Amen! I was baptized on August 6th, 2 weeks ago as of this Sunday and I am sober 7 days now after years of heavy daily drinking. Jesus Saves, God is great. 🙏
In my sobriety I have found the aspect of replacement to be very important. There is a habitual hole in your husband right now. Fill it with good and active and fun things! And God of course ❤
"I gotta get sober, I gotta get living right, I don't know how its gonna go but it ain't gonna happen tonight!!!" I said that many times in my struggle for over 40 years and the Man upstairs set me FREE.....6 years sober August 27, 2023 by the Grace of God! Thank you for expressing your thoughts through music and making it meaningful to listen to. I don't even listen to country music and you just made me fan! Blessings.
Congratulations! I think this song will help a lot of people realize they aren't alone in this battle. It's a song from the heart from a person that's actually been through it. It's not made up lyrics for monetary reasons. I know I've started reevaluating my life a bit more since hearing this song.
This gives me chills. Being Black, in the hood, and hearing a brother from another world connecting with everything that bothers me, makes me forget we're different. Makes me remember what matters. That's love, support, and sharing emotions. Oliver, stay true my man. The world needs your soul more than ever.
We aren’t from different worlds brother. If WE would all stay true to what is in our own heads and hearts and stop being influenced by society, media, government, friends and family WE all could walk the same path. I’m an old white boy from Wyoming who spent 26 years doing crazy shit all over this planet and I managed to erase all stereotypes and judge by attitude and character only. Cross that line and I don’t care what you are I’ll handle it, everyone else I’ll do what I can to have your back.
What everyone in this country needs to realize, other countries don't see us in the different ways we Define ourselves. To everyone else in this world we are simply Americans. One People. That's why they do their best to keep us all divided because we are 331 million strong.
We need to stop seeing color and see that we are humans trying to make through the next day. We only find peace in life when we finally feel that sweet kiss of death. Let us all stand united in pain to fight back and find light in the dark
My dad passed away 2 weeks ago. He got sober about 11 years ago. When we cleaned out his apartment we found 2 guitars exactly like this one with different finishes. YT sends this as a recommended video today. Either my house is bugged or he’s trying to let me know everything will be alright 😢
@@cliftonlloyd8395if you are currently struggling with addiction. Remember you are not alone. The people in your life that care about you do not encourage you to fail. They push you to better yourself. It hurts to see you doing it to yourself. When you find your way back they will welcome you with open arms. The stuff I was on made me forget to see the good things in life. The things that made me me. I’m happily sober since 8/8/18 I lost everything and found my way back. I’ve had close calls with almost relapsing but it was because I was around people that were using and separating myself from that was what I needed to do. If anyone ever needs a person to talk to I’m a good listener.
Man I feel this deep. I always would tell myself you got to get sober but not tonight every day for 20 years of my life. Finally hit rock bottom and put the bottle down. I’m proud to say I’m 10 months sober and love every moment of it. Best decision I made. Thank you for this song. God Bless.
Three months sober and soon to be baptized. You are an inspiration brother. This whole nation needs sobriety. God will save you, if you want to be saved. And I totally understand why folks drink or smoke or pill. They’re hurting. We all are. There is only one way we get outta this mess. Thank you for your music and congratulations on your success. Be careful out there. Wolves are everywhere brother!
@@bdakin91 yes! Without Jesus showing me I can do all things, I’d be dead or in jail. He saved my mortal life, and gave me everlasting life. God bless you for sharing.
This song was one of the reasons for me to get sober, last time I used any type of drug(except for cigarettes I'm still smoking them) was 16/12/2023 I hope I am starting to live right... Thanks man
I have been watching what is going on in Canada and it is heartbreaking. Canada was always the place ppl in America thought they would flee to. God bless and stay strong.
I'm 72 hours sober right now, after drinking hard every day for many years. Thank you for this one. Update: I am officially 7 days sober today. Thank you to everyone for the incredible words of encouragement. I couldn't have done it without the strength of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. 🙏
You got this bro stay strong I'm so proud of ANYONE that gets sober don't let anyone discredit you even not drinking for a day after drinking daily for years is a HUGE accomplishment you ate stronger than you know bro
I'll pray for you friend. I'm sober 10 years and it can happen for you too. You pray for God's help and He put people in your life. Try going to a 12 step meeting. It's been keeping me going. I found God, a community of good friends who love me. I found myself in those people. Good luck and God bless.
15 years of drinking every day...I finally went to rehab and made it out sober last month. My wife decided to leave me while I was in rehab even though she supported me going and said she couldn't wait for our lives to go on with me sober once I got out. I hit the ground running to get my life back on track. So 6 weeks out of rehab, I have a job I've been working for 3 weeks and have a better job that I am finishing up the hiring process for. I got my bills all caught up, a lot of moving done, my car sorted out, and so much other stuff. I haven't taken any time for myself, and I stay busy in what little free time I have. One thing is for sure. It was a rough journey that almost killed me, but I will make the best of it this go around. Anyone who has been through it, I feel for them. It's hard to risk giving up everything knowing you might have to start over...but it's worth it. You have to save yourself first.
