For future reference, if a child runs to you for sanctuary and seems malnourished or abused, one of the best things you can do is take them to the hospital (preferably a children's hospital since they are secured facilities) or specifically request an Ambulance. This is not illegal and you cannot be tried for helping someone seek medical attention. Do NOT call the police as they are not qualified to assess the health and well-being of children. Hospitals will feed the child, run tests, document everything and alert the proper authorities if claims are substantiated. With the backing of medical evidence, the child has a better chance of escaping abusive environments.
Not necessarily. There are some children in the foster care system that regular parents who aren't equipped to handle special cases just... can't do it, and they don't often know about it until a few days or months after the child comes home with them. That being said, I also know that those are special cases.
@@fructosecornsyrup5759 Bad matches happen and there are procedures in those cases, but literally abandoning a child, just dumping them to fend for themselves like these women did, is a crime. It should absolutely be disqualifying, no exceptions.
@@THEDubbleHelixx I wasn't even referring to this case, my dude. Please reread my words. I was saying that giving up a child you've adopted shouldn't _immediately_ disqualify you for the aforementioned reasons. I understand this case has made you upset. It made me upset, too. This case, however, is circumstantial. If you have a history of abusing adoptive kids, then yes, you should be disqualified. I'm not arguing that part.

@@coyboybc Exactly...and I'm not sure why this story didn't get more coverage...Can't believe this happened 3 years ago and I'm just now learning about it.
The saddest thing is that an aunt of the last 3 adopted children had an aunt who kept trying to adopt them, but even though she had no criminal or abusive history, had a good job and wanted to provide them CPS kept turning her down. They would have been alive if they had been allowed to be adopted by their aunt.
After their biological mother, Sherry Davis,[25] lost custody due to substance abuse problems in August 2006,[19] the Davis children were given to their paternal aunt, Priscilla Celestine, under the condition that they have no contact with their biological mother.[25] However, after she was required to work another shift, Celestine allowed Davis to babysit the children, which a case worker observed.[26] As a result, the children were removed from Celestine's care and a court prevented Celestine from obtaining permanent custody.[10] The Davis children were put into foster care; their older brother, Dontay, was not adopted by the Harts due to behavioral issues
@@TheRealHelenaDeluca, Yes, sadly, these innocent children were removed from a loving aunt's home because of one mistake which caused these children no harm..The aunt wasn't given a chance to regain custody, & then these children were taken to another state & placed into the home of 2 women with a known history of child abuse who then: subjected them to starvation, beatings, racist name calling, & NOT even temporarily removed so these SERIOUS allegations could be investigated, I wonder why? In essence, because of CPS inept, constant failures of protecting children, these children were removed because of drug abuse by a parent, & placed into the most dangerous home, with 2 extremely abusive women, who were allowed to inflict unimaginable horrors on them, allowed these 2 women to uproot the children & move everytime abuse was reported, which gave these women the time, & means to kill the children & now that the women are dead, no consequences to them, or CPS, whose only job is protecting children, & as usual, FAILED them, especially in this horrific, could've been avoided, tragedy!!
EXACTLY! With the aide of social media, virtue signaling is disgustingly rampant. Everyone tooting their own horn for "Likes" and attention. Narcissism is a learned behavior. So many parents in the last 40 years are coddling the problem.
I know Lee had to be incredibly hurt by being abandoned but it was honestly a miracle. I couldn’t imagine what it would feel like to have that memory of abandonment for years only to find out those people killed the 6 other children they adopted. Really shows how some tragedies are secretly the best thing that could have happened
@Typecasted agreed at least one young person was spared. We can only hope she recieved better treatment from wherever she ended up. The foster & adoption system is so flawed. All carers ought to be subject to seriously extensive and in depth psych evaluations! But theu will say where is the funding for that? In the hands of the gov who choose to spend it elsewhere on arms.
But I’m sure she was questioning what is wrong with me why doesn’t anybody want me, and that’s just so fucking sad! I have not finished the story so maybe I’m going to get my answer probably not but I hope Lee is living a fulfilling life and is happy
Kinda pissed at the son in law that ratted the kid out though. Granted, it's not like they could have hid the kid there forever but, at least get the kids to a doctor and to the police so the event was on record.
You're going to tell me hundreds of people saw that photo of the 3 boys playing a board game having almost ALL of their bones CLEARLY visible and no one thought something was off...?
I noticed that too. Meanwhile you have the comments here attacking the neighbors. At the end of the day, people don't care until something goes horribly wrong, and then they find someone to blame but themselves.
@@supraguy4694 RIP Devonte and all of the other 5 beautiful babies. This story broke my heart. His tearful photos got me all teared up as well. @@debradowner8761 it's sad that there's not a national database for suspected abuses, like the way FBI and police offices have a network for suspected serial killer activity. Child abusers do so much harm :(
His hugging of the police officer was saying "Help me! Help me!" Sadly, though, tensions were high, Devonte was being used as a pawn, and the cop's hands were tied. There were no winners in that picture.
Instead of everyone finding out what terrible parents they were and face the consequences of their actions , they silenced the children forever. This is such a soul shattering case.
Its also extremely infuriating. Two adult people unable to take proper responsibility and face consequences, instead resorting in robbing six young people of their only lives. Selfish to a sickening degree.
The neighbours' father that called to report that he had suspected abuse and was concerned about the kids sounded really sweet-it's a shame that something wasn't done based on his phone call, I'm sure he would have been devastated to find out what had happened
The 911 call made by the father of the neighbour, should have ended the suffering of the children. He sounded so genuine and concerned that the police and social workers should have been swarming over the house.
absolutely. well before then honestly. its insane how so often these cases go unnoticed until its too late, but this time there were SO MANY FUCKING opportunities to save these poor souls... the teacher at first, the family members expressing concern, the school alerting to their bruises, all the way to this horrific phone call of a truly concerned citizen who was practically BEGGING for authorities to do what he doesn't have the authority to and save them. and nothing. insane
Sadly, CPS does that a lot. I know they have lots of kids but I think sometimes they don't think straight!! Wish I had been allowed to die instead of suffer the severe abuse I did and live through such horrible pain. Why can't some molesters actually finish the job and not leave a child scarred for life!! I feel for a lot of kids and the pain they suffer!! The women got off too easy!! Women like that aren't mothers, they're cowards and DEFINITELY NOT good people!! RIP children!! 🙏 😥
You can hear the level of concern in the neighbours Dad’s voice during that phone call. I can’t imagine how he must feel *knowing* something was wrong and being proved right. RIP to the children, what happened to them is utterly heartbreaking. Just seeing their ‘home’ and how they were living away from social media is unfathomable and no child should grow up like this. The Women (I’m not calling them mothers as that’s an insult to mothers everywhere) can rot in the deepest reaches of hell.
This story was absolutely heartbreaking being adopted is not the be-all and the end-all as I can belt for because so was I and these two thoroughly despicable evil individuals frankly should I've been investigated properly the CPS as it's called in America my honest opinion is not fit for purpose here in the UK we have adult social care and the child protection team they also make mistakes obviously not to this level rest in peace the children the other two I won't call them mothers because they blatantly weren't other than very very evil individuals in Society unfortunately for those children they met them
Social service employees must have been really ignorant to allow these children to stay after the interviews and reports from neighbors! Some fault should lay in hands of the social services
If a child has jumped out of a second storey window to beg you for help, and another child from the same family has desperately pleaded for a food parcel to be left in a hiding spot, then you really shouldn’t care about causing neighbourly conflict, you should demand that the police come and also report it to the media and the department of your State Governor. You should raise the alarm so vehemently that the report of child abuse could not be ignored. I’m astonished that so little action was taken in this matter. It’s an appalling indictment on the whole system of child welfare. Im guessing the authorities were beguiled by the virtue signalling, progressive lifestyle. Those children were badly let down, very, very badly. A lot of heads should be hanging in shame.

