This isn’t a doom and gloom video as I hope you’ve seen. I love MMORPGS, in particular SWTOR! I want so many people to play the game and other MMOs so they can find the joy that I have. What do you think though? Will MMOs make a comeback? Let me know your thoughts!
A huge HUGE part of an MMO is the "Living world".. a game that evolves overtime. Players USED to play the game to see what changed, run around new areas to find secrets, learn how to play their class and role, and to EXPERIENCE the game. Now you get video after video throwing up this informationg in your face. Guides from PTS and Data mining PRIOR to the expansion/chapter even launching. People Min/Maxing even prior to patches coming out. Full guides to every single dungeon and mob pull... Boss fight mechanics and everything else. MMOs used to be way more fun because the PLAYER found all this out by PLAYING the game, not by videos/guides prior to it even being launched
This is also very true! Thats why I never made videos about leaks or data mining because it seemed lame to ruin things for players. Making guides is a natural part of the content creation process. But data mining and leaks are just bad content in my opinion
In my opinion SWTOR still holds up because it’s one of the last real Star Wars games from the EU before the Disney takeover. Now they pump out nothing but garbage shows and games like Star Wars outlaws🤣
thats my issue with star wars. I think disney kind of "killed" all hype. It'll be a long time before star wars can recover from the damage that disney has done to it's good name.
I wouldn't be so bothered by the current state of MMOs if I actually found one to happily go back to at all. But I'm unfortunately cursed with wanting challenging, cooperative content that doesn't rely on rotations and meta builds... So I got the short end of the stick for pretty much the entire genre.
@@NoblePlays Other genres don't have as much trouble. Deep Rock Galactic and Helldivers 2 are more challenging than not at all, but if you want more MMO-like qualities, your best bet is... what? Monster Hunter?
Great video man. Always enjoy seeing your videos pop up in my feed. Love swtor, I always come back to it at least twice a year. But the lack of content as these years pass on is beyond disappointing. Honestly feels like I come back just for nostalgia’s sake. And like you said playing an mmo alone brings down the experience as well. Keep the content coming bro, and it’s cool to see your devotion to swtor!
Yeah I'm on a rotation of mmos back on SWTOR again as I've got a friend to now play and it's exciting to see a friends enjoyment. I usually switch between, GW2, LOTRO and SWTOR. I also play New World but I haven't been on much as of late. I also think it's the nostalgia aswell. I'm 33 and have been playing MMOs since I was 14 or 15. The first being GW1 and then LOTRO. I think I love going back to my main three as the nostalgia and enjoyment is ongoing. SWTOR may not be producing content at the same rate anymore but I think it's my favourite of the lot as I'm a big star wars fan and still plenty of things I haven't yet done. Also yes I usually play MMOs on my own but I always look out to join group content as it's a good thrill and a lot of fun. So I hope SWTOR will continue into the future.
I personally don’t believe that MMO‘s are not dead, yes it been declining but that doesn’t make it dead. The MMO’s genres have the same issues of triple AAA gaming when developing their games and make it mediocre at best without innovating as much compared to indie games.
Definitely not dead. I can log into ESO and get a que to a random dungeon in no time and that game is "dead". Same with SWTOR People use the term "dead game" when there isn't 1mil players on at once. I remember when lost Ark had 400-500k players on and people were saying it is "dying/dead"
@zombiejesus7445 PvP is "dead". Last I played I was soloqueing to kill time and ran into the same names and same teams over 8 times in a row. We were playing the same people on different maps for 45 minutes.
Sup Noble. I feel obliged to add to some of what you said. So it’s clear, our channel will only upload SWTOR videos if and when new content releases. Our videos are solidly at the veteran players of the game and the present state of the game. The difference between my videos and everyone else’s, is that we upload for the sake of telling the truth about the games flaws and shortcomings, everyone else is rage bait. Nerdslayer, Nixxiom and more. The problem is not that they are getting negative reviews, this is only their own fault. The problem is how they handle the game and how shockingly bad that is. I’ll say something nice when they do a good job. They had heavy praise from me for 6.2 but no one talks about that. Anyways, I’ve seen you go up and down on this opinion a lot over the past few years my friend. It’s hard to tell of this is really how you feel about it. To be clear again, if we wanted views, we wouldn’t upload SWTOR. We would upload more feature length lore videos which have been our top earners forever. You should know there is no making money on SWTOR videos.
