Yes, I understand that it is a weak argument and reason as many Christians have many apologetics. I share how it led me to start doubting the nature of God as described as all knowing, all good and all powerful.

@@Stinky97000 If there is no God then evil does not exist. It definitely is a weak argument considering you now don't have any objective standard to judge evil by. So in that case God cannot allow or be evil since it does not exist.

@raiova8550 , morals are value judgments and therefore cannot be objective. What you mean is you believe that your god is the arbiter of morality. That would still be his opinion. Plus, others claim that it's their god dictates morality. Even people that worship the same god as you can't agree on morality.
Question. Why does your god torture billions of children?

@@Stinky97000 Like i said, if God exists then it is a fact that objective morality exist because He would be the objective moral standard.
Then it is not my opinion but a fact i would have to live with wether i like it or not.
I don't see any christians disagreeing on what is moral and what is not. The bible is clear.
God doesn't torture children, we do. Learn to take responsibility.

It's definitely a valid personal reason. The reason why I don't talk much about it with Christian friends/family is because there are infinite excuses that can be made for evil. It's always "we will never be able to understand why, and only this god character with his infinite wisdom knows why this is necessary for good to prevail". Ultimately, his plan is good by default simply because he's god, even when his plan was killing newborn babies. Not a morality that I'm okay with.

@@jod35. Yes it is how i feel from my own observation and research.
Doesnt religion say we are all sinful? So why would you assume or grow cold to God when you see religious people who are bad?
I would never say there is no God because of peoples actions in this world. I also wouldnt believe in God just because of fear but through respect and love for creating everything we take for granted.
People striving to do good through the teaching of God is how the Christian culture shaped the western world. Atheism leaves everything open to individual interpretation and as a result will lead to chaos in the long run.
We already have people giving up life because of hopelessness and despair, young people literally walk in to centres to die and they get assistance in doing so. This is evil, women aborting pregnancies especially late term are also evil.
These things are from atheist belief systems and lacks morals guidance.
Atheism will have you questioning your existence, coming to the conclusion that it is pointless, a life without hope, only living to fulfil our own desires that you always seem to grow tired of. This seems very lonely and empty to me.
Why exist at all? after all when we are dead, it will be as if we never existed, so why would it matter that we existed at all?
This seems pointless to me and it does not make sense when asked why do we exist?
Anyway i think the evil in this world is terrible but that doesnt change how view on God because if there is life after death then God wouldnt see death as such a terrible end. We do though because we cannot comprehend existence after death unless you truly believe. So what we see as suffering, isnt suffering in the long run is there is a God. If there is no God then life is nothing but suffering.

When we are all born not being able to talk does that mean we do not have the capacity to talk and we only begin to communicate in intelligible spoken language because we are taught by others and without being taught then none of us would communicate in words.
I believe some would just grunt for the rest of their lives in total ignorance like Atheists do when it comes to communicating with their creator. While others would seek to speak and find out how to communicate in real terms.

As an atheist, the story of Job brings up hard questions about suffering and fairness. In the story, Job, who is a good person, goes through terrible pain because God and Satan make a bet. This seems unfair to me because Job's suffering doesn’t seem to have a good reason behind it. It paints a picture of a God who allows innocent people to suffer to prove a point, which doesn’t match the idea of a loving and just God. Since I don’t believe in a higher power, the story of Job feels more like an example of how life can be random and cruel rather than a lesson about why suffering happens.

There is actually a perfect kill-shot argument for all religions. The argument is prayer. Prayer is something that can actually be scientifically tested. Each time prayer has been tested, it has never been shown to make a measurable difference in recovery rates. In fact, multiple studies have demonstrated that more secular societies have better health outcomes across the board. Researchers have discovered that most people pray for peace, health, and stability. However, according to available data, many highly religious societies often exhibit higher crime rates, shorter life expectancies, and a greater likelihood of experiencing poverty. Why would a loving god ever allow this to be the case? Why does the universe that God created seem to reward people who explore secular sciences under secular institutions?