@@mdj864 Sadly the authorities don’t give a fuck about this. They’re just a tool for the government, but they have no utility. This is a recurring theme on this channel actually. ACAB and so on.
I've learned not to trust people who pose as good people after hearing about other family youtube channels and how they treat their kids. This just goes to show anyone can be a horrible parent whether you're in a heterosexual marriage, same sex marriage, or single. Human being in general are capable of being either good people or monsters.
I think that if there are allegations of abuse against a child and they suddenly move or are switched to being homeschooled that should be an automatic CPS investigation. Too many tragedies have this in common
CPS is soooo overwhelmed. There aren’t nearly enough case workers. Including all the false reports by jaded, jealous, and angry people? It’s a lot. I wish solutions were this easy. I agree. It’s a red flag. And CPS even claims it as such themselves. But they’re so limited. Underfunded. Over worked. And restricted by state laws. I wish it were easier to get Justice for children. I really do.
Unfortunately, they fled to another state. Communication between state CPS groups is practically zero. My husband and I lived in the adjoining county when they were in Alexandria. We were fostering kids at the time. I can vouch for how messed up our county’s CPS was during that time. The workers in the same office didn’t communicate well. No way they would have tried to communicate with another state’s office. :(
@@CassandraL666 soooo many people want to work in the field but it doesn't pay very well, especially in the cities where they are needed most and the cost of living is exceptionally high.
Absolutely! Personally I don't even understand the principle of parents homeschooling, I think it should be banned all together. Children who are unable to attend school because of health reasons would be better off having a team of teachers coming to them rather than a parent to teach. It must be so incredibly isolating and parents are not necessarily able to properly teach. Also it would significally reduce the likelihood of abuse. It's just heartbreaking. I would have given anything to be a mom.
Honestly, the egos on these two are ridiculous. They could have just killed themselves to escape consequences but they were more concerned about their image than the lives of all these kids the literally forced to be around them.
they were probably hoping nobody would find out they committed murder and thought they would forever be known as "the two women who had courageous hearts and love for children tragically died in a fatal accident. God bless them!".. even in death they wanted to be praised.
They were stupid if they didn't think that the details would be figured out. And then they died as mass murderers. Can't get much more shameful than that. Unbelievable.
Absolutely! I have never understood so called " desperate parents" or even "suicidal parents" who decide to annihilate the whole family rather than just offing themselves.
Their abandoning a teenaged girl instead of accepting their inability to foster her, says a lot about their character. How & why was their subsequent applications for fostering 3+3 young children aapproved? The failure began with the system & ended with two evil women taking six innocent lives. Heartbreaking😥
It was approved because there is no law against a FOSTER child being re homed. While many of us do consider that as abandoning that child..its sadly common and not considered abandonment.
@@ambrr_lily There really is. I was in foster care AND adopted. The difference is actually huge. Unfortunately the foster care system is extremely overburdened across the entire country, and the need for available housing is so great that's it's too easy to justify giving second chances. Afterall, the girl they dropped off was fine, only confused. In their mind, these two women just hadn't been ready yet at that time, and now they were. If only we lived in a world with fewer children in desperate need.

