Having dropped fuel tanks out of a GMC suburban before just to change the fuel pump, I've often just hoped that my e36 pump never fails, cause dropping a tank isnt fun....but jeez, this looks easy as hell
This is probably a stupid question as I'm new to this, but can you see into the tank itself. I have to siphon out old fuel out of an E36 that's been sitting for a while and this just seems like the easiest way to go about it.
I got a question. So I changed my fuel pump on 320i E36 and at first it responded perfectly. Turned off the car and tried to start it later on and it's just crunking. Checking the pump and it's working perfectly but now fuel is not pulling up. What could be the problem?
Knocking up an old thread... just a quick 1, why is the other hose nozzle there if there's no hose supposed to go on it? The reason I am asking is that I have the white house exactly the same look and mine also doesn't have a hose connected to that 1 outlet and over half tank it seems to be pushing fuel out of there... any advice there guys???
On my old 325i the white plastic pipe that leads the fuel from the pump, up and out of the tank had disintegrated, so the fuel was just being squirted around in the tank, barely sucking in fuel to the engine. Now Im suspecting the same issue on my 320i, can hear the pump sucking in air/slurping when I switch the ignition on. +Got some cut outs/slight stalling in up hill at 3rd gear. Gonna get the fuel filter and complete pump replaced.

On the front of the fuel rail right by the PCV, there is a schrader valve (looks like where you inflate tires). With safety glasses on and maybe a rag covering the valve opening push the center pin on that fitting and it will relieve the pressure from the fuel system. Watch out especially if you don't cover it up or you will take a gasoline bath. with no pressure in the line it wont piss fuel. . . . . On the other hand, if yours was pissing fuel your pump is probably working since that's the only way pressure can build in the line!
Christopher Young hey one more question I’m replacing the fuel sending unit and there’s a long plastic hose in the fuel tank is that supposed to plug into the sending unit or should I just leave that be
Those Car Dudes yeah found out that it wasn’t the actual pump but that there’s no electric getting to the fuel pump relay, due to the car hasn’t moved for a while probably some wire corrosion we hope

Just got an e36 that won't run because it needs a new fuel pump. So hopefully when I do this it'll be running fine
Fuel e36 pump of mine starts making sound. I removed it and clean its filter so now it's OK 👌
What engine is in yours? I suspect I will have to change mine fairly soon... I have a 318is.
The fuel pump is in the same spot on all e36's? Including a 318is? Nice bimmer btw :)
+AgainstEmpyre I believe so! Not hard to check though :)
Thanks man!
Yooo I'm from new Zealand too

Hahahaha whoops 😅
Master techs smoke cigs while doing fuel pumps #beaman
Where did u buy the pump from
A mate actually 😅
Those Car Dudes oh tru
Mine started pissing fuel once I pulled the fuel hose, how to prevent that?