You miss out the real point altogether. It is not about God being just Good ----- he will show that at the end when he judges the evil. God is all powerful -- he will show that at the end when he does it.
      Matthew 25
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
REVELATION 20/The Judgment of the Dead
11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
      As i said:
Good - not allow evil to go unpunished
Powerful -- no one will stand before him on that day.
Good because instead of judgement of Hell being a done deal he gives you a choice.
      Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

You raise a good point, and it's one of the big questions I struggled with myself. If the free will argument is meant to explain human-caused suffering, it doesn’t seem to apply to natural disasters, which aren’t the result of anyone’s choices. It’s hard to understand why an all-powerful, loving God wouldn’t intervene to prevent those kinds of tragedies, especially since doing so wouldn’t violate anyone’s free will. It’s questions like this that made me reconsider my faith and seek answers outside of religion. Ultimately, I couldn’t find a satisfying explanation for why so much suffering exists in a world supposedly governed by a benevolent God.

    1. Atoms are the smallest building block of life itself. Who made atoms?
    2. Scientists, Engineers, Mathematicians & Archaeologists have discovered that math is a very complex language used to prove the existence of God. Do you agree or Disagree?
    3. If you don’t believe in God, or anything, what makes up your worldview and what is your thoughts on morality?
    4. You can get nothing from something, but you can’t get something from nothing. Do you agree or disagree?

    • @jod35.
      @jod35.  6 днів тому +1

While we don’t claim to have all the answers, that doesn’t necessarily lead to the conclusion that God created atoms.
It’s important to consider how mathematical principles can be applied to various concepts, but proving God using math is a complex and subjective matter.
I sense some condescension in this conversation. We all hold beliefs for different reasons-some based on personal experiences, others on observable facts. When it comes to morality, we can rely on empathy and the impact our actions have on others, which can evolve as we grow and learn.
I do not wish to have my morals come from God. On many occasions he commands people to do wrong. He observes rapists, murderers and many others do what they do without doing anything.

Atheists tend to see evil, suffering, and death as integral parts of the human experience, shaped by our social interactions and natural instincts rather than by a divine hand. They often grapple with the problem of evil, questioning how a loving God could allow so much suffering in the world. When it comes to death, many view it as a natural conclusion to life, focusing instead on creating meaning through relationships and making a positive impact while they’re here. Ultimately, they emphasize the importance of empathy and human connection in navigating moral dilemmas and alleviating suffering, finding purpose in our shared humanity.

We have a “right” to be confused by evil and suffering. It is very, very difficult to come to terms with this issue, on both sides.
For example, it is possible to assume God Exists by the fine-tuning of the Universe, the complexity of life and many other features of Intelligent Design.
But that does NOT cover the issue of suffering and evil. There are apologetics that attempt to deal with that conundrum.
But to a great many of us, those apologetics fail the “reasonability”test.
God must do MORE to enable us to understand this. We have a right to be “confused.”

It's "why did got choose it to be this way."
If there is a All knowing, All powerful god, that created everything and knows everything, then he designed everything to be a certain way, even free will doesn't make sense, because he knows every single person's future for all of existence even before creating the first human, meaning any tiny decision he made, can lead to a butterfly effect of evil or suffering, ultimately makes him the creator of said evil and suffering and not the "free will" of humans.
Like how is creating heaven with a tree that you should not eat from, a snake that lures people into eating from it, then creates humans, and somehow is baffled and angry that the humans he created ate from it? As if he didn't exactly know what was going to happen, and then punishes humans for it. Like why have the whole ritual, just make women have periods and painful childbirth (and men work a lot i guess) from the start, if you already knew that was going to happen, there was no free will involved.

