I like that they didn't pair the gauge cluster appearance to each drive mode. I've seen a ton of cars, that also cost way more, not allow you to pick the look. At least seemingly based on videos I've seen, I haven't tinkered with most them myself.
Great review of the new Golf GTI. When I started to drive my first car was a Volkswagen Golf then I have own several Golf GTI. I love Italian cars and especially Alfa Romeo, but I want to buy another Golf GTI in the future.
They get great reviews for value (especially in Canada) and driving dynamics, but the touchscreen and lack of buttons, knobs and switches makes it a no-go for me. I've owned 50 cars over my lifetime, but never a VW. I'd consider a Golf R, it's high on my list, but not with the idiotic infotainment/HVAC system. Two steps forward, one step back. Why are manufacturers trying to reinvent the wheel?
Garbage car. Had the same model and colour 2023. I’ve never known any car have such a bad build quality or being poorly designed. Climate control that’s taptic and doesn’t illuminate. The entertainment system is completely useless and things are hidden deep in menus. Same crappy buttons on the steering wheel that randomly do what they please. Cheap plastics all over the cabin. Faults on the heated seats steering wheel, gearbox, brakes and hatch and rear wiper. Recall for fire risk in engine bay and a headlight that wasn’t fitted correctly from the factory but dealer tried to claim it was accident damage. Car was eventually replaced and was even worse than the original car I can’t say a single positive thing about this car. Do not buy one. Buy anything but this crap.

Great car for sure but you don't talk about how the interior quality has been cheapened and questionable design that includes piano black plastic.
I don't like the interior. Piano black everywhere. screen size like in smartphones in 2012. Volkswagen didn't make an effort

GTI went down hill after Mk5. It redeemed itself in Mk7.5. Now it went bad again.
