I will be here Sunday at 2pm Central time (3pm Eastern) to chat with y'all while we watch this movie together! I picked 2pm on a Sunday because I'm hoping most people are off work and that's early enough (8pm GMT) for all of you in the UK to watch along with us, too. Hope to see y'all then!
Wow, you have come so far in your video making from when you first started. I have seen the West Highland in ultra running videos before but this is the first time I saw it from a hiking viewpoint. As a hiker you make me want to do all these trails, I saw the Iceland video and thought that would be cool to do, now I have to go to Scotland also! Had a tear in my eye at the end, loved that you ended the video with showing your baby. I have two kids, now 19 and 21 who are not hikers, also a husband that does not like to hike unfortunately. I don't know if I could motivate them to do a hike like this as a family trip. I think it would be a cool experience and would be similar to what a lot of people do in Europe traveling with a pack on your back and staying at hostiles.
Your documentary was so immersive!💯 I loved how you captured the beauty of Scotland and the challenges of the West Highland Way. Thanks for sharing this experience with us, Dixiie! ❤
I live in Scotland about an hour or two from the WHW but a bit further North. The weather was about spot on this year and your perserverence was very impressive. I have done quite a few walks and trails in Scotland and Northern England and their are two other paths I would recommend in the UK. The Cleveland Way (87 miles) on the North East Coast of England mixes a long section of cliff and sea walking with some inland too. Some stunning scenery and beautiful 'quaint' villages. Also the Coast to Coast path (190 miles) travels right across England with huge scenery changes incuding my personal favourite area in the UK - the Lake District. Both require a long flight from the US though of course. The hospitality and welcome you will find will be second to none. David, Sotland
You did great! I was very active during my pregnancies, ranch work. I finally call it at eight months when riding a horse made me wanna barf… but the babies were VERY healthy and I’m convinced we were meant to be active and getting great blood flow was a positive thing.
You posting your original WHW videos put the idea on my radar so when I was visiting my brother in London convinced him to do it with me and we completed it in August! It was an amazing experience though tough with some of the weather we got. 😂 Thank you for sharing your adventures!
I watched this when it came out in segments but it's much better as a whole. Great video and so cute to see the little 'un (or we'an as we say in Scotland!) at the end.
Well done Dixie! Scotland & your lovely Hubby and now a brand new through hiker is introduced to the world! Thank you for sharing your life. Your videos helped me through the horrors of the Pandemic and some life setbacks. I await a new hip and until then I hike the trails vicariously through you. Thank you for your videos and warm welcomes to Bratcher.
I thoroughly enjoyed your video of the West Highland Way. Despite being Scottish and having lived within easy travelling distance of Milngavie for many years, I haven't even started the walk, never mind completing it. I'm amongst the many people who are amazed you did this whilst pregnant. You were amazing! It's nice to see your lovely baby who'll be fascinated to learn he completed this trek before he was even born. Good luck to all 3 of you on your future family adventures., ❤😊
thank you for sharing the landscape in Scotland, soo beautiful, even without the sun🙂 Congratulations on a lovely, healthy baby boy, hopefully he have caught the walking gene on the West Highland Way, much love 🍀🍀
Bucket list! I just found out I was 35% Scottish, and I am thrilled to see this video and learn more about that gorgeous land. You are so brave and it is wonderful that you got to share it together!!! Job well done!!! Your filming skills are just unmatched, you have captured it so beautifully, and the music you put in is amazing!!! Thank you!!! 2nd edit....lol, Congratulations on such a darling son!!! He is just adorable, and I imagine is dreaming of his first hike with his mama!!!
Boy that was a fantastic movie. Very nice work on putting that together, and for doing the walking! Such a beautiful country Scotland is! Nice to "get to know" Rodney a bit more too....and congrats on the birth of Bratcher! To many more 100's of miles together...