Listened carefully. I’m interested in discussions about the point dealt . Thank you.
I’m in the deconstruction mode, as everyone is. Seriously thinking about the teachings of Jesus Christ, the MESsiah. I believe in HIM, and believe that HIS teachings are relevant today.
Creator God hides and leaves the creature to assume.
About Stating and affirming the existence of GOD, Jesus stated “even SATan knows that God exists”.
The FAITH in God is different from proving the existence of God.
All Religions (churches and establishments) are rationalistic (Atheistic), as they depend on RITuals rather than FAITH.
RATIONALITY (the foundation of Atheism) is religious, as RITuals (SOPs, systems etc are modern day RITuals) are the foundation of rationalism also.
RAtionality and FAITH are in conflict in the minds of every individual Psyche.
Bible deals with this conflict from Genesis to Revelation.
SATan advises the Psyche to eat fruit of the tree of knowledge and become like God, (fruit forbidden by God).
We need to deconstruct the names and words to have a clearer idea.
Jesus Christ was not a Christian, nor did he intend to create the religion of Christianity (churches).
Jesus preached FAITH and invites rationally MAtured, SMArt Psyches to abandon the MAturity and be BORN AGAIN, and regain the FAITH of the newborn Psyche. He emphasises the importance of FAITH in the statement “ unless Born Again NONE can see the Kingdom of God/ HEAVEN.”
The FAITH of the newborn Psyche Jesus emphasised again “FAITH of the size of mustard seed can move mountain”.
We need to deconstruct every statement/ story to get a clearer picture.
    Rationality?
    Faith ?
    God ?
    SATan ?
Trees at the Centre of the garden.
    Fruit. ?
    Evil ?
    Goodness ?
    Love ?
    AGAPE
    SCIENCE ?
Deconstructing words, let’s start from “ SMArt “ Psyche.
We will split words into elemental sounds used create words and then attempt to understand the meanings of such monosyllabic sounds. We will take words from various languages to understand probable meanings of elemental sounds. Then attempt to combine them into find probable meanings of words.
Who am I. ? My self ! Self MAtures from the newborn Psyche (SA/ sound SA in English Self and Svayam of Indian languages) by adding knowledge (Learning/ eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge) every moment of life. Newborn self (SA) rationally MAtures by updating knowledge (MA, my knowledge) and becomes SMArt to handle the oTHer (Sound TA is found in words about something, anything , everything excluding self, across language boundaries) advantageously. SMArtness to the Psyche is provided by MA (my updated knowledge) the SATH of SATan. Sound “MA” represents the idea of everything that the self considers as mine. My knowledge, my money, my inheritance, my interactive pattern… SMArt Psyche separates “TA” from “SMA” in the thought process by “MA” (my moat, MAsk, my rational boundary) and creates duality in the universe.

It is smarter to be an agnostic than it is an atheist. Atheism leads to chaos and despair, a world without morals where everything is subjective.
Your free will argument doesn't make sense to me, since if we are to be judged by our nature and moral choice then how would it make sense for anything to intervene? The choice would be taken away, so how could we be judged by our own choices morally? This answers your first question about evil too.
The argument for morals is that, it is not subjective but objective, because if it were subjective then anyone could do anything no matter how bad, and we should never have an issue with it, because of course, it was the right thing for them they wouldn't see it as bad. But we know this to be false.
Secondly, without evil how could you have good to appreciate? Without good there is no evil as everything would be subjective and everyone would be doing what they please without any moral obligations, again this is not what we experience. My only doubt with this would come from third world countries where their culture is different and k1ll people in the most horrendous ways like its a normal occurrence.
Morals being objective and being a part of the universe is a hard one to understand. So i have doubts in that area, but that's just one argument of many, and i don't feel that's enough to justify saying atheism is true but there are countless things that just wouldn't make sense if that were true.
I'm not defending Christianity or any other religion as I'm still trying to understand things too, but i find it hard to understand how anyone can come to the conclusion that atheism is the only answer. Its mind boggling to me. Even believing this is a simulation would be a step up because then at least you'd see there's something more to our existence.

’ll put it this way: it’s entirely possible to believe in God’s existence without feeling compelled to worship. This is my own position-I simply don’t find enough reason to believe God exists, let alone worship him.
The difference between us is that you approach the idea of God’s existence with certainty. If God exists, an atheist could acknowledge that reality and still choose whether or not to worship. Meanwhile, an agnostic holds a position of uncertainty-they either don’t know or feel there’s not enough evidence to decide. That agnostic can lean toward atheism (by not believing) or theism (by believing).
Christians often create definitions to support their perspective, much like the way you're framing atheism here. But I’d invite you to present evidence of a creator-proof that could show God’s existence in a way that leaves no room for skepticism. The answer is 0. The properties of a tri-omni god aren't actually present in the bible, when you actually read it. Yahweh is frequently unknowing, lacking foresight and lacking love, patience and forgiveness. He's brash, egotistical, vindictive and sometimes just plain ignorant at times. in fact, there's times when he doesn't even seem to understand how humans work or what they value. The claims of these supposed tri-omni traits came later as believers came up with whatever excuses and claims they could dish out to sell him over other competing gods of the time, while also cementing yahweh's authority so that appealing to him would make one infallible by proxy. It's all just control and manipulation on the part of believers to create a god of their own personal convenience to accomplish their goals without actually having to put real work in.