It’s because they are white women adopting these poor black kids. Had it been black women adopting white kids and doing the same thing. I shall leave that to you own imagination
It's enraging how often we hear about CPS failing children in cases this dire. People around them TRIED to get those poor kids help, but the ones who could really do something to get them out of that living hell let them slip through their fingers. And now they're gone. Rest in Peace, Ciera, Abigail, Jerimiah, Devonte, Hannah, and Markis.
It should be the community, not CPS that intervenes. This was one of those times when the community tried, but the system we've set up, which is to defer power to law enforcement/CPS instead of relying on the community. This is a deeper cultural problem in the US. The erosion of the nuclear family, atomization and anonymization, zero local community. Total reliance on the state to solve our social problems then complaining when the state doesn't do a good job. It takes a community to raise children, because modern parents are incompetent and all too ready to hand off the responsibility of rearing and teaching their kids to someone or something else i.e. nanny state or TV or schools rather than putting in the considerable effort it takes to raise another human being properly.
Nothing wrong with an organization like CPS. People should be able to have faith in authority and trust they can help them, especially when it comes to children. I do think they need to be harder on families. Problem is... they want to avoid even more children entering the system, so they will give families the benefit of the doubt and allow the kids to remain in the home during investigations and open cases. Foster care families, especially foster care parents who don't even have their own biological children or prior parents experience, should especially be looked over. If you've got nothing to hide, having CPS do check ins should not be an issue. And when families have cases open on them, even if closed, for a period of time they should not be allowed to relocate and move to another state without having their case transferred to their new home city. Otherwise, law enforcement should be notified and it should be taken seriously and potentially result in the kids being put into temporary alternative foster care. They had so many people calling CPS on them. Family, the schools, neighbors.
@@oldmandoinghighkicksonlyin1368 There is only so much that someone else can do outside of the law. Even if they wanted to get those children a way, those murderers could call the police and call it kidnapping. The teachers can’t make the students stay in school or deny the parents their “right” to homeschool them. Neighbors and friends can try to feed the children and talk to them, but if they’re kept away, it’s not like they can sneak into their home to care for them. CPS *should* have intervened. These accusations should’ve at the very least been put into some sort of nationwide database accessible to all CPS workers that documents past accusations and action taken, so that a pattern can be tracked. Honestly, they should’ve gotten the children to get a mandatory physical assessment as soon as allegations of abuse and neglect were brought up, and if those physical assessments showed something suspicious, the children should’ve been relocated to a safe house while further investigation into the parents were done. Anything but the borderline nothing that was done could’ve helped. Many people in the community would want to help, but there truly is only so much that can be done. Random people are also not all that smart or compassionate, and Americans have a very “me and mine” type of culture (compared to most other cultures in the world) and so are not likely to give up their own sense of comfort to protect others they see as outside their own circle. There’s a reason that people need to be trained specifically to deal with these types of cases and get children out safely. It’s not because people are lazy, it’s because these protocols are designed by people with much more knowledge than what the regular population has- and because old ways obviously didn’t work all that well. However, the success of those protocols is only as good as the workers who are implementing them. And, truthfully, some of these protocols are outdated and inefficient… showcased by the sheer amount of children that manage to be victimized right under the noses of CPS.
What too many people fail to recognize is how overworked (and underpaid) the average CPS employee is. I don’t work in CPS but have a job that has a large case pending (aka case load) and every time a new case gets added on to my workload, that’s less time to devote to my previous cases and my time is stretched too thin with less attention going into my investigations. The company(s) in my case usually doesn’t care and are not in a hurry to hire more people because they want to save money. Or in the case of a cps worker, the government doesn’t budget enough money to hire more people and/or don’t pay the current staff enough to want. Hence, it creates a cycle of not attracting more people to the profession to help. Luckily in my job no one gets killed if I don’t investigate/devote more time to the case. But here, it happens more often than these case workers want. These people are stretched way too thin and paid too little for more help to arrive.