Nice work brother! Beautiful (but tough and i KNOW!) story. Stay strong. ❤ Much different world when you have clarity... We need you around man, so stay sharp! K?
Im a black man in North Ga and you got me, im not a big folk music listener but you got "it" man. I appreciate your music and you keeping being who you are. We been needing this for awhile now. ( We Americans that is)
@@BigLeagueDrew My opinion is that we are all programmed by the media to label ourselves and divide ourselves. It's a damn shame if you ask me. I do it too sometimes. They tell us if you are this you don't like this and it works whether we realize it or not.
I'm in the worst depression of my life right now, crying my heart out typing this because this song hits too hard. Thank you for your music, truly inspiring people like me to be better too. Thanks for sharing your heart with the world, brother!
I know how it goes, brother. Just move through the depression, eventually you'll see the light. A phrase that helped me was, "This too shall pass." Remember it doesn't last forever.
Wishing the best for you and praying for you. I know how it is brother, it will get better. Please give your pain to Jesus. God bless you, I know you can do it.
Just discovered this. My dad passed 3 months back and was a pretty hardcore alcoholic. He was a great person, but mannnnnnn alcoholism is tough. I knew he wanted to change, but couldn't and its ultimately why he's gone. Addiction sucks, thanks for the great song man. Love you dad.
i've been sober 16.5 months. i'm 53. finding God has helped so much. your song touches all the elements.. the hopelessness, the knowledge but avoidance of God, the doomed feeling. knowing you need sobriety but having a deathwish instead. hope i will get to see you play! Glen - Richmond BC Canada
Congratulations on your sobriety brother!! Proud of you. Keep doing what your doing to stay that way. I'm also 53 and it took me awhile. Several relapses and struggles but I hung in there and celebrated 12 yrs just recently. You got this man I'm rootin' for ya! 🫵🏼
Brother, I'm 56, and I've been sober since May of 08. I was a mess and got married on 11/11/11. my loving wife passed away on February 1st, 2022 To say." It's been tough" is an understatement, yet I've managed to stay sober through it. At least up till today. I don't worry about tomorrow because nobody's promise to tomorrow . it was a blood clot that took my wife from me & there was nothing I could do to save her.
It's uncanny to hear another man singing your life back to you. It's bittersweet beautiful too. I got two years dry and my Momma got to see me with a clear mind and clear eyes before she died. That was a blessing neither of us ever expected. Keep up the good work, brother. Keep standing up to the world.
Bro you said it . I'm 46 years old and just cried the same as 20 years ago when my father dropped me off at the detox and said if this don't work I don't wanna know you. Song is great
You reach into the heart and soul of those of us who've grown up in Appalachia, worked hard and find the world has kicked us to the curb. Your music is raw, honest, brilliant.
I've been a suburb kid living on the edges and metropolitan areas and just at the cusp of the country for most of my life whether it was in New Jersey or all the way down in the swamps of the Deep South...and man does this music hit me deep. Our cities were once beautiful, and our countryside was littered with small charming towns... but it's all gone, city blocks replaced with dilapidation, the woods and country speckled now with mcmansions...and these new homes are built and sold to people from up north who just bring their garbage politics and policies with em. No matter where i am, i feel like a stranger in my own home. We're all hurting out here. I got a wife and kid, yet as a man, i somehow feel like i am alone.
I'm a combat infantry Marine and did a tour in Iraq. This country is listening to you! This country needs you to keep writing and singing! And I'm here for you as well! So you keep doing your thing and we'll go through it together brother! I love you You're the man
Thank you for your service Gentlemen! I appreciate your time and sacrifice. I strongly agree with you, this worlds needs a whole lot of this beautiful music. And thank you Oliver for sharing your gift. It’s brings a warmth to my heart, truly!
Army vet here. Recently out. Still in that finding another purpose phase. This song hits hard in a special place that I know you probably understand that most others won't. Thank you for what you've done.
Thank you Sir for protecting me and my family. my nephew was planning to go into the Marines in Jan 2022 but took his own life Nov 10 2021. . it's has destroyed my entire family. I digress, Thank you Soldier! I salute you soldier and as I stand here, a Proud American who loves her country... send you love, good vibes and tons of good juju to get you thru till you get home. Thank You! Michele Brown St. Louis, MO USA
What a great song. I self medicated with alcohol, trying to deal with problems related to my military service, back in those days nobody called it PTSD or had any remedy, been sober for more than 30 years and it's still a daily struggle but i'm doing better than I was when I was drinking, Thank you Mr. Anthony for sharing your talent and message.