I am a christian and I really like the questions you have raised. It is because I thought about them as well and I want to know the answers.
There is much I would like to say
    1. But first of all I have to say that these questions are not some new news. Bible deals with them from the beginning until the end. I would even say it is a reason we have the Bible. Bible authors were not people who blindly walked and did not ask any question. Examples: Genesis - Kain and Abel, Noahs ark, Babylon, slavery, wars, etc., Job, Ecclesiastes, Habakkuk chapter 1, etc. Basically every book of the Bible talks about evil.
a/ How did God judge evil?
    - like on a single story there is so much to show, but for me, it is the best to go to the beginning
Genesis 3 - the fall of Adam and Eve - cursed
Genesis 4 - Kain and Abel - cursed, Kain has a mark for anyone not to kill him even though he killed first
Genesis 6 - Noahs ark - people were so wicked that judgemnt was death, saved is only Noah by his righteousness and faith
Genesis 8 - Gods will to never kill all living things again
Genesis 9 - if anyone kills a man, he should be also killed, because man was formed by God on His image
Genesis 11 - Babylonian tower, Lord scattered them, because they did not fulfill his word to fulfill the earth
-> and many more, like literally whole Bible is about evil and good and God telling people to do good, when they do not, they are judged, when they repent they can be forgiven, God calls us to forgive others as He forgave us, He did not condemn us right away after 1 sin, but had mercy and gives us eternal life through faith and obedience (another example is Sodoma and Gomorah, where Lot and his family escapes and God does not want to destroy anyone who is righteouss and faithful to God, but the ungodly and wicked)
    b/ Is God evil?
    - Imo No.
    - why? simple answer is because the Bible says so: Psalm 34:8, Psalm 145:9, Nahum 1:7, James 1:13, James 1:17, 1 John 1:5, Romans 8:28, etc.
    - when my child steals something, am I inheritly evil because it is my child? No. I would be evil if I told the child to steal. But if I tell my child to not steal and be good, but my child steals, whos fault is that? Not the childs? Should I force the child at all cost, at the cost of its life, to not steal?
    - why do we have courts? Why do we have judges? If there is a criminal, why do we judge him? Because he has commited a crime, he had a choice, to commit and not to commit evil. He chose evil. That is why there is judgement and punishment.
    - I do not like how sometimes atheists oversimplify moral law and judgement, because there is much to talk about and many different perspectives, especially when you consider love, mercy, compassion
    2. Why is there hunger, natural forces, etc.?
    a/ Hunger
    - first of all I would channelenge you to go again to the beginning and tell me that it is Gods fault that people are hungry today
    - God told Adam and Eve that He gives them every tree bearing fruit to eat from, clearly they have had enough, but they were supposed to take good care of the garden, so are you sure people are nowdays starving because God did not provide for them or can it be possible that people did not take good care of the earth God gave them to take care?
-> imagine a situation, I do not work, I just sleep all day long, even though I am healthy, but I am just lazy, imagine Adam was like that, that Adam was too lazdy to even go grab a fruit from a tree. Would it be Gods fault that Adam was hungry laying on a grass and not picking the apple from a tree? Did God not create men to work and then eat?
    b/natural forces
    - it is pretty clear that at least sometimes it was a way of Gods judgement on people
    - but again, it is also about how we take care of earth, lets just look at one factor and that is deforestation, so when it rains, trees take good care of the rainfall, but I have seen many examples, where humans cut the trees, planted there some seeds, and when rain came, the water had nowhere to settle, but just flew lower and floods came
+ same goes to hot weathers, where forest keeps lower temperature, etc.
    3. If I was god how would I make a world a better place?
    - I would take care of it exactly as God does right now
    Why?
    - because if I became God, and being all knowing and everything He is, from the beginning of time, I would imo see that His/my plan was the best and I actually like some explanations:
a/ If God were to destroy evil, He would have to destroy us
    - one thing I have realized from the Bible is that God is patient and He does not want anyone to perish but to repent - Ezekiel 18:30, Ezekiel 33:11, 2 Peter 3:9
    - Genesis 15:16 - God waited for Amorites to repent, they did not, thats when God sent Izrael to destroy them
    - Jonah, God sent His servant Jonah to preach to Ninive, they believed, repented, God forgave them their sins, if it were you judging, you might have destroyed them years before this moment, but IMO it is Gods love and mercy that waits
I could write more, but I am tired :D
    What do you think?
God says to Habakkuk: "Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told."