Absolutely. Children don't typically go to strangers for physical affection (especially whilst in tears) unless there is something very seriously wrong at home. I know for a fact that my own kids would cringe and shy away from a stranger attempting to hug them. They'd be naturally wary, and come running back to me or which ever known and trusted adult was closest. Those two women are disgusting beyond words
I am SO sick of hearing these cases where children have been reported to be in danger multiple times by different people and nothing ever gets done. Or they do a quick investigation and come to the conclusion that nothing is wrong. Ugh so heartbreaking :( RIP young ones.
Agreed. I have had to report families to CPS 3 times. Nothing came of it other than the families moving soon after. CPS doesn't care if the electric & water is off or behavioral issues, if they aren't obviously being abused unignorably like broken bones then they don't care at least in my area.
They had a habit of screaming "Bigot!!! Homophobe!!!" anytime someone said something they didn't like. They were the OG Snowflake Karens on steroids. This was a major theme as told by people who knew them everywhere they'd lived. They used the White Savior Lesbians Card all the friggin time so people didn't want to be caught in those cross hairs by speaking up.
Devonte, Sierra and Jeremiah's aunt initially had custody of them but she made the mistake of allowing their mother (who had lost custody of them due to drug use) babysit them because she had an extra shift at work. While she was away working her extra shift, CPS showed up for a surprise inspection and found out that the aunt allowed their mother to babysit them and the children were removed from the aunt's custody. I realize that the aunt made a mistake, but I don't care how messed up the mother was I am almost certain that their biological mother would have never drugged them and driven them off a cliff to their deaths. The entire CPS system should be overhauled. These children should have been allowed to remain in the custody of their family members who loved them and fed them regularly. They were removed for one infraction from the aunt, yet Jennifer and Sara Hart were allowed to rack up multiple reports of abuse throughout several states. This is travesty and it only highlights the dysfunction of CPS. These are not the only children who have been taken from loving households over mistakes and put with perfect strangers who abuse them. It's sick and it should stop immediately.
This is exactly why my sister stopped being a social worker - seeing kids taken from loving relatives (who receive zero assistance) that may need support and placed in atrocious foster families for a check. She had more cases than she could physically give time and attention to. Imagine if instead of paying a foster family, that money was given to the aunt for a babysitter?
@Erin Stelly WHAT? people get money for adopting a child??? How is this not a huge, huge flaw in the system?? Exaxctly right, why would you not instead help out the original parents with maybe 1/4 or the money for childcare, that would cost the state less and just make more sense?
That is beyond tragic.. that they were taken from a loving family member’s home, just because of 1 “mistake”. The states should not have that much power to be able to destroy families. It’s disgusting. It’s a rarity that you actually hear of a good foster home. CPS need to be SO much more prudent when making these LIFE-CHANGING decisions for these children! It’s utterly cruel and barbaric what these children went through. Those poor little souls.. may they Rest In Peace.🕊
Thanks for providing more context. Just makes this case all the more tragic. I remember the photo of Devonte and the police officer hugging during the height of the riots. I am heartbroken to learn how his life ended.
They literally wanted children for accessories and photo ops, not to mention the additional woke points for being the holy white saviors for a group of black kids. What an awful and completely preventable tragedy.
Indeed. When you don't give a damn, but want to LOOK like you care. That they sought to use CHILDREN as props in their social media farce is beyond horrific. Everything about this case is slimy, and those six kids, they deserved so much. To be unloved for most of their short, precious lives is perhaps worse than the murders themselves.
That’s MOST Liberal Leftists. Virtue signaling all over social media, but never actually doing anything about it themselves. They’ll post a Ukrainian flag or “Black Square” as their profile picture, but they’d never take a black person in their home. They’d never go to Ukraine to help. I think he wanted somebody to help him, especially his expression hugging the cop- everybody misread that because we were caught up in the BLM. Not faulting BLM, I fully support the movement; just saying we saw what we wanted to see and not what we should have seen.
In an other document about this case, they showed evidence that indicated that the main reason why they adopted the kids was because of the money they received from the government monthly. They started buying expensive stuff for themselves and quitting their jobs. The reason why they moved was because of people starting to question their motives
This is unfortunately very common and why there's so many foster children in poorly run homes. I was fortunate to not be in a home this horrible, but I was in a home that only fostered for money. Every chance they got they took custody of children from friends/family that couldn't take care of them. This sounds fine, except they were not equipped to do this and didn't really care for the kids well being. The states don't usually care that much, either. The money is supposed to go to caring for the kids (food, clothes, etc), but I never saw most of that money used for me.
This is very common, very sad that people use children for the money they receive, as long as you have a house and no criminal background you can become a foster parent, crazy huh? The government is more focused on somewhere to send children, rather than assure they are safe and actually taken care of...
@@Baked_Beaned exactly. Sadly youre right about some foster homes. But she said they adopted 4 monthly money. Which When a child is adopted the new parents no longer receive money. @Axkylnis Dirldl absolutely! In a perfect 🌎 yes, ppl should be responsible to take care of their own offspring. But it'll never b perfect. I personally am grateful for adoption! Me and my identical twin were both adopted. Best parents EVER now! And our adoptive parents would also agree theyre thankful for adoption as well. Btw, when u adopt kids u do NOT pay for them. That ONLY happens during private adoption. Or with having a surrogate mother carrying your child 4 u.
When I was in high school, we welcomed foster children into our house. A lot of them over the years. It's understandable that a specific child doesn't fit well with a specific family and needs to be placed in a new home. There's nothing wrong with going to the child's case worker and saying they need to find a new home for the child. But there is a ton wrong with just dropping a child off at a therapy appointment (or any appointment) and not coming back. You don't do that to a child in foster care. They are already vulnerable, just by the nature of being in foster care. You don't abandon them like that, and the foster care we were part of would not allow it. If a foster parent does that, they should be disqualified from future foster care.

Onlookers were able to smash the driver side window and attempted to save the children trying to pull them outta the sinking truck but the father fought back to ensure his plan worked and unfortunately it, the onlookers weren't able to free the kids in time before the truck fully submerged all while the kids were terrified, screaming, begging for help asking their father WHY DAD WHY. CPS does not always do a lousy job but have in fact saved the lives of thousands of children. Abuse allegations are investigated by trained professionals who are assigned cases based on statements from relatives, neighbors, friends or strangers. Many times people use CPS to get even with someone or hurt them which is one of many reasons they’re backlogged and so many children do not get the help they need. Each case must be investigated even if believed to be false. Some are better than others. I couldn’t do it.
i dont agree that one family, with the ability to do so, shouldnt be allowed to adopt. however, there should be a very very thorough investigation as to why they are reapplying and take all details of context into account. the things that make this case extra disgusting arent even necessary for what should have led them to removal. they begged their neighbours for food and protection... it shouldnt have taken three days after that call for them to be removed. how the fuck did the neighbours just let them go home after that... how does someone who suspects such great abuse that they keep a journal not repeatedly try to save them. fuck i hate the world soemtimes.
I was a foster kid, from the age of 6 to 20, when I was officially adopted, this story literally crushes my soul EVERY single time I hear it. There is such a need for good foster parents and I just feel the system failed these poor innocent children. My god…why didn’t anyone listen to the teachers and the man who called, you can hear the worry and concern in his voice! SMH.
@@PiXie232 well if you go against nature, have an inferiority complex because of your race and don't know biological facts how can that be good for you?
So many people let these kids down. I am disgusted by all of the adults involved. I can’t believe nobody thought to take the kids out of the home until an actual investigation could be done. Sickening.
I can't help feeling that wokeness was part of the problem. Social workers didn't want to see anything wrong with these 2 because they were a lesbian couple. Unfortunately they were also disturbed and dangerous. I'm a lesbian mother, so I'm not coming at this from a homophobic angle.
I watched a documentary about this case on either Tubi or Netflix, can't remember. I was in shock when one of the friends of the mothers said she refused to call them bad parents, despite the abuse and the driving them off a cliff. Saying they always did what was best for the kids. She was even upset that people had awful opinions about them. It was pretty insane.
Unreal.. I bet she’ll really regret saying that a few years down the road and it’s far too late. She’s already let millions of people see her say it with conviction. Disgusting.
They both did, Sarah wanted to be a special needs teacher, Jen couldn't hack it in school, probably when she had to go to schools and sit with an actual teacher and observe prior to taking over the class for awhile. Sarah stayed with it until the moved and then they both gave it up and worked at a clothing store.
The father of the neighbours who did NOT help them because they did not want to get involved is the one that called the authorities - not the neighbours themselves. He did not live in the sane area, but was still concerned enough to call about it. The neighbours don’t need your sympathy, they did nothing to help then
The facts that the children asked for help, told teachers etc and were ignored by authorities really just gets me! It’s so fascinating! Children are brutally honestly at times! They should be listened to first!
If you say anything criticizing about "alphabet people's" parenting, they will call you a bigot. I had similar neighbors for a while. 3 adopted kids... and both "parents" used drugs. Don't get ne wrong. I smoke weed (now) too... its because my kids are adults and married.

