I'm always amazed at how you provide such a meticulous and detailed analysis of such minor differences whilst maintaining a normal life, it's like all you need to do is play one game to get all you need to know. I don't know about you mate, but playing PES 2021 season update with all the stadium/kits etc with manual passing, whilst very challenging, provided the most fun, realistic and satisfying on the field gameplay I've ever experienced. I'm sorry Spoons that Konami didn't grab the bull by the horns when they had the chance. I felt as if they were heading towards a souls like difficulty of gameplay giving players the ultimate reward, similar to how Rocket League players have to practice for hours just to master one technique. I'd be interested, if you have the time, to hear your take on what ruined the football gaming industry (despite the obvious monetisation), where and when you think it went wrong and what future solutions could be provided. To me, as a fan and a fellow Brit, I feel that kind of video essay would be well worth watching and you're talent of delivering information is wasted. If Konami would have done their job, you'd get the recognition you deserve. As an Englishman living in Japan in pains me to see Konami throw away such potential. Winning 11 has become Losing 0 right when they had it in their grasp. I've always enjoyed your videos, especially the modding tutorials, but maybe it's time you used your excellent talent to provide an in-depth analysis of just how good of a game Pro Evolution Soccer was, minus the commentary and homoerotic goal celebrations. Peace out brother, come on England! Thank you for being such a down to earth, genuine and likeable bloke.

Its going to take some years for soccer games to adapt to new generation consoles. The more technology, the more robotic. I decided to purchase an xbox 360 along with pes 16 and pes 18. Players are fast and way more fun to play . Also i have pes 2019 on PS5 and its amazing . I no longer play any other soccer game besides of the ones i previously mentioned.
Make an improved PES 21, add master league, profit. How hard can it be Konami?

There is also one more thing, but since no one has mentioned it I guess it is just me...
When playing against a human opponent who has a team made out of legends cards exclusively you can be the dominant in the possession, you can have better vision, but the moment you lose possession it is going to be a matter of simple pass and run that will throw out of game your entire team in a way I would simply describe as comic. 😂
It does not matter what formation/player profile / tactic you use. I've tried formations with 5 defensive players but still when it is time for you to "swim" there is nothing you can do about it. Even if you would be able to defend with 9 defensive players all the times I believe it would be the same. Absolute no control over your AI co-player movement. I often get under the impression that AI gets incredibly stupid as your teammate, but on the other hand in the same situations it starts to play as a superstar when you play against AI on legend level, and that goes even in the case when playing against a team that is far weaker than yours. The difference in these two cases is obvious as night and day. I would dare to say it is a dumb and dumber contest when it comes to AI in my team. Controller over it is minute.

You will definitely not be able to pull out one of the mentioned "superstar" performances with a weaker team against a human opponent who somewhat knows how to play and has team built out of superstars.
The movement of your players in defense in that case will get mediocre and the worst part is that you will have very little or no control over it. You can always try to switch to a player that is doing the wrong thing, but then the previously selected player will start to move in a direction you don't want. Simply put, there are a lot of things going on and you have partial control over it. It is possible to somewhat reduce the damage, but still it is far from perfect. So far I like the Co-op mode the best since then you can have more than one human per team and thus it is possible to introduce more logic into your team players movement, but if you play against opponents who have one of those all-star teams and they somewhat know what they are doing the game can turn into a boring "run and gun" contest quite fast, aka straight long runs where opponent players feel like robots, without exception. One thing is especially annoying in such cases, a deflected ball that always happens as a perfect assist for your opponent and no matter what you try to do to stop it it will happen over and over again. It is like who buys will be rewarded policy and nowadays the majority has teams built out of legends since it is easier to play like that. Unfortunately I think this has resulted in a game that is becoming more and more difficult to be truly enjoyed since the versatility is getting sacrificed in favor of KONAMI being able to earn some extra mullah.
I find Spooney to be quite hilarious when in his videos he goes about how he can understand KONAMI's decision to make game physics to be in certain ways. According to him, if I get him right, they are doing it with purpose to make things more "fair" in online human vs human matches. What a joke 😂😂😂
It is simply a good all sales pitch.
But who can blame them, it is their game. Still as I said I find the game to be somewhat enjoyable in Co-op mode, especially if you can master passing level 4. Unfortunately fully manual passing can be quite clunky in this game.
So there you have it, my own totally blown out of proportion opinion about this game that has nothing to do with the reality and how the game feels right now.
I wish for love and pizza (instead of prosperity) for all of you, even for KONAMI'S eFootball developers