Oops! Almost forgot. The V.A. helped put Humpty back together again , back in 2009. At that time I felt the nightmares would never end, but they did. Still don't sleep too good, but no longer jump up drenched in sweat. Grateful.
@@davidfly254 Thank you for your service. In 1976 i was conscripted and served during the Angolan Bush/Border war, got my honorable. discharge in 1987.
I just went to the VA for the first time and got out in '07. I came back from Iraq 2 months before I discharged and hit the bottle for the next 15 years. I got sober on my own and at the 6 month mark I decided to seek help from the VA as it became apparent I had some other problems I treated alcohol with. The VA gets a bad wrap but they have been great to me. I wish I'd done it sooner so I could have some of my youth back.
First time tonight that I've heard this song! I'm amazed!Describes me personally... I'm stil drinking unfortunately but I've gave my soul to the Lord Jesus Christ the Messiah! God bless you all!
I tryed 3 times to quite drinking before I finely did almost a decade ago... you can do it don't give up ... keep fighting minute to minute then hour to hour soon its days... our heavenly father hears our prayers, I will pray for you...
@@timwhitney5288 Thanks Brother! His will be done! I'm not "hard alcoholic" anymore, but even these few cans at night is starting to bother me...Lord already helped me a lot! Praise God!
Gotta tell you bud, I've struggled with addiction almost all my life. I'll be 40 in a few days and I'm sober for a few good years now. I've found that I fail every single time my my Jesus DOES NOT. That's just my testimony and you are amazing sir!
Congratulations on being sober! One day at a time. I've got a sister who's been sober for 20 years now. My baby brother, unfortunately, couldn't get sober and died from an OD 2 years ago, at the age of 24. It's a club I never wanted to belong to, the "losing a sibling" club. Addiction affects everyone....during their addiction, and unfortunately, afterwards too. Keep keeping on. You've got this!
My hubby got sober finally 2 years before he passed. He would have loved this song. It’s a hell of a fight to get there. To anyone & everyone fighting a battle…NEVER GIVE UP! I’m so thankful my hubby didn’t give up, got clean & got to know his grandkids. If you can’t keep fighting for yourself, fight for those you love 💕 If you need support, comment here. I’ll check the comments & I’ll bet other supporters will too. 🤗 Baby steps y’all, baby steps…but ya gotta keep steppin forward. You can do it! You’re stronger than you know. Just keep taking baby step forward. God bless you all
@@Dw00045I’ll say it’s different for everyone, but facing the trauma from our lives I think is a great first step. What trauma got you where you are currently? Finding a helping hand to hold is also a huge help. Going to drug court & getting counseling helped my hubby on his journey to sobriety.
I was set free of methadone about 9 weeks ago. Your music makes tears roll, as it hits home like a detonated bomb brother! Rich men is now one of my favorite songs. Thank you for your timing and down to earth mentality.
I’m free from pills and this song makes me tear up and feel the Love of Jesus in my heart ❤️ your just a wonderful singer and songwriter. Please make a million more songs, our country needs em! And I Really need em. Thank you sir
Musicians don't make it, unless they play the game. This man doesn't want to play anyone's game. I did just hear that John Rich offered him the ability to professionally record his song and distribute. I pray they don't run it.
My UA-cam suggestions below his videos is filled with musicians doing this same song just with different lyrics and different voice. He's not special in that aspect.
He doesn't fit the "narrative".... rest assured he doesn't care about narrative! Someone will pick him up to open for concerts, but you won't find him on mainstream TV or radio because of the snowflakes..
When the pupil is ready, the teacher will appear. I feel that God brought Oliver to us when we were ready to receive him and his music. He tells stories of the common man and woman who struggle daily just to pay the bills and eat. Who can’t afford to go to a fancy detox clinic to get sober. By Gods grace I’m 10 years sober and I thank God every day. John Rich will help this young man stay true to himself. John is a good man and an amazing patriot. May God bless you Oliver and may we be blessed with your music.
I have been a hard drinker my entire life pretty much. I’m just over a year sober, not one drop of the poison. This song speaks to me at this point and I like it a ton. To all of you struggling, grab a fishing rod and drift out into the great wide open. Mother Nature has cured more of my insides, along with music like this.
Now that I have heard of Oliver Anthony, I can't stop listening. He sings songs that I can relate to. I've been clean and sober for more than 35 years now and I'm baptized now. KEEP IT COMING OLIVER!! 💯♥️🇺🇸🎯
God sent us his son to lead us against the evil and fight the spiritual war humanity was in. 2023 years later, God sent us this man for the same reason. I truly believe Rich men north of Richmond is our battle cry. It is meant to bring us together. To give us strength to fight this war that only their side is fighting. Are you ready? It will take all of us to defeat the devil and his cabal and the committee of 300 who serve them.
