I live in Philly. I live 10 minutes from South Jersey and growing up here was Bruce land. I am a major fan of the Who. I am also a major fan of the Boss. That took balls for Roger to do that live but The Who were a very ballsie bunch of guys.
I was there! It was at the Fonda in LA around 2004 or so. A benefit for Teenage Cancer Trust. Can't remember the whole band, but it included the great Frank Simes on guitar, Tony Silver on bass, Bree Darling vocals and percussion, Rodney Alejandro keyboards, Rob Ladd on drums.
Wow! It is such a risk for famous lead singers to start to veer off off from what they do best.. This is such a great cover .. I totally didn't expect this. Gotta love Roger Daltrey. People better appreciate him now because its hard to say how many years he can keep performing at such a high level
Ive seen Rog do numerous covers live from Mose Allison, Johnny Cash, The Pirates, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Rolling Stones, The Beatles and I thought I had every single bootleg available but this is FUCKING FANTASTIC!
Fantastic rendition of one of my top 10 songs of all time! I'm sure Bruce has heard this and would be very proud especially the great fantastic voice of the one and only Rodger Daltrey!
This is A AMAZING PERFORMANCE FROM Sir Roger Daltrey and the WHO ! And I'm The Greatest Brazilian Fan of The BOSS ! Congrats Sir Daltrey ! And I know they don't give a Shit about my personal opinion !
Good performance - he had one of the greatest voices of his generation, and it's still not bad...Always a challenge covering springsteen, with his huge water buffalo voice...
I like the original better. But this is great. Roger Daltry is one of the very best frontmen in rock history. The Boss is great because he writes great songs, and puts on the best show anyone has ever seen, not because of his voice. If anyone wants to attack this astounding version of a great song, mommy needs to take you to the record store to buy some of the greatest rock CDs ever. If she does, you'll hear some material by The Who (with Daltry singing) that will blow your mind.
I've got a Love/Hate relationship with covers. I'd love to have seen Daltry do this. It's not The Boss, but it's a helluva good cut. And, it's not Clarence, but it was still fun. And isn't that what it's all about?
I think someone is being a bit mean. Roger used to have a stutter but he managed to lose it - mostly. It comes back sometimes a little bit but not much.
@@helenbryant404 (I realize your comment was four years ago; forgive me) I don't think Dawn is referring to Roger and his stutter. I think what Dawn's referring to is the way Bruce Springsteen sings the track which, in some instances, can come across as unintelligible with certain lyrics. :-)
Autre version de Born to Run par Roger Daltrey💥Springsteen Tribute and Joey Tempest🥰awesome good🔥wouah, baby Born to run, who, who, oh, oh🌹but my Préférence is this from Joey Tempest💋
When I was a kid, the world had two musical poles; The Who and Springsteen. My three favorite albums of all time are "Darkness On The Edge Of Town" and "Who's Next". While Springsteen has probably aged a little better (for me, anyway), the real question is - why choose? Enjoy it all.
Anyone listening in 2021? I just heard this for the first time. No, Daltrey should have left this song alone. He is the original and the best ever certifiable rock god, but most of Springsteen's music is his personal story. Daltrey doesn't share the life experience to convey the emotion of the story. Springsteen would likely not due justice to any of The Who's anthems. I can't hear him performing "Long Live Rock" with any credibility, or "Baba O'Reilly" or even "You Better You Bet". I am a huge fan of both artists and their bands, but their music is not interchangeable. Bad choice of material to cover.
Hey Moonfan, thanks for deleting my post, by the way, the reason for all these posts is because the Springsteen website, Backstreets had a link to it in the one of the posts, so I checked it out. Bruce is still the greatest writer of all time.
@tays69 I disagree. Often times covers are better. The Who is my favorite band but I absolutely love Tenacious Ds cover of Squeeze Box far more than the original. All ALong the Watchtower isn't known as a Dylan song. Who had the best version of Blinded by the Light? Led Zeppelin covered plenty of songs, making each better. Covers can be great but you need to keep admiration for the original as well.
Daltrey is a great singer but this song is lame & played out - that’s why he forgot the words; listen to his cover of Say It Ain’t So Joe or Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me
No one can debate that Daltrey is one of the great rock voices of all time, but Springsteen's Born to Run said more in 10 songs than the over-wrought, over-indulgent Quadrophenia did in 17 tracks which is, by the way, about 12 songs too long.
