Honest Try: Garbage Stew
Вставка

- Today I decided to make another user request- Jack's infamous "Garbage Stew." This one was more challenging than I thought it would be.
Thanks everyone for watching and for your great comments!
Music used is from Final Fantasy Tactics. - Ігри
I love how each episode it becomes more and more like a "let's see if I can do this one-handed" challenge
Jack has to, so it's authentic.
@@830toAwesomeI came here to say that lol. 🦆 brought me here.
@@830toAwesome Jack's wife helps him off screen
the cooking with jack simulator
Has anyone requested that brisket chili Jack entered in that chili cook off at his church? Course don’t use green colored meat that went bad like he did.
Use green food coloring , to have the ''look'' of the dish , without the food poisoning .
Yep, it's coming. I have a fun idea for it. And no- I won't use rotten brisket.
@@saddemgargouri Modern problems require modern solutions! 🤯
You have to use year old freezer burnt rotten meat or else it won't have that same je ne sais quoi.
His chili looks to be really good if the meat wasnt rotten.
This is somehow sadder to watch than Jack’s version. All those ingredients looked fresh and delicious on their own, and they had to be subjected into a witch’s cauldron. Jack is either batshit insane or one UA-cam’s greatest trolls. There’s no way anyone could just dump all those things into a crockpot and think they were getting something good.
I get the vibe from Jack that he's a narcissist.
There’s no way he’s a troll. The Church Chilli cook off video and his man-child reaction when he didn’t win was an insight into what the man is actually like.
Trolls don’t usually have multiple strokes, heart attacks, and bouts with food borne illnesses due to their trolling efforts
some people have those genes where everything tastes nice
I'd say don't give Jack that out, but he's too stupid and full of himself to claim he was trolling the whole time.
I can say with the utmost confidence that your version of garbage stew is infinitely more palatable, nutritious, and safe to eat than the one our friend Jack concocts.
"some differences are that mine should be safe to eat"
it's so sad that just with that caveat you've made it unrecognizable from Jack's version 💀👍
I'm glad you decided to use fresh ingredients!! don't make yourself sick for youtube, not worth it!
I loved the heroic background music while you tried to open the jar 1 handed and the look of pain and confusion when you eventually got to eating it
Its from Final Fantasy Tactics
Real LA Beast energy
Of course he had to lock the lid in place. He knew if this monstrosity escaped, it would destroy the entire world. What a hero this man is
Came from August's channel, stayed for the Final Fantasy Tactics soundtrack. My hero!
I already knew you had good taste in video game music and now you're hitting us with Final Fantasy Tactics?
Excellent.
I like the idea of using your near expired food, can't stand food waste myself, but I don't know if I'd just chuck it all in a pot and pray for the best. There's gotta be better ways.
There are better ways. I grew up on a lot of homemade veg soups, and a dish called Scouse, which was made of leftover root veg and some cubed up meat (beef, lamb or mutton). Where Jack's garbage stew goes wrong is putting pickled and tined food in and adding the beer. Another good way of using up any cooked meat is to dice it finely, add it to some boiled potatoes then mash up the potatoes like you usually would. Pop under the grill for a reheat and crust, and you can eat it as either a side dish or a main one.
@@lucretialee3691 that sounds great actually
@@lucretialee3691 I always have some sort of dried beans around, lentils, split peas, northern great whites, kidneys, all sorts. They're good for making nice soups with leftover meats and veggies. Another thing you could try is mash your potatoes and add some meat, a bit of flour and fry them into little fritters. They're pretty awesome.
@@IronArmPanda Yes me too, plus rice and pearl barley if I can get it. I also make sure to have plenty of different types of stock cubes too, the veg stock cubes are great to add to rice when cooking it. Sound like the potato cakes I make, only I mix in an egg instead of the meat. They taste great grilled then buttered, or used instead of bread to make toasted sandwiches.