Loved your journey throw ma lovely land and well done completing Ben Nevis also the video was class by the ways 👌🏼 . Congratulations to the both of yous and glad wee guys healthy ❤
A wonderful video of a trail that I know half of (I quit last year at Tyndrum - back this year to complete unfinished business). I felt quite emotional watching your summary of the people on your walk ... then blown away by the awesome clip of your new baby. I'm so so pleased for you both. When I hadn't heard anything about him, I honestly feared the worst. This is wonderful wonderful news. Congratulations!!
Great video and it was beautifully finished! I'm hoping to go as well. Did the Camino this past summer booked thru a company similar to Mac's. Loved it! Thx and Merry Christmas to yall🎄🎅🏻💕
Amazing! I was just looking into this trail and ta-da here you have the perfect video just released to confirm that it's the trail I want to be hitting up next. Thanks for the great video!
CONGRATULATIONS! I really wasn't expecting the ending! But it confirmed my earlier conclusions. (Thanks for including your meetings with the locals.) HAHAHA
I loved this movie. The scenery is stunning, your videography is amazing and I so enjoyed your selection of music. Well done hiking while pregnant and I hope all three of you are keeping well. Happy Christmas from Australia.
Having watched you for a while (boy, that sounds creepy), the best part of the journey is seeing you so happy with someone and seeing that turn into a family. I hope you are enjoying life. Thank you for sharing.
That's it! It's my new preferred video of all yours. My English is not good enough to express what all my thoughts were, looking at this film but....just a lot of feelings and emotions... So happy also to see a pregnant woman doing it, when I was waiting for my last baby in my 30's, I danced (quite as a professional) till the last month or so and people called me crazy, that I would gonna hurt him etc The three of you are adorable 🥰 Love from France
Loved my hike of the WHW! That’s the exact view of Loch Lomand I got from Conic Hill….rain, clouds, misty fog and all! I went back several yrs later in April and ran into snow at the top. (Maybe I’ll get sun in my next lifetime LOL!) Your wonderful trip brought back many fond memories! Thanks for sharing 🐏
Dear Dixie, thank you for sharing this; it is a marvelous holiday gift to your followers! I am keeping you, Ridney, and Bratcher in my prayers, particularly since seeing that that little man is having a tough row to hoe right now. 😥 This is the first I have heard about breastfed babies having such a serious digestive issue, and pray it resolves itself soon. As a mom of two (now adults) I understand the anguish of being unable to soothe one's crying baby, and the sleep deprivation. May the Creator wrap you all in love, and ease this situation for you. Keep looking forward, dear Dixie: you WILL be hiking again, and so will your beautiful little boy. ❤👣💙
Really enjoyed watching this video and you have inspired me even more to do the WHW, going the Great Glen Way in May 2025. Congratulations on the birth of your little boy 🎉
Thank you so much for this. I 've tears rolling down my cheeks but it's good. The baby did it, lol Have a wonderful Christmas, Happy Solstice. Half Moon today. Balance is a lifelong lesson. We're having days of big storms here on Haida Gwaii, reaching over 100kl/h on the 25th. I love your channel so much. Virtual hugs--
Well done guys what a trip I’m very lucky I live only 1hour from the start of the west highland way and Loch Lomond the haggis tasting was funny but there is so many some good and some terrible 🏴👍
I walked all aroung Skye in 1993 and never saw a highland cow until I returned to Glascow, saw one right in the city. Did see a lot of those midges though.
Merry Christmas from 🇦🇺! Thank you for all your fabulous videos and the extraordinary inspiration that they give all your viewers! Visiting the States with my daughter next year for the first time in 10 years. Plan to get on the Appalachian Trail albeit for just for one day! (Is there a better song than Wild Mountain Thyme - I don’t think so)? Fantastic!
Just watched and want to say congratulations. I've been watching you for years now and have always been meaning to ask you this. Have you been in the Adirondacks yet? I grew up there and started hiking and back packing there in the 60's and still with my grand kids today. AKA Boots
Dixie, just wow amazing. After doing our ancestry DNA my husband and myself are about 25% Scottish and our 4 children are 50% Scottish. I would love to do this trip. What was the round about cost?

