SH was never about the gameplay like RE was, just how RE was never about the story like SH is. and i have to wonder some SH fans are always so mad when we pretty much had several SH2 "remakes." most of the western SH games were aping on SH2's story with their own "twists" and thriller/mind horror aspects. hell, no one bat an eye at SH: shattered memories, totally changing everything around from the original silent hill. i say, be a real fan, stop be an annoying hater and hope for the best. konami could have let the series die when PT got cancelled (maybe they should have, we'll see) so seeing them put this much effort into this is at least a step in the right direction.
The Early RE games were about story like to 1-5 and some side games. The new RE all are bad because they killed off Albert Wesker. The story made sense because it was about science gone wrong to lead to zombies. Now the RE games are about werewolves, vampires, and superheroes 😂😂😂. Silent Hill fell off because they focused on things that they shouldn't which being too different each game that the series died off before now so that is 50% true, but not 100% with both series.
I agree. This is why we can't have nice things. The issue is that the audience has too much of a voice nowadays for better or worse and when the companies get negative feedback and change one thing for the people they tend to find something else to complain about. I am just happy we are getting to experience this game again with new direction.

Thank you for pointing things out. The OG SH games allowed you to rotate the camera and the stomp always made the enemies go down instantly. Also, I honestly do see the possibility that Maria's OG outfit might be DLC. Great video by the way. The best thing to do is to wait for the game to release I'm both excited and a little nervous I hope if this game succeeds, the first Silent Hill game deserves the next remake.

I am absolutely psyched for Silent hill 2 I've kept my mouth shut and have not bashed or degraded this project about things I was not 100% happy with because I knew we had time, They had time to fix any problems people weren't happy with, I'm so happy i gave them the benefit of the doubt, Bloober team this looks amazing.❤️
"Sexy" is subjective. This is not the exact same James, so the "sexy" Maria is not the same sexy either. And for plenty of gamers, the OG Maria might not have been their ideal "sexy" either.
I honestly love Maria's new outfit. I think it fits her especially considering born from a wish and how uncertain she is. But I also think her outfit will change as we get deeper into the town. Can you imagine if she's wearing her original outfit in the cell bar scene? That'd be cool asf

I can tell you why this remake will not hold a candle to the OG SH2 in my own opinion: _ The tones and infliction of the characters are off. _ The promos are full of scenes where everything important is marked with button presses form notes to collectable items and doors. They don't respect the players' brains to find out things on their own. _Maria which was intentionally sexy in design because of in game reasons was toned way down and her personality became more welcoming rather than ominous. She also speaks a lot which familiarise her relationship with James, rather than making the player being on their guard with her motivations. All I got from the trailer is Last of Us 1 rather than SH2. A psychological monster horror game. Feel free to buy the remake and enjoy it as well, but it's not my cup of tea, especially when the original is superior in the environment, story and character. The remake's bonus is the combat and the graphics
It’s funny that you point out that Silent Hill 2 was boring lol, I’ve only been able to beat it once back in 2001 when it was released on PS2. Tbh I wan in denial about it when I tried to do a second run through back in the day, I think I enjoy the lore more than the actual game. The first 2 Silent Hill games are classic (also the only 2 games I’ve beat in the franchise), I’m looking forward to the remake and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they make a lot of quality of life improvements so it’ll keep my interest and I’ll be a compelled to compete it.

Ok. Firstly, 'boring' is highly subjective. With that out of the way, I do agree with you that a lot of people have blown this out of proportion. Looking at the trailer, the models for James and Angela seem to change depending on where they are, so this may be a rendering problem or some sort of weird lighting problem. Until I play it for myself, I can not say if it's good or bad. For me, there are 3 important things that will make or break the game: story, atmosphere, and audio. Graphics look ok, and character models look weird in some parts, but it may be that it still needs some development. Combat is NOT something Silent Hill was ever known for, so I'm ok with the changes. Fixed camera angles... we're in 2024, and some people really need to just let go already 😂. All in all, I agree with most of your points and will wait to judge the game for myself when it comes out.
I can already tell it's going to be awesome, and that's from someone who thinks they should make original new games instead of remakes. Games came a long way in 24 years and seeing a game I've been a fan of since I was 14, get all the upgrades and none of the things that bother me in modern gaming is a dream come true.