When you're such a massive narcissist that children are literal props for your image. Disgusting. And shame on the system for allowing these women to adopt so many kids, especially after giving the first girl back in such a way. And then letting the blatant abuse go on for so long? I know kids are great actors when they're scared. I _was_ one of those kids, putting on an act for a social worker. But with so many reports coming in and so many kids involved? Really? Just... *_ugh._* This whole thing made me sick to my core.
Sadly a lot of people use kids for selfish reasons in our society. This whole "family is everything" and "parents always love their kids" is overblown. Reality is often times darker than we'd like. Granted that many parents do truly love their children, but it's a lot less common than we'd like to believe.
These women were monsters. They had a chance to partially redeem themselves by letting the children go and either turning themselves over to authorities or driving off the cliff themselves. Those beautiful children deserved to live. They just wanted to be loved and it breaks my heart to know their fate. 💔
Obviously the deaths of 6 children is tragic beyond belief, but I also can't help but feel for the girl they gave back... Imagine being that girl, coping with the trauma of abandonment, only to years later learn that the people who abandoned you murdered the 6 other children they took in... I can't imagine what that would do to a person's mental health. I hope she's doing okay.
This story really broke my heart. I truly bothered me how these beautiful children slipped through the hands of the system. So many people reported their concerns & nothing was done.
It's not that nothing was done, but that these horrible women would just pack up and disappear in the middle of the night once they were reported. It seems to me that plenty of people tried to get help for these kids. Regardless, this was a horrible situation that never should have happened.
They didn't slip anywhere. The system was happy to dump them on anyone they could. You see it all the time with shall we say 'less desirable' kids (and yeah, you know why).
The government contracts social work to the lowest bidders so social workers often have far more cases than they should. The problem is people don't care or pay attention till something like this happens and then they move on with their day.
It seems like a lot of children get left behind by the system or at least not checked up on or anything. I don't understand why social services can't do a better job but then I'm like oh it's America God forbid they have well-funded social anything. You can thank Republicans for going for the lowest bidders and not properly funding social services here in America because apparently war and killing people we don't know is far more important to them
That’s the system if you’re a poor single mother they’ll take you’re kids rather than help. But if you’re an evil and abusive parent just look the other way
CPS is one of those things that people say they want when there's a case that falls between the cracks, and then people say that CPS is too overbearing if they're allowed too much power to investigate. It's a hard balance to strike.
I fostered children for a long time. Adopted 3. This story is horrific, but there are so many others while not as bad , still heartbreaking. The system is so broken.
I can't get over the fact that they abandoned their first child -with no explanation as to why-(not that there is any excuse) and were allowed to adopt 3yrs later. They didn't accept Lee's interests and made fun of her, yet complained that people didn't accept their lifestyle. What makes this even more heartbreaking is that some tried to help the children but despite reporting what amounted to physical abuse and neglect no real action was taken until it was too late.
Adrian is right, if a child is digging for food from a trash can then that says more about the caretakers than the child. These evil mothers were obviously just using the foster system to get government checks and a few social media likes. They used all that money on themselves and couldn't even feed their kids. Pure evil.
Abandoning the foster daughter should've thrown up a huge red flag to any adoption agency. These 2 should've never been allowed to adopt after abandoning a child from a stable home. She was likely harder for them to control so that's why the others they adopted were younger. And I'll never understand how CPS can be constantly called to a home and the children not be removed. To me it seems their life was all for show to get attention on social media. Those photo ops were likely orchestrated by the mothers as well. They didn't really want the children. They just wanted the attention they got from them.
The first child being abandoned by them was actually a blessing. I know the foster care system needs foster parents, but it should be a limit on how many foster children you can have at the same time.
As an ex foster kid, this case broke my heart & filled me with an immense amount of anger. Most of the abuse i've experienced in my 23 years on this Earth, have come from foster carers. Foster kids are put into care simply because their parents can't look after them, for whatever reason that may be, & that's okay, it's better for the child & parent if that's the case. However, being put into a home where you don't know anyone, it's bound to take a while to get used to your new environment & these new people in your life. Adjusting to a new scenario, doesn't just happen overnight, especially not with children. But these babies trusted those 2 women. Trusted them to provide, comfort & care in a way a mum would. Trusted them to wipe their tears when they feel sad or broken. They trusted them to give them food, shelter & a warm bed to go to every night, as well as a home full of love & laughter. They never got any of that. Those poor children, who deserved love, care, affection never got any of that, but instead had their lives taken away from them at the hands of 2 monsters. It's incredibly frustrating & disgusting, i feel like the system failed these kids as well, something should have been done at the first signs of abuse, most likely, these kids would still be here. Im not surprised if nothing was done due to the fact that all 6 kids were of colour, quite frankly, that's disgusting. Idgaf what the Harts excuse was as to why they did this, they're trashy bitches & i hope they rot. Rest in paradise to Abigail, Hannah, Markis, Sierra, Jeremiah & Devonte, gone but never forgotten. Hope they are dancing & laughing in the heavens. ❤️
That poor boy was probably crying while hugging strangers because he so badly wanted to be rescued. It’s incredibly sad that the world saw that picture of Devonte as a beacon of hope for unity. Absolutely heart wrenching.
I can't watch this without feeling unrelenting rage. Those kids deserved so much and we can only take solace that they will never have to deal with those monsters again.
This story always infuriates me. Those poor babies didn’t do anything. For the system, these demons, and everyone else involved to have a hand in each of their deaths is so effed up. RIP sweet babies. I wish I could’ve done something to prevent your demise
These true stories have taught me that if a young child is begging for help, I need to ALWAYS get involved and call the police AND child services and I need to follow up every day and keep an eye on those neighbors. My ass is not gonna stress about neighborly conflict. Children matter more than anything.
Don’t call police or child protective services! Take them to the ER to get all labs done. The hospital calls CPS but having a medical record with abuse or malnourishment will help more. Thanks to another commenter for pointing it out!
I don't want to accuse anyone of anything negative, but I find parents who create a social media life around their children/family life generally suspect. Definitely unhealthily greedy for attention and fame. However, there must be a special place in Hell for these two terrible women.
yup and those who took photos of their food & their selves every single time,..was dating a person just like this, broke it off with her in a week...best decision made,..
Completely agree. I unfollowed an Instagram account because the parent had a separate account for their two year old daughter. I disliked that, decided they didn't need my following
@@taratee I really don't understand what's wrong with parents like that. I mean, if adults want to boost their self-esteem or generate extra income by publicly marketing their own lives, it's one thing (and even that I don't really understand), but marketing their children's privacy?
I hate when people say “I don’t wanna get involved into this drama” no you would have saved someone life but you chose to stand by and watch. Good job.
It blows my mind that two women who met in childhood education classes of all things were both simultaneously monstrous enough to do this. The way they went about dehumanizing those kids lives was so sickening to listen to...
Sadly there are people attracted to jobs like that because it gives them the chance to abuse. Happens with every job that gives people an ounce of authority over others.
And it's generally clear to neighbours that there's something not right with homeschooling children who are abused behind closed doors. They sometimes have a hard time reporting it because they think it's not their place to pry into their neighbour's lives. Thankfully this neighbour trusted his gut and took action to report it. The system just needs to take these reports more seriously.
I think children should be given a chance to assimulate with other children before being removed, I wish I didn't go to school because I was abused by teachers and students because human beings are scum. But some kids might be normal and able to mix with other kids
Homeschooling should be the last option because of medical or other extreme instances. Not because of anybody's political or religious ideas. It's up to the kid to ugure things out and its cruel to brainwash them like that and deny them the access to education.
@@katroamleft4721 Unless I was a teacher there is no way I would be confident of having the skills to guide a child to flourish academically. I can't stop crying. They had so many chances for just one adult/ any adult to save them.... everyone failed these poor souls that just wanted love and protection.
@@deniseuhlry9988 People can fail someone and not physically harm them. The two are not mutually exclusive. If social services overlooks signs of abuse that mothers are abusing the children, social services and the mothers failed them. Very simple to comprehend.
How horrible that Lee can be seen as “lucky” due to these women’s actions. She still got traumatized but I wonder how she deals with knowing she could have been with them
This case makes me so angry and upset. These innocent kids could have been saved and their deaths could have been avoided. It makes me angry that no action was taken after so many visible red flags. Kudos to the neighbour for stepping up and reporting the abuse to authorities. Sadly it fell of partially def ears. Those two women, those monsters could have let the kids be. Authorities and rescue crews should have left their bodies to rot in the ocean. They don't deserve respect, not even a respectful burial.
For emotional & social reasons, them being women would have helped them get away with it, even more so that they were politically "progressive" and showed it; and again bc they were attractive. I think a lot of ppl want to display as poltically progressive bc it displays to everyone that you are a good person. That is the social pressue i have always felt & even done it myself. Also being suspicious of them in that social environment would get the label "homophobe" bc it isn't equal. Same for how Theranos creator Elizebeth Holmes got away a very easily exposed sceme for so long - ppl were afraid of being called sexist; and feminists want females to be superior to males. You can see this dynamic in the case, where experienced investors should have known better & didn't independently test the product.
@@pebblepod30 I agree. Their community would have denied them doing any wrong, and protected them from accusations. Unfortunately in cases like this, the authorities hesitate because they're worried about the negative criticism to come of them after. Like for example, when they pull over a person of colour, they get labelled a racist when they're just doing their job. I partially blame the schools here, as they found out about the abuse, they didn't really report it to the police or the children's protective services. People let them get away with it. That's very upsetting. I hope they eat a bowl of guilt everyday.
What???!! They kept moving! They kept running away each time CPS was onto them! Watch it again without your biases! Listen, as in active listening. I was impressed that CPS was on their tails each time teh school reported them. They have to do an investigation, yet these guys would leave immediately!

