In this video, I show you what the new limited edition Aurora Aventon Ramblas looks like up close. I also cover the differences between the limited edition and the Borialis model. Want to see what upgrades I am doing to my stock Ramblas.

Our small town bike shop is an Aventon dealer. Bought the Aventure 2 and he puts all the bikes together with a full shop, and he just got these in. I`am going down and check them out soon. Beautiful bike!
Beware! You will fall in love!
I got the Aurora Ramblas. It looks pretty slick. Also had my bike shop order and install the Delta bike rack. So nice that my e-MTB can serve double duty (commuter and single-track). Now, I just need to find a place to ride it (e-bikes aren't allowed on single track in my area - boo!).
That sucks about the single tracks not allowing class 1 ebikes. Besides that, I hope you enjoy your Ramblas!
@@scotthardesty Yeah, what's surprising is that I'm in Colorado - so you would assume they would be more up on this. Oh well.
Cubes aurora purple full sus stereo is amazing changes greeny in darker light
This one looks amazing in the sun. The purple and black are metallic.
Maybe do a review/comparison on the new shock? As a big guy I'm really interested how this bike would take shock upgrade to air maybe? Add some adjust ability to the shock.
I just upgraded the shock on my Borialis Ramblas. Video coming soon showing all the upgrades.
@@scotthardesty not to pile on but another idea for a further video in the future....Fattest winter snow tire possible.
Been waiting on this one!
Glad to help!
I wonder what these would be like if they had a 750 watt mid-drive motor and pedal assist with a throttle??
Dangerous.
Great review, I just ordered mine! where did you get that little front fender?
Amazon. Here you go. amzn.to/4aL8frd
What do you like better, the green or the purple? I've seen the green in person and it's nice but the purple really seems to pop.
I am in love with the purple.
I have a Aventure 2. In a bigger guy(300lbs)hopeful getting smaller lol. I really like the look and ability of the Ramblas but not sure because I’m bigger. So far mainly riding street and paved bike trails with little dirt. Hoping to get into some mountains, fire roads, and double track stuff. What would you recommend. I’m not in love with spending more cash but interested in you or anyone else’s opinion.
For what you are thinking of, I would suggest the Velotric Summit 1. It has has a weight capacity of 440lbs. I will have a comparison video between the two coming out next week.
@@scotthardesty thank you!
Scott, thank you for another excellent video. The only thing preventing me from adding a Ramblas to the stable is commentary I have seen on the front fork. I see Fox makes a ton of forks, can you give us specifics (part or model number) of the fork you ordered? Also, any update on the clicking noise in the new motor?
Here is the fork I am putting on the Ramblas. www.backcountry.com/fox-racing-shox-34-float-29-fit4-factory-boost-fork
I saw a video that specifically talks about the noise that the motor makes so you might want to look for that. When I asked Aventon, this was the answer I received. It’s my understanding it’s the freewheel on the crankset similar to shimano’s rattle it’s not a safety issue. Nothing is broken. It’s just noticeable.
Wow looks like an excellent fork upgrade.
Why did you upgrade the dropper lever?
Another great video.
@@scotthines5834 No matter how many times I adjusted the lever, it was always so stiff.
@@scotthines5834 It's more of an experiment actually. This dropper post doesn't work as good as the one I have on my Giant Trance X E+3. Although it shouldn't considering my Giant costs twice as much.
Which fork upgrade? Tubeless yet? My Aurora comes Thursday. What Psi were you running (tubed) on your other Ramblas videos? (Trail and commuter) Are you happy with the brake pads? I had to change them right from the start on my Pace500.3.
Now that I have done this video, the green Ramblas goes in for upgrades. I am putting a Fox 34 Fork on it with a Fox dropper seat post. We are going to attempt to go tubeless to see if that is possible. I have not had any issues with my brakes on the original one but the Aurora is going in to get them adjusted. I think my front rotor is slightly bent (nothing serious). I add FlatOut to my tires and ran them at 35 on the trails and 50 for commuter riding.
Excellent. Fox 34 ok. 130mm travel still?
@@richardwebb3013 I believe I went 140. It's already at the bike shop waiting to get installed so I can't check. www.backcountry.com/fox-racing-shox-34-float-29-fit4-factory-boost-fork
Ok. You went with the 51mm offset.
@@richardwebb3013 I checked with Aventon, they said it would work. You might want to wait a week for me get mine installed before you purchase.
Any way to unlock this bike for faster speeds when you do ride on roads?
Unfortunately, No.
Hello, I’m new to ebike and I also noticed you review the velotric ebike as well- which is a better bike overall interm of value and performance? I would use the bike mainly for mountain biking- thanks
If I was to use a bike mainly for mountain biking, I would pick the Ramblas over the Summit 1. The mid drive on the Ramblas is great for climbing and the quality parts on the Ramblas over the Summit. If I did not have the budget for the Ramblas, then the Summit would be my choice.
How do you remove rear wheel?
It removes like a any normal bicycle. I am sure there is a video on youtube that will show you.
@@scotthardesty They are very tight. Felt like I might strip out the hex bolt.
Is that the same Ramblas that you submerged in Lake Michigan ? No problems yet after that ?
The green one is the same bike. I have not had issues so far.
Does Aventon have fenders to add on it aftermarket?
Also, do you know where the Aventons are assembled. There is no Made in "---" label on my Aventure2 anywhere, so I'm curious where it's made.