As for the religious crowd who is here partly because of the nature of the song and partly because its a country vibe. But I just wanna say we have some differences; despite that we have a lot in common. One of my favorite artists of all time beat alcoholism and heroine addiction. And he said "The day I let go of being too rebellious/punk/atheist/anarchist/badass/etc to accept the help being offered in those places was the first day of my life. Today I am free. I might not be tomorrow. Let's not waste time being too damn cool to have a good life. In love and solidarity" So he like myself is an atheist. But accepting help in a 12 step program saved his life. We share a lot in common when it comes to values and common humanity. And I always hope that people don't write off people like myself who are atheist. Because I can tell you we fight a common struggle against communists, socialists, and dangerous ideas and (substances too) that destroy millions of lives. I believe some Christians have said "God writes morality on your heart" Or something like that. Basically when I tell you them I have sense of right and wrong that comes from within (and guilt when I do bad things). They say god wrote these things on our hearts. I don't believe any of that, but I just like to say your my ally if you stand against totalitarianism and for freedom. And I hope we can learn from each other in the resistance of evil powerful people who want more power for themselves. Like I was saying we share a common humanity. And I hope that people of many different religions or lack thereof can live in peace together and work together against evil in the world. Peace Peace everyone.
@@Zero-pe3iqI appreciate your thoughtful comment. My last drink was Feb 13, 2004, and I did rely on the power of the Lord to set me free (through working the 12 Steps) but I do believe there are other paths to sobriety. Even so, I want to offer a challenge to you because whether you believe it or not, your eternity is on the line. Your challenge- Say, “Jesus, if you are who you say you are, reveal yourself to me in such a way that I can no longer deny your existence.” Of course, you have to be open and honest as you say this, but if you are… watch out because your life will change. What do you have to lose? He will show up. Christians aren’t against atheists. You are our target audience, so to speak. Jesus loves you so much you can’t even fathom it.
@@kykategray Thanks. I don't believe in magic or things you can't see. You know like you have to be able to see it and also to study it. You have to know what things are. Just because your see something doesn't mean it is what you think. (Hallucinations are an issue. Dreams also are bad place for data since your brain created the experience of the dream.) And no dead people are gonna help me out. Thanks though. I'm pretty sure your being kind. Also I sure hope Christians aren't against me. That's how I was raised and I've always been around them. Its just I haven't believe any of that in a long time. Some people are very hateful towards atheists. (less common these days) Good that you aren't of course.
I'm sharing your songs. I'm a 68 year old grandma, but young at heart. I hear you and been in so many hard times but never have I seen the world and our country in the mess it is in now. Praying hard for it to turn around…your messages are real and You hit the nail on the head in all you say and sing about. God Bless you you have a great voice. And yes the children are what we need to fight for. They are coming after our kids, make no bones about it.
I'm 66 next week andshared with my lovely ginger sin in law. I can relate and allowed myself to cry when I heard Rich men north of richmond today. ❤ So true of us all now Im finally awake, the terror has chqnged to being sick and tired of it. 🇬🇧 He is the Trump of Country Music
Im about 9 months sober, dealt with trauma through drugs and it landed me in a much worse place, im lucky to be alive and this song speaks to me deeply, much love to everyone, were all fighting our own battles and I hope yall can find happiness within yourself no matter who you are, the division in this world is tearing us apart, thank you chris for uniting us with your beautiful music
Everyone is talking about the richmond song, but seriously, this needs more awareness. This is the song that sets us free, and I feel it in your tone. Thank you for sharing with us.
As a heroin addict who is celebrating 5 years clean you can’t imagine how much this song means for everyone like me! Keep it going brother I absolutely love every song I’ve heard from you… a true force in music today when real music is hard to find!
Congratulations my sober brother You keep pushing! Keep being of service to others and do what is right and just. Wake up everyday with intentions to be a better human being than the day before. Random acts of kindness without any expectation for praise. ❤
Proud of you! I'm on my 25th anniversary and every year it blows my mind I'm still clean. Being clean on the long haul is a helluva accomplishment that often doesn't get much recognition
I suffer from sever depression, anxiety and bipolar. It was made so much worse with the pandemic and the state of this country. Trying to make it from paycheck to paycheck. I've been clean since 2016 and by God's Grace I was able to remain sober thru this nightmare. Keep on writing and singing. You'll bring hope to so many. Thank you for sharing😊
Stay strong 💪🏻 ❤ you’re worth it. And there’s people like us in this country lots of us who care about each other don’t let the media and propaganda get to you. Sending you a big hug 🤗
I’m a 70 year old man and your music really touches my heart and I’m sure it does every one else’s I am looking forward to getting your first album and going to your first concert because that’s exactly where you’re headed!! Love your work .