As someone who watches and listens to a lot of true crime, you sometimes get a little numb for the horrors, but this case really F's me up. What a terrible terrible tragedy. My heart breaks for the poor children.
So... in America, after having abandoned a foster child, you're still eligible for adopting(!!!) children! Incomprehensible. Bothe women failed at life - professionally first. They went to college and ended up in retail? Don't get me wrong; retail work is a noble&ivery important job. But those two stuck-up monsters thought they were 'special'. From 'good family backgrounds'. So I can imagine why they thought their job was sort of a 'fail'. Also, their coworkers hated them, especially that Jennifer woman. So... they thought their failed life would be solved by adopting children left and right and showboating them - for causes that are extremely important and must be taken seriously. Disgusting. The whole story is- from not feeding those poor kids, to not providing them with even toys... And then they rage-quited. If there would've been only the 2 of them, the "parents", it had been the decision that would've been the most welcome, as they deserved no life of any kind. But taking those innocent children...! Very disturbing case.
@@janie567 well its because the 1st child was NOT adopted. She was a FOSTER. That's why. Fostering kids is actually usually only a temporary home situation to begin with. Yes, this exactly. I was always an underweight lanky kid because of genetics. There is a huge difference between a skinny child and one who isn’t being fed. Especially when all the kids appear malnourished at once. Huge red flag
My thoughts exactly. Though I'm sure that the follows were worried about the context rather than the reality of the situation. There are petty attention seekers in all religions and cults.
I swear!! I love feeding people and I love children with big appetites. Cooking for others is my love language. I could never deprive a child of food. People are really sick in the head.

