If I'm picking between the $78 100% cotton USA made Vermont flannel and the $70 Troll co poly blend made in China, the Pladra $139 made in Nicaragua flannel, or the Naked and famous $256 made in Canada I'm going to have to try hard not to pull a muscle throwing my money at Vermont Flannel. The Freenote looks amazing but $280 is beyond my shirt budget. I'd buy the Devium as my budget's version of high end.
I can't wait till I get down to an XL so I can start my collection over again!! I'm not buying anymore till I'm down another size! So far I've gone from a 5xl to a 2xl!! Been expensive to change clothes, but so worth my health!! ♥️
For 45 years, I swore by LL Bean flannel or Chamois shirts. Carhartt is now my go-to for them. Thanks for the video; I will check out the new ones you have reviewed,
Legendary Whitetails made the list!!! If that western design isn't your style go with the "Buck Camp" shirt classic flannel design except it has buttons instead of snaps. Been an advocate of this brand for year. There "Tough as buck" and "Flannel lined waxed trucker jacket" also punch above their price point.
I was gonna comment the same thing! I got my buck camp flannel in black in Amazon for like $25 4 years ago. Still has the tan corduroy pieces which I think is just 👌 I wore it yesterday lol
@@jsanc316i have the wax trucker jacket. It is comfortable but my issue is. Isnt really that waxy. Unless i got a dud. The jacket seems like a light jacket but it looks amazing. I would say no lower than 50° with long sleeve shirt
Buck camp and tough as buck are both really great. I also have of their heavyweight flannels with the waxed cotton elbowpads. At 35 / 50 bucks they feel like a steal
Hey Carl. This is my second comment. I wanted to thank you for these awesome videos. For one thing, you've introduced me to brands I didn't know existed. Second, I now know what to look for. Every time I see a Flannel shirt, I'm scrutinizing like a connoisseur. I've always loved Flannel, but in my neck of the woods there's very little to choose from. Most of what's available is the bottom of the barrel. With your help, a whole new world has been opened up. I shared this video with a friend and he's going to order one from this list. So thanks again for your hard work. Not only do you have great content, but your presentation is unmatched.
I have bought a Pladra because of your channel. A great shirt. I buy one a year now. The orange and black is great and I have not seen any other brand with these colors
Flannel rules! Glad to see you included Vermont Flannel Company. I have had the exact same one you have for a couple years and it's been my favourite flannel!
I just can’t imagine dropping 3 hundo on a flannel shirt?! That shirt would hang in the closet, and barely get worn like yours lol. Legendary Whitetails is plenty good, comes in several styles and colors, and were BOGO around Christmas. TWO decent flannels for about 10% of one of those silly ones. 🤷🏻
I don't know when I got my Vermont Flannel, but I LOVEEEE this thing. The buttons look exactly the same, I always get compliments on it. Glad to know it's made in USA :) I assumed it was a flannel from a Vermont Catalogue, but I can see now its a completely separate company entirely. Ty for uploading man!! Def recommend getting the flannel to anyone on the fence, I love it so much I hemmed the sleeves
Flannel Rules! And my favorite flannel right now is Big Bill workwear. Pretty sure most are made in Canada. Very generous fit but nice weight and warmth. Very comfortable!
Flannel Rules, and hell yes it does. I re-arranged my shirts and found that more than half of them are flannels. Props to the random Sam's club Anchorage Expedition burley flannels, they've held up pretty well over the past 4 years and a couple no name Kohl's shirts from when I was a kid. My tops have to be the light and heavyweights from Carhartt though, just can't go wrong with them
Carl, I'm so glad you finally got around to picking up a Devium piece and reviewing it for us! I discovered them early last year and I've been in love with them ever since. I have one of their Alder shirts, two of the Boca, a matching pair of sweatpants and hoodie, a short sleeved Henley, and their incredible waxed cotton sherpa-lined vest. I have nothing but good things to say about them.
I bought a Vermont Flannel Co charcoal grey flannel at the Big E fair this year here in New England, it’s worth every penny the quality is excellent it’s my new favorite shirt. My only regret is not going with a plaid design. I will absolutely be buying more from them.
Hey Carl I just wanted to say thank you for inspiring me to buy to start my UA-cam channel and also inspiring me to buy the legendary whitetails western flannel in two different color ways I love you videos on work wear
Ok - Flannel Rules!! Heck, since watching your apparel vids, we need an extension to my closet space. Kidding, really enjoy your videos. Suggest adding some solids for a little variety. Oh, I've become pretty handy with wifey's stitch cutter removing those ridiculous exterior brand labels.. Cheers
One flannel to add (if someone else hasn't already) Kuiu. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEIR FLANNELS! It's 90% Cotton, 10% Wool. They now have tall lengths on their sizes (not sure if it's all of them). But I love their stuff!
First time watching your videos. I'm a flannel enthusiast. You talked about a lot of cool brands here, but the main problem is buying them from Portugal, the shipping is super expensive. Here in europe we've got a new brand called Volk. 70 € shirts and the quality is pretty sweet too. Cheers mate, looking forward for more videos
Flannel shirts are super, once had one for a few years wore the thing out ,however cannot remember the brand , it was more on the lighter side , and i am very picky as to what and which i would wear , price also imp. liked the choices you presented .will help me in my search
Flannel rules, for sure. My recent favorites are The North Face Valley Twill Flannel and the Outerknown Blanket Shirt. I much prefer the yarn-dyed, textured variety over the soft-to-the-touch, printed-pattern variety.
Being from the UK went for the Barbour Hogside Tartan Shirt this year which is technically a flannel shirt the Autumn Dress colour is really nice 👌🏻 Picked up a cheap one from Costco as well which is warm as hell and includes hand warmers at only £10
@InGrindWeCrust2010 was definitely £10. Think it had a black Friday discount. Can't seem to see it on their website unfortunately. If you have Costco membership worth taking a look they have a load of flannel style shirts currently. Not the greatest quality obviously, but keep you warm and look the part.
@@siggerz8637 That's still great. Even their inexpensive import stuff looks the business. I'll have a look in the local Costco even though I'm 5,000 miles away - worth checking. Thanks!

