This radio RW just showed up at his house and they went in the backyard set up their mic and their cameras and recorded him singing. The realness and ache and his voice is so moving. Keep reacting. The songwriter is trying to hit good points but is blaming the wrong people for the bad things that happen. For example, the line about obese people milking welfare is stupid and harmful. It's not obese people's fault for people starving. There is plemty of food to go around. Blame capitalism and food being too expensive for people to get. This is why welfare is even necessary.
Also the line about the dollar being taxed to no end I'm not a fan of because taxes serve an important purpose in society.
You are missing his point. He's not trying too say its the people on welfare who are at fault for homeless people not having food. Thats a disingenuous way of seeing it, and I think you know that. What he is actually saying is that people on welfare have no responsibility, either too the tax payer, nor too themselves, because the system allows them too purchase unhealthy food and consume it in amounts far in excess of what is required for their survival. They have gone from eating too live, too living too eat. This idea also goes with his next verse, about how young men in particular have chosen too just be on welfare, and not try, too the point that their own eating habits put them 6 feet under, because they die of being overweight, which is WELL known too cause MANY health issues. I would say, stop looking for a reason too be angry, and just accept the fact that some people have been living unproductive and self-harming lives. Myself included.

Are you serious? This is COMPLETELY false. An insane take. People on welfare are poor. Healthy food is expensive. And everyone eats unhealthy food, including the wealthy. The songwriter is blaming poor people for a problem that is caused by wealthy corporations.
I'm not angry lol. I'm disappointed by the crazy takes that have come about from this song, and other songs, about the same opinions.
If you are living an unproductive life, don't blame fat people for that. That's not their problem. I don't even understand your mentioning of "productivity" when that has nothing to do with this. Wealthy people are productive in harming society. Is that good? No. Being unproductive is better than being a horrible person. Poor, obese, people don't have the same resources people with money do and this is a fact. I support giving anyone welfare, medicare, SNAP benefits, etc etc who needs it and if they are under an income bracket they need it.
Lastly, it's not your place or anyone else's to decide what people eat and consume. People should be allowed to eat unhealthy food if they want to. That's apart of their freedom. Not allowing people to do that is oppression. That includes drugs, which I support decriminalizing.

We all know that “poor” people are the least of the people living off of welfare. And that’s the infuriating part! Over-taxed payers getting trampled on by a broken system that only benefits the lazy person.