I know the first child that was fostered must have been devastated at being dumped off back into the system, but this ultimately saved her life. My heart goes out to all those kids 💔
I am a Social Worker, and I remember this story, and it was just sickening. They were using the kids to promote so-called 'Social Justice causes', but were abusing and not feeding them. They were two wicked women, who should not have been let anywhere near kids.
had these women actually known anything about "social justice causes," they should have known how irresponsible it was to stage, take, and post a picture of a crying black child hugging a police officer in full riot gear at a BLM protest. they could have used their advantageous upbringings to help make real change, but facebook likes were more important to them.

How incredibly brave of the children to speak up about bruises, run to the neighbors house and ask for help. Most children would never dare to even speak the truth when asked about abuse at this level. Thats what hurts the most is that they tried so hard to get out of that situation, there is nothing more they could have done, and still the world failed them 😢
If a child comes to you and says they’re being abused and not to tell the abusers where they are, why would you do the complete opposite? The son in law should have notified the authorities before turning Hannah over to her abusers. Too bad that’s a choice the son and law will have to live with for the rest of his life. At least the father in law tried to intervene and call for help.
Right? For the rest of his life he will have to know that he gave a kid back to people that she said were going to hurt her. I imagine the wife argued with him and got mad and told her dad and that’s why HE had to make the call. What a crappy guy
I followed this story. These women were evil to the core. They starved the children, didn't give them clothes to wear. They had even snuck out to beg for food. They adopted these kids for the money and nothing else. Dragging them to protests. The photo of Davante hugging a cop with tears running down his little face kills me.

I feel like abandoning a child you adopted should disqualify you from adopting another child.
Not necessarily. There are some children in the foster care system that regular parents who aren't equipped to handle special cases just... can't do it, and they don't often know about it until a few days or months after the child comes home with them. That being said, I also know that those are special cases.

The 911 call made by the father of the neighbour, should have ended the suffering of the children. He sounded so genuine and concerned that the police and social workers should have been swarming over the house.
Police and Social Workers do not have one single f*ck to give about foster children. I know.

As someone who has called about children myself I can say this is horribly typical.
i can assure those “women” are rotting in hell eternally.

I think that if there are allegations of abuse against a child and they suddenly move or are switched to being homeschooled that should be an automatic CPS investigation. Too many tragedies have this in common
This is the most sane and sensible comment I've read so far.

Honestly, the egos on these two are ridiculous. They could have just killed themselves to escape consequences but they were more concerned about their image than the lives of all these kids the literally forced to be around them.

I'm really puzzled as to why, after having abandoned the first child with no warning or explanation, they were given more children.
I’ve never understood that … that alone should have been why they shouldn’t have given more children

It's 2018 they wouldn't dare disrupt a lesbian couples family cause that would be misogynist

That is beyond tragic.. that they were taken from a loving family member’s home, just because of 1 “mistake”. The states should not have that much power to be able to destroy families.
I think alot of ppl get info about fostering and adoption very confused. Either that or they just accidently use the wrong word.
Ppl are out here ..some women can't have their own children. Some literally can not get pregnant and carry successfully to full term. Adoption gave my parents and gives MILLIONS of others HOPE. Btw, when u adopt kids u do NOT pay for them. That ONLY happens during private adoption. Or with having a surrogate mother carrying your child 4 u.
I thought that there was money behind it .Greedy horrible people .
To have called in the CPS 3 times and nothing is done is negligence on their part. What a tragedy!!
Liberal white women get away with the worst human atrocities.
That's the part that baffles me. How were they not instantly blacklisted or something??
It's such a nasty twist that this callousness might've ended up saving this girl's life. I hope she ended up with a much more caring foster family.
Well said.

Unfortunately this incident is a mirror image of something that happened in my life very recently. My 7 year old daughters best friend on earth her first BBF, she was 7 , along with her older brother 13 were placed midday in the back seat of their single fathers tiny truck and told they were going swimming to get in their swimsuits but their father had a plan. He sat parked facing a tiny lake for 20 mins staring while traffic flew by in both directions he waited for an opportunity, a gap in the traffic. When he finally seen a clearing he floor his vehicle and launched into the water this lake being in the city there was several witnesses that seen the whole ordeal. when the truck landed it was partially submerged . that this point the kids terrified screamed for help.
The hardest thing I've ever done as a father is explain to my 7 yr old that her life was about to change and I couldn't fix it that her closest friend in the world was gone.. still to this day my daughter sleeps with a picture of her friend , kisses it good night and prays to her , prays that she's happy that she was now able to be with her mother . a mother that passed away when she was just a baby of cancer .
God, that is absolutely heartbreaking. I hope she can recover, and heal from this loss.