Yeah you've definitely got to pay attention to what you're throwing together. Avoiding waste is fantastic, but if you make this, now you've wasted but just the food but the time and electricity to cook it. Mind you, I've got no problem throwing some beef I need to use in a pot with just about whatever veggies are in the fridge/freezer or some canned stuff.
Somebody told Jack you can make a garbage stew with pretty much any ingredients and he took it too literally.
You can tell by the combinations of ingredients/flavors that Jack uses that he really doesn't understand cooking.
“This is how the drummer from Def Leppard opens up his salsa.” LOL I’m ded. 🤣
That look of instant regret after the first bite, and then he went back for more! Courage is being scared and still doing the thing that scares you.
my man’s using Final Boss music for this dish 💀 fair as fuck
love the FF tactics music. Can't believe some one ate that tho
A masterpiece. The one handed chefery, the pop socket POV, the dramatic music, they all come together to create the ultimate viewing experience. Keep up the great work! Maybe you should try making some Chef Club abominations, I bet that'd be funny.
Garbage stew is really popular in Korea they usually add spam and kimchi to it but it originated from the Korean war where they were turning scraps into food. Glad you aren't risking food poisoning on this
Bro, that's army stew.
"If you're like me you like your hot dogs blackened"
*Laughs in Wisconsin*
When the first reaction to a bite of food is a step backwards you know the food is bad
The Final Fantasy Tactics music amazingly compliments the dire and inevitable conclusion that someone is going to have to attempt to eat this confused amalgamation of a recipe at the end of the video. The video was fun and I love the music!
Maybe replacing sweet potatoes with regular taters, pickled jalapenos with ground up dried ones, beer with just water (smaller amount and some butter added), omitting the lime, and using some proper seasoning could make it not as bad? I'm not American, so I had to search what Cajun spice mix is, and there's nothing out of the ordinary there, but if the store-bought mix has salt in it, you can't really control the ratio of salt and spices.
I think the beer could still be a thing, but definitely not an IPA. I use Coors original for a lot of beef and chicken dishes, it gives a nice subtle flavor.
Jack: don't throw that garbage away! You add some broth, a potato, and baby, you got a stew goin'!
I kind of want to play Dungeons and Dragons with this man, he seems like he would make a good Druid or Ranger.
Haha man the quality and jokes on these just keep getting better and better. RIP that poor turkey, that looked so good. And don't worry about not being able to accurately describe it, the utter silence after that first bite said more than words ever could lol.
The camera shaking from the laughter while you're eating it has me in a total giggle fit 😂
Just a note: Expiration date, best by, and "dangerous to eat" all can and often do mean very different things. You brought it up around 0:57, so I wanted to point that out.
These videos keep getting better and better. The sad thing about this recipe is that you have so many options and possibilities for delicious dishes with these ingredients, but Jack just threw everything in a pot and called it a day. There's no possible way all those ingredients and flavors could possibly compliment eachother. 💀
One of the best shtick channels out there. keep it up buddy. Proud of you.
Oh, also please include the recipes "down below" in your future videos my guy! Cheers.
@@Detox112 Good call!
These videos are always so high quality and good
I had my doubts about that recipe, but then you added the spinach and now I know everything’s going to be just fine…
This kind of reminds me of the days of living off of "trash casserole". We didn't have much food in the house during a period after my parents got divorced and what we did have wasn't enough to make a meal out of, so I invented something just to have something to eat where I threw whatever ground meat was in the freezer into a pan with whatever noodles and frozen vegetables we had. At the time I didn't really season it with anything other than pepper because we didn't have those in the house either. We were so hungry that we didn't notice how really bland it was, but at least even then I made something far more edible than this.
4 hours later...You know what...this stew needs another ingredient. Exactly what I was thinking. You are a brave human. Love these vids.
Just an FYI Akaso (and I imagine some other camera brands since it's Spring) has a sale on action cams right now, could probably get a camera + chest mount for about $80 and no longer have to do everything one handed.
