Nice video man, been waiting to see what the 600d can do in exteriors. You can read all the lux specs in the world but you never know with LED until you see it in real world applications. Did you find time to test the 600D with the fresnel dish (or whatever they call it) that is supposed to add more output? If so what did you think ? Been wrestling with possibly using the 600d in place of a Joker bug on certain shoots. Think its doable ?
Nanlite images look like they were taken with a Xeen Samyang lens and Aputure images look like they were taken with a Zeiss Otus. The color and contrast looks better with the aputure for my eyes. Thanks for the test!
SidusLink is the most massive advantage the Aputure has, besides the ability to charge V-mount batteries even while its powered up. These lamps are frequently going to get used as through-the-window artificial sun, and wireless ability is a huge plus. Wireless on Nanlite is a joke, with their flimsy, short-range WiFi that costs an extra $150.
In your full first example with the softbox on the 600d, you're probably bouncing in sunlight, which could be boosting the levels on your face. So you're getting 600d diffused and sunlight bounced.
The first setup, both lights just had the reflector dishes. On the setups with the Octabox, the subject was places in the same exact distance and place with moments of each other so they should be exact results
@@cammackey It just seems that the big white front of the softbox could be adding some bounce source. I obviously can't see the light or how the sun was hitting it, so I could be way off. Great channel and love the real talk!
@@DavidGriffin nothing wrong with reflectors. Or put a tent on top of model and light her or some diffusion material and expose for subject. Negative fill box
@@DavidGriffin if it was that easy than everyone would shoot the same Way. Look at Peter Lindbergh photos. He especially just put all his models in a black box outdoors so he can control the light and not deal with the sun hitting his models. And used a long lens
I have a Forza 500 and used it maybe a Dozen times in the last 8 months only in studio and yesterday I got an over heating warning and realized my fan is not working.. Have you had any of the fans die on you?
@@1966films Yes of course, was the first thing I checked out. I already sent it off. I am an ambassador for Nanlite, so they will take care of it or replace it. Thanks
I don't know about color accuracy but just looking with the naked eye, the Nanlite look so much more natural and homogeneous with the natural light, whereas the Aputure definitely looks out of place almost like using strobes. After correction they look almost identical.
@@noranoskyle4417 I can understand both positions. I’ve never felt like sunlight looked perfectly white like a strobe would. I think the atmosphere always makes it look from slightly yellowish to red.
Lol you’re seeing things bro 😂. They were shots minutes apart with the same settings. The Aputures color actually looks a little more accurate to life, but I personally prefer the more yellowish tint cause it blends a tiny bit better. For both I would put like a 1/8 green or magenta filter on. But to me it doesn’t matter cause in post I would easily tweak it anyways. But yeah.. you’re seeing stuff brother
Great to know! The 600 dollars you'd save by getting the nanlite can buy you two Aputure 200Ds, which can give you the sidus link app effects and act as their own lights or combine them with the nanlite to up it strength
fuck, great video here. you are the working mans reviewer and I love it. Maybe Falcon Eyes will send you their RX 120TDX light which is. 600w Soft flex panel light
I got two of the RX-120TDX's and they are amazing lights. If you need a broad, powerful light that is super easy to hoist and to reposition without needing any modifiers, that is the light to get.
Not about the light power but the look you are trying to achieve in a harsh lighting condition. Continuous lights can’t compete against the Sun that warms the whole earth
It's so nice to see Johnny Depp doing UA-cam gear reviews nowadays.
Joanie Depth
😂
finally someone that actually tests it in the harsh sunlight, loved your review keep it up!!!!
Would like to see Nanlite Forza 720 vs Aputure 600D for outdoor shoot using v mount batteries
Bro life saver you are
Which generator did you use with forza 500?

Aputure 600d Pro is a weather-resistant design, can withstand various inclement weather environments.
Very informative thank you.Looks like you got your komodo fixed aswell man awsome
Did his Komodo break or something?
@@EmileModesitt I think something happened in the dessert😅
To avoid 26V V-Mount:
Ecoflow R600 Pro
GoalZero Yeti 500X or 1000X

This was an excellent video Cam. Very informative.
I also super hate lights, gimbals, cameras etc with apps. It's so annoying to mess with your phone while shooting.
What's your opinion on those Neewer C Stands you're using? Are they any good?
I have 2 and love them!
@@1966films I also have 2 of them now as well!
they're absolutely great!
Now there is the new Godox m600d. It is interesting to see which is the best bang for the buck.

Tester des projecteurs à l'extérieur et en plein soleil ... il fallait y penser 😉😉😉
So if I wanted a light to fill shadows at 12noon / full sun / 5ft away from my subjects... Would this be enough?
I don’t think so
@@Chris-ey7zy dang. So the only REAL solution is reflectors. Hopes dashed... Yet again.

If you were using the 600d (the non pro version) with batteries, it only allows you to go 50% power, that wasn’t even close to it’s raw power
I have a Forza 500 and used it maybe a Dozen times in the last 8 months only in studio and yesterday I got an over heating warning and realized my fan is not working.. Have you had any of the fans die on you?
Are you sure, the fan is not off? There is an off/on setting in the menu. In any case, if it is broken send it to get fixed by Nanlite.