Once a year, I download the latest efootball, give it a try and then uninstall it. For someone that played every iteration since ISS Football circa 1994 or so. Konami destroyed what made the game great and unique. ...efootball is and has been a disaster. It's the esports version of Disney star wars. .. how to kill a franchise
The glory years are well, truly over mate, eFootball will never reach the heights of the PES/ISS due to the removal of player ID. eFootball is a glorified mobile game on console, I bet they removed player ID because it would've been too difficult to code on mobile.
True mate, I don't think they could code their way out of a wet paper bag. To sacrifice a cash cow for an untested platform and not segregate after the initial failure is criminal . And don't get me started on the Menu Gui and it's lack of intuitive design (and English).

Definitely not a nostalgia merchant. I played the game religiously day on day, version after version. EFootball is the poorest in terms of what i listed below, of any version of PES/ISS .But, I tried it and didn't like it. May try again.The games mechanics, physics, menu and game options still didn't make sense. Yes, it's always going to be different, game engine new generation etc.... The game play was not for me. With every new version there's always a new hope.
Remember the feeling of control PES gave you? Remember how every goal felt unique. That’s gone. This is a soulless mobile game.
I know that people, especially hardcore pes fans are mad at efootball, but for me they are into right direction. The gameplay, graphics has improved than PES 21. I agree about lack of offline modes and basically no authentic club teams, hopefully they unlock them or at least sell them. Major things for Konami to improve efootball are: more licenses (more top premier league clubs, La liga, bundesliga), graphics, more pvp events, menu and presentation. Otherwise, it is quite good football game.

4 Years ago i thought Pes 25 would be absolutely incredible on the ps5 because 21 was great on the ps4... now we have this shit and eafc floating ball😢
As the gameplay is now, after the latest update, it's definitely worth writing home about. The graphics also seem a bit crisper. I'm enjoying the current version.

Passes still feel weird, they can't even make a proper pass in the right direction for situation which is so obvious. Players gets stunned often. For me, defense still needs to be nerfed. Most defender can easily catch up the faster attackers.
Apart from not fixing the issues of, statuesque defending when opponents scored from the crosses, through ball ghosted pass defenders instead of the clearance, cannot perform the dribbles because of none of the blatantly aggressive challenges were given fouls, players hiding behind the opposition instead of coming for the ball in possession football and designed to give the ball away with the AI movements unless have to put the ball out of play, override the passing direction irrespective of the settings, missing one on one and hitting the post on open goal with match-fixing scripts, allowing providential opponents to score from any angles and anywhere on the pitch, similar opponents having ability to play faster than the ball and able to intercepted five yards in standing position, whenever broken through oppositions spaces, players became quadriplegic until their defenders got back to the spaces, other than that, it's an update.
PES21 with mods still a much better game.
I play against my brothers and one of them likes to push players from behind to get the ball and 9/10 it's not considered a foul, I hope that will be fixed soon.
That makes it hard to even think of dribbling in the game specially when we play 2 vs 2 and any touch makes you lose the ball.
Another thing I've noticed, sometimes players completely ignore the ball in the air. That needs to be fixed too.

They deserve an Oscar or Guinness World Record or something like hall of fame in gaming industry for showing us how to ruin a successful football game business!

Game is about 10x worse than it’s been last month and it was utter shit by that time already. Now it takes an eternity to a player to turn around with ball or make a simple pass. Even with the top dribblers. It feels like moving a warship.
The worst aspect of this shit show product wasn’t addressed at all and that is the general in-game awareness of the players on the pitch. Lots of times they are completely clueless of what’s going on. It’s absolutely ludicrous. Just like Konami developers. If you add in their shameful inability to fix something as fundamental as player switching system, you end up with this piece of crap. They should hire people behind the old PES games or just get bankrupt because their lazy asses absolutely deserve it.
Will they ever add back generic teams lik man blue and others?