Just wanted to thank you for keeping up the production of these vids. My dad has an extremely severe case of bipolar and I barely get to see him. You really remind me of him before he got hospitalized. It really does warm my heart, once again, thank you
Hey man, glad you're here. I'm happy that I can bring you at least a little comfort, however fleeting. I'm very sorry to hear about your dad. That's rough and I can't imagine how difficult it must be.
🙏 for him, you, and your family.
I’m so glad to see someone jumping on this opportunity. There are so many videos by Jack that you’ll have years of content 😂
Your commitment to not relinquishing your filming hand is commendable
“Today on Kitchen Crimes Against Humanity”…
FF tactics music hell yeah!
You are one of the bravest people to ever walk this earth
Imagine not using expired ingredients in your recipes
"You could serve this at a Concentration Camp.....Possibly a Gulag" ..... omg I'm friggin' laughing my ass off !!!
I swear, at this point Jack OWES you a tripod.
Seeing it up close just increases the gross factor of this dish. How could anyone look at that and willingly want to eat that?
Can we appreciate that this man actually tried it for science?
what always gets me is the lime. If you have lime to spare, just put it in your drink like a lemonade or a coke or something. Don't throw it into a savoury stew and hope for the best.
I'm so surprised this only has 5.46k subs. This is such a brilliant UA-cam channel idea, I'm like, "damn, I wish I had thought of that".
"How would you improve this dish?"
I'd go get a can of Dinty Moore instead
I'm glad you went with the specific ingredients Jack used. I was definitely wondering what that specific combination tasted like.
One thing I'm curious about is did everything get cooked all the way through? Did the beef get up to temp, and were the sweet potatoes cooked, or was the meat still underdone, and the potatoes crunchy?
Over the course of the 4 hours I was concerned about this myself as it never really started bubbling at all, but it seemed like everything cooked ok and the potatoes were soft.
@@HonestTries Curiosity satisfied, thank you! I'm honestly a little surprised everything cooked through, but at least that's not yet another thing wrong with this dish lol
@@patpatboy2Most things don't actually need to reach the boiling point of water to really cook all the way through
Awesome channel. Brave man. August The Duck sent me.
Also, is that Final Fantasy music?
Yes it is. Swell.
This guys a legend, we appreciate you!
That Silent Night Deadly Night 2 intro is perfection 😂😂
Love the channel. Suggestion: try some of Sandra Lee's recipes. For example: baked potato ice cream, or risotto with white chocolate.
Whoa, that sounds pretty terrible. I'll add it to the list! Thanks for watching!
You deserve a sub for treading where no other man has dared to with all these jack's recipes. Thanks for taking one for the team and answering our morbid curiosities. Also, nice music, brings back memories.
Not only is this super down to earth content, your doing something most of us have only ever dreamed of:
Following Jacks recipes.
Instant subscribe 👍
The final fantasy music definitely adds to the tension lol
16:36 I'll give you a hand, my man. It tastes like all the wrong answers to a cooking quiz
Soldier: (grimacing as he looks down at the bowl of stew) What's on Ivalice is this? Garbage stew?
Guard: (smirking) That's right. Enjoy your meal, soldier.
Soldier: (disgusted) This is unacceptable. How can you serve us this filth? Even a Chocobo would not eat that!
Guard: (shrugging) It's all we have. You should be grateful we're feeding you at all.
Soldier: (angrily) We're prisoners of war, not animals. We deserve better than this.
Guard: (scoffing) You're lucky to be alive. In war, you take what you can get.
Soldier: (resigned) I suppose you're right. But I'll never forget this humiliation.
"God, please help us sinful children of Ivalice."
This is pure gold especially the intro😅😂❤ plus the ominous music im the background
Can't wait for you to try Kay's beef wellington
I agree with your decision to stay safe. No one wants to actually watch someone eat undercooked or unsafe food, also the recipe is the recipe and cooking it properly is important even if the original recipe maker didn’t
Really love the selection of music in your videos.
I don't understand why Jack thought putting Indian Pale Ale in a stew would be delicious, that's just make it taste terrible
Loving the final fantasy tactics music in the background bro!
