Love this video brother. This was done brilliantly. Loved hearing about your past and the photos were a special touch. Feel like I got to know you better. Your dad seemed like a special guy. I’m sorry you lost him even though I know you stated to me he went peacefully. Love hearing your top 10 records and why they are so special to you. The first time that I ever heard the song Bookends was in an episode of The Wonder Years and it always hits home (especially at almost 55 years old).
    Time it was
And what a time it was
It was a time of innocence
    A time of confidences

Thank you for sharing your favorites. Can’t wait to find the David Crosby & Johnny Rivers LPs, I missed out on those two.
Most important, thank you so much for sharing your memories growing up.
Your Father had the right idea. As an 18y.o., I also transferred my LPs to cassette, mainly to listen in my car. So the vinyl I regretfully sold over the years were usually played only once or twice.

U2 October is a great album. "I Threw a Brick through a Window" should have been a single, it's more powerful than "Fire. "Gloria" was a good choice as a single although it wasn't included on U2's Greatest Hits 1980-1990. No songs were included except for "October" which was thrown at the end as a hidden track attached to "All I Want is You" and wasn't mentioned anywhere.

Oh that's crazy, I didn't know that... "I Threw A Brick Through A Window" is really impactful. Such atmosphere. I do have to admit that I can go either way with "A Day With Me". it was incredible, many of the records they gave away were rare and valuable. I got an album by Geordie the band Brian Johnson sang with before AC/DC. But people would scatter some of the records into the street and someone reported the store to the police and they were cited for littering.@@ConglomerationCat

Nice album choices. No Melanie? I guess you were too young to get into her music. She was at the top of the charts in 1971. If you have any interest in Melanie, Cleopatra records is releasing her album "Stoneground words" on vinyl and CD this month. Just before she died she recorded an album to be released soon. It's the only album she recorded without her producer husband that died 11 years ago. I can't wait to hear it!

Oh I certainly remember Melanie, I had a crush on her back in the day. I loved hearing the story of how she was so nervous to perform at the Isle Of Wight in 1970 that Keith Moon helped her through it by making jokes and making her laugh. A great photo exists of her, Keith and Pete. I was shocked when she passed. Kinda broke my heart. Mainly because you never really heard anything negative about her.

Cool list! My ex-girlfriend loved that Cat Stevens record. I also have a mint condition RL LZ2 record. I paid a fortune for it and it's the loudest record I've ever heard! Worth every penny. My list would be if I had to pick just one of each of my favorite bands. I like mostly hard rock and heavy metal.

Hi Sam, a lot of my fave lps too. 1983, is a fave of mine too off that lp. Loved the sounds and the creative approach. Led Zep 2 we used to play "Thank You" live at gigs . White lp was another, I learned Blackbird off it note for note when I was about 15 by hearing the 3 different note progressions. Fave Beatles lp is Rubber Soul. Love Old Friends off the Bookends lp. I see you have a Who t shirt on... i live right where 3 of them went to school here in the UK and where they played before becoming the Who when they were called the Detours. Also gigged on the same stage in Harrow and Wealdstone where they played as The High Numbers which you can still see 4 songs from the film they did back in 64 . Lovely vid and lovely memories about your father and hugs for your loss.

It's quite astounding how we still reminisce and analyze these gems after so many years as if it were just yesterday. That's so cool you live right in the area that most of The Detours later known as The Who went to school with each other back in the day. Lots of great history. by the time I actually fell in love w/R&R & BLUES, it was the early '70's, and I was an early teen .I remember (BEATLES & HENDRIX are 2 of my faves) thinking, ''why does Sgt.Pepper, for a lot of people, define that period, while this masterpiece, ELECTRIC LADYLAND isn't talked about in such glowing terms?'' today in NE, it's a 'rainy day' again!! but, anyway, Jimi plays in a sophisticated way, but also blazes thru R&R like 'Come on pt.1'.'1983' is one of the masterpieces of this audio trip, w/ space sounds, Atlantis stories, and so forth. this record, even today, isn't given the accolades it highly deserves, which amazes me. I suppose it has to do w/ the fact that Janie Hendrix sees to it that we can only get bootlegs of Jimi on UA-cam .I haven't really searched much lately on YT for more, but it's very obvious my fellow music lovers just don't hear it. not the most radio friendly LP he did. but where ever he is, I'm sure he has no regrets in that area. I, like yourself, am a huge fan of Neil Young, especially his CRAZY HORSE work. saw them outside at nite. I'm sure folks a mile away could hear the sonic power. I went to see his documentary shot at the Grand Ole Opry, a few years back. he mentions matter of factly, to the Ryman auditorium crowd, that "this is Hank's guitar". I was flabbergasted. anyway, you have impeccable taste, my friend. I'm very sorry about your Dad. my Dad hated R&R, but loved SINATRA, and made me a fan for life. lost him suddenly in Jan.2000. on August15th, '99, at (formerly) YASGUR'S FARM, I saw David Crosby play w/ his son on the 30th anniversary of Woodstock. because of what I remember to be an absence of a decent emcee, I left in order to catch a bus back to NYC, then to Boston(as I had no other ride, and rumors abounded that Johnny Winter was either 1)a no show, or 2)wasn't happy unless he closed instead of Crosby, 3)or sick.) turns out, an hour to 90 minutes later JW came out .a guy who lived in my home town told me, later. but I'd seen him 3 times, and I knew he was a shell of his former self. but the historic value of him coming back 30 years later, wasn't something I wanted to miss. live and learn.

A very good list. I'm glad your viewer mentioned the David Crosby anniversary edition. I didn't like the album much when it first came out....but still have my original copy. It's grown over the years. There is a recent SACD that sounds so beautiful. OMG the Johnny Rivers is one of my very favorites. It's a wonderful album of it's time, but still holds up beautifully. Glad you chose that one. He's from Baton Rouge and I am in New Orleans. Got to see him a few years back. He did Summer Rain. Beautiful song.
