@@Tetristactical it's pretty true to size. I know the Helmet Center here in AZ has the Icon AF jackets on display. If you are close to it ..would try some on.
This jacket isn't the most protective jacket you can get... obviously it's lightweight and mesh. That being said at speed it feels like you're wearing a t-shirt it's so breathable. Some days are too hot to want to wear gear. Instead of being a squid this jacket is great option to have some protection and not get overheated.
I like Icon stuff, despite the hard armour falling off both shoulders of my Contra Mk1 without crashing. I am interested in the Icon Hooligan Demo jacket.
The first version of the Icon Contra Jacket did not have any external shoulder armor that I recall. That was one of the longest running moto jackets I can remember. Not sure there was any other jacket that remained in a catalog as long. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear It was the TPU things on the side of each sleeve at the top which both cracked, then came loose. Otherwise, I'd still be wearing the jacket.
Two misses with this jacket for me . 1) Why white which is next to impossible to keep fresh and clean with bugs and road grime. 2) why Velcro and why Velcro applied in the wrong direction of a slide? Maybe minor nitpicking but why not think through the details for a best engineering effort?
White reflects the sun better than black. Yes it's hard to keep clean but they also make this jacket in all black if that's your kink. Velcro is cheap, this jacket is super budget friendly. This isn't a do it all ultra premium jacket, just a two to three month summer jacket when your balls melt into your seat in stand still traffic. Looks are subjective but this jacket is a solid choice 🤙
B Van - when you talked about this jacket having no internal liner you said: “When I saw that, I was concerned how was this thing gonna feel when I slip it on, is it gonna feel all scratchy and uncomfortable? The reality is it doesn’t, it feels really good.” BULLSHIT. I just bought this jacket and YES IT IS SCRATCHY, sandpaper scratchy. If you are riding in the heat wearing this jacket the scratchy feeling will make bearing the heat even worse, so YES the jacket will be very uncomfortable and maybe even unbearable to wear. You said you've never seen a jacket without a liner before (and neither have I) and this is why. It makes sense that with no liner and with the quality and durability of the "steel mesh" that this jacket has (which is a good thing) that it will be scratchy against the skin and it is. With that said, that was the bad news - the good news is that everything else you said in the video is SPOT ON and the solution to the scratchy feeling is to wear a long sleeve shirt made of lightweight, moisture wicking material, which will still keep you cool and will make the jacket comfortable to wear, perfectly comfortable in fact. When you do that, then and only then will the reality be that "it feels really good." Try it for yourself, you'll feel the difference...
@@sportbiketrackgear And why would they do that B? Icon absolutely nailed it with this jacket, I think it’s a brilliant idea and other manufacturers should follow suit but it is scratchy and I’m 100% sure our friends at Icon know that. I pointed the problem out and offered a solution which wasn’t “go back to putting a liner in the damn coat” so put on your LeVar Burton Reading Rainbow cap and read my comment again. You know how in some of your leather jacket videos you tell people they might want to wear an appropriate base layer if they ride in that particular jacket when it’s cold? Well the same concept applies here - I think with this design Icon realized that they can eliminate the internal liner and you can wear an appropriate base layer (which is simply a long sleeve shirt) to deal with the coarse feel of the jacket if need be. Yes, the protective mesh is coarse (it has to be) and feels coarse against the skin, if it felt Charmin soft would you trust it in a slide on the asphalt? The elbow armor also digs into your elbow, but all of this goes away if you wear a long sleeve shirt - preferably one made of lightweight moisture-wicking material. Doing this makes your shirt the comfort liner and thus eliminates the need for an internal one. So, did you even do as I suggested and wear the jacket with a long sleeve shirt on or are you too stubborn to even try it? Also, another brilliant design feature you totally missed has to do with the pockets - while you raved about the size of the pockets (and zipper colors) you failed to see why they’re that size and what is truly going on there. If you paid close attention to the design (which is your job) then you would see that the pockets are serving as an extra layer of protection in a crash/slide zone (when you slide face down you slide on your stomach and midsection, not your chest), the size of the pockets and the way they’re stitched in as a permanent part of the jacket (and not a separate floating piece like normal pockets) tells you that. Try and turn the pockets inside out like you would normal pockets (you can’t) and you’ll see what I mean - I don’t think they necessarily gave a shit about the size of your hands when they came up with this design, but it’s a welcomed side effect.

He is old school cool. Been watching him since 09
Still have my Icon AF jacket and I wear it in AZ 100+ degrees. Enough to keep the sun off the arms and cool enough to feel like a T-shirt.

How’s sizing ? True or side up?

I'm amazed Icon managed a EN17092 Class AA on this super bare bones jacket. My heavier Spidi mesh jacket is only a Class A

What's the mayor difference between this model vs hooligan ce?
As far as I know they are basically the same jacket with only minor (if any) differences for CE. - Van
Hi, What’s your chest measurement? In terms of height and waist we’re not that far off. Torn between an M or L.
44" chest
Looking for 3xl seems like no one has in stock
What’s better in terms of abrasion resistance? This or the Dainese Bora Air?
