  • Part 15 of 33 of a road trip from Brisbane to Tasmania, returning via Victoria's Great Ocean Road, Central Victoria, Great Alpine Road and Canberra.
This part of our trip took us to our next accommodation at Snug via the long route. We drove south from Hobart, called at Southport and continued on to Cockle Creek, the end of the road on the east coast.
Cockle Creek is the start of hiking tracks into the southern rain forests and rugged coastal areas. It also has historic significance for the early discovery of Tasmania by Europeans. On our return later in the day we called at apple producing areas, oyster producing river ports and ship building locations, before turning to the east coast at Port Franklin, to reach Snug.
