Hey Fam, I know we had pretty strong opinions on what we watched from Season 4. Did you decide to watch it or hold off? Do you think it’s an okay show for Christians? :) Patreon❤️ www.patreon.com/paulandmorganshow
If you think ST season 4is over the top, you should view some of Jeremiah Cohen UA-cam videos regarding the connection btwn Satanism and the movie & music industry. Most of his videos appear to make that case with a multitude of still photos and commentary.
@@run2cat4run What is the basis which makes it possible for you to determine that one is more messed up than the other? Logically I can see a case for saying anything fictionally created by a studio or author is not "as bad" as any real world event. I'm genuinely curious, not being judgemental.
My husband and I watched seasons 1-3 and we pumped for 4! We may have gotten 30 minutes in and had to turn it off because of the conviction of the Holy Spirit. It was demonic and knowing that the Bible says to stay away from the appearance of evil, we couldn’t watch it.
Christians are entitled to their opinions and thoughts about television shows, like everybody else. However, I have watched parts of your video, and I can find some disagreements amongst ourselves. Stranger Things was never *intended* to be a show for children, and to be expected, adolescents are swearing, which should not be surprising to anybody, I’ve seen much worse.
Yep. & Personal convictions are fine. Shoving them continuously onto others and questioning their faith if their convictions don’t match yours… is wrong.
@@emilyskomer2604 I dont see how they are shoving their personal convictions on others. They even stated at the beginning of the video, is not to tell others what to watch. Did you even watch the video??
As a Christian with a strict mother, I watched it as a 14 year old and I saw no demonic things in the show. Because when you watch season 4 specifically they call Vecna "undead" bur the thing is, he never dies. It's alternate realities and monsters not hell and demons. As well as everyone has their own opinion.
We as Christian need to get to a place where we can watch a series until it convicts our spirit and be able to say I’m out and move in with our life! Love it!
Yes for sure. I watched seasons 1-3 and honestly only liked season 1. I've heard demonic storyline and horror is in this newest season so I'm going to pass.
@@kaylan2083 Agree. I watched it from the start before it became popular and well known as it is to this day! I loved season 1 but looking back my faith wasn’t strong for the lord as it is now. I watched Seasons 1,2 and 3 and was reluctant about season 4. I’ve been watching and realising how the world of entertainment has changed for the worst in a lot of ways and could see how Satan is involved in it all. I watched Season 4 episode 1 and then decided no more! Right off the bat it is demonic. The fact it now has a group of people in a club named “Hellfire” says it all. As the children in the main cast as well have gotten older and are mostly adults now, things are getting more serious and less childlike as what was said. Looking back from this, Will was possessed and the monsters are definitely demonic. It’s saddening how christian’s aren’t discerning of this though while I knew right away it’s not Godly or good for our spirits!
Stranger Things has always been a sci-fi/horror show since season 1. Just because it gets darker in the later seasons doesn't mean it wasn't always a horror show. It's always been horror. That's why I love it; horror is one of my favorite genres, though I haven't started season 4 yet. As for the kids cussing, I don't know how it was back in the 80s, but I suspect not much different than today or when I was in high school (early 2000s), which means yes, kids do cuss (some of them do it a lot). Might not hear it much if you went to a private school, but in public school you'll definitely hear it.
Hearing you guys talk about how you guys don't like the cussing in the show kinda reminds me of the only religious character in Stranger Things, Suzie, who is shown to be very religious and doesn't tolerate cussing, which immediately made her stand out from the rest of the characters in the show. Usually in shows like this they usually demonize religious characters and make them the villains so I like that at least when Stranger Things portrayed a religious character like Suzie they made her intelligent, kind and super helpful ontop of being a little weird and quirky. Also, like in season 4 when we get to see her family I was kind of expecting them to be the typical, super religious because of what we've seen of Suzie but they honestly just seemed like an averge family, which I thought was nice.
i'm a Christian and can agree with the reasons to avoid it, but honestly it's hard to take your opinions if its literally on 1 episode. if most of your opinion is based off other opinions then maybe dont talk about it. Also the show isn't made for kids
I think it's one of those areas where, if it makes you sin, then honor that conviction and don't watch it. And I'll never shame people from not watching shows or movies. I think the season, even if it was darker, had some amazing commentary about mental health issues especially depression and that's why I loved it. It's telling people to run to your friends, run to help when you're having issues and in a way, it was telling me run to GOD, stop hiding your pain and talk to him. I know people are going to say 'well you should already know that or you should already get that from reading the bible' but I think people underestimate how stupid we can be as humans about our own feelings. In our worst moments, I think a majority of people tend to run from God and not to Him for help, and even if I got this reminder from a secular show, it doesn't matter to me, it's the reminder that's important.