I love that you allow your daughter to remember her friend. That friendship will play a happy part in her future, for sure.

Foster system is to be blamed too for allowing so many children to be adopted by one family. CPS always does a lousy job of investigating.
We all know what card this couple played, and it’s the same card that keeps people scared about talking about what they did.
i dont agree that one family, with the ability to do so, shouldnt be allowed to adopt. however, there should be a very very thorough investigation as to why they are reapplying and take all details of context into account. the things that make this case extra disgusting arent even necessary for what should have led them to removal. they begged their neighbours for food and protection... it shouldnt have taken three days after that call for them to be removed. how the fuck did the neighbours just let them go home after that... how does someone who suspects such great abuse that they keep a journal not repeatedly try to save them. fuck i hate the world soemtimes.
I was a foster kid, from the age of 6 to 20, when I was officially adopted, this story literally crushes my soul EVERY single time I hear it.

Just... *_ugh._*
This whole thing made me sick to my core.
Me too, breaks my heart so much!
Agreed. Infuriating and repellant.
It breaks my heart more than anything to see innocent children hungry and suffering. These women are true monsters.
I have always thought that as well … I hope she’s is doing okay
Thank goodness they abandoned her - she got another chance
I read that she went to the home of a youth pastor, who taught her the power of forgiveness. Apparently she is doing quite well
This story really broke my heart.
But if you’re an evil and abusive parent just look the other way
This could have been prevented if authorities did their job so very tragic the children deserved better
Pure evil.

@@jamesr1703 I think in hindsight she's probably thanking God LOL
What evil women!! how tragic, breaks my heart! RIP little Angels!! Love from South Africa!
The dad speaking to 911 sounded so disappointed in his son in law for telling them she was there despite the desperate plea from her.

These true stories have taught me that if a young child is begging for help, I need to ALWAYS get involved and call the police AND child services and I need to follow up every day and keep an eye on those neighbors. My ass is not gonna stress about neighborly conflict. Children matter more than anything.

Sadly there are people attracted to jobs like that because it gives them the chance to abuse. Happens with every job that gives people an ounce of authority over others.
I am pro homeschool, but any allegations of abuse, followed by a withdrawal from school to “homeschool” demands an investigation asap.
Totally agree.

Also being suspicious of them in that social environment would get the label "homophobe" bc it isn't equal. Same for how Theranos creator Elizebeth Holmes got away a very easily exposed sceme for so long - ppl were afraid of being called sexist; and feminists want females to be superior to males. How incredibly brave of the children to speak up about bruises, run to the neighbors house and ask for help. Most children would never dare to even speak the truth when asked about abuse at this level. Thats what hurts the most is that they tried so hard to get out of that situation, there is nothing more they could have done, and still the world failed them 😢
This is possibly the most heart-breaking case you have covered. I am all but speechless. I hope such situations never happen again.
@@korridarkheart2342 I doubt he cares
Because they’re black kids and he doesn’t wanna be involved in that.
@@RoseGolden0 how long did you know them to make that assumption
Some people don't like to take off the rose colored glasses.
I followed this story. These women were evil to the core. They starved the children, didn't give them clothes to wear. They had even snuck out to beg for food. They adopted these kids for the money and nothing else. Dragging them to protests.
The photo of Davante hugging a cop with tears running down his little face kills me. I know now it's because he was hungry for food and love.
Sometimes it's not even about the money. Some ppl are just plain evil to the point that they ENJOY treating others this way. I personally, don't think money was a motivation in this case. I think these 2 ppl were just plain monsters who had their fun this way.
U do NOT get money to adopt ANY child!! U can not just BUY them! U only are able to get financial assistance when fostering. HUGE difference there.I can't help but be offended cuz I AM adopted. Not in ANY way trying to defend these 2 monsters but I just can not believe how many ppl have NO idea what they're even talking about on here. Good Lord man.

Spot on
@@baltimorechick2092 They were receiving monies. From the news I read, not all were adopted, but fostered.
@@wizzardofpaws2420 omg. Why why would u even bother saying this when we both know u don't know what ur talking bout? Just to say I'm wrong? Wth? I never said otherwise. I'm going on what was said on the actual video. That 3 were adopted. Then the last 3 were too. Get ya facts right plz. I ONLY said ppl don't IF the child IS adopted. So...your point?
Social services had so many opportunities to save these children, it’s so incredibly sad that the children themselves did everything in their power (even throwing themselves out of a 2nd floor window, to get help) to bring attention to the abuse they where all receiving. But social services truly dropped the ball and procrastinated. Even after teachers, neighbours, family & friends where also trying to get them help by reporting the abuse/neglect to social services.
Yes. They definitely did drop the ball on this. ANY word or phrase we would come up with would still be a gross understatement.
They never care...They failed me as well. My mom knows someone who works with CPS and her co-workers bully her for actually doing her job. Her co workers claim it makes the rest of them look bad and stop trying so hard. The women from CPS refused to listen to me.
@@Leviackerman15256 I don't understand. How were u failed? Is your mother BAD?
@@baltimorechick2092 Agreed. I looked this up and Adrian didn't mention that working monster (I refuse to say their names) was charged with assault after abusing the kids, but she was only asked to do 1 year of community service. Why the kids were not taken away I don't know.
@@baltimorechick2092 my father and step mother sexually mentally and physically abused me at a young age up until I was 15 when I ran away to live with my mom
Bless that man that cared enough for those children to let authorities know what happened that night.