Set em up! Y’all need some Hank Williams Sr in your lives to understand this here song, not the op obviously, & Sir I’m 55, haven’t heard the like since I was a boy
Balm on a wound for a guy who lost his dad to alcoholism when he was 38 and I was 10. Thank you, Oliver, for helping me take that next step on my 40+ year journey of forgiveness and for reminding me that it's okay to cry. Your lyrics and delivery are therapy for me and clearly for so many. Godspeed on your journey and take good care of yourself.
Proud of you, and God bless. Life can be so brutal, but the best lessons are learned that way, so long as you never give up. Well done, and best wishes! I pray for your continued peace and prosperity. 🙏💚👊
Admitting it is the hardest part. I couldn't imagine ever saying the words, I'm an alcoholic. But I was and as soon as I admitted it, my life changed. I'm coming up on 4 years without a drop of alcohol. There's been a lot of heartache in our country the past few years and I've had two close family members die and I would have never before believed that I could stay sober through it all but I realize I got sober just in time. If I would have continued drinking through the heartache, I would have drank myself to death. Don't give up. You can do it if you want to. ❤️
It's called AMERICAN, We all have that in common! no matter your color, gender, religious belief or anything else they try to convince us that separates us. You will do good YOU HAVE TO WANT IT, Faith isn't just religious, It can be had in oneself. Believe you will do better and want it. Good luck my friend Stay strong and believe in yourself.
I was a drunk for many years and quit. Been sober 20 years now and feel blessed. I could not have done it without the Lord. If I could do it, anyone can.
He’s already trucking with Jesus, I think but all of this chaos generated by both the left and right has to be producing massive stress. Each side is trying to twist his words and music into some kind of endorsement of their agenda. He’s turned down an $8 Million dollar record deal and I’m sure he knows that THAT kind of money doesn’t benefit addictions of any kind. He needs to hold tight to Jesus and he’ll make it.
This song hits so hard! I've been battling my alcohol addiction for 30+ years. A year sober, 8 years sober and everything in between. I know one day God will release me from this cycle of addiction... if I don't do it my damn self before the time comes. Thank you brother for giving REAL music back to us again!
One thing I realized recently after a long period of being upset with God, is that sometimes while we are waiting on him to intervene, He’s waiting us to stand up and reach for where He is. Take a couple of steps forward, and He’ll handle the rest.
I just got out of detox about 2 hours ago. 7 days ago I was so out of my mind on alcohol and drugs and completely lost. I had been isolating and filled with deep depression. Now that I am home and have a clear mind, I realized that I wasn't seeking Jesus like I should, And I was allowing darkness to completely consume me. Well no more!!! Those seven days I had my head buried in my Bible and I cried out on that hard floor in that detox room And I felt God's presence in a way that I never had because I never allowed him too connect to me. I didn't realize how much I had been shutting him out. The song hit me to my core when I heard it a few weeks ago and while I was still getting drunk daily, it planted a seed inside my heart along with many other moments that led me to walking into detox and choosing life over complete ruin. Thank you for using your platform to connect people and help them not feel alone. Also to find a relationship to God ❤
May our good Lord protect, guide, comfort, and heal you and all people of good will. Listen, I am just a stranger over the internet, not more special than any other, but I give you permission to draw on my strength, positive energy, courage, and willpower when you've run out of those things yourself. Blessings to you, my sister.
I’m still struggling with the drink and this song hits me just right. I continually pray to move forward and dream of a sober day to be a better father and husband. God bless you brother!
Keep working at it brother just keep looking forward one day at a time and don't look backwards, because what's done is done. I am going through the exact same thing. I was doing a good job of destroying my relationship with my wife and children. I am now heading in the right direction with the help of my wife and children and their love and compassion. I truly hope you have people around you to help as I have.
As a 64 year old retired musician someone at work told me to look you up today Chris you are a breath of fresh air to this Dying World I've been sober 5 years this July God got me sober to take care of my sister before she passed then I was ready to take care of my mother before she passed all in the last 2 years stay true to your word don't let the media get you down put on your whole armor of God.
That takes a strong man to overcome those things to take care of your family. Remain strong and take care of yourself, Chris. I pray you find peace and strength in the name of Jesus Christ 🙏
At 68, I've been sober since March 7th, 1996, when I accidently killed my best dog from a stupid mistake. It almost killed me, too, but God saw fit to spare me, with help from my local VA hospital, and I thank Him for that. I thank you for reminding me of the value and achievement of sobriety all over again. Keep writing, you inspire us all to be better, one day at a time. Peace.
