    I like how more work goes into tearing down the boots for a rebuild than other boot companies put into brand new boots. Keep up the quality work. I love my Nick's, all 3 pairs.

      you know for these boots being 25 years old there is alot more tread than you'd expect. almost brand new levels of tread, how does that work. the bottom of the shoes don't actually look worn out

      @@thehardnesschannel1605 Naw they get new soles. You can tell by the vibram mark on the middle of it. They replace those ever 2 to 5 years depending on you, the boot just like a cowboy hat or a sadle can be paased down to your next. Atleast my take on it.

    *Totally valid for the customer to have his boots repaired. It costs less than a new pair too according to their website. I'm sure he has a lot of sentimental value in his boots! Better to save them, than to throw them away being wasteful. Now he has many more years added to his boots! They look amazing!!*

    • @JinsKookieJams
      @JinsKookieJams 3 місяці тому +1

      *On the rebuild page, it states it starts at $319. I went there and guessed the repairs the boots got such as new leather tongues. The price went to $379. So it really depends on the condition of your boots and what you need. New boots from Nicks usually are from $600 - $800+. So really, this customer did save a chunk of money! Yea $319 - $379 is still a lot, but when you compare that rebuild price to a new pair of Nicks, it's considerably a lot less! Given that the boots had their first rebuild in their 25+ of life, I'd say it was worth it! I'm sure those boots have a lot of sentimental value based on how old they are, and how long the customer has had them. I'm glad the customer didn't throw them away lol 😅! That would be very wasteful! They seem extremely meaningful to them.*
      *And yes they did an awesome job restoring the boots!! I'm sure the customer was extremely happy! Now they will have many more years of life in their boots! Hopefully they'll take better care of them too, in order to extend the life of their boots. Wishful thinking anyway lol 😅🤣🤣!*

    How far will NIck's go? the only thing left was the uppers leather! Would they remake the entire boot if necessary based on the old leather OR just suggest the client look at the new products and replace them?

    • @CrimFerret
      @CrimFerret 2 роки тому

      That's how they rebuild. Only the uppers are kept. It helps make the break in after the rebuild easier than on a new pair. These were obviously worse than usual. Still Nick's does what they say they will do when you buy a pair of their boots. They'd rather lose money on a rebuild like this (and they likely did) than have a customer feel they had been lied to. Most send them in in far better shape.

    • @JinsKookieJams
      @JinsKookieJams 3 місяці тому +1

      *It's not a huge cause for concern actually. They use clinching nails. They have a video that talks about why the nails won't poke your feet. The boots sit on a last with a metal bottom. So then when the nails pierce the leather uppers, and into the leather midsole, they will hit that metal plate on the last. The ends of the nails will always curl back into themselves, into the leather midsole. So your feet are safe! Nails and screws are a big reason why they help keep the boots secured in place, besides the contact glue. These boots are meant to be built tough and last for many years 😊! A lot of people in heavy duty jobs will get Nick's Boots because of how well made and tough they are surviving various conditions.*
      *I understand you though! I used to feel scared of the nails, until I learned more about the process lol 😅! Now I don't mind them.*

      I agree. Why rebuild a pair if you’re going to replace everything except the uppers? As old as they are, the leather has to be weak and deteriorating. The only reason I can imagine is if the boots have sentimental value and you want to keep some original material. But if the uppers are all that’s worth keeping, why not just retire the boots and start fresh?
      It’s fun to watch the restoration, but it isn’t very practical.

      *Not really according to their website. On the rebuild page, it states it starts at $319. They seem extremely meaningful to them.*
      *And yes they did an awesome job restoring the boots!! I'm sure the customer was extremely happy!*

    Is this still consider rebuild/refurbished or it looks more like replace to me.. in and out soles, heel, toe, tongue all have been replaced. I think the signature of your foot is on this 3 things, insole, heel, and toe.. if its not might as well get a new pair.

      With a boot that tall the upper also molds you your ankle and becomes easier to flex. The rebuild is also half the price of a new boot so it's more cost effective as well.

      @@ShibbyMcCleud if the price only 50% of the brand new boots like in this video..i think its really worth it. But i really dont think so. It looks more like 80% price of the boot.. its impossible if the work like toe, heel, cleaning, tongue, in/out soles replacement they only charge 50% of the price..

      Because breaking in a new upper is a significant part of the process. This was an extreme case. If they are taken care of, the uppers will still be in pretty good shape as they are far lower wear areas of the boot usually.