I picked it up againa few months and immediately noticed the improvements. I'm not an online player but I do enjoy offline games and this version was really fun to play offline against a friend. For me personally, it just needs to have the PES21 ball physics and this game will be nearly perfect in terms of the type of gameplay I enjoy. I tried playing eafc24 immediately after and couldn't even finish a match...
Hi Spoony. I’m struggling everytime playing with new update. Adjustment takes time. Out of nowhere I want to ask you in the competitive match, do you set or use 2 different playstyles like 1st and 2nd tactics?
Sometimes, most of the time I manually change it cuz it depends on what my opponent is doing, formation, their patterns of play. A second formation can be useful...but I change so much I don't bother

I still have player freezing. In yesterday's co-op game both of my teams attackers froze after last defender got the ball. Both guys just ran into an invisible wall and stopped. It looks so broken, especially when 2 guys do it in parallel beside each other 🥶🥶

The update is a small improvement. I have the feeling that it is slightly better to defend the ball. Still, the speed is too high, auto defense too strong and pass help 1 is OP.
I don't know if it's just me that this is happening, but since last week's update I've been unable to win almost any match, and I'm suffering exhaustively with the handicap, which for some reason is now very strong. Either that or I've unlearned playing the game, because until last month I was in the top 500 and now I can't even consider leaving division 3. There are already 30 defeats and 11 victories.
My players can't pass the ball without being intercepted, in addition to the field seeming to be smaller in some way, as soon as I get the ball there are immediately several players surrounding me (something that doesn't happen often), not to mention the balls on the post and the kicks out meaningless. I'm really considering selling my account and stopping playing.
I think Konami algorithm in matchmaking is somehow give us harder oppposition (either opp with really high team strength, or lower team strength but high player skill). I also has defeath in rows which never happen before. and also now, high team strength is having much more impact in the game, faster, stronger player, etc compare to previous version
If anything, I expect major gameplay changes only in 4.0.0 (eFootball 2025), which will be released in autumn.
Basically all the negative points about the gameplay remain, so there is nothing new to comment on.
The biggest problem remains, of course, that the game is no fun at all unless you are an absolute beginner or massively lacking in skill.
One aspect I never mentioned was the manual passes. After more than a year I played two matches of PES 2021 with manual passing and OMG and the difference to eFootball couldn't be bigger. Playing in PES 2021 without passing assists feels so good. Strange as it may sound, manual passing in eFootball is NOT the same as it is in PES.
In PES 2021 you know it is your fault if you make a bad pass. Having played eFootball and PES 2021 with manual passing, I noticed a big difference from the first pass. The gameplay mechanics of eFootball are so terrible that passing without assists doesn't feel rewarding most of the time, and more importantly, it doesn't feel like you have 100% control, it feels like there are still too many assists. It's hard to put this feeling into words, but perhaps my last sentence, combined with the following, describes it best.
Full manual passing in PES 2021 feels like you are actually able to play super realistic football, now the opposite can be said about eFootball. Even with manual passing you almost never feel like you're playing football, it's as far away from football as you can get.
I like the pace of the game. It's mainly because of 2 things. Player movement off the ball is more polished. Players can now do various animations to get back in position without sliding or sprinting all the time. Secondly, with the AI assistance pressure decreased, there is a little bit more time to think. So players will take an extra bit of time before making the first move. As for dribbling, I have been successful enough times to give a pass. As for the first touch, I do better when I don't have direction input until the player has control of the ball.

As a FUMA player I give this a 6.8. It will suck for me if it gets any little bit quicker than it is. Streams will be unwatchable.

I noticed that first touch
70 interceptions in one game last night, not changed that much spoony, dribbling is better but passing is still whack, they need to stop these bloomin shoulder charges and player freezing is still there, one player stops after input for about 0.5 secs
Look at the video bits where the players don't freeze on the spot. It does happen from time to time but idk why....but in the example I gave, they're not freezing, just locking player into an animation

My player got freeze at Important moment. And some times my player tund right when i press left
they've improved it with the last update sure as the previous version was an absolute disgrace, but it's still worse then the version from before the previous update to me. I'm so sick of them messing around with the gameplay every month or two, i don't have the patience to keep learning the game over and over again, that used to be limited to once a year which is how it should be. I'm very close to quitting the game as they can't just leave it alone.