Yeah man I wanted to keep it real. Video games in general don’t have much longevity unfortunately. Once it is played and beaten it will sit there with the rest of the games. Remake or not 😆
I don’t know how much traction someone with an honest and measured take is going to get on UA-cam, but I wish you luck. It’s like a cover of an amazing song. They put out a song that sounds identical to the first, and you think, “I don’t need this when I have the original”. Silent Hill 2 will continue to exist after this remake is on the shelves. We don’t lose it. If anyone looks back on the original and is honest with themselves, they will see many flaws in the game, but because they’re having it remade, the fan base will just hold up like Simba atop of Pride Rock. The facial models are all very simple and similar. The dialog is awful. The voiceovers are horribly read. The combat is clunky. These are issues that still happened and allowed many, including myself, to LOVE this game. Resident Evil experienced pushback with the originals remake until they saw that Mikami was at the wheel. They added and changed a LOT of stuff and people embrace it as the best RE game. Well, Bloober is in charge, but Masahiro Ito and Akira Yamaoka are heavily involved and aren’t going to let them just shit all over Silent Hill. Bloober knows what’s at stake and will be listening to criticism. The ONLY enemy of the game, oddly enough, will be Konami. Not wanting to throw any more money than they need to and wanting to get it out as soon as possible. These team members played it just like you and loved it just like you. Yes, there can be differences of opinion, I guarantee most people reading this like SH2 the most and I put it third after 1 and 3. We can all continue to enjoy the game, but if you want to only play the original with a fresh coat of paint, get yourself a PC and download all the update mods and you’ve got what you want. Myself I want something more. The issue is none of us know what that more means. Some might want the monsters to be explained more overtly as manifestations of James’ psyche coming up to push him down. Some will love this version and some will hate it. It’s not for you if you hate it. Move on. P.S. Angela finally looks her age and you perves who want to be able to fap to Angela should find a different hobby. SHE’S NINETEEN!!!

Maria's model in general looks a bit wacky, with her big'ol head and awkward teen face (instead of mysterious middle aged lady ) Also. Stomping on a downed opponent is something an everyman can do. Even a small child. Suplexing an opponent on the other hand is NOT something an everyman can do. Let's be real here. The original SH camera is not fixed, it's cinematicly controlled. Which means it followed the player from certain angles and perspectives for optimal cinematic / narrative immersion. Could you take over? Of course. Is it the coward's way to play? Probably. So anyway - no I for one won't buy it. UA-camrs will, sure. But me as a customer won't. To be fair, SH2 was not my favourite of the series anyway, unpopular take I know. : )
This video is based. Nice vid. Every point you made was good, these people are so brainwashed into thinking silent hill 2 is this perfect game. It’s not, I still consider it one of the greatest games of all time but I don’t play it every day. It’s a great game to sit down and play for the first time. After the first time, it doesn’t hit as hard. A lot of these “fans” want to get the same feeling they did when they first played it and they are honestly setting themselves up for disappointment.

RE had a great story as Silent Hill did. RE fell off after they pulled focus off Umbrella, and killed Wesker in 5. The story of RE which made it just as lovely as the gameplay is the story about the horrors of science leading to Zombie viruses and ugly unholy monsters that are BOWs. In Silent Hill it is about the horrors of Supernatural unknown things. The other things people whine about, is dumb because RE and SH are both counterparts of each other, one is science gone wrong and the other is supernatural horrors with the same gameplay. People that whine don't know the olds devs had so little to work with and done the old games with so little so that is why the characters look better in a game about fear and trauma getting exposed through the supernatural. This was very well put. I appreciate your input. I enjoyed the stories for both series and I have seen just about every piece of lore I could find for both. Resident Evil and Silent Hill work in their own unique ways because they're so different from each other. I am looking forward to the Silent Hill 2 remake. Hopefully we get something different instead of more of the same.

RE goes with a science division that that no one knows turns the evolution of science into everyone in the world's worst nightmare which is a virus that turns people undead. SH is everyone's worst knightmare when moving into a new town that reveals fear of what you done manifest in supernatural and what the supernatural can do because it ain't limited. The Heroes in RE are better people because they do the right thing in the impossible. In SH most protagonist are either good have to be apart evil, but others deserve SH because they are criminals without punishment. Both series are counterparts of each other because they show society and the world's problems. RE went bad when they focused on things other than zombies and BOW and after Weskers death. SH done so many different ideas that didn't work and they don't have that edge like they did in the past until now. That is why RE is revived because Capcom revamped the series with remakes of the old. Silent Hill needs to just find what horror works and expand every now again, but keep the same horror. That is why both rival each other.

Yeah man I wanted to keep it real. Video games in general don’t have much longevity unfortunately. Once it is played and beaten it will sit there with the rest of the games. Remake or not 😆

It’s like a cover of an amazing song. They put out a song that sounds identical to the first, and you think, “I don’t need this when I have the original”.
Silent Hill 2 will continue to exist after this remake is on the shelves. We don’t lose it.
If anyone looks back on the original and is honest with themselves, they will see many flaws in the game, but because they’re having it remade, the fan base will just hold up like Simba atop of Pride Rock.
The facial models are all very simple and similar. The dialog is awful. The voiceovers are horribly read. The combat is clunky. These are issues that still happened and allowed many, including myself, to LOVE this game.
Resident Evil experienced pushback with the originals remake until they saw that Mikami was at the wheel. They added and changed a LOT of stuff and people embrace it as the best RE game.
Well, Bloober is in charge, but Masahiro Ito and Akira Yamaoka are heavily involved and aren’t going to let them just shit all over Silent Hill. Bloober knows what’s at stake and will be listening to criticism. The ONLY enemy of the game, oddly enough, will be Konami. Not wanting to throw any more money than they need to and wanting to get it out as soon as possible. These team members played it just like you and loved it just like you. Yes, there can be differences of opinion, I guarantee most people reading this like SH2 the most and I put it third after 1 and 3. We can all continue to enjoy the game, but if you want to only play the original with a fresh coat of paint, get yourself a PC and download all the update mods and you’ve got what you want. Myself I want something more. The issue is none of us know what that more means. Some might want the monsters to be explained more overtly as manifestations of James’ psyche coming up to push him down. Some will love this version and some will hate it. It’s not for you if you hate it. Move on.