I definitely have ups and downs with SWTOR, anyone can go look at my videos and see that. I wasn’t really referring to any of your content in the later half of the video. I was more so talking about people who didn’t play the game at all anymore and kept making videos on swtor. I don’t really have a strong opinion about the game direction like I used to. You and I both have a life to live. I’ve stepped away from swtor like 16 times, as everyone knows. But I’m always back, the game definitely isn’t in the best spot, it hasn’t been for years. But I think it’s not just swtor… I think it’s MMOs overall.
Noble Definitely has changed his opinions on the game over the years, but he said it himself months ago. He’s grown up, he’s not soley focused on video games. So he’s not as inclined to take hardline stances on gaming, even in swtor. When he went to his other channel we all knew he would be back. Swtor is a part of him lol. Not clowning you noble, glad you’re back. I like the chill approach you’ve made to gaming. You always would go to one extreme or the other. Glad there’s middle ground here
Love to see you around SWCentral - Keep up the good fight. Noble, good opinion piece, but I disagree with you on everything. SWTOR has had this whole toxic positivity shill mentality going for it for too long now and the game has not changed for the better. Devs don't listen to their community and lose their shit or censor their playerbase when they are criticized. The only reason that SWTOR continues to live is because the story portion (up to a certain point) is a masterpiece, hiding the ugly part of the game for enough time for that new player to be amazed and spend some cash in it. An example of this was Bellular Gaming and Nixxiom in my opinion, they were putting out these amazing videos praising swtor for a couple of months and then after 2 month ish they saw how SWTOR is just an empty shell of what could have been. Not that I support these creators but I think their new player experience sums up how people end up feeling about the game, a masterpiece that has become a disgrace due to poor management and pure HUBRIS. To conclude, we ran out of options: try to suggest something to devs - gets ignored (ranked pvp for instance and many other scenarios), be angry at the devs - gets censored (Nightmare R4), therefore we have come to the final solution: hurt their revenue (brilliantly summed up in swtor central's video - apathy is eating away this playerbase and I for one hope this continues, maybe this will get a message across through their thick skull) . And in the end, if this means that the game "dies", I would rather have it die. Sometimes things have to die so better things can come along. In the end I urge you not to discredit people's passions for this game, have fun but let people do their thing.
8:04 "games are being made faster"..... Umm might want to check that. Example Halo. It took the same amount of time to make Halo 1 to 3 as it did to make ONLY Infinite.. infinite without forge, theater, split screen and without about 70% of the multiplayer playlists. Games used to take 2-4 years to make. Now games take about 8-10years
My counter argument is that with Halo specifically: There was a mess going on behind the scenes. Lots of starting and restarting. 343 went out of there way to mess up Halo infinite. The 2-4 years of development back in 2001 actually spent most of their time developing games. The 8-10 years for halo was 343 trying to figure out how they were going to make money without making a complete game.. game development of an MMO and a Multiplayer shooter are very different.
@@NoblePlays doesn't matter what happens in the background to consumers. The time between games have been substantially increased Example: you could work on a video for a month straight, 6h a day. The consumer will only see one video within that month from you
MMOs have had problems for several years, some of those are similar to MOBAs and shooters despite being different genres. Some of those problems are caused by companies but some by players. There is more detail to this but would make this post too long for some though there should be more discussion on those subjects. A recent MMO even switched to single player and co-op both of which are getting more attention for reasons.

Still going strong in SWTOR. Been playing off and on since I was a senior in high school when the game launched :D

i think the riot mmo will revive the mmo genre and if it doesnt then vr games in the future similar to sao will
Whenever that game comes out lol
great video 💯👍🖖
Thank you 👍
Damn I’m early for this 😂 will comment again when I’m done watching it lol
Good point and video honestly I’ve only been interested in one mmo lol
That’s commendable! I wanted to try other ones out, but I really only have time for one
wow is doing just fine play a real mmo, i also played swotr pvp'd and raided.
I don’t have the time to get into that particular one. I know wow is a powerhouse. I just prefer swtor