I love stranger things! It’s one of my favorite shows. The last episode really ties it all together, I rewatched the whole series after seeing season 4 and the new stuff we learn. They’ve always said it’s supposed to be a show lead by kids for adults but now most of the actors are adults. They’ve said season 5 will have a time jump and they’ll all be in their early 20’s because they had a lot of filming breaks around Covid and the kids aged a lot. If you’re not into sci fi horror, may not be your show. No one’s forced to watch it lol, these comments are hilarious. I had no idea people were having spiritual crisis’s over it 😂 They are trying to stop the “demonic” forces not joining them.
I can’t imagine how depressed I’d be to be a fundamental Christian and having a problem with literally everything and literally always feeling like you’re doing something bad. That must just suck so bad omg
That’s one way to view it…but as a Christian I see it as a grace that I can view things through the lens of how it will change me. Everything we watch and listen to is going to impact us, even if we view it as a super passive thing. It’s more about asking- is this going to be something that impacts me in a positive way? If not, it’s not something I want to spend my time watching. Not because I’m labeling it as bad, but because I care about the person I’m becoming.
As a Christian, obedience to God can feel heavy by the world’s standards, but we as Christians are not called to live by the world’s standards. And as we grow in obedience out of love for God, obedience doesn’t feel like a chore. When the Holy Spirit lives inside you and helps you, obedience is beautiful and glorious and a big sign of growth.
I don’t think it has to do as much with “doing something bad.” It goes back to Philippians 4. Is the show glorifying good or evil? Is the show pure, lovely, commendable, etc? If not, it’s not legalistic to not want to watch it. It’s good for us to change the direction of our attention. It’s fine if you don’t want to live that way, but you shouldn’t judge people who do as depressed or legalistic.
@@kaitlinrose6352 exactly! Does what we watch honor God according to these ^^^ tenants? Does our watching it honor Him? Is it redemptive? Restricting ourselves on what we watch is so good. We're not called to just blend in or resonate with the rest of the world and cultural philosophies of the age, if they detract from God's word.
From the start the show is about opening up gateways into the spirit world or "upside down." As a Christian who has dealt with seeing in the spirit, I can tell you now that everything they show in Stranger Things is what is actually going on around us - the only difference is that they do not call on Jesus to save them. I watched the first few seasons knowing this but I felt like I could identify with the characters being called crazy and laughed at while literally experiencing very real trauma but have definitely felt a lot of conviction to stop watching a while ago.
That's an interesting take. I've always perceived Stranger Things as a show about closing those gates. Other people are opening doorways into darkness, however you would define that, and our heroes have to close them. I felt that season four really hit on that theme of fighting darkness with making the villain a supernatural representation of trauma and grief, two things that are the causes of a large majority of the inner darkness that people struggle with. Also with the secondary plot relating to the satanic panic, where certain people really capitalize on the recent traumatic events the town has suffered in order to gain support for their own unrelated cause. In fact the character of Eddie Munson, along with the real world part of his storyline, is pretty directly based off the real events of an actual man's life.
I thought the part where Morgan brought up depression and anxiety was interesting because as I analyzed it, the main villain, “Venca” actually represented unprocessed trauma and grief. As Max said in one of the later episodes, Venca goes after people who are hurting. I actually thought this was a pretty good representation of how not dealing with trauma and other mental health issues will eventually “destroy” you (granted, probably not as vilely as Venca did). I am still debating on wether I should watch this show or not, but I thought that the message was important, even if presented in a poor way.
Having gone to a public highschool and currently being in the military, this level of swearing is pretty normal. Even less than what i hear every day at work. Its not as frowned upon as it used to be
That’s a shame. Since it’s so prevalent in many of our everyday lives and sometimes unavoidable, I think it’s wise to avoid what you do have control of, like what’s coming through your TV screen :)
Agree, even in the homeschool circle I grew up around, as my friends hit about 16 or so they began cursing even more (and with stronger language) than what was portrayed in Stranger Things, even season 4. Unfortunately that's the culture now.