That being said - you (and they) say it's a re-make but - nah man there's a word for it, called a "re-imagining". not remake. there's a difference. Maria's model in general looks a bit wacky, with her big'ol head and awkward teen face (instead of mysterious middle aged lady )

The original SH camera is not fixed, it's cinematicly controlled. Which means it followed the player from certain angles and perspectives for optimal cinematic / narrative immersion. Could you take over? Of course. Is it the coward's way to play? Probably.
So anyway - no I for one won't buy it. UA-camrs will, sure. But me as a customer won't. To be fair, SH2 was not my favourite of the series anyway, unpopular take I know. : )
This video is based. Nice vid. Every point you made was good, these people are so brainwashed into thinking silent hill 2 is this perfect game. It’s not, I still consider it one of the greatest games of all time but I don’t play it every day. It’s a great game to sit down and play for the first time. After the first time, it doesn’t hit as hard. A lot of these “fans” want to get the same feeling they did when they first played it and they are honestly setting themselves up for disappointment.
I appreciate you checking this out and providing your perspective. True but no game ever really hit as hard. The second time you play it especially survival horror games as their main allure tends to be the first play through after that you are already expecting the scares so it’s not as impactful.

RE had a great story as Silent Hill did. RE fell off after they pulled focus off Umbrella, and killed Wesker in 5. The story of RE which made it just as lovely as the gameplay is the story about the horrors of science leading to Zombie viruses and ugly unholy monsters that are BOWs. In Silent Hill it is about the horrors of Supernatural unknown things. The other things people whine about, is dumb because RE and SH are both counterparts of each other, one is science gone wrong and the other is supernatural horrors with the same gameplay. People that whine don't know the olds devs had so little to work with and done the old games with so little so that is why the characters look better in a game about fear and trauma getting exposed through the supernatural. This was very well put. I appreciate your input. I enjoyed the stories for both series and I have seen just about every piece of lore I could find for both. Resident Evil and Silent Hill work in their own unique ways because they're so different from each other. I am looking forward to the Silent Hill 2 remake. Hopefully we get something different instead of more of the same.

RE goes with a science division that that no one knows turns the evolution of science into everyone in the world's worst nightmare which is a virus that turns people undead. SH is everyone's worst knightmare when moving into a new town that reveals fear of what you done manifest in supernatural and what the supernatural can do because it ain't limited. The Heroes in RE are better people because they do the right thing in the impossible. In SH most protagonist are either good have to be apart evil, but others deserve SH because they are criminals without punishment. Both series are counterparts of each other because they show society and the world's problems. RE went bad when they focused on things other than zombies and BOW and after Weskers death. SH done so many different ideas that didn't work and they don't have that edge like they did in the past until now. That is why RE is revived because Capcom revamped the series with remakes of the old. Silent Hill needs to just find what horror works and expand every now again, but keep the same horror. That is why both rival each other.

Exactly what you said "I don't want a simple HD texture that's put over a game I played 20 something years ago" THAT. PART. Because that would be a REMASTER, not a REMAKE. You said the crucial difference in the first two minutes of this video. MAKE implies there will be changes made, and as long as they honor the source material, which it seems like they are I'm all for it, saying that as a life long silent hill fan!
The rabid "they're ruining silent hill" crowd needs to take a lesson from SH 2 honestly, stop letting your trauma form your world and stop treating every non-Team Silent game like it's the a great person that you won't even give a chance because you're far too emotionally attached to their ex in an unhealthy manner and that ex is looooong moved on. If you keep looking behind you in the past, you're never gonna see anything good right in front of you.
I'm not saying you HAVE to like it, but some of these critiques are getting absolutely out of hand, bashing Angela because she isn't "hot" in particular is extra gross considering it's objectifying her in a way which COMPLETELY defeats the purpose of her character and really shows a lack of appreciation for the story you claim to love SO much.

I don’t know how but somehow they are doing it lol. Going to reserve my judgment until after the game has been released played and beaten, then I can give a more comprehensive and fair review. I might like it or I might not but what I won’t do is make assumptions over something that hasn’t even been released. People had similar thoughts about RE Make2 but now everyone loves it. Time shall tell.
