I have one that is about 5 years old and I love it so much. The bloom is lovely and they stay nicer looking than azaleas all year. As you say, it keeps a good shape without much work at all. I am in 7b. Never had a problem with pests or disease.

Great video! We live in far South Mississippi. Zone 9A. I want to grow hawthorn as a medicinal plant. I work at a local nursery, and have a few of These. I was thinking I didn’t want This variety, but your have just convinced me that it would be ideal. After this years drought we need to replace the shrubs around the mailbox, which has perfect soil for this plant and I one of the areas that winds up being fairly neglected. Just perfect! Thank you!

Can you use the leaves for tea?

@@praynxs9249 I have not done that. The leaves taste like mild spinach, so I am not sure I would like that tea, but it certainly won’t hurt you.

Hi. Struggling a bit with new Eleanor Taber I.H. plants. I planted them as instructed in our front hedge area where we had a freeze that killed some regular I.H. plants we had. N. TX area. The instructions said to keep them moist for first season, and than after that infrequently watering as you say. So I set my sprinkler on 1 minute spray in the hedge area each morning. And we check it with a hydrometer that it's in the green zone and not overly wet. But, the problem I'm seeing is, of the three plants, there is one that is partially shaded by a small ornamental tree next to it and the other two are direct sun. The one that is partially shaded looks very happy with dark green leaves. The other two have much paler leaves and some are turning brown and dying apparently. For more than a month it simply looked like those two were wilting. I don't like the direction those two are headed. And we've had a particularly hot May this year with very little rain. Although we got a couple of inches a week ago. My wife thinks they are simply getting too much sun and those two may need some shading for part of the afternoon, as the front of our house get's the most sun from noon to 6 pm. Any thoughts?

I have Indian hawthorn shrubs that are flowering and have grown out of control. I want to cut them back knowing this is not the time of year to do this. I have one shrub that has a dead area near the top. I have tried treating it with fungicide to no avail. What can I do about this? Will pruning ruin my shrubs?

I have been redoing my front yard. Looking for easy to maintain flowering plants. In Central Florida here we get lots sun and heat in the afternoon in Summer. Then there is a ton of rain that follows that heat. So I wonder if this plant will do well here.

I'm in the SF Bay Area. If this is the plant I have it grows really fast. There's a row of 4 of them in space in front of porch which is 6.5 feet by 2.5 feet. I don't let it flower because I want it to stay small. I don't have shrub trimmers so I use hand pruners and butcher the plant. Hah! I know, I'm a hawthorn killer. OK so it ALWAYS grows back really quickly. I need to move them. The previous owner put 4 of them in such a small space.

You say in the video that Eleanor Taber Indian Hawthorn reaches 2' to 3' feet in height, but several other nurseries say it grows 3' to 4' in height. Will it grow 3' to 4' in height if I fertilize it more? Ideally, I would like it if it would reach 4' in height so that it reaches just to the bottom of my front window.

+BecherFamily I'm sure it would, but most of the growth is in width so it will take a while.
