  • In this episode, we reset the TPMS Sensor with a PAPER CLIP!!! Yes, you heard me correctly. It's one of the easiest DIY Procedures for your Nissan XTerra. If you have Rock Tires, then you probably have a TPMS light on your dash as well. Use this simple trick to clear it as often as you need. This saved me $25.00 and a trip to the Dealership!!!

They just replaced my ECM in my Nissan Xterra (would not start when it was cold) and now the TPMS is on, despite all the tires being at 35 psi. Never had a problem with it in the 13 years I had the car. Will try it.

Great detail this helped me through a 2 yr. standing TPMS light on an 07 Frontier - previous owner took to dealer on multiple occasions where they told him he needed a new module $600+.
Any idea on what triggers these to need to be recalibrated in the first place ?

I believe my issues are with the Nitto tires. I think the sidewalls are too thick to let the monitors communicate with the BCM antenna. But, I'm not sure since I can reset TPMS and it stays clear for a while and then errors out again. No difference when the monitors were new either. IDK 🤔

Patrick Michael I have Mickey Thompson oversized tires as compared to stock & got it to clear with those . But it had standard tires installed when I got it & had the same issue. I’ve never had a fully cleared dash between TPMS / check engine & airbag light ..Thanks again.

It works for a 07 Nissan Xterra (4.0) the local shop was asking 80 dollars and it wasn’t even certain that it would work…

what brand of tpms monitors did u use? i just had new wheels and tires installed- i can get the light to flash , but my tire pressures must not be 3 lbs apart- 2011 nissan maxima- went with schrader tpms sensors

TUF TPMS. I believe eBay was the cheapest. I have to reset mine every winter.

Couldnt you hypothetically just drop pressure, disconnect your battery, touch negative to the frame for a little, maybe touch both negative to positive then reconnect and have that reset all sensors etc?

Ok, I did it Got all tires 3 pounds apart Started with Drivers side 34 psi then clockwise to front passenger 31 psi, rear passenger 28 psi then drivers side passenger 25 psi. light was solid before I did it. after tapping it 6 times and grounding it out, it started flashing.
drove it around for 12 minutes, light disappeared then turned solid.
I parked car, shut it off, fill them all to 36lbs "1 pound Extra" turned car on and drove and drove and drove, but light never shuf off 😢
    Where did info wrong 😞

How old are your TPS sensors?

@@PatrickMichael2002 Original sensors from 2006 frontier 42k miles on her as of today.
I can use a doginostic computer and the Sesors can be read showing there address. Not sure if that means they are still functional?

@@ELEVOPR Sometimes when the batteries in the sensors are bad, the reset will not happen until they are replaced. Most tire shops have the tool to reset too. I would try that as well.

@@PatrickMichael2002 Ok, Thanks for the heads up. So are the batteries on the Sensors replaceable or should I just replace all sensors with new ones?
      Thanks for the reply.

    • @PatrickMichael2002
      @PatrickMichael2002  2 роки тому +1

@@ELEVOPR Not replaceable. When one goes bad because of time, the rest usually follow shortly thereafter. At 280K miles, I have replaced mine twice now when installing new tires. However, the sidewalls on the NITTO Trail Grapplers are so thick, it causes interference with the BCM antenna and puts the BANG back on the dash within a day. Like thousands of other XTerra owners, I have learned to live with it. 🤣
