Man I had no idea about Gemini being an old track and felt the same while listening to track from new album.. I commented some where that this feel sets JP apart. Although today there are plenty of technically sound guitar player. But that Jo feel sets him apart
what is crazy is he wrote this as a combined warm up on his rock discipline dvd. This song covers all the topics he covers, its pretty much a jam/warm up for him.
Can't believe I'm just seeing this video for the first time TEN YEARS after its been on UA-cam. I've had the bootleg audio of this for longer than that! Obviously, all the shred parts are awesome. But all these years later, I think what's so unique about this track is the section from ~ 3:27 to 4:43. Shades of Scarred and (parts of) A Change of Seasons, all this around the time when Dream Theater almost started veering into a more Jam Band-y/Fusion sound, which they obviously all but abandoned by the time Rudess came around. IMO, it was more dynamic, eclectic, and musical (or at least musically interesting), which I think a lot of us appreciated. Just my thoughts; Cheers!
Man, I had downloaded the audio of this video off of Napster back in the day. It's the same audio, and now I can see the video! I love finding these rare gems of Petrucci.
That slow melody from 1:30 to 3:00 is quite simply brilliant and one of the most beautiful melodies I know. It has been on my mind from the day I heard it first some five or six years ago. Considering mr. Petruccis melodies it ranks up there with the ending from take the time.
Sergio Garcia I own a JPM P4. I’ve been playing guitar for about 20 years !! Do I really won’t get it ?!?!?!?!? Yeah, he has changed his style since he switched to MusicMan, specially when he improvises live...I know what are you talking about. But his feeling and musicality is still there !!
i have been a DT fan for 15 years, seen and heard almost everything they have ever played and recorded and I always wonder what song this was, as little parts of it show up all over the place......
I wish it was released as the Petrucci's studio record. I so much love the 0:00-~1:10 part... Asnoldo: Great that this video is finally on youtube! Thanks!
yeah..everytime i prepare myself to a gig, or just practicing, i give myself an hour or half to listen to JP's stuff, especially Kindred Spirits frm LTE, love the main passage, and that ending part, it's just so nice, my ears are lovin it!..JP is such an inspiration...i respect the guy. JP 4ever
I look allot at other great guitarists. But I can't help that Petrucci is my favorite player. Its so inspiring. I keep falling back on him and Dream Theaters music. Its just a combination of everything. Even if Guthrie Govan is more technical. John has an awesome sense of Soul, as well as skill and he can play just about every style, but in his own way. He is very recocnizable, and that's what I like. Long Live Dream Theater.
So in the late 90s there was a dt import/bootleg I bought at a cd store here on Long Island ... from them playing in Germany -Ancienne boulique ? Venue. He foreshadowed Gemini in his guitar solo feature. So interesting the ideas never make it to DT albums but he stores them for other reasons
Okay , the new gemini is far superior in the places he changed. Shows john has not lost it. He can improve upon his mid 20s self , a rare feat as a musician.
as what ive heard, the part from 1:46 + it sounds like from the outro of Fate's speaks by Explorers Club (band) John petrucci is a guest guitarist of explorers club, try to listen to that music you will hear that 1:46 part there
All time john petrucci' solo what im lookin for now reveal how it looks like 4:28 , this made me curious for a long time to see how he do it after so many years. I heard just from audio. And now 12 years just show up on my home video. Special thanks to this channel for uploading this treasure 👏
He's still THEE Petrucci- i saw him last month for the Images and Words 25th anniversary tour. My gosh!!! not one deviation from his 90s style and tone! He's a league of his own..
Man, I love u so much!!! I was looking for this about 10+ years since I got the mp3!!! I love this solo!! thank you so much!! The quest is...Where did u find it??????????? Its very rare!!!
there needs to be studio version of this... think it was recorded in his home studio cause you can hear parts of it in his guitar lesson video called " rock discipline"
His precision is fucking deadly... I bet his dad really did put a 12-gauge to his head to make him practice and be disciplined about his guitar playing.
I don't fucking understand why he never made a studio cut of this. Over half the song is on the rock discipline CD during the transitions between segments. It's the clearest you can hear it.
It's a shame he never actually jumped in the studio and recorded this song. I don't see why he didnt, he obviously spent enough time writing it out, its not an improv piece. Oh well, it's too late now. He would probably say it's too "dated" or something for the stuff he plays now.
he was a way smoother guitarist back in these days, hes probly faster now but in order to be as smooth as he was during this time his purpose in life has to be nothing but playing guitar again....hes more of a family man now.
That moment when you return to this video in 2020 because Gemini is finally announced to be on John's new solo album. Rejoice, my friends.
Oh yesss! 🤟🏻
That’s why I’m here!
Today was upload in his channel my friend!!!
I just was like...aww wait...I've heard this as a kid
so damn f...ing true xD
but ... hell yeah nonetheless !!!
Petition:
John Petrucci have to release
Gemini on his next Solo Album!!!
Copy Paste everywhere guys!!!
Your wish came true
@@Music20275 it did hahaha
Yeah!!✌️🤘🤘
This aged well!
@@quiiquee it did hahaha
Ha! This explains why Gemini on his new album had a taste of that old school Dream Theater. Thanks for posting!!
Man I had no idea about Gemini being an old track and felt the same while listening to track from new album.. I commented some where that this feel sets JP apart. Although today there are plenty of technically sound guitar player. But that Jo feel sets him apart
You said everything dude!!!
The first time i heard the Gemini`s riff was in rock discipline...Then when I hear the album ... it all made sense x.x
what is crazy is he wrote this as a combined warm up on his rock discipline dvd. This song covers all the topics he covers, its pretty much a jam/warm up for him.
John Petrucci is by far the best guitarist in this unvierse !! I mean his music (and Dream Theater's) is so damn good and inspiring.
JP FTW !!
He played a lot of parts of this song in his instructional dvd.
We need a studio version of this song!
He just grant your wish ten years later fam