Bruce's last great work Rick Hansen. He's been playing the hapless prole leftist since 1978. He can't sing his way out of paper bag these days either. You POS
love Roger and Bruce, but this version sounds like karaoke. Roger is known for his long notes screaming, why he didnt do that on this song I dont know, it calls for it. Not a great version
Passable but totally unexceptional cover of an artist that Daltrey could never hope to understand and appreciate. Any seasoned bar band could as well, if not better.
"just a minute, whats the bloody first line mate?"!!! that's f*cking hilarious!!
got 2 love Roger!!!
This is awesome! I love the Boss and I love the Who, fantastic cover!
That took alot of balls. Great job!
This song is SO Roger! I'm surprised he didn't cover it earlier.
Unbelievable Mr Daltrey........................A great rendition of a vey difficult vocal......Awesome!!!!......Tshilamoya!!!
I live in Philly. I live 10 minutes from South Jersey and growing up here was Bruce land. I am a major fan of the Who. I am also a major fan of the Boss. That took balls for Roger to do that live but The Who were a very ballsie bunch of guys.
This song suits his voice very well.
In my Springsteen covers playlist with other covers by Allan Clarke and ( a VERY different one) from Big Daddy. Thanks for the upload!
love Roger!!!!
Wow! It is such a risk for famous lead singers to start to veer off off from what they do best.. This is such a great cover .. I totally didn't expect this.
Gotta love Roger Daltrey. People better appreciate him now because its hard to say how many years he can keep performing at such a high level
Oh Roger, forgetting the "bloody first line" so classic.
I love Rog and his voice
Great song cover, love both!
Daltrey pulls it off. No surprise!
Ive seen Rog do numerous covers live from Mose Allison, Johnny Cash, The Pirates, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Rolling Stones, The Beatles and I thought I had every single bootleg available but this is FUCKING FANTASTIC!
What a great great singer the very best
Wow...I really enjoyed that. The band was great.
I go looking for covers of this fantastic song, and I find this. Roger was well ahead of the curve.
Bravo Mr. Daltrey. Well done. It's now one of my favorite covers. Frankie Goes To Hollywood has a fantastic cover as well.
Totally Awesome
Fantastic rendition of one of my top 10 songs of all time! I'm sure Bruce has heard this and would be very proud especially the great fantastic voice of the one and only Rodger Daltrey!
What a great cover,, Roger Daltrey to perform 'Tommy' this year. WOW can't believe it's been 50 years, T was released. Hope to see Roger this summer.
one of the few covers I love just as much as the original.
holy shit, this was really good.... !!! i bet you the crowd was able to yell back to him the first line... ;))
Wow! He sounds ALMOST ( !) as good as Bruce ! 🤩🥳
I never realized just how distinctive and blues influenced his singing is. No one sounds like that. Does Bruce do the microphone twirling too?
Sono sbalordita!!! Fantastico!!! Bellissima versione!!! 😳😳😍😍😍😘😘💘💔💔💯💯
This is A AMAZING PERFORMANCE FROM Sir Roger Daltrey and the WHO ! And I'm The Greatest Brazilian Fan of The BOSS ! Congrats Sir Daltrey ! And I know they don't give a Shit about my personal opinion !
I think only Roger could have done this justice.....And he did!
Kudos Roger....good one!
Stunning version
such an awesome cover
Not a big fan of The Who but love pinball wizard but this is a cracking cover of one of the greatest songs ever written
Best cover!!!! Go Rog!
Holy shit this is the first time that I actually heard the lyrics to this song.
good ol' rock n roll music, way better than the shitty music that we have today!!!!!!
Best cover of BTR I’ve heard
Good performance - he had one of the greatest voices of his generation, and it's still not bad...Always a challenge covering springsteen, with his huge water buffalo voice...

great cover by a great singer...and live too
Great job on this song! Btw - The Who is the greatest band of all time! You know why they are the greatest? They were the first to really rock hard.
I've got a Love/Hate relationship with covers. I'd love to have seen Daltry do this. It's not The Boss, but it's a helluva good cut. And, it's not Clarence, but it was still fun. And isn't that what it's all about?
Long live Roger. The best
Happy birthday you legend! 🌹❤️
once I saw that this was Roger Daltrey, knowing that he wouldnt cover a song a do it bad......this is fn great
I got this (studio ) version by Roger Daltrey on a collection cd with Lemmy ( the eve of destruction ) and Status quo ( Not fade away )
As a fan of both, I don't know what to make of this...but I think I like it...
