    i watched every 2024 gti video on YT, still bought it because its the last year of manual. the infotainment is as easy as using your phone, nowhere near as complicated as any reviewers have complained about. the haptic steering wheel has been replaced with a wheel with buttons (the infotainment menu is a bit complicated at first but after 10 mins easy to navigate). the ride is incredibly smooth in eco mode and still forgiving while being very rigid in sport or custom (you can tune it past sport for more stiffness in the ride mode menu) the audio isnt complete garbage, but the bass gets a little distorted at very loud levels. theres a decent amount of wheel hop if you are really laying on the gas in early gears. torque steer is prevalent at high rpm accelerating out of corners, FAFO. having upgraded from a 2011 jetta 5spd this car is everything I wanted from a small car with enough juice to put a smile on your face. the exhaust pops sound nice and the turbo kicks in somewhere around 3k rpm. almost all the driver assistance options can be turned off. you can be civilized or a menace if you want with this car. If you want to drive fast maybe look into upgrading the brakes. seats are very comfy

    I'm glad you touched on the cabin noise. Another reviewer in Ireland mentioned it. This vehicle seems to check all the boxes for me but the cabin noise is a deal breaker. I have a long commute and sometimes I just want quiet. Is the cabin noise that bad? Also how does cabin noise compare with the previous gen Golf?

    I have driven the new one today at a dealership. It was just as I expected, feels nearly identical to the MK8. They let me try a launch control, it's a tiny bit quicker but you'd hardly notice if you didn't know. Same top speed, still limited to 250km/h. It's absolutely not worth upgrading for those who have the MK8, but it's a bit cheaper so it might attract some MK7 owners.

      Weird comment, if we're talking stateside the only material difference on '24 GTI's is the power folding mirrors. Otherwise we're just talking shuffling around options packages. The updated infotainment and new screen will be on the '25 model years, but you'll loose the option for a manual.

    We are in the generation where we are getting what we don't want, at a price that is more expensive, and also less convenient/intuitive features.
    gone are the days where the cars come with full size spares, handbrakes, manual transmission, intuitive functional buttons/knobs/switches, and high quality German paint, and also normal size wheels 17-18 inch wheels with reasonable sized sidewalls.

    Toyota is giving us three sports cars with manuals.

    VW is dropping the manual? And why can’t we get a TWO-DOOR GTI???? The four door looks boring.

    • @steve8803
      @steve8803 6 місяців тому +2

      @chuckcribbs3398 you can't get a 2 door because of poor sales, not worth their time. As for dropping the manual, that is a head scratcher as the take rate for the manual GTI is normally around 40% which is substantial, and for 2024 it went up to 50% because people know this is their last chance.