2-6-95 here. Whiskey down the hatch, then Tango and Foxtrot? I was the greatest dancer back them, lol! V.A. sorted me out too, brother. They helped put Humpty back together again. Glad we backed out of that Pitful and Incomprehensible Demoralization zone. Blessings to u, friend. O.d.a.a.t. 🎉😊
Im 28 and found your music only a week ago from Rich Men, currently drunk and have been almost every night for years. Been considering aa for a bit but working step by step to get it together for now. This song brought some tears and I thank you for being a light.
Yes, his style takes you back to a simpler time in life or it does me. Takes me back to my roots. Hope he keeps the songs coming because I'm loving his music.
I come from a long line of alcoholics. It took my mother and father from me by the time I was 24. My now fiance has been sober for the first time in his life for a year now because I fought to show him he could overcome it and I loved him when he couldn't love himself. I'm telling you, this song absolutely brought both of us to tears. I can't express the appreciation we have for all of your work.
When someone wants to know what Love is this it: " My now fiancee has been sober for the first time in his life for a year now because I fought to show him he could overcome it and I loved him when he couldn't love himself.:" 💔❤🩹 Your story brought me to tears. Thank you for sharing it. God bless you as you continue this walk together on this path of Sobriety.💝
Brother....I feel you! I'm deep and tired of not living sober...I want Jesus in my life, I want to serve Him! Lord help us all! Thank you for giving us your music as it's moving mountains! God Bless you and yours my friend!
May God touch you & heal your mind spirit and body & Soul ❤ God is the answer just remember this. The evil wants to keep you down Rebuke satan in Jesus Name demand satan to flee you now! I pray God will lift you give you the strength to overcome

Hi Anthony. I just found your YT channel. I'm so glad you wrote and sang this song. I just got sober in April with the Lords help. 🙏 Keep relying on the Lord in Jesus name. He's got your back for life now. God Bless
It’s a bucking bull so hang on and enjoy the ride because I can promise you this - IT IS WELL WORTH THE FIGHT! Like I said it’s a beast , it will beg , plead and try to deal its way outta its cage once you get it “under control “ - DO NOT let it out the cage once it’s out because it’ll fight 3x’s harder to go back in BUT IF IT HAPPENS- FIGHT , fight to re-cage it because life only gets better sober and only goes down when your not. I’ll be praying for you , you got this.
Mannnn I preciate this music fr. It just soothes the soul. Keep doing y’all man everything will get better. I’m trying to get sober now but man it’s hard…..
Congratulations to all who have overcome their burdens. I think it was Pastor Jack Hibbs who lovingly said that what God wants us to do is to give Him (Jesus) our burden, then get out of his way & actually let Him handle it. We can't do God's job for him, we're like toddlers trying to help Dad fix the car, which is adorable, but takes way too much time to finally getting the engine running again. We just wanna help Daddy, is all. I've paraphrased, of course, but his message was spot on. Let God.
17 years sober, and i still remember the pain. Every day i remember the pain, my life improves. Now joy is my life. This song brings that reflection to me.
I've been an alcoholic since 17. I'm 36 and still drink every day.. I used to be anti christianity, but I've been trying to get right with God for almost a year now. This song really spoke to me tonight my brother. Thanks for being awesome! God bless you. I pray that your music helps more people like me. Thank you Jesus! Praise his Holy name
Oliver you are one hell of a man. I got sober 8 years ago and it was the hardest battle I've ever had. You got this brother and I'm so proud of you. Even if you have a slip up, get back on the horse and do it again, and again, until it sticks. You are strong, there's no shame in being weak at times.
Man... half a world away in the Netherlands your music still resonates... you're the voice this generation needs, keep it up. The Lord bless you and keep you!
The first time I heard Oliver sing, I knew his heart was in the words of his music. I knew he was special. The raw honesty and emotion really touched me. He is a real man for all of us, he expresses what we want to say out loud.
It doesn’t matter which song you sing. You sing . I listen. I really listen. I relate. It’s the most amazing thing I’ve experienced lately outside of watching my kids grow up. The feelings I feel from your music are feelings I haven’t felt from music in a very long time. Thank you.
AMEN BROTHER. GOD LOVES US MORE THAN WE CAN IMAGINE. HE SENT HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON TO DIE FOR OUR SINS AND EVEN WHEN WE FALL SHORT HE DOESN'T. EVEN IF I DIE AND IM NOT SOBER HE SAVED MY SOUL. WE CAN NEVER BE PLUCKED FROM HIS HAND OR SEPARATED FROM HIS LOVE. WE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. TO HIM WHO WORKS NOT BUT BELIEVES ON THE ONE WHO JUSTIFIES THE UNGODLY HIS FAITH IS COUNTED AS RIGHTEOUSNESS. BLESSED IS THE MAN WHOM GOD WON'T IMPUTE SIN. WE MAY KNOW WE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE BECAUSE WE HAVE BELIEVED ON THE NAME OF THE SON OF GOD. WE HAVE BELIEVED THE RECORD GOD GAVE OF HIS SON. GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER ❤✝️
This dude is the Johnny cash of our time, and this song is up there with the best who ever lived, it's crazy to see him shoot through the stars so quickly, a shooting star amongst vast abyss.