Thank you for such a detailed comment and an interesting insight into the believer's mind. I don't know if you believe in evolution, I do. The point on hunger and death by starvation was particularly interesting too me. The gene Homo Sapiens is 200 000 years old, the vast majority of this time people lived in hunter-gathering communities without scripture or agriculture. Agriculture and first fixed settlements are only 12 000 years old. Current scientific estimates say that approximately 110 billion people lived on this planet. The overwhelming majority of these people lived a life of misery, fear, disease and grief. The earlier humans didn't even know agriculture, they couldn't tend the garden. All these people lived in almost constant hunger, they were dying young and losing their loved ones all the time. Every family was bound to lose at least one child to starvation, parasites, preditors, decease, elements or unclean water. Have you ever met a parent who lost their child? They are the ghosts of themselves with nothing but pain in the inside. These people quite often where pagans, and we know God of the bible hates pagans, but he didn't reveal himself early on and they didn't know any better. I wonder what happened to these 100 billion souls if you believe in souls, they lived a very short and extremely miserable life and if we follow the bible it's quite likely that these people are not saved. So I obviously wonder why an all loving God would create souls to live a short period of torture on Earth to than proceed to be tortured forever in hell. Why create humans at all if he hates us so much?

      Good quesiton
      1. First of all I would like to say that I do not believe that God hates his creation. I would compare it again to parent child relationship. A good parent loves his child, takes care of him, feeds him, teaches him. But if the child misbehaves, you try to explain what is right, from what is wrong. If the child misbehaves you punish it, not because you hate you child, but because you love him. You do not want for you child to become abuser, criminal, etc. You want him to have a good future. But what is enough? When would you say to your child that enough is enough, you have made a terrible act of evil, for a long time, you have to be accountable. And remember God is God of all people, not just my child, but also to the child, which my child abused for example. Would a loving and just God not punish the one who abused another human being? If He did not, then imo that would look like He does not love that child which was abused.
If you would like to read passages from the Bible where it says that God wants all nations to be saved, in the OT and NT and also that God punishes wicked men who are Izraelites in the OT, then you can read:
Isaiah 19:25 - Egypt, Asyria, Izrael
      Jonah - Ninive
Daniel - Babylon, especially king Nebukadneccar whom God humbled and he believed in the God of Daniel
Gods judgement on Izrael: Hosea 4:1-3, Amos 2:4, Ezekiel 5:7-8, Jeremiah 25:8-9, ...
Just thinking about it: in the beginning there was no Izrael. All people were His people. The issue was, that people turned away from God and they followed their wicked ways. Therefore God chose Abraham, because He was rightoues and followed God.
      2. I do not believe in eternal hell torture and I do not know how precisely God will those who did not hear about Him as we do nowdays. It is justa question we are not given an answer in the Bible, as far as I am aware. But just interesting thing to think about is f.e. this text: Deuteronomy 1:39
      - here Moses tells Izraelites that those young children whose fault was not that their parents were disobidient towards God, were not judged, and they could enter the promised land
      - another example comes to my mind: Matthew 11:23-24
-> Here Jesus tells Izraelites that it will be easier for Sodoma on the day of judgement than for them, this tells me that God gives different punishment and He acknowledges everything : Revelation 22:12
      3. Question about evolution is a huge one. I personally do not believe in elovution. I know christians that do. But as you have pointed out, evolution shows Gods character to be really cruel, because of the suffering and nonlogical because of the sacrifice of Jesus, He died so we could live, therefore if death did not enter the world through sin, then I do not know why I should be saved from something that was already created. From my perspective evolution does not align with Bible. There are christians that might say something else so I will not speak for them. But for me I do not believe that we as a human race can be 100% sure about evolution taking place as we say.

The moral of the story in Job is that the ways of God far surpass that of humans. Instead we must trust in God even with our lack of knowledge. Now we can be skeptical of this. Should we just put blind faith in God when it obviously looks like there should be no suffering at all? There is an indirect answer to this, the life of Jesus Christ. God Himself experienced the suffering and evils of life. He was tortured and beaten experiencing excruciating pain, but in the end all evil and suffering will be defeated.