(I've read in places that say California, Canada, and China .... but I think they have a factory in China that makes parts, but does not assemble bikes.
Very surprised there is nothing on the bike saying where it's made, even if some components are imported.)
I saw someone further down below complain the price of this bike is too high, but if he doesn't know it has US labor in it, if that is the case, he isn't comparing apples-to-apples.
lol, you're swapping tires? ..... I'd love to have tires like that on my Aventure2 someday, with the white letters. I'm not a fan of the blackwall appearance I've got.
The Ramblas currently does not have fenders for it. I use small mtb fenders sine it is more of a mountain bike. Aventon has a factory in China. To my understanding, they design the bikes in California but the factory builds and assembles them.
You can always purchase different tires for your Aventure 2.
@@scotthardesty yes on the tires, but I need to wear out the originals before I'd buy replacements. What you had there would be perfect when that day comes, if they are made in my wheel size.
Looking now at an Aventon website that says they ship parts from China to California to be inspected and assembled onto bikes. The China factory is owned by Aventon, not owned by any Chinese company, and Aventon runs that factory in-house. It also says they will have a new automated factory in California in 2025. Doesn't say if it replaces the current factory/warehouse facility they already have in California, or the one in China for that matter.
All that my browser found a few days ago were outside reviewer webpages, that implied China and Canada were production sites without giving much detail.
Still seems strange Aventon puts nothing on the bike saying where it's made.
@@rayrussell6258 On the tires. I spend 1.5 days riding 4 different MTB trails with my son. He was on the Ramblas and for the trails we hit, it seems the tread on the tires needed to be more aggressive. So we are going to give those a try.
Have you considered doing any long gravel rides with it, like the Great Divide only not that long. Love to see it put to the test, I want one so bad.
I have not. I saw where another reviewer did a distance test in ECO and got over 100 miles on this thing. I don't want to be on any bike for 100 miles. hahaha
@@scotthardesty no, I would mix in an overnight beer stop along the way
hahahaha. Makes sense.
I have a ramblas and just done 70miles in one day. Mainly eco and trail, only turbo for steeps hills. Got down to 6%
I'm taking mine on the Arkansas Graveler the last week of June for 40 to 70 miles each day. I'll let u know how that goes.
Ramblas vs Summit video!
I know, I know... hahaha I really want to, but the past month has been mostly rain here in Chicago and I have new bikes that I need to do full reviews on that behind on schedule. But I really want to get it done, I just need Mother Nature to chill out.
Thats the shocks that need to be on the Velotric Rock shox 35 atleast on these types of ebike's! Anything with a preload just walk away!
I am putting Fox 34 Float on my Ramblas.
@@scotthardesty I ended up with a new 150 mm travel Aion 36 fork from SRSuntour because of a warranty issue.
I think it retails in the $350 to $400 range. Works great on the Summit 1. Makes a huge difference.
@@scotthines5834 Right on man!
Aventon Ramblas: tinyurl.com/4bx7wrdn
Looks beautiful, Scott, but it's way overpriced
It is beautiful, and I have to disagree. I am curious. What price do you think it should be?
@@scotthardesty For one, they've kind of missed the boat making this a hard tail instead of a soft tail... Beautiful, simplistic form and bike. But the battery power and Nm could be much higher for the price
Although a beautiful mountain bike If that's all you use it for.. you can get much more for under $2000 which prices them out of the market which has evolved to that price point.
Two or three years ago, this may have been a good deal, but the ebike market has evolved quickly In just a few years, and companies that can't keep up will lose. market share.. Big mistake not having dual suspension. and no a suspension seat is not the same... I will be waiting to see you ride the trails with this bike and see what you think after you ride it on rough terrain.
@@Mojo-Risin-Risin I have ridden this bike (the green one) many times on hard terrain. Yes, it is not as nice as my $6k softfail but I have to say that this hard tail climbs harder than my 6k bike. I made a video called "Play Date" where I had both the Ramblas and my Giant and I let a buddy of mine who has been riding mtb for 30 years give it shot. He was impressed and still talks it up to people. I appreciate the input for sure, although, I don't know any full suspension bike with a mid-drive motor with 100 Nm of torque that is under 2k.
@@scotthardesty Can't speak to the mid drive because I've never ridden on one. but Omitting the.rear suspension is a Dealbreaker,...imo..
@@Mojo-Risin-Risin I understand. It's not for everyone.
Big ole chewski in there
No clue what that means. hahaha
it is overpriced i think it should cost about 1800!! it is a hardtail
I agree to disagree. The Velotric Summit 1 is $1800 and I doesn't have as good components.
If you purchase the Summit 1, as I did upgrade the fork asap.
It'll make a huge difference.
I also installed a dropper post. The hub motor on the Summit 1 has a surprising amount of torque. The big bonus is a throttle.
@@scotthines5834 I have also purchased a new fork for my Summit. Once I do my comparison video between the Ramblas and Summit, I will then do the upgrades.
@@scotthines5834 I don't want to install a dropper post as the Summit 1 has become the bike I ride around in the city and the Ramblas (and my Giant) are the ones I take on the trails. I didn't want to lose the taillight by installing the dropper post.
The bike is fairly priced for what you get, when you compare to Trek or the others. I do agree Aventon should consider making a lower end model for those that don't want the nicer components. But, that motor is amazing and worth the price for just that thing - just wish it was a tad quieter. We all want cheap but high quality bikes - with the recent tariffs, probably not going to happen until manufacture is moved back to NA - which will take years - if not longer.
