    if ws exercised all our hip muscles by copying the relevant movements our ball and socket hip joint would be so well lubricated and perhaps the " hip :" actually {the ball of the femur } would perhaps never need to be replaced.

    Amazing animation - but what does this muscle do? I see it helps lift the thigh but does it help the hamstrings pull the knee in or does it help the quads extend the knee? Seems like it’s the latter. To me it seems to be used to make crazy soccer kicks.

    I really thought it was my hamstring tight thats not allowing me to bend and touch my toes, but realized its my sartorius muscle.

    • @AnatomyLab
      @AnatomyLab  4 роки тому +3

      honestly I can’t quite follow your train of thought, but first I think it’s awesome you could benefit from the video and secondly also consider that most of the time it’s not either or, it’s much more a sum of multiple reason why you can’t fully reach your maximum range of motion,..

    Love these vids... I'm struggling with, what I think is, tight adductors and this guy in particular as my right leg is extremely tight during external rotation in a seated position. Thus causing me piriformis syndrome. Could the iliops be tight too?

    • @AnatomyLab
      @AnatomyLab  3 роки тому +4

      If I understand you correctly: your question is why am I not as flexible as the skeleton in my external rotation. Most of the time this is due to the structure of your hip bone and your femur bone. not everybody can perform the same external rotation- its a myth. In other words if you feel a very hard but not painful restriction in your back of your hip when externally rotating mostly it’s the femur hitting the back of your pelvis and stops it from rotating even more. all the stretching in the world can t help bone restriction,..
      Look at Paul grilley work about skeletal variations,.. hope that helps,.. paulgrilley.com/bone-photos/

    • @dabrownone
      @dabrownone 3 роки тому +1

      @@AnatomyLab I don't see why his self-admitted tightness in his leg muscles would have you immediately jump to a bone restriction, especially as bone restrictions can occur when the pelvis is incorrectly aligned to the head of the femur, a very common occurrence for ppl with a pelvic tilt while seated. I hate this jumping to bone restrictions when there are so many things going one in seated postures, especially in the hip/pelvis

    • @AnatomyLab
      @AnatomyLab  3 роки тому +2

      @@dabrownone thank you for your passionate comment, maybe you can also contribute something helpful to the question that was being asked,.. what is your approach with this?

      If I'm correct, then your video is misleading.

    • @AnatomyLab
      @AnatomyLab  2 роки тому +1

      @@gatoryak7332 you are right my video is misleading, it’s one of my first videos and I tried to show - as it states - in the video, Sartorius in motion and not it’s function,.. because a lot of people didn’t get this I changed my approach in later videos to just showing Eiter path, origin, Insertion or function. I ll eventually will revisit these videos and update them as well. So thank you for you input, I will mind it when I update this video. I m really grateful for this kind of feedback.