Brother, I know you’re focused on following the light but you need to know that you’re resonating and softening the hearts of God’s children from all across the spectrum of lifestyles. You are preaching and God has opened ears to hear. Keep following the light. God bless!
Procrastination and endless excuses had me stuck in that trap. I thought about sobriety a million times before I finally said goodbye to alcohol for good, and I'm thankful everyday that I did! Great song!!! Life is so much better when you are truly there to experience it... and you realize that you have beaten the habit and that you also have the power now to STAY clean! 👍
I just found you today and I cannot stop listening to this song, it really hits close to home as I am a combat vet with severe PTSD. If I could have put my everyday into a song, this would be it. You Sir, are going places! Keep singing from your heart and there will be amazing things in your not-to-distant future.
I can't get over how much i feel this song.. I'm going on 12 years sober and still feel the pain from the day I decided to get off the bottle. You helped awaken a part of my soul that needed to be free. You've helped me find my own voice and I'll forever be in your debt. I hope that your song finds everyone that needs to hear it.
Just seeing this tonight, celebrating 19 years free of the poison. You have a gift brother that touches souls. Thanks for blessing us all by pouring your heart into your music.
My mom died last October, she struggled with alcohol for a very long time, and after years of pain and hospital visits her body couldn’t take anymore, she passed away 2 months before my first baby was born. She was 44 and even with all the pain she caused me my whole life, I loved her very much, I still miss her everyday, and I know my daughter would’ve loved her too. Thank you for sharing this song; I hope I get to meet you someday. -Dante Houck
I love the fact that artists like you have a platform here. Music like this connects with people. It's the roots of this country. It's real. It's raw. It's honest. 💚
I am not American and I am not Christian, but I believe that there is a meaning to our lives. This meaning is to do what we can to be better people. Your songs express this in a honest, straightforward and beautiful way. They have an universal message about them. I hope that you will keep on writing and signing the truth the way you feel it. Thank for doing this.
@spazemfathemcazemmeleggymi272 Thank you for your kind hearted advice. I have a lot of respect for the message of Jesus and I also respect devout Christians as long as they truly follow the teaching of their Lord. But I am doing fine with my personal religious inclinations, and I am working for my spiritual betterment in my own way. I think that if there's a God, then he already knows me better than I know myself and if need be He will guide me where I must go. If I have to find Jesus, then I will.
@@mouradsabri4869 Then surely you understand that those who truly seek Him will find him, I play this is the case for you, and as I said, do not wait too long to save yourself.
I am 75 days sober today. I found this song along the way and listen to it regularly. You have helped in ways I cant explain. Thank you for doing what you do. Update - Today is 6 months. I would like to thank everyone for your kind words. It does get easier with time. Some days I don't even think about it, other days I will be tested. I know I made the right decision in stopping, I just have to remember that every time it crosses my mind. If you're thinking about stopping for good and need a little push, 2 books that have helped me the most are "the small book" by Jack Trimpey, and "the easy way to control alcohol" by Allen Carr. Stopping is worth it.
I can't believe there were no replies to your comment. First of all, congratulations. It isn't easy. Not even close to easy. It takes bravery, grit, determination and introspection of the soul. Although we don't know each other, some things make universal connections of human emotion and struggle. I want you to know I'm proud of you.
one day at a time man. i just broke 2 days sober tonight. not alot but i dont feel like i can do this with my job and all the drama in the country. perhaps i just act cowardly.
That’s awesome man! I’ll be up there with you here soon hopefully. This life we’ve made for ourselves gets old very quick, I’m looking forward to the days of being happy because it’s just a good day too be happy. You got this man don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. WE got this.
@@billfrank471No man you are not acting cowardly. Addiction turns thoughts into parasites and then you find yourself reasoning with yourself to do whatever it is your choice of drug because of any inconvenience, the only thing that makes it better is time and I know that’s cliche but time is the best healer. The first 2 weeks are generally the worst physically but more so mentally, the metal part is what gets you especially if you don’t have anything to keep your mind busy. You got this man, don’t beat yourself up so much about breaking your streak that just comes with the territory unfortunately. The main thing is you recognize what the problem is and that right there shows that you’re mentally aware and not in denial cause your thoughts are clouded. Just make it your goal to get through everyday, I feel setting goals which isn’t a bad thing it also sets you up for failure just focus on getting through the present day and before you know it a week will have passed then 2 & 3 and so on. You got this my man!