Another great video, Spoony. Personally, I am quite content with the current gameplay, even if I think it's still far from perfect (I definitely like the slower pace, it feels much less like a vertical style game on steroids), so I just wish Konami won’t screw it up. On the downside, I feels there’s still way too much scripting, the servers didn’t improve at all and, of course, there is still a tragic lack of content.

IMO, this is the best version of efootball so far. Everything feels a little tighter. I know you mentioned having the ball being taken away from behind, but this was absolutely outta control in 3.5. It seems to have been toned down a lot.
Honestly, the game feel stagnan for me. But the modding progress is amazing and make the game fun to play offline with friends/party, due all tim unlocked in triall match.
Still don't get it, why konami wont release Edit Mode and paid DLC to unlock all teams. Modder can do that, so does Konami (if they want). Its the matter of konami will.

Headed shots feel more accurate, but I’m not sure about headed passes
I like this update much better than the last one before and the connection seems more stabile at least for the moment 😂. More modes still missing, both online and offline, edit mode… Maybe in 2025, who knows😂

@@vasilis8604 haha started reading this comment and thought you were talking about England performance under Southgate. In all honesty. There's very little difference between QC and LBC. I would say hold off because there's gonna be a manager soon with possession and QC and that will be ultimate. I'm a possession based player but sometimes need to switch it up on the fly to make winning against other QC players easier.

I’ve been praising the last update because I felt the gameplay was really nice, good tempo, flowing build-up, less assisted defense, etc. Yesterday I logged in and won five league matches in a row (Div. 2), some of which quite easily, which left me a bit suspicious, but ok, you're winning, right? Today I logged in again and lost all matches, most of which in ridiculous fashion, defenders freezing at crucial moments, kick-off glitches with blue bars and paying attention to the opponent striker, 95 finishing strikers missing in front of goal, impossible GK saves, etc. Is anyone else experiencing this? What is the point of improving the gameplay if the script is getting worse and worse?
Spoony, I don't know what AI keepers you've been playing against, but now they always charge at me when I get through cleanly. I even dribbled past one. I was actually thinking of you, that this will make you happy
While I agree with a few points such as the pace.
I wouldn't give this a 5/10. The game is still far too favoured in defence when the advantage should always be with the attacking team. Online is still a crazy interception fest and it doesn't matter as much how strong or weak your team is due to all the assistance. Inertia is all but gone and chip shots have never been good since V1 days.
The game used to reward the attacking team when playing with creativity and guile and now it rewards mechanics and abuse.
Efootball doesn't make sense, it's like everything is backwards now and the game is not much fun because of it. It's a shame and gutting at the same time.

@@SpoonyPizzas what I would love to see is Konami to ask only a select bunch of veterans (who aren't eSports players), and have put in over 1500 hours into the game for their feedback. Create and try a build based on what they have to say. I'd also would love to see them really explain the changes and if it's drastic enough, create a skill game to get used to the new mechanics.
Don't hold your breath in Konami fleshing out the offline modes, they have no interest....if they did it would have been there from day one...they are trying to imply they have forgotten how to add a deep offline mode, as if it is a difficult art to master...or the game engine can't support it....fact is the only way you would get a TRUE PES, would be if the fans came together and made a spiritual successor, the fans who get what it means to deliver a world class football game, a rollback where you get what you paid for, and no additional payments required...like it used to be 10-20 years ago ..it just shows you how low the game industry has fallen.. compared to the days of international superstar soccer.
This ‘update’ did nothing for me. Yes game feels slower and less chaotic but the same passing problems are still there and jarring shoulder barges from behind not being fouls etc etc etc. could go on but I’m just tired at this point and have given up with this company.