Your documentary was so immersive!💯 I loved how you captured the beauty of Scotland and the challenges of the West Highland Way. Thanks for sharing this experience with us, Dixiie! ❤
Thanks for sharing your West Highland. It brought back great memories of my West Highland hike in 23. The food, people and the sights.
Great documentary. You've inspired me to do the West Highland Way next summer.

This demonstrates some fine cinematography, WELL DONE, DIXIE. So pleased to see new trees planted, thriving.

I just watched this beautiful movie you made on Christmas day. I'm alone and your movie filled me with joy. Thank you . I needed that
The Loch Lomond instrumental was perfect. Thank you again. I am looking ono a may West Highland hike because of you. Thanks!
Again a very apt choice of music with Mendelssohn's "Scottish Symphony" - great!
I watched this when it came out in segments but it's much better as a whole. Great video and so cute to see the little 'un (or we'an as we say in Scotland!) at the end.

Hope you enjoyed you're Scottish adventure ! It always produces some magical moments in its nature.
Rather than wild Haggis trying to spot a Scottish Wild cat would have been more of a special moment. “And they are real”
Great video! Congratulations to you both. I am walking the WHW in late August and Ben Nevis thereafter. That video next! 1:22:38
Great video! Loved the unexpected but sweet ending.
Congratulations, fantastic video. Wundebar!

Just started watching this. You might want to do some research into the Highland Clearance's. Loving all the videos so far.
Way better than anything at the movies right now! Enjoy that little guy.
Having watched you for a while (boy, that sounds creepy), the best part of the journey is seeing you so happy with someone and seeing that turn into a family. I hope you are enjoying life. Thank you for sharing.
To the most magical MOM, Merry Xmas to you all..........

I would give it two thumbs up if I could. Such a special time and a beautiful country.!
"Make sure you're enjoying yourselves, if you don't, just get a bus and cheat!"😂
Merry Christmas, beautiful baby boy ❤
I’m watching you come down the lovely steps on Conic Hill wishing they were there when I did it a few years ago, the path down was horrendous.
Dear Dixie, thank you for sharing this; it is a marvelous holiday gift to your followers!

I wish there was a "loved" button for this! Congratulations on your little one! ❤
Well done guys what a trip I’m very lucky I live only 1hour from the start of the west highland way and Loch Lomond the haggis tasting was funny but there is so many some good and some terrible 🏴👍
Some top notch cinematography there! Two quick questions: 1) how crowded was the trail most days? 2) how many pairs of shoes did you bring?
I walked all aroung Skye in 1993 and never saw a highland cow until I returned to Glascow, saw one right in the city. Did see a lot of those midges though.
Ohh, awesome ending to this video. Such a cutie baby. Congratulations!!
He took the high road and you took the slow road!
By the way, I think you found a WINNER in Rodney. But maybe it's the editing. HAHAHA (I couldn't resist. HAHAHA)
At six months pregnant, we are proud of you.
Fantastic!
Will you please do a trail on Vancouver Island 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
My partner and I were there about a week before you and those ducklings hustled us too!
I'm sipping on a scotch coffee with my wife while I watch to appropriately set the mood
Dixie great video! Can I make a request? Knowing what you now know about gear, can you make a video about what you would take on the Camino Francais?
“Well, that was dumb as hell.” LOL! If I had a nickel for every time I’ve said that … 😂
Just watched and want to say congratulations. I've been watching you for years now and have always been meaning to ask you this. Have you been in the Adirondacks yet? I grew up there and started hiking and back packing there in the 60's and still with my grand kids today. AKA Boots
💜
We plan on doing this in May! What time was breakfast usually served at the B&B's? When did you hit the trail each day?
Congratulations He is a cutie enjoyed Scotland very beautiful
He received an ear wave, that critter was probably an introvert. I thought it was cool.
My daughter is amazing at finding 4and6 leaf clover.
❤
The Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond
Dixie, just wow amazing. After doing our ancestry DNA my husband and myself are about 25% Scottish and our 4 children are 50% Scottish. I would love to do this trip. What was the round about cost?
🎉
My mom could always find 4 leaf clovers. I am almost 61 and still have never found one.
I hate you for playing that song at 1:08:45😂