Nice song, brother. I've been sober now since 2006, getting to know God is a beautiful thing. It's not easy, but it's well worth it.
God bless YOU!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It’s a life second to none for me
Congratulations
Good for you, man -- that's some hard work you've done, with some help!
So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song. How are you?
And he said "The day I let go of being too rebellious/punk/atheist/anarchist/badass/etc to accept the help
being offered in those places was
the first day of my life.
Today I am free. I might not be tomorrow. Let's not waste time being too damn cool to
have a good life.
This is the most beautiful, painful song for anyone who struggles to get sober. God bless you Anthony.

Just remember. You are not alone. There are millions of us that feel the way you feel. We are in this together...

I suffer from sever depression, anxiety and bipolar. It was made so much worse with the pandemic and the state of this country. Trying to make it from paycheck to paycheck. I’m an alcoholic, just admitted it and joined AA. Struggling. Thanks for your music ❤ I love all of these comments. We’re all connected in some way
Good luck! Just keep it one day at a time! You got it!
Good luck, stay strong
I wish you the best! You will make it...oh you will make it ! ! !
It's called AMERICAN, We all have that in common! no matter your color, gender, religious belief or anything else they try to convince us that separates us.
You will do good YOU HAVE TO WANT IT, Faith isn't just religious, It can be had in oneself. Believe you will do better and want it. Good luck my friend Stay strong and believe in yourself.
the sounds of the birds in the background add an effect that just makes this whole song so hauntingly beautiful.
I was a drunk for many years and quit. Been sober 20 years now and feel blessed. I could not have done it without the Lord. If I could do it, anyone can.
Blessings to you!
2 years and been struggling to stay on the wagon...
This is awesome . Great job
@@molnar93 I shifted gears 6 years ago and through the grace of Jesus was able to get the talons pried loose. Stay strong brother!
This song hits so hard! I've been battling my alcohol addiction for 30+ years. A year sober, 8 years sober and everything in between. I know one day God will release me from this cycle of addiction... if I don't do it my damn self before the time comes. Thank you brother for giving REAL music back to us again!
You just said it! Real music!
One thing I realized recently after a long period of being upset with God, is that sometimes while we are waiting on him to intervene, He’s waiting us to stand up and reach for where He is. Take a couple of steps forward, and He’ll handle the rest.
Quitter!!

Let God.
Amen to that. ❤

Thank you for your kind hearted advice.

@@billfrank471I hope you're 4 days now! Happy Thanksgiving
The passion in your songs is incredible. Jesus is always there for you and I guarantee your music is helping so many people.
Amen ✝️ I agree.
Danke für die tollen Songs von dir. Sitze oft im Garten und genieße deine Musik. Sie gibt mir Kraft in unserem trostlosen Land. Mach weiter so. Schönen Gruß aus Deutschland 👍👌
Brother we hear your message from across the pond. Keep writing, the world is listening. ❤
Amen
@@robertbalian7538 Yup, I feel like this is what we need. Real folk music from a real Christian dude. No A&R men getting in the way, just music like it was meant to be. From the heart.
Amazing talent. I can’t stop listening. That’s a voice that can only be given by God.
All voices can only be given by god i mean
And crying. 🙏🇺🇸
You can hear nature kick up at his singing.. breathtaking.... My heart goes to everyone who has dealt with addiction ❤
Thank you brother it’s harder than people think I’m a survivor let’s keep it going for our fellow Americans
Let's keep fighting :)@@jonathanoakley979
Thank you....I went 7 years sober completely....😢 about a year ago my excuse personal reasons but....only on the weekends when I'm off work huh?? I don't want to do this anymore.....
Be easy on yourself ♥ .. what most people fail to understand is that addiction and alcoholism or substance abuse is a cognitive and psychophysical disorder or disease like any other... the same way you go and get medication for flu,, one should also seek medical help for addiction@@amieswisher7806
@@amieswisher7806 you don't have to, you can survive it. Believe me, I should have been dead a long time ago.
This is me. I wanna get sober, but with the shit that life has dealt me, pour it out strong. Thank you! I love all of your songs.
I’m so glad this guy’s winning. He so deserves it. Earnest and heartfelt music’s finally being pushed to the front of our culture!
The locust hiss was PERFECT. Both in timing and duration. Even nature rocks/vibes with this man's music!
I heard/noticed it too… perfection.
That god behind him
Just over a week sober today. This song describes it on point. I've never felt better.
Bless you! God wants you to be free. 🙏❤️
On 10/4 I will have 2 years sober and I love what Oliver puts out.
❤❤❤❤
How you doing now? Dont worry about if you relapsed, we all do
I was not expecting replies, thank you all very much. I'm still sober.
Never stop man!! You sing about real issues that real people go through and it helps. Thank you