Honestly speed is much better like this even for passing. I still don't like first touch control, is so slow and breaks the game in my opinion.. In real football if you want you can be quick or slow to stop the ball it depends on your playstile. In efootball some time you can't pass ball on first since the game force you to stop it. Why? Do you have an explaination?
In your video plus is clear that even controller in defense is a lot better still some player are stunned close to the ball. Player 1 pass the ball to player 2 but in the middle player 3 who can touch the ball but you can't select it😂
I add that the big issue of this game still remains tactics, in pez you can do 10-1 style. Here players like di marco suffer this game movement. He can play ts, ccs and es but here is just an idiot

its still has a lot of issues but it is much better then the last version. At least i can do my L Stick dribblings again.
And in a few days we'll get Football Life 2024 v2, which will again be better than all of Konami eFootball versions combined
I think you're mistaken regarding the dribbling... it's much better than it was. Use more tight control dribbling and speed adjustments. Overall 3.6 is miles better than 3.4/3.5.

The truth is, no matter how skilled You are in the game, if the other player will be a guy who will invest 50-60 eur a week to get all the best epics - You stand no chance
There was a guy who tested the "free squad" on div 3-4 play and he got only the epic cards opponents - it feels like a p2w fifa...
If You get an equal squad opponent, the game is brilliant. Otherwise, I just quit seeing rummenige, messi, riijkard, guulit, bergomi, tomiyasu.....no point playing. There opponents who will give You 40mins of 1st half and then in 80th obliterate You and score 3 or 4 nil...no skill involved, just better cards, more rebounds, more goals off the post
You're surprised Adriano turns like a bus?? 😂 with a bad connection any player will be stuck in the mud. But when its good ive noticed no difference in how the likes of Iniesta and 2015 messi turn.

Super cancelling is one pf my biggest dislikes in this game, it negates your thought process when playing vs human players. You're unable to cancel a run path thats following a pass to cut it out early instead, the players do a sideways run or contonue to follow the tragectory even when holding the super cancel or tapping it repeatedly.
Pes 2021 was the closest we have got to a PES5/6 game play experience on next gen consoles. I understand they changed the engine but why change the core of the game which played really well, it converted a lot of fifa players as they still were working with the community, allowing us to download option files with kits etc, it feels like they alienated them in order to make money on the 'FIFA' card system. I so dislike it, 3 in 150 chance of landing a player you want.
They'd be better off giving you the option to buy a classic player directly with ecoins like 3 players for £3pounds or 300 coins ( i.e. classic brazil attack adriano Ronaldinho and kaka) then limiting the amount you can use in your dream team to 3. This keeps competition fair as tou dont get those spending £70-100 on cards for every weeks best classics or doing credit card fraud to unlock these titans. I consider myself to be a very good player on pes and have since ISSdays, i'd fancy my chances ranking in the top 5 players in the uk if i entered but my love for the game is fading. I resisted converting to fifa for so many years as each of my friend fell off and in return, we got a demo for 3 years, fifa card system to make money and a game where they care more about posting tweats on who is available to buy this week over am immersive game where you used to jump out of your seat aftwr working a team down to score a goal.
Spooned, I've watched your content for a few years now, do they ever reach out to you for your opinion on the game or the other fans feedback, it feels like they have to go back to basics before they fall behind the new breed approaching in UFL and Fifa2K as you know fans will buy/play just because its a full game

Why completely abandon PES21 when they already had a solid base? They couldve brought out 3 'season updates' of PES 21 and added a couple thousand animations each time and imagine where we would be? such a waste
Man, honestly, I appreciate you, but if you come up with an announcement like *PES IS BACK*, honestly, you become mediocre, how can you say such a thing when this game is full of errors in the GAMEPLAY and it's as much as possible PAY TO WIN!! you watched the video made by MEDNASAH with FREE players he was crushed by someone pretty good but against the same opponent when he played with *BUY TO WIN* players he beat him slightly. ISS and PES were totally different from the next edition of EFOOTBALL where you see more realism ?don't fool the chat....
Still a card packing game imo, simple little things like weather and time of day cant be chosen which is weak, i just dont really enjoy it, to many tweaks every few weeks, the whole dream team does nothing for me, same players in every pack either weekly or european or national, i have 4 different messi, 3 different bruno's etc etc
No point of playing if there is no master league with good AI!
