===== ABOUT Dr. Katie Woodley - The Natural Pet Doctor =====
Dr. Katie is a small animal integrative veterinarian who developed a passion for natural medicine while living in New Zealand. Her vet career began in the beautiful country of New Zealand, where she learned the value of living off the land, growing vegetables, and raising animals for a healthy lifestyle. Her pets enjoyed open spaces and abundant outdoor adventures.
Upon returning to the States five years ago, her husband faced an autoimmune disease. In researching natural medicine alternatives to traditional treatments, Dr. Katie realized the potential to provide holistic options to her animal patients. She embarked on the integrative medicine journey, embracing nutrition, acupuncture, herbal medicine, essential oils, and supplements to promote optimal health, even in pets with chronic illnesses like cancer. She holds certifications in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine and continues to expand her knowledge in natural modalities.
Dr. Katie founded this business to provide pet parents with resources for natural medicine advice and care. Her mission is to increase awareness of the benefits of natural medicine, ensuring that all pet parents have access to herbal medicine, supplementation, and nutritional guidance throughout their pet's lifetime. Collaboration with pet parents and veterinary professionals is her joy, ensuring comprehensive integrative options for pet health care.

Great video. I have been to some of these kibble production facilities in the middle of Kansas since I was the buyer for kibble a few years ago. It is exactly as Dr Katie describe it to be. The facility was so dirty that I was surprised that I did not see any rodents running around since there is an abundant food supply with all the kibble on the ground. Started feeding raw food after seeing that site and that made a huge difference in my pup's health

Informative video. Mars controls 43% of all pet foods sold, including Royal Canin. Mars also owns several veterinary health clinics, including Banfield and VCA. Guess what food is recommended by those vets? 81% of cat owners and 70-75% of dog owners feed dry most or all of the time. 61% of cats and 59% of dogs are overweight or obese. This leads to diabetes, arthritis and kidney problems. Corn is a big positive to the kibble and grain folks. But corn is fed to hogs to fatten them quickly. A homemade diet, based on chicken, ground beef, or other fresh meat, is cheaper per pound than many dry pet foods, especially the "veterinary diet" brands. Thank you for posting this.

One of my cats is recovering from a lengthy illness. He wasn't eating much and drinking very little. He was extremely underweight. He was also constipated. I gave him a bit of Ghee to move the stool. It worked fast. Once his bowels were clear his appetite started to come back. I had made an organic chicken the night before and had some chicken innards. I par boiled them and put them in the food chopper. I mixed it in with his can of food. OMGosh! It totally changed him almost immediately. He has his energy back and his appetite is ravenous. He is almost back to normal weight. I am considering making my own cat food. I changed my own diet to be healthy, now doing it for my kitties. (My family)

One thing I am concerned about is that there is no maximum copper level established by AAFCO, only a minimum. As a result, many dog foods are crazy high in copper which can cause problems over time. Unfortunately, some of these foods are raw high quality foods that use large amounts of ruminant liver (naturally high in copper) and some also add copper supplements on top of it.

One thing that could be misleading is asking if a full time nutritionist is on staff. Just because they have one on staff does not necessarily mean that they helped formulate the food. I think it is better to ask if their food is formulated by a certified nutritionist.

We're not fans of kibble especially for cats because it's so high in carbohydrate content and not a species appropriate diet. Here's a free guide with some other brands that we recommend instead to help you: thenaturalpetdoctor.com/shop/simple-guide-to-improving-your-pets-food/

I don't see a list of company's you recommend; can you recommend a kibble for a 7+ lab please I always add to kibble, fruits, veggies, sardines, etc but she won't eat it so I have to blend it up like a paste and sneak it in her food. help me , please. wont eat raw.
