Bad O-line, Weak Ground game, a Offensive Coordinator who Tried to prove he wasn't a joke. A Defense that kept the team behind on points. Blame 50/50 on Him and the Team.
He played good against bad teams mostly. He played well against the Rams and Eagles twice but the Eagles defense was awful last year. He did look good and led in yards briefly but ended up leading the league in ints. Against real competition he struggled mightily and was very inaccurate and inconsistent. He looked like Ray Charles out there throwing at times. It definitely wasn’t just his fault tho the whole team was a dumpster fire.
@@GOCAPSDMV yes he was its like he completely fell off a cliff after that seahawk game no fall off that dramatic can be 100% his fault I still believe in him
First off it was stated before camp that Sam was not going to beat Geno Smith. Geno Smith was number 1 since camp started. Howell is going to be our second guy. But yes, he's struggling. But Gregg Bell is one of the harsher Seattle Reporters in our state. Again, he was never going to beat out Geno Smith, J&D. He will be developing with the team. Give him time.
Corbin Smith from Locked On Seahawks also said he’s struggling. He did say that one day last week he was accurate but D’Wayne Eskridge dropped three perfect throws from him so he isn’t getting the best help.
There's no better person for a guy like Howell to play behind than Geno Smith. If he wants an example of how to be a backup and prepare yourself like a professional it's right there.
Redskin fan here and I’ll bet Sam will be a good qb barring injury. He is still young and CB did him no favors. Compare his stats in his season last year to Peyton’s his first year. As you said worst case the Seahawks have an experienced exciting backup with a potentially high ceiling at a bargain basement price. Seattle Sam has all the intangibles! My guess is if Sam ever comes back to DC and is introduced as the Qb for the visiting team. he will be greeted with overwhelming cheers and applause ! Bet
Havent we learned not to trash qbs after 1 season? Anyone watched Howells 2023 highlights? Tons of big time plays and a lot of throws bouncing off recievers hands for picks. At least 8 picks weren't even close to his fault. I'd love to see an adjusted qbr Stat regarding reciever drops for picks. He'll learn behind Geno and if he doesn't there's always the draft. Low risk high reward.
Anyone who thought Howell was going to come to Seattle and take Geno’s spot has no idea how good Geno really was behind an O-line that was worse than Washington’s O-line.
after watching the video I have to say I agree on most everything said. Sam is one of those guys where I think if he gets in the right situation and the right team develops him he could turn into a josh allen type of player. Crazy strong arm, great movement, tough guy, just really inaccurate at times lol. Which is imo a fixable issue and definitely worth the risk of taking him
Blogger for the Seahawks, Brian Nemhauser, was harshly critical of Sam Howell's play, along with Gregg Bell. Coach Mike Macdonald was also critical of Howell.
Sam howells comanders were sacked 65x 2nd most in the league. Seahawks allowed 35 sacks. Now put howell behind seahwks O-line its a whole different season for him.
Seahawks oline was just as bad if not worse lol. Geno was just one of the best at escaping sacks. Amazing pressure to sack rate for Geno, whereas Sam always holds the ball too long.
Howell is a really good backup. He threw the most INT’s and took the most sacks last year. Great pickup for backup given his ceiling and the price Seattle played.
If you told me 5 years ago that Geno Smith would be a roadblock when it comes to a starting job I wouldn't have believed you... I didn't think Geno would be a full time starter ever again after he flames out with my Jets
As someone with no affinity for either Washington or Seattle I think it's a good move for Seahawks. Geno likely to be the starter this season and gives Howell a chance to shadow a more experienced QB and then potentially take over as the starter for 2025/2026. Showed flashes of how good he could be at Washington, certainly has more weapons at the Seahawks
Dan Quinn gave the QB decision to Kliff. Kliff passed on Sam Howell in favor of a running QB. Adam Peters drafted Jayden Daniels, and Kliff made it clear he had nothing to do with it. Essentially, he removes himself from any form of accountability. They passed on 3 superior QBs plus Sam Howell.
The Seahawks didn’t give up much for Howell, it seems pretty clear to me that the expectations are for him to be a cheap backup with upside for a couple years.
I think you have to factor in Geno has chemistry with his wide receivers and tight ends. Geno has also been there for 4 years. Geno always had a massive advantage over Howell.
Howell was never supposed to start this season. Geno was always the guy. Howell is just a young project qb that may or may not work out but it’s genos team
Howell's situation in Washington was abysmal and should be ignored. Terrible coaches, terrible O Line... just terrible all around. The reason they traded him was the new regime wanted their guy and given they had the number two pick they were getting 1 of the 3 touted QB's in the draft.
I suspect last season's criminal mishandling may have just plain broke Howell. He was seeing ghosts by about week 5. Not sure he will ever truly recover.
Seahawks GM John Schneider wanted and fell in love with Mahomes and Allen, obviously couldn't get them. Also fell in love with Howell. So when he had his chance to get him he did🤷 wish Drew was still here. But Drew will end up QB 1 in NY, all cause that Phili win. Good for him Ps as a hawks fan, sorry about RG3
FINALLY!!!! A video where someone FINALLY says that Geno is the starter and that Sam Howell sucks! If you think that a guy who had 21 touchdowns and interceptions last season should be starting over a guy who did have a good season last year and threw less interceptions than Patrick Mahomes and less in one game than Brock Purdy, you need to be in a mental institution. By the way, why does Howell seem like he had Zac Efron's jaw incident on the thumbnail?
Geno Smith needs to go though. He might play well but anytime he needs to come through he always fumbles or throws an interception. Seattle needs to upgrade at QB. It’s like they’re fine with “just good enough” and that’s just not gonna win a Super Bowl with the mediocre team surrounding him.
Sam Howell didn't have a chance in Washington. We had the worst O Line in the NFL. Also the play calling was terrible. I believe if Sam was still Washington with the line they have now under the play caller they have now, he would take them to the playoffs. By not picking a QB Washington could have picked a couple of top tackles in the draft.
Everybody's a "Captain Obvious" .. The Commanders were stupid on another level to let Sam Howell go.. Sam at the very least is a solid back-up QB and he was still on a rookie contract so you had him on the cheap.. The Commanders OC Eric Bienemy last year was absolutely horrible .. In addition the Commanders current back up QB Marcus Marriotta is some straight hot garbage.. Sam is better than Marriotta so it was a stupid move to let him go.. The Seahawks got a bargain !
If the Seahawks want to have any chance at a future they have to play Sam regardless. Geno won’t win you shit. Sam still has uncovered potential. Geno is what he is. If Seattles goal is to play for a shitty draft pick then by all means go ahead and play Geno. Seahawks need to play Sam just off of what he could be, if they don’t it’s a sign of incompetence in the front office. Geno Smith is what he is at this point, there’s no way he will get better in the years going forward he will only start to decline as his age ramps up. If the Seahawks start Geno Smith that’s a terrible sign for their front offices intelligence and Sam Howell himself.
Wtf are you talking about with Seattle QBs missing time? In 10 years Russ missed 3 games and Geno has missed 2.
