Ever wonder if a 1995 van could be home-sweet-home? Meet JP, the man that turned a van into his sanctuary. This rig has more than a sweet cassette tape player as it's stocked with amazing windows for natural lighting, a medicine cabinet that's perfect for small items, and several hidden spaces for random storage.
The bed extends long enough for him to stretch out entirely, and when it's converted to bench seating, there's plenty of space for a dining table to pop up. A set of double doors allows for an expansion of his living area as it reaches out to a small awning. A two-burner stove with a small sink and a 3-way Dometic fridge is valuable to this van lifer as cooking is a big part of his routine. Jp and his pup Chance not only travel in this tiny home on wheels but explore outside of it as well.

I just love his energy, so honest and grounded. The devotion and compassion he has for Chance tells us exactly what his character is. Whoever captures his heart for a relationship will truly be lucky, his devotion and compassion for you can be seen in how he treats his furbaby... What a nice young man... and great Van too! And at one time, didn't they call these vans, turtle vans?

This Camper Van is unique, I haven't seen a van with so many built in specific departments like the pull out pantry for dry food, then a place to hang clothes, and the vanity with a mirror. Good luck to JP and Chance on their life journey. Thanks for sharing this video.

Chance is adorable! I love how much he obviously loves and takes into consideration Chance's comfort as well. What a cozy and comfy van! I really like that trippy, drippy fruit painting too. This is how you build a camper van - excellent storage and overall lay out.
What a great story that his life revolves around his puppers Chance !!! My dogs and cats are my world too. Such a cozy van build. Everything in its place. I love that and never seen all this storage and nooks and crannies in a van. This tiny home is a great size too, so if your caught in the rain for a few days, there are places to go in the van to chill. Great energy, great puppers, great van, amazing life !!! 🪔
Very smart on your part to pickup on this older van and see if this life style is for you. Has everything you need and don't brake the bank. If your happy, that is all that matters!!! There's nothing better then a good old dog as your buddy. Enjoy, be safe and God Bless you both!

As a fellow rescue staffie/pitbull parent (mine is also named. Chance! 😂), I highly approve! 🙌. We know staffies/pit bulls are the best!! Total love bugs. ❤️. We’re going to start our vanlife very soon!

Excellent vid!!! I just lost my 14 yo pibble boy Blanco a month ago, more white than Chance, but very similar. I miss him so much. My heart dog. It is so great to see someone so bonded with their big boy too. Pibbles are THE BEST!! Super intelligent, and goofballs at the same time!

I have a 1995 RoadTrek campervan conversion and I love it. It's fun to see a different one, especially one so cool! Your air conditioning set up is awesome. Mine only works on generator or store power, so I may just have to ask the mechanic if there's a way to put that in now🤔 I also have a dog, and a cat too. Beautiful rig ❤️🚙🇨🇦

I traveled and camped over 15 years. My dogs and cats went with me. They loved it. My Siamese cat Cossette, loved the adventure. She walked on a leash, well pretty much she lived life on a leash.
I grew up with several Siamese. All harness trained, so we'd go for walks. I continued the trend with my rescue cats for years.
Really great van! They definitely knew how to build them. It’s like living in a time capsule. Gives you a little glimpse into how people were hitting the road a quarter of a century ago (wow! that almost sounds ancient!) Fun van, sweet pupper! Safe travels to you both! God bless!
What an awesome older van with all the great storage, nice little kitchen set up and super comfy looking couches into beds! I absolutely LOVE the multi CD player too! (You & I must be the only ones left on earth who appreciate their CDs & multi playing capability, lol) What a great life you’ve made for you & your pooch, he is obviously well loved and cared for 🐾❤️ Best of luck always on your adventures!

I have a 1985 econoline 5.8 liter coachman with the turtle shell top that the original owners completely gutted to bare metal walls. The only thing the left was the upper bunk with no mattres. I keep it pushed in and use it for storage. However, I havent been able to find any pics of the original interior when it was built. So I built it out going by other youtube videos so I can camp. I want to live in mine too. I always look for similar vans like mine to try and get ideas of how mine used to look. I think your is by far the best ive come across so far.

I lived in a Class C for several years back in the 1980s working as a travel nurse. They definitely built RVs better back in the day. While living in my RV I used my income to buy a house which I rented out. Nearly 40 years later I'm retired in that house. Yes, you can live more economically in a van, but you can also get used to that level of expense/income and not make some investments that are going to benefit you down the road when getting older.
I had my Class C for 25 years with minor problems, built so well in the 80s. I got a job and settled down, working 3 12 hour shifts a week and had 4 days a week to be in the Class C. Work some, play some, spend some, save some.

IThe more I see older/vintage vans and campers, the more I like those better, what with all their nooks and crannies. Seems the newer models lost something along the way. Super appreciate his devotion to a dog who, by his implication, didn’t have a good start. Very special person.

You manage to do a lot of things in your home on wheels. You have everything you need laid out quite well. There is nothing like a dog to travel with. Never have to worry about Chance "back seat driving"! 😉 Be safe!
Although I am not a van-lifer, I find it fascinating how creative people can be to arrange the necessities into such small space. In this case, with the insane cost of housing in CA, I can see how van life would help making living actually affordable without being homeless.

Hay ,JP. Nice Setup, excellent build for a 95’ Dodge Van. I’m starting out on the road got real tired of paying rent. I have a 97’ Dodge caravan, about 6 months on the road living in Van. Live in Long Beach. Parking around 7th St. & Cedar when there’s parking. Saving a lot more money in Van ,slowly getting the Van fixed up. Either looking to converting this Van more or buying something better to live in after saving for awhile longer. I’m retired and on social security. Van life seems to be so much better than renting I’m hooked already! Seeing your Rig was inspiring to me. Just turned 70’ in December kinda healthy for senior work hard all life paid off also went L. B. City college & Graduated @ Cerritos college. Good traveling on the road JP. Say hello to Chance for me.

Having owned six RVs, I can tell you that little white box below where the microwave used to be is a 12 V propane heater. It does not require short powered to operate, maybe you don’t have any house batteries in the rig. I haven’t watched the video far enough to know, but you have a separate 12 V system that operates a separate battery, not the one that’s in the engine compartment because if you run it down then you can’t start your engine. But that furnace is 12 V furnace because I have one just like it in my RV except it’s painted brown on the front instead of White. They’ve been making them for years. They’re very reliable and they do a great job as you know. But you do not have to be plugged in to use it.

Wow! I have to say for an older van they thought of everything what a great set up and the engine can be worked on, no fancy expensive parts to deal with like the new vehicles have.
I would love to find one of these for traveling, even if just to get away for the winter months.

This is a really cool living space and you and your love for your dog is awesome. I wonder is it really hard to get parts for the engine if anything has to be replaced since it is a 1993 van. I do like your living space a lot, very thought out and has plenty of living space for the both of you.

It's so well thought out and planned with all of your tables and extensions and you have just what you need and no more and your bed set up just everything in your van is perfect for me I like the van I like it size it's construction and as a single older woman I would feel very safe and capable in the van like that. You structured your life around chance which is wonderful and being on the road doing what you want. You've obviously met many of your goals and I applaud you. You might want to replace your cdplayer with a small laptop. You can then have way way way way more than 12 disks worth of music when offgrid. I am sure you can find something nearly for free. CDs take up so much space