H
H
H
hes great
Great cover! He adds a bit of”Daltrey” to it without messing too much with the song itself.
Happy Birthday Roger!
Daltry covering Bruce & E Streeters! FUN rocknroll dbl dose!!!!
He's a great singer can sing anything. I'd love to hear him sing unchained meledy
I like covers when they stay true to the original versions
Would love to have heard Roger do this in his prime but very good.
Maybe in a little lower key. He was struggling for those high notes.
I could understand the lyrics better. Great version of an amazing song
?
I think someone is being a bit mean. Roger used to have a stutter but he managed to lose it - mostly. It comes back sometimes a little bit but not much.

Pretty damn good version man.
Thanks for the info, I just hate it when people diss the who, thats all. Bruce is great, and has had a wonderful career. Both some of the best.
the band sounds exactly like the record!
That was friggin' great. The band was dynamite.
Kick fucking ass!
👍👍👍🙏
All of the above...Bruce , Rodger and The Who...
Autre version de Born to Run par Roger Daltrey💥Springsteen Tribute and Joey Tempest🥰awesome good🔥wouah, baby Born to run, who, who, oh, oh🌹but my Préférence is this from Joey Tempest💋
You know, Roger, when Springsteen covers "Baba O'Riley", he comes in on the first note. Still an awesome cover.
Not too Shabby Rog!! Even the sax was ok!! Just having fun!!
He has a good voice
WHO knew he could cover The Boss
When I was a kid, the world had two musical poles; The Who and Springsteen. My three favorite albums of all time are "Darkness On The Edge Of Town" and "Who's Next".
While Springsteen has probably aged a little better (for me, anyway), the real question is - why choose? Enjoy it all.
How the hell have I never heard this !?
British Invasion on Route 9
Game recognizes game
When was this recorded?
Meat the true boss better then the old boss
Check out his cover of Into My Arms by Nick Cave

so ur a fan of both bruce and roger or both bruce and the who?
I love both Roger and Bruce. To me this isn't an improvement on the original.
no sabía nada de la existencia de esta versión
I'd like to hear Dave Grohl cover this
Hey Moonfan, thanks for deleting my post, by the way, the reason for all these posts is because the Springsteen website, Backstreets had a link to it in the one of the posts, so I checked it out. Bruce is still the greatest writer of all time.
That's ok Rog. You don't have to know the first line. It ain't The Who!!!
He forgets them too
does he
@yfz01 For the record, Bruce's Blinded by the Light is better than Manfred Mann's in my book. But I totally agree with the sentiment.
Awesome cover song....but why is he behind bars....he should do a cover of "I had the time of my life".....soon Mona
SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURE HE IS YOU JUST KEEP TELLING YOURSELF THAT.
Forgetting the first line happens sometimes. IDK about stopping the song tho.
@tays69 I disagree. Often times covers are better. The Who is my favorite band but I absolutely love Tenacious Ds cover of Squeeze Box far more than the original. 1) Kinks
2) Bruce
3) Who
Not bad at all!
RIP Clarence Clemons.
Wow, Roger, forgot the first line, he's getting old.
hahahaha
Bruce should be flattered that Roger's done his cover.
Daltrey's a MUCH better singer than BS..
+trfesok OK, lets compare apples to oranges next!
Some people do like apples better than oranges
trfesok But other people like oranges better than apples. : )
It's all a matter of taste...
Exactly why he's a much DIFFERENT singer. Not better. : )
Great cover until the Sax decided to do whatever the fuck he wanted
Daltrey is a great singer but this song is lame & played out - that’s why he forgot the words; listen to his cover of Say It Ain’t So Joe or Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me
Refuse listen to lefty bruce but like the song
No one can debate that Daltrey is one of the great rock voices of all time, but Springsteen's Born to Run said more in 10 songs than the over-wrought, over-indulgent Quadrophenia did in 17 tracks which is, by the way, about 12 songs too long.

It's good , but it ain't the BOSS..
Mark no he's much much better
Allan Clarke covered it better
pish.
Passable but totally unexceptional cover of an artist that Daltrey could never hope to understand and appreciate. Any seasoned bar band could as well, if not better.
Anthony Flynn you don't know what the fuck your talking about
LMAO. You actually think you know what Roger understands and appreciates? Get off the pipe!! lol
Just shut up. You're an idiot.
Bullshit
Anthony is a dope, he likely lives in some shit hole town in the midwest.
