Me, Anish George and family bought Verna after comparing it with other cars of the same segment. We bought it for the following reasons: It’s a very beautiful sedan Car with powerful engine. Nobody can resist its temptation. The cascade grille upfront gives the car a dynamic look. It’s modern and sporty in appearance. LED DRLs and projector lights give Verna a majestic look. It has a coupe-like design and i like that very much. The alloy wheels look like propellers and add to the sportiness of the overall design. Sitting inside the cabin of the new Verna is a pleasant experience for my family. The 7-inch display touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link and the usual options of FM, USB, Bluetooth and AUX-in connectivity gives us a new infotainment experience. Navigation runs through an SD Card and Hyundai will update the maps for you three times in three years without any extra cost. The rear legroom and head room are not spacious compared to city and Cias. So I reconsidered the idea of buying Verna. But I belong to a family 5.8 to 5.10 and there is enough space is available in Verna’s rear seat for my family. Not sure how many Indian families are 6ft high. Increasing the legroom is not at all a problem for a company like Hyundai. I think Hyundai has deliberately decreased the legroom in order to provide maximum comfort for the rear passengers. Otherwise they may sit at the top of the rear tyres. We have star dust colour and we bought it from Popular Hyundai, Adichira, Kottayam, Kerala. They are very friendly and we are really thankful for their hospitality. Wwe really enjoyed the day of car delivery. Verna looks amazing in that colour. First we have some reluctance in buying star dust colour. But it is amazing. I also like the smoothness of the engine. We also like the boot space. There is enough and more space in it. I test droved the city and Verna in the day time and also in the night. The cornering lamps, smooth gear shifting, blue illuminations etc. attracted me towards this beautiful car. It has ventilated seats and sunroof in the top model. But i bought the SX model. There are so many other features like cool glove box, sun glass holders, seating arrangements etc. One thing i noticed in Verna is its rear and front arm rest. It is a Premium Quality Car Arm Rest. It is aligned to the seats. The automatically opening trunk is another important feature. Hyundai has priced the Verna not only competitively but smartly. If you go through the features of same segment cars, you will surely feel like that. It has more features. If you test ride Verna, you'll surely select Verna. The marvellous features and the coupe like design will enchant you. In my opinion, the riding, handling, drive ability, comfort and power on Verna is by far superior to City and is also far more stylish than any other segment cars. The build quality of the body doors and bonnet were more solid on the Verna than other cars. Overall, the new Verna offers a ton of features inside the cabin, which offers a connected, comfortable and luxurious experience. I think it’s time to change the stereotype thoughts. New Verna is a totally new Generation car. The Sales chart of Verna also shows the trend. Proud to be an owner of Verna petrol.

This was one of the best reviews I stumbled upon at the exact moment when my mind was flickering whether to pick up the city or the verna. I have driven the new Verna and so I am eligible to comment on this review. I agree with most of your points. However, there is no comparison between the petrol City and the petrol Verna. The former is simly a league ahead of the latter. The petrol Verna is meant for uncles. Heck, the City's VTEC comes alive after 4000rpm. The Verna petrol is simply not as refined at higher rpms. The Verna petrol is not meant to be driven as hard as the City. The performance owners will look at the diesel (Verna) anyways. Hyundai knows that and have tuned each engine accordingly.
Athul S Kumar bro seriously!! You like the CVT?? The CVT is a blot on the City. And I am not exactly sure how you find the Verna MT to be better than VTEC MT.
Kanisk Singh CVT GIVES BETTER MILEAGE... I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE VERNA AT since 2009,2 previous generations in the middle East.... Considering the torque converter's mileage I would say CVT is better.... Anyway V both have extreme opposite opinions on everything ...lol... Nice talking to you
Nice review bu have to disagree with petrol manual versions. I am a honda city petrol owner of a 2017 model. Each and every car has some niggles and honda city is one of them and it does not mean it is bad. PRODUCT is good but it is localization which needs to improve. When you are driving a car at 140 KMS/hr in India no feature will come in to play except for the engine and honda city is a gem in this department. I am still perplexed when you tell verna petrol is better than honda petrol manual. Honda city has stiffer suspension and that is for a reason. ivtech motor is leagues above hyundai verna petrol motor. Drive it to believe it
Not many will drive @140 kmph in Indian Highways and even if they do, they cannot sustain that speed for long. So it makes no sense to have an 'engine' which is tuned to deliver performance at that speed when in reality all we need is practicality over that occasional michael schumacher mode

