@@jasminmujezinovic324 Spot on! We wouldn't be singing the praises of A-A if Fabinho (and Gomez) didn't constantly back him up. A-A is a fabulous winger, but not so good defensively. Robertson is a decent defender.

@@judyclarkson5887 Just rewatched highlights of Liverpool vs. Chelsea. For Chelsea's 2nd goal, Pulisic avoided A-A's tackle with ease. To be honest, he evaded Gomez, and perhaps Fabinho, too. For their 3rd goal, A-A did well to get behind Pulisic, but Pulisic turned and shot past him, again as if he wasn't there.

BVB was more of a direct Counter Attacking Side with Gegen Pressure as a tool to start the counter higher up.
While, Liverpool evolved from "heavy metal" press and counterattack to keep the Ball and get to the end of crosses. However, they still today find some chances from counterattack while Gegen Pressure is still considered to be Klopp Brand of Football.

I've just found your channel, and I'm hugely impressed by what I've seen. A lot of tactic channels might go into depth about specific areas of a team's system, but you make sure you cover the holistic concept and explain how all the pieces work or don't work together. I'll be honest, I've seen "professional" breakdowns from some go-to pundits/channels/websites that never even think of touching this beyond talking about specific partnerships.
A truly brilliant channel that I've fallen in love with!

I believe this is how Klopp adapt to English football which is more physical, so the pressing itself must be maintained at a controlled intensity. Otherwise the vulnerability to injury would be higher than his time in Germany.
For his adaptation offensively, apparently during his first years he learned the unique potentials that this Liverpool team possesed, especially IMO in Trent and Bobby who have the characteristics he never saw at Dortmund which inspired him to create something new. Unlike other players, Mo Salah, Mane, Robertson, etc who could have play easily the typical Dortmund way.

The major difference between two playbooks is ball possession. Dortmund played more reactive football with high frontline press but this caused them to struggle with injuries and lost finals. Liverpool started to play more proactive football especially with 17/18 season. As the offensive pressing got less intense, midline press became more and more intense, due to dynamism of midfielders imo. This transformation made them champions both in UCL and PL. One last thing i would like to mention is the passing speed and quality in last two seasons. This season it worked like a machine in games which Liverpool dominated their opponents. Jurgen Klopp built a team that can play both possession game and a killer-counter-attacking-monster game.

Technically Klopp's Dortmund tatics are very similar to what Pep uses at city... zone 14 to create chances through the half spaces like De Bryune and David Silva do.. with their wingers tucking in to provide threat like Sterling and Sane.. but the striker is heavily involved in the scoring..
And that's why city are struggling this season.. they don't have a David Silva replacement so De Bruyne has to do most of the creative work and so the opponents just mark him out of the game.. and both their strikers are also not providing goals..

Also a big difference of Dortmund and Liverpool are the domestic rivals they face off :
    - Dortmund in Bundesliga have to face off against Schalke 04, Werder Bremen , Leverkusen , and Bayern Munich, in which since it was more physical , his formation have to be like that in order to challenge them and win titles. Furthermore, other teams like RB Leipzig were catching up and on his last season, Dortmund could not deliver what was expected from them.
    - Liverpool in Premier League in order to be in the Top 4, they have to beat the "Top 6" United , City , Chelsea , Tottenham , Arsenal, and even Leicester City is on the run. Premier League as always is consider as "back and fourth" where the game is more fluid , and defending players play a more aggressive role. Van Dijk , Arnold and Robertson contribute not just on defending positions, but also on the offensive.

When Klopp 1st came to Liverpool i think the low block from 85% of the teams took him by surprise. That's why he loves to go wide and get the crosses in from both fullbacks(very hard to defend against). Also leaving just 2 back plus the CDM leaves a carrot for the other team to try and counter Liverpool, if this carrot wasn't there they would camp 11 men behind the ball ALL game. That's our weakness, but that what Klopp want's you to think, to drag you away from the 18 yard line, perfect.

Liverpool isn't injury resistant. We have had many injury issues thankfully not to salah & mane. But the fact that there are more teams in epl who can get through the frantic press & play long balls making our defence vulnerable as was evident during klopp's initial years in Liverpool we had to evolve into a more effective yet safer way of pressing. Dortmund was the blitzkrieg form of gegenpressing but Liverpool is more like heavy metal jazz.

    You missed something important.
LFC has many differences build up when they start to attack the opponents.
    1. When Henderson & Wijnaldum play together, the team started their attack from Fullback.
    2. When Keita & Wijnaldum play together, the team started their attack from midfielders.
    3. When Keita & Ox play together, the team started their attack with more dynamic movement (Full back & Midfielders)
    4. When Ox & Wijnaldum play together, the team started their attack from midfielders.
    5. When Henderson & Keita play together, the team started their attack from midfielders.
    6. But when Milner play, every ball will go to Milner, he will construct the attack.

Likely scenario: Thiago will take maybe 6-10 games to get adjusted to the Prem and all of Klopp's tactics and then will immediately take Wijnaldum's spot in the starting XI.
I love Gini, but I think Thiago, even injury-prone and at age 29, is genuinely a world class midfielder. Can't name 10 in the world better than him tbh. So Liverpool's starting midfield 3 will be Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago and their back up 3/substitutes will be Keita, Ox, Gini. Curtis Jones will probably go out on loan and Milner will do a Lallana and play whenever Klopp feels like it. Not much will change tactically, Klopp loves his 4-3-3 (his wide wingers, his false 9 and bombing full-backs) and Thiago will just provide more cover for Fab and Hendo and more creativity if teams sit deep in blocks of 4. Sorry Gini lol

You forgot to mention that when Jurgen was at Dortmund he didnot care about defence at all. The most characteristic example was the final against Bayern where he was in front and he kept having his centerbacks very high. Hummels is one of the most slow and overrated defenders. As a result he lost the champions league.
secondly. Now he has some box-to box style players in the middle. What i want to say is that The are good at supporting attack but more importantly at marking effectively.
Tecnique with defense is on: Wilnadum, Milner(even if he is not young anymore) Fabinho, Keita(the best box he has)and the worker Henderson even is his dribbling is for laughing. At dortmund he had only Gudokun to have stamina to run and good at marking.Bender was not at wilnardum level. Nuri Sahin was something but was lazy. Also At attack he had Ruis as main dribller and Getze. Blazikofski was not so good. Looked more lilke Right Back rather that Righ Midfielder.
Also Ruis And Getze Didnot have the stamina to run for pressing and run with the ball as MANE And Salah do.
In conclusion . Main Deferences are.... HIgh defensive line with slow defenders. 2 Much more hard working players both on mid and attack. 3 Many mid for not having injuries 4 NO Keita at Dortmund.
BY the way PERFECT BOX TO BOX WERE-ARE : SEEDORF GERRARD, Now KEITA KANTE (best mid in world righ now)

Thats how they got smashed by City in the 4-0.. it's interest to notice that making a defence pressure marking can force adversary erros, it also creates a lot of space behind the center backs line, with can be used by nice long passes and fast players.
