on the swallowing sound! Hahaha Shit’s like ASMR. 🤣
WoW, this may have changed my life. Being an experienced protools user at work, I also have a band and 3 of the band members are using logic, including me. But nobody really knows even a fraction of 1 % how to use it. I learned more in an 50 min. than over a year of using it sporadically. Will definitely watch the I wish I knew this video! Thanks a bunch, Nathan !
This is awesome. Thanks a bunch and super happy it's helped you! 🙏
讲了很多不知道的操作,非常感谢!!
Awesome video, this is literally life changing. I normally track my own vocals in a separate booth, how i didn't know about Logic remote is beyond me. So many other greats tips that will improve my production workflow. Many thanks, you're a legend
Awesome!! Yes the remote helps a ton! 😎😎🙏🙏
i watched all, nice! waiting for the ultra advanced tips
ua-cam.com/play/PLMNVXvgOMV6Fq1mkuMkPUNxoUvfl46Rhw.html
I saved this video, liked, and subscribed!! I learned so much in just 9 minutes that would've taken me longer than that.
Yay! Thanks! 😎
0:00 I was literally watching Peter McKinnon before this video...
Yeeessss!!
This was super helpful. I didn’t even know what to expect. Never stop making these. I really need to take your course.z
3:39 - WRONG. You can totally change the slope of the fade, if you keep hovering over the fade the cursor will change into the fade adjustment tool
You're right. Thanks
Chill out bro haha - WRONG !! 😆😆
Reinold Guzman He’s still wrong though. WRONG. Nathan Larsen Music even admitted that I was right. It’s important to point out things that are incorrect in tutorial videos because lots of beginners will watch this video and take what he says as gospel, and not only will they do things the wrong way, they’ll repeat what he said to other people and next thing you know, a whole bunch of misinformation will have been spread.
I don't think the fade tool thing is "the wrong way" -- I mean, yeah, you're right - I misspoke but if people are using the fade tool to change the shape vs what you're saying - it doesn't matter. There are usually multiple ways to do everything in most DAWs.
Again - I have no problem being corrected but the fade thing is really not a big deal. I didn't know half these tips for YEARS and was still making good music.
Nathan Larsen Music Nope, I corrected you because you stated in the video that you “cannot change the slope of the fade with the Marquee Fade Tool” which is just flat out wrong and misinformation. I wasn’t talking about the many different ways you can achieve manipulating fades but talking specifically about the Marquee Fade Tool’s functionality.
man this is like the best quickest tips i've ever seen. very detailed I did not realize all these options were in Logic but this will really benefit my workflow. Thanks!
Love it! Yes Logic is greaf
The ASMR swallow hits different
Mannnnn... thank youuuu massivessss!! 👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾
Craziest thing is watching this in 2023
This is absolutely the most useful video of Logic Hacks! Thank you so very much!
Am I the only one who was hearing "I hope that I can poop" in that vocal??
How did I never know about project alternatives? I've always just made a completely different project save. Thanks so much for that tip. Nearly 75% of my projects can go either way, as completely stripped down acoustic pieces or as rock/electronic expanded productions. I'm constantly struggling with which way I want to take them, and this will definitely speed up any comparisons and decisions. You rock, easy sub!
Love it! So glad this'll help you out
Holy crap. The sampler track from transients just saved SO MUCH TIME WTF. Been using Logic for like 11 years and never knew that one.
Woooot! Always new things to learn
Nathan, you're a doggone genius. Loved this video, and you taught this old dog some new tricks. Thanks again my friend.
You sir are a Logic Pro X Genius!! So much information! Very kind of you to share your vast knowledge of this amazing DAW!
The amount of helpful information in this video is outstanding. It's like a whole course worth of material. Thanks!!!!
I am brand-new to Logic Pro X......So thank you so very much!! You're knowledge is greatly appreciated.
there is a shortcut for the color pallete, its control c or alt c
This is a phenomenal video 100%
Woot! Thanks
I was lookingfor something like this a couple of weeks ago and now its all here!! Aaaawesome!!
Boom! Thanks!
wow, this was good. thank you!! that quick & easy vocal chop was my fav tip of the bunch
One of the best Logic Pro X tips videos I've seen. Concise, conversational and super helpful tips. And appreciate the markers in the description!! Thanks so much for posting.
Heck yes! Thanks!
Tip 16 !!! I love it !!!!Thanks Nathan !!
Wow !! I'm saving this 30 tip video cause there is soo much great info here !!!!
Love this -- thanks! YOU rock!
This is the best video i've ever seen. Thank you.
😎😎🙏🙏thanks!!
I love these videos man! Not sure why, but you have a great way of making things make sense more than most! Would love to see a compression video.... basically Compression 101(what it reall is doing, the parameter adjustments, single use vs. a bus, what instances to use, what instruments to compress together) Just getting back into DAWs and recording in general after a 12 year hiatus and switching from PT to Logic and loving it! Your videos have made the transition pretty seemless! A lot of 'Ah Has!' and Ohhhh yeahhhh...'makes sense' Thanks for the knowledge!
Hey really appreciate this!! Thanks so much. I've got a lot of videos planned already and am keeping notes of what people want. I know I'm gonna do one on the ways to use Busses for sure in the near future. I'm kind of staying away from deep mixing because i think there are enough mixing channels - I'm focused on songwriting and producing (which is a different process than mixing). Not saying I won't make any mixing videos but that's not my focus.
Some life changing stuff here for me! I’ve watched tons of videos but you’re the first and only one I’ve subscribed to. Thanks for this
Thank you brother.
Heck yes!
This is CLEAN. You're Just a BEAST!
🙏🙏🙏🙏😎😎😎😎 thanks a ton!