Same here - had the bootleg audio when I was 16 so 22 years ago. And now finally seeing it 😂

Who came here after terminal velociry tracklist was revelead?
I
He had that gem in his head all his life and finally released it when he felt it was perfect
That slow melody from 1:30 to 3:00 is quite simply brilliant and one of the most beautiful melodies I know. It has been on my mind from the day I heard it first some five or six years ago.
Considering mr. Petruccis melodies it ranks up there with the ending from take the time.
10 years later and I still want to hear it. For the love of everything holy, make this into a studio track.
I hope I had some small part in getting the song on the new album!
How did this not get a recorded album version
This song is insane
The best tone ever==== PETRUCCI!!!!!!
this is cool. Looks like when he recorded it he added the spanish guitar in the middle thing. nice
I really, really miss 90ths Petrucci.
Just listen to Terminal Velocity 2020 and be happy !
@@WillColaneri You didn't get it William and as I can see you never will.
John's soul left off with those ibanez he used to play. I MISS THAT TONE SO DAMN MUCH.

John has said he is definitely going to put out another solo album and I would be really surprised if this wasn't on it
You were prophetic!!! 👍🏾
i have been a DT fan for 15 years, seen and heard almost everything they have ever played and recorded and I always wonder what song this was, as little parts of it show up all over the place......
So cool to finally have this one officially released...although I actually prefer the solo in this version.
Finally he's going to release this song!!! About time!!!
I wish it was released as the Petrucci's studio record. I so much love the 0:00-~1:10 part...

Still wish he would put this out on a cd or even as a extra on itunes or something ...ahhh this solo never gets old

Goven is masterful. Petrucci is not, IMO, less so.
@@SAagreedSA funny...
I LOVE when he breaks out his jazz influence too!!

All petrucci fans want this track played studio, why wont you do it mate?!
Because mankind would be killed in the process ...
Check the tracklisting of “terminal velocity...”
your dream just came true #terminalvelocity
Six years later, I can now happily say that it is listed it as a track on his new solo album coming out this fall
Kevin Stewart Guess I’m not the only one who came straight here to watch this after seeing the track listing Lol
Love that old guitar
no problem, it has a true honor to upload such master piece!
I have come from future to tell you this will part of his solo instrumental album 2020 during a dandemic
Dreams do come true, Asnoldo!
Wow! I didn't new it was from that time!!
yeap, it fits very well xD petrucci is one of the best guitars players aorund there, i just cant stop listen music of him and from DT!
Wow!!! Revelations here 🙏🏻🙏🏻
i think iit wasnt ever recorded on studio, i think it was a song that he used to plays!

Damn, this is a really good song! I would probably need 10 years to learn it :)
voltaspeeder17 in two years you can play this!!!
Can you play it now
he played some part of this on his "once in a live time" solo (if i am not mistaken)....
i want his next solo album to be more proggresive type, near to DT on their early days..i'm missin those tunes...like this, gemini...it's an art!!!

Back in the day when he was John Petrucci. Thee Petrucci. Once.
He's still THEE Petrucci- i saw him last month for the Images and Words 25th anniversary tour. My gosh!!! not one deviation from his 90s style and tone! He's a league of his own..
Comes to the light
Cren Deus pai. Esse aí é o Petrucci do futuro...
Man, I love u so much!!! I was looking for this about 10+ years since I got the mp3!!! I love this solo!! thank you so much!! The quest is...Where did u find it??????????? Its very rare!!!
@asnoldo The intro was recorded in the studio as an background music for one of his dvd's, but never the whole song.
The moment you realize that this is actually an old song. This song is badass!
This song is amazing i wish it was recorded..
It is now
at 1.54 there's a part that is in the "guitar solo" in the "once in a live time's" cd
Perfect, awesome, brilliant !
there needs to be studio version of this... think it was recorded in his home studio cause you can hear parts of it in his guitar lesson video called " rock discipline"
I hope so; i love this song.

I remember you, I was in a little band called Megadeth, never made it to big though.
Its here anyway.... I am crying.....
cool, in the beginning he messes up a few times^^
awesome that even a guitar god messes up^^ kinda makes me feel better while playing guitar
Yes!!!!
Yeahhhh id find this video for years
His precision is fucking deadly... I bet his dad really did put a 12-gauge to his head to make him practice and be disciplined about his guitar playing.
he will and probably it will be out in this year
Ahaha

Looking at covers for the version on his new solo album and find this! Wow! When was this video taken? No idea this song was so old
I don't fucking understand why he never made a studio cut of this. Over half the song is on the rock discipline CD during the transitions between segments. It's the clearest you can hear it.

@rockermetalhead1200 yes he did, look for Suspended Animation. amazing solo album!

right, I have this limewire version, but it is in a bad quality. I EQ'd it as much as possible, but of course it is still far from high end
no problem... take care!!
can hear quite a lot of changes compared to the studio album
thax !
i really dunno...... i have been asking and only i know it was between 94-96.... when i get the exact date i'll tell you !
Eita cachoeira e eu achando q a música era nova, recente e tals kkkk é mais velha q meu filho kk
