      I’m sure loving mine and I have some $9000 electric mountain bikes that I don’t even ride anymore.

    I'm looking for an e-bike to use as a flat bar non-technical gravel bike. Long time roadie, but i think I've aged out on drop bars. The Ramblas and Trek Powerfly seem to be my best options (running 40+ mm gravel tires). I want the suspension fork for gravel downhills. Thoughts?

      The Ramblas would be an awesome bike for gravel adventures. I would run somewhere between 45c to 50c tires though, due to the rim width. Other than that we use ours for all kinds of gravel adventures!

    The new Aventon mid-motor, is very characteristic of the Oli Edge. Different looking, but very similar in performance.

      It’s actually closer to the Shimano EP8. Similar nylon gears inside, 90nm of torque and same bolt pattern as Shimano and Bosch.
      The Aventon a100 motor is still different inside with more machined metal parts and 100nm of torque. It also can sustain 750 watts of peak power output. 👍🏻

    I live in California where there is lots of rocks and techy sections on the trails. I am also used to riding nice full suspension bikes but am looking at the aventon ramblas, if I replaced to fork for a high end rockshox zeb and the tiers for tubeless would you say it’s capable and almost as comfy as a full suspension? Please help 🙏 thanks

      The Ramblas is very capable in the right hands, but no hard-tail MTB will be as soft as a full-suspension bike. You’re not asking a fair question. To put things in perspective, I ride my Ramblas many places that my friends with full-suspension bikes won’t ride. So the real questions always go back to, “what are you going to do with it?” if you need full suspension, then buy one.

      @@SequimBike So if I were to ride chunk and black or blude trails would it handle well or would I need to buy a full sus for +$1k, can this run any dh trails?

      @@hudsonisbetter Again, I don't know your level of fitness and skill, so nobody can answer that for you. This bike is more than capable in the hands of someone who can handle that kind of terrain. I've been riding bikes long before suspension was invented on bicycles, and we rode everything then. Does suspension make things easier? Yes, but the skill of the rider is still the deciding factor. Please don't ask me what you are capable of doing, because I've never ridden with you. Thanks and happy riding!

    What assist level did you use on the climb?

    • @SequimBike
      @SequimBike  2 місяці тому

      For the bottom 5 miles I used Turbo. Once passed the Ranger Gate I used Trail mode until the tunnels. (I just like to get through those as fast as possible because of cars) then back to trail until I neared the last 4 miles. I looked at my range left over and saw that I had plenty of range, so I went back to Turbo! All in all, never used eco and spent almost half in Trail and half in Turbo!

      I keep wavering between a hardball and suspension. At 64 (avid road biker) I would like to do some off road and fire road. I don't think I'll do the really rough stuff, what would you consider as a max trail for this bike. I would have done that climb on my road bike.

      @@thomashenkler4969 it sounds like the full-sus bike would be the wrong choice for you, especially if you like to ride roads and fire roads. Lots of extra expense and weight for no reason. I personally have ridden my Ramblas on motorcycle hard-enduro trails. (Most will never be that extreme) I can guarantee that this bike is more capable than both of us.

      @@SequimBike awesome, thanks for the feedback. I do like the Ramblus and that it is Class 1 makes it way more acceptable to venues. I don't want a throttle and really, do I need to go faster than 20 mph in the woods? I'll save the speed rush for paved roads.

  • @UN1FIEDS0UNDS

    thats a killer view. almost surreal. ive been looking at this bike and others. i cant decide what the heck i want. throttle or not. full sus or not. etc. - - does your motor shake around at all or to a point that annoys you? would you recommend a stronger tire? thanks!

    • @SequimBike
      @SequimBike  2 місяці тому

      You have a lot of decisions, but you need to decide whether you want a mid Drive (class 1) or you want a hub drive (class 2). If you’re going to be doing a lot of steep hills, I suggest a mid drive because they’re a lot stronger and utilize the gears for an advantage. And then the question about full.-sus or hard tail… that all depends on what kind of terrain you’re gonna ride on. To answer your question about motor shake, I have never felt any newer, modern mid drive bicycle that has any kind of motor shake, so I really don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m sure there’s lots of cheap Internet imports that can have motor shake, but nothing of this quality. This bike was bicycling magazines mountain bike of the year for 2024. Last question about the tires, you can’t buy a better mountain bike tire than Maxxis tires.