VERY comprehensive breakdown of workflow - especially with regards to recording via the iphone app and turning flex pitch vocals into midi to get ideas out. thanks for making this!
100% - thanks!
by far one of the best tutorials i have ever seen and I'm only midway through. Thanks so much!!
Thanks a bunch!!
Great Tips man! I'll add one #32 TRACK ALTERNATIVES. Super Clutch for trying out different parts for tracks.
THE BEST LOGIC PRO VIDEO EVER!! thanks so much
Best comment ever! 🙏 you rock thanks
The group editing is killing!!!
Supervid! I’m using Logic for over 8 years now and there were a lot of things new for me. Very usefull, so keep up the good work!
Thanks! Love hearing this
Your explanations and the cutting of the video are on point. Have watched so many hours of other tip videos explaining not the half of your content. Using logic for years, despite i learned a lot. Thanks
Thanks a bunch!!
Very useful - thanks very much!
Thanks!
Holy crap this is an OVERLOAD of great information!! I'll probably watch this 50 times. Thank you!
Yay! Love hearing this - thank you and so happy it was valuable to you!
So helpful - and succinct! So many tools so easy to use!
Thanks!
Awesome, *Nathan Larsen Music* !
Thanks!
Doesn't freeze track basically bounce a temporary aif of that track, and then only playback the aifs (instead of re-running the VSTs) of each frozen track when you're still working on the whole project?
This is hands down the most informative video I have watched on Logic Pro. Concise and to the point. Love the Peter Mckenon intro. I knew this was going to be good when you did that!
Thanks a bunch! Hats off for Peter - dudes a boss.
I would simply say 'wow'. Thanks a lot Nathan. I am gonna watch it multiple times until I get this tutorial completely as I am just a beginner on Logic Pro X.
Those tips for shortcuts at the beginning, just saved me lot of time! so dope, thanks a lot!!
Still looking for one that would save also time, any way to disable all fxs in a channel? To compare before and after effect? i know I can duplicate track and make one with no effect, but like in Studio one you can disable all fx that are on a channel.
I don't think there is just a disable button but if you click Option and then click and drag the on/off button to your effects it'll shut them all off. Hope that makes sens
@@NathanJamesLarsen Ok, that's a good start to shut all fx off, didn't knew we can do this, thanks for your help sir :) Appreciate it!
Would be nice if they add a "master" on/off effect on each channels. Maybe in the future ^^
Loving the videos man - they have been very helpful !!!
This video blew me away! SUBSCRIBED.....all I can think to myself is, "How the he did he figure all of this out???". I'm looking forward to checking out all of your other videos too! Thanks for sharing all your hard work and knowledge!
This is amazing!! Thank you! Love it!
Mann I know you probably get this a lot but you are the man I never comment on anybody or talk on UA-cam or anything but I have to give you your respect you are the man I have learned so much through the years and have became a pretty good producer and mix engineer and artist because of you thanx broski
Great video... Thanks!! Quick question...In tip #16 at 18:45(ish) Love the tip about speed up and slow down using right click on fade tool... In your video you were able to do this while the right mouse button was assigned to scissor tool. How did you do this?? I am missing something here.. When I set up the same way you have it, Fade too on Command (middle tool) and scissors right click tool... it obviously cuts the region any time i try to select the speed menu. I had to select right mouse assignable to tool menu to make this happen. Either way, enjoying this video a lot. Keep up the good work and making music.
Hey - you need to make sure you are hovering over the Fade itself in order to right click ON the fade. That should do it - but you need to make sure that the Fade itself is being right clicked - and not the region. That make sense? Give that a shot and let me know if that doesn't work (or if it does!)
@@NathanJamesLarsen For some reason, this will not work on my system. Must be something in my deep settings. I updated to Mojave this week so a reinstall of LPX may be in store. But again, great tutorial. I've applied quite a few of these to my sessions this week.
Good pointers bro!
THIS VIDEO IS AMAZING. Thank you! Sequel with the tips you had to cut out?
Thank you!! I'll probably end up doing that down the road! Have a lottttt of others on the docket
@@NathanJamesLarsen Sweet. Watching your strings one now. You're a great teacher. Thanks for creating your vids!
😌😌 thank you. So appreciate that. I definitely love doing it.
I can't believe how good these tips are. Thanks!!
Yes!' Love it!
@@NathanJamesLarsen seriously! I'm currently in LA Film School for music production and we are using Logic. This is very handy.
Great video tips for logic beginner's like my self. Your example for fade editing of wave audio files made my day. Also alternative mode is sound very useful. Thank You so much!!
Such a GREAT vid.. There are so many Logic training vids out there, but this drops a ton of useful tips in one vid, very articulately and succinctly explained. Thanks!
Thanks a bunch!! Honestly kinda why I made it. I've not been thrilled with a lot of the videos out there so just trying to make videos I'd find helpful.
@@NathanJamesLarsenVery appreciated. I knew about many things already, but you gave so many tips that I learned a lot, and so will others. Subscribed and looking forward to learning more!
You really came through with the project alternatives tip. It changes everything for me! Subscribed. Thanks bro!
Great video :)
Only one mistake I,noticed was concerning the Logic Remote: you don’t have to be connected to the internet to use it, you just have to be connected to the same wifi network your Mac running Logic is connected to. So basically, you can even create a wifi hotspot that is not connected to an Internet router/box, connect the Mac and iPad/iPhone to it and use Logic Remote.
It's the little things that go a long way. Appreciate this bro 🙏🏽
Pretty long but pretty interesting! Bravo!
🙏
this video is the most needed thing I was looking for - thanks mate - and the tip list in the description is like over 10000
Thanks!
I've been producing for years on logic and stuff and you've made some tricks so simple to learn! thank you!!