I was really disappointed with the rear space on the Verna. Lot of people get a sedan to be Chauffeur driven. And Honda City and i-VTEC is my choice any day

I do like the review of both cars that u guys made. For me driving in city traffic which is crazy and then hitting the highways for that much deserved road trips I prefer the Honda petrol auto variant the engine is far superior and that driving excitement that u get just doesn't come from the Hyundai. In short when SI engines are concerned Honda is best and if it's CI engines then yes Hyundai have better engines in this department. Good review guys hope to see more such ones for us middle class ppl looking to shell out a bit more for cars below 20 lakh category.
Not sure how many Indian family is 6ft high ... I belongs to a family 5.8 to 5.10 ppl and there is enough space is available in verna reat seat + Awesome digi friendly feature ... City is brand name which set the bar ... but it has been broken by new Verna 2017 ..

I loved the verna but the steering is dead at city speeds no feel at all, till 40 kmph 3rd gear. Elantra handles a lot better, Verna does feel smaller to drive.
How does it compare to the Verna in terms of drive, comfort and cost if owning the car? Shortlisted it to the Verna petrol SX and Ecosport Diesel titanium. Both come at 11.5 lakhs approx.
When it comes to insurance claim fee, engines above 1.5 will have fee of 2000.. So insurance claim fee is cheaper for city at 1000 and 2000 for verna, but still I would pick verna anyday for the powerful refined diesel engine, looks and features

Honda is a company that has been successful for people who are not rich in Japan by offering cheap but good cars equivalent to luxury cars. I was one of them, and for a long time I was a Honda user. It is company's policy to do different things from other companies. So when Honda seriously comes out, this company will do a great job. Honda has won the Formula 1 race that he participated for the first time, and in the motorcycle, he takes the share of the world number one in the world. Recently, Honda has also made small robots and compact jet aircraft. Honda thinks that the Indian market is very important, so Honda will analyze the needs of car fans in India well and think that they will provide satisfactory products. I think that Indian automobile users can expect from this company. From car fans in Tokyo
Hello Sir, there is a blinking red light in the middle of the dashboard (between the defogger vents) near the windshield. Can you please tell me for what purpose it is n why is it blinking?
nice review. seems like you are the only guys who have done a comprehensive review on the petrol variants. having said that, the fuel economy figures you have posted are no where near the real world scenario. i have test driven the verna and it was constantly showing 7-8 in the petrol MT variant. and the honda doesnt show much too. guess the city you are talking about has no traffic in :P . before the new model was launched, honda city was indeed the most sought after for many reasons. but now, in few forums the owners compain about the electronics problems and other quality issues in honda city. some complain about the rust and the gaps in panels. this actually made me prefer the verna (driving a santro from 12 years and hence the trust too!).
Agreed that Verna is more of a driver's car. But when u spend over a million repees u should get good comfort for the passengers. That is the basic need in this segment which verna lacks far behind. Verna's rear seat comfort is similar to i10 while city is superior.
I test drove both cars verna ditself is the most fun to drive.honda City is a great car but the build quality of the body doors and bonnet were more solid on the verna.so I got the verna
After watching many reviews in 2015 we bought Diesel Honda City...but no one then & even now reviewed headlights... Honda City is partially blind at nights... Now only in topend they provide LED.. On highways it's very hard to drive above 90kmph as the cattle/parked vehicles are not visible.. I'll say Tata Vista headlights were far better than Honda City's headlights. Please do review night time visibility of the cars..
Nagarjun Deepak Any issue you have noticed in Honda City so far in yoir experience ? Tyre noise, lagging infotainment system, bad rear camera quality and bumps for rear passengers ?
Himanshu Gupta hi! I facing main issue is of headlights they are very dull at nights if u cross 80-90 on highways visibility is decreased very much making u blind.. I drive middle variant of city diesel, my car doesnt have a rear camera as I m used to without cam I didn't go for aftermarket fitment also, I didn't have any connectivity issues with the audio system, coming to rear bumps to passengers - I feel city is better than other saloon cars in the same range, Tyre noise - I hav changed to 185/65 H -bidgestone tyres, earlier with stock MRF 175 tyres Tyre noise was loud, now has come down considerably...I was insecure with michellin so didn't go for that as many complaints in the net.(& soft rubber of michellin loses grip in wet condition - facing that in my bike..) Engine noise is very much pronounced in diesel city..& blower sound add to it...
Hello ZigWheel, i have one suggestion, better compare the old vehicles as well. E.g how 2012 Honda City and Verna are working now. So that people can understand the quality and performance. Also, share us if you have stats of maintenance cost. This will helps new buyer...Hope you understand my point. Good Luck to your team..