My favorites are the ll bean chamois - really has that big boxy fit I like and the ralph lauren chaps flannel for something a little lighter. Tremendous values. Flannel rules!
I thought Pladra used to be Made in the USA when they started. I loved when they had the sewn antler logo on their shirt as minimal branding. Freenote I've found the sleeve buttons too tight around the wrist after buying one shirt so I've avoided them even though I think their stuff looks great. Recently I pre-ordered a flannel workshirt from Bradley Mountain. Maybe they will make next year's list if they keep it in rotation.
When I lived in the Bay Area, I remember Devium was a favorite amongst the skaters. You'd see em wearing it to work and then afterward to go skate or hit the bar (or both).
I made the decision a few years ago to go with wool for winter clothing. Make the switch to wool and you’ll be warmer and more comfortable. Cotton is horrible at keeping you warm and so all they do is make it heavier. Sweatshirts are the only cotton cold gear I have.
Flannel rules! I have several high end flannels from 3sixteen, The Flat Head, Samurai, but by far my favorite flannels are from Freenote Cloth. They always have the coolest patterns and details, and the best fit. Relaxed but not baggy. I have a couple of Jepsons and Bensons. The Jepsons are nice and midweight, good for spring and fall, but the Bensons are the real showstopper. Thick 11oz brushed flannel that feels tough as nails. Carl - I finally pulled the trigger on a few Iron Heart flannels for fall this year because of your videos with Albert, and wow, they truly are next level. I highly recommend trying out the slub flannel from Iron heart this fall!
That Freenote Sashiko piece looks amazing! I scored one of their flannels on sale last spring and love it. Do a Flat Head flannel next year as your high end choice because they have very interesting fabric too. Flannels Rule!
I wear Jachs brand falnnel from costco and they are the best of all. Here’s why: they cost $12 and when they wear out you trade it for another one. Simple as that! I bought 10 flannels the first time and 10 more the second time. I have enough to last until they go on sale again.

Flannel Rules! Nice to see another flannel guide. Might I suggest checking out the Roots Cypress Twill shirt. 100% organic cotton, heavy weight(over 10oz by my estimate) and under $100! I would like to see how you compare it to other extra heavy flannels.
I'm waiting for the Brave Star Japanese wool quilt lined flannel which is mid priced among these cotton poly shirts which I feel is a better value than most of these. Possible exception being the Vermont Flannel rules!

Hey Carl! I think you would be interested in the newer tractor supply flannels (ridgecut) they are some of my favorites for the price but I like a thick stiff flannel. Thanks for the great content
Flannel rules! Devium for the win. I found out about them from previous end-of-year reviews just recently and I'm saving up for one of their canvas shirts. Honestly, between them and Vermont Flannel, I see very little reason to buy anything not made in the USA unless it's more of a casual item from Naked & Famous or a Japanese brand something (for those of us in the USA, anyway). I buy Duluth or Carhartt, etc. used anymore.
Flannel Rules! Love that sashiko and the Devium pattern/color as well as the N&F color. Great stuff, as always! Next year, you should review a UES shirt. Thanks for all of the videos!
Flannel rules, especially when I can find it in tall sizing. Legendary Whitetails has that in my size so I think I'm gonna order a couple. Thanks for the reviews!

Flannel rules! It’s hard to argue getting something for work that isn’t carhartt, but I have that legendary whitetails shirt. It’s a damn good value
oh yeah I've been waiting for this. I've seen them every year its tradition at this point
Been wondering about Vermont Flannel. Probably pick a few up as gifts, because Flannel Rules!
My favorite flannels right now are Taylor Stitch’s Yosemite line. Also been a fan of LL Beans 1933 Chamois line.
Flannel rules, especially when I can find it in tall sizing. Legendary Whitetails has that in my size so I think I'm gonna order a couple. Thanks for the reviews!
I am a Dixxon fan, hope you include them in your videos some time. But definitely gonna try some off your guides.
I own 30 J . Crew New York Sportsmen’s Outfitters flannels. I am a Southerner that identifies as a Northerner and have a flannel addiction. I really appreciate this video.
Is Dixxon worth the money? I love the look of so many of their flannels.
I love Legendary Whitetails, they're the perfect blend of price and quality. I have 5 and want more lol
Talking about the fit of each really helps with ordering on line thanks 👍🏻 FLANNEL RULES 🇺🇸
You bet! Tanker boots rule too! lol
@@CarlMurawskiand if Brave Star would have left the pockets out I think they would have been a great choice as well!!!
Flannel Rules. Great collection. Would love to check out some of these but they are expensive!!!
Flannel rules! Loved the mention of the gusset in the back that some of those shirts feture. They do make a difference and I hope they won't be a thing of the past in a couple of years.
Happy to see Legendary Whitetails on the list! Flannel rules !
Curious on how these rank up against a Pendleton, I've recently got into Wool Flannels so this was greatly helpful!
Flannel rules- the Vermont flannel fits my needs but previously I didn’t know about them, great video.