This is my newest favourite channel on UA-cam
First time viewer and damn, that's some dedication there. It does really show just how little skill, if any, Jack truly has.
You Should try his maple syrup Nashville hot chickens lollipops next.
The final fantasy tactics music makes the video. Jack Scalfani is indeed a Malboro.
He’s not the hero we deserve, but he’s the hero we need. Appreciate the hustle man. Keep crushing it!
Love the channel, hope to see more. You're a brave soul!
The deep sigh though 🙏🙏🙌🙌 *chef's kiss*
Came here from August the Duck. You have a new subscriber.
Really loving these videos. And the FFT music brought back so much nostalgia.
The garbage day reference caught me off guard and I laughed so hard I scared my dog 😂 good stuff, love this channel
Well, I think it's fair to say that it's living up to its name; Garbage Stew.
I am crying for all that wasted good meat though
I can't believe that this turned out worse than aunt myrna's party salad
I love the intro to the video. 😂
Correct, Honest Tries don't ever use rotten or expired food when cooking for yourself or for people. 😎👍💯
I hope no one ever does this again, it's wasting food to make something that doesn't taste good.
I felt so sorry for each and every one of those ingredients.
A heroic effort good sir! Love the editing, it's GARBAGE STEW!!!
YOOOOOO. That Final Fantasy Tactics music hit me. Greatest game ever made. That main music made me want to set up my formation rn. Ninjas, bards, Time mages, samurai, knights, archers, theres even Calculators. And what a great and deep story. Ya brought me right back to 1997. I'm sure to most viewers it's just music but to me it's a cherished childhood memory. Thank you
My end game party always has ninjas! Two Swords is just too good! It's cool to experiment around and give other classes that two sword ability too. My favorite track from the OST is "A Chapel". What's yours?
If someone was feeding you this at their dinner table you might want to give them a crash course on the Geneva Convention
Love the videos dude, we need to get you one of those "action camera" style mounts so you can use both hands though!
This guy is putting his life on the line for us. God bless.
Speaking of gulag, this reminds me of Soviet solyanka soup -- cured deli meats, beef broth, pickles, veggies, lemon. It doesn't have a bottle of IPA in it though.
Rob, I insist you buy a wall-mounted beer bottle opener for safety reasons.
EDIT: Perhaps and under-cabinet jar opener as well. I fear for your safety, sir.
Thank you for the FF Tactics music, really brightened my day.
You should try some recipes from King Cobra's food hacks
the silent night deadly night part 2 bit was incredible
4:05 "You like your hotdogs burned black"
You definitely have the spirit of jack, that's absolutely disgusting.
Just beat Tactics 9 days ago and I never would have realized the wonder that is Jack's cooking paired with the games music
Take out the green beans and corn and you might have something here
I appreciate the fact this guy is making peoples "food" and tasting it to give us a genuine answer if it really tastes good or not. much props bro.
Love that you put the FFT Soundtrack in this lol.
Pro tip: canned foods last WAY longer than their date.
I absolutely adore this channel. OG UA-cam vibes.
Edit: I am weeping for that smoked turkey. One of my favorites.
Don't worry, it came in a two pack, so the entire other leg (and the rest of this one) was eaten normally!
I love eating turkey legs. With this beard, I feel like king of the cavemen or something.
The flavours and textures must be just all over the place. I can't imagine cooking it. I'd hate to waste the food. You could use all those ingredients so much more effectively to make some tasty meals.
Thank you for your sacrifice lol. Side note, can't wait for FF Tactics Remaster. I hope it lives up to the original. My favorite FF.
Whoa, they're remastering it again? I ended up getting the one they released a few years ago for my Android on the Google Play store. It was good, but I kind of missed the poor localization of the language and also many of the in-map cutscenes were changed to videos!
@@HonestTries I agree with you. It played the same but completely destroyed the dialogue and story.
When you said “foul” I felt that brother.
Final fantasy tactics music is the chefs kiss
You are a hero. Trying this shi... dishes so we don't have is heroic.
He should of named it clean out of clogged garbage disposal