Hello Sir, there is a blinking red light in the middle of the dashboard (between the defogger vents) near the windshield. Can you please tell me for what purpose it is n why is it blinking?
Is verna vtvt sx 1.6 petrol is good to buy
good review.would like one of the elantra
nice review. seems like you are the only guys who have done a comprehensive review on the petrol variants. having said that, the fuel economy figures you have posted are no where near the real world scenario. i have test driven the verna and it was constantly showing 7-8 in the petrol MT variant. and the honda doesnt show much too. guess the city you are talking about has no traffic in :P . before the new model was launched, honda city was indeed the most sought after for many reasons. but now, in few forums the owners compain about the electronics problems and other quality issues in honda city. some complain about the rust and the gaps in panels. this actually made me prefer the verna (driving a santro from 12 years and hence the trust too!).
I love hyundai verna❤️
Good review! Nice to see petrol variants being compared. Can you do a similar comparison of diesel variants?
I drive middle variant of city diesel, my car doesnt have a rear camera as I m used to without cam I didn't go for aftermarket fitment also, I didn't have any connectivity issues with the audio system, coming to rear bumps to passengers - I feel city is better than other saloon cars in the same range, Tyre noise - I hav changed to 185/65 H -bidgestone tyres, earlier with stock MRF 175 tyres Tyre noise was loud, now has come down considerably...I was insecure with michellin so didn't go for that as many complaints in the net.(& soft rubber of michellin loses grip in wet condition - facing that in my bike..)
Engine noise is very much pronounced in diesel city..& blower sound add to it...
Nagarjun Deepak you did not try changing headlights to some other model ? Petrol is silent and best than diesel in honda city.
I will go for honda
Petrol variants mileage of both?
Bro which one best for me
I tried both cars but Honda city is very good than Verna and I bought city before 3 months

Is Skoda rapid competitor of these car?
honda city diesel ki bahar se sevices krwane ke kitne paise lgte hai batao sir
Verna's seat all the way back
City's seat at ur driving position
Paid reviews sucks !
M having verna diesel sx... city's diesel engine just cant match it in any front..
Is it city 4 gen ?
Prices include rto+insurence or not
Which highway did these guys shoot the video at......hard to find such places in India....
You are gigantic for such car, it is your problem 😂😂😂
Honda city is the real beast 😈😈😈
what about the ebd in verna.... does it have it ?
i am currently in search of a sedan . confused between these two. i liked the feel good factors on the verna, but will it age well like a honda? good review by the way. i am a big fan of Karthik and that the reason i subscribed to this channel, it would have been great if he was one of the reviewer here.
Nice review i am totally with you hundai verna is the best in segment car right now!!!
Unbox Zone yes right hundai verna is the best
Unbox Zone verna wins