@@PaulandMorgan What's wrong with swearing? The bible isn't "clean" and it never condemned the use of any specific swear word, but its message--not to belittle, attack, use deceitful speech, DEMEAN--is one in which you both consistently fall short. You might not swear much, but you both say some pretty vile careless things. You never choose grace and you tear people down instead of building them up. Words are powerful. Avoiding a few "swear words" means nothing. You guys miss the point time after time. Look at the larger picture for once.
Hair was BAD in the 80s. LOL When I was in middle and high school, kids did curse like sailors. (They still do) Spend some time in a school cafeteria and you will be shocked. Doctor Strange and Wanda (Scarlett Witch) was always dark especially compared to other Marvel stories. As someone who lived thru the 80s satanic panic, I find it terrible that the same conversations are happening all these decades later.
I was whatever about horror movies for a long time…I thought they were fine, because they were fictional. Until I started getting sleep paralysis and seeing things during the paralysis episodes. As soon as I stopped watching horror movies and asked God for forgiveness and for deliverance from what I had subjected myself to the paralysis and visions stopped. Never again. Be careful what you let into your life.
The episode that hit me was Episode 4. My daughter is working on her testimony. And we’re thanking God for her soon coming deliverance from drug addiction and also rededication to Christ. That scene with Vecna and Max and how she broke free was amazing. She had the will and Love made a way. It was encouraging actually. Kids need to understand there are real demonic forces set on killing, stealing and destroying. Parents could use the demonic ugly visuals to illustrate that. There’s a very real spirit world. If you’ve ever seen someone get delivered from demonic oppression or possession you know. Just because children are in it doesn’t mean it’s meant for kids. If parents don’t want their kids to see it they can explain why. But isn’t it better to sit next to your kids and guide them than for them to be curious because you banned it and they watch it unsupervised at a friends house?
Hi to the guy who wrote Paul that he wasn't convicted to not watch it: First of all: I never watched stranger things. I don't even know what it is about. But to the "question" itself, especially since Paul said, you seem to really love God: It's not about feelings. Of course if something makes you feel bad, don't watch it. But the other way round it's not as easy: sometimes you don't FEEL something. Them remind yourself: It's more important to obey God, not matter the feelings. And if God says: "Keep away from the witchcraft" or "Think about what is good.", then it doesn't matter what you feel, just obey 😇
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4 v 8
So I haven't finished the video yet... but I just need to comment and say Thank you Paul & Morgan for speaking on this. My faith was rattled and I ended up living a sinful lifestyle & identifying as an atheist for all my teen years. And this all began at age 12 when I got into horror and witchcraft movies. Some people say "a movie can't have that much power over a person to do that". And that's true, the movie itself can't on it's own. BUT movies can lead you down a path, it starts out slow and subtle. And if you don't have spiritual discernment, it can absolutely open doorways in your mind and lead you into a darker lifestyle (based on a TV show that isn't even real). So this is a topic that really needs to be addressed, because I can see many young people even at my church being influenced by this show. And I totally love what you said Morgan... A show should never have a hold on us to where we feel like "I CANT LIVE IF I DONT WATCH THIS SHOW!!" I'm not gonna lie, I do have temptation to what Stranger things season 4, but I know for 100% that I will not do it. Partially because id rather spend my time doing other things, but mostly bc I'd rather set my mind on things above. And I know that I am actually susceptible for these types of things to tempt me. Blessings to you both!
Question to ask ourselves: Should we find evil entertaining? Even if the "heroes" of the show fight against the "evil," should Christians find evil entertaining? There is a difference between watching something because you want to learn from it and being entertained by it.
Interesting thought. I think fantasy films I like (say Lord of the Rings) do a good job of making you want to see evil overcome without making it too “compelling or entertaining”
If you water down evil you are pretending that it’s not as bad as it really is. Don’t be gratuitous, but there’s a very appropriate place for a full throated presentation of evil. For example what if you made an abortion movie but sanitized down the reality of abortion to avoid making people uncomfortable or disturbing them. I realize that that example is apples and oranges, I’m only trying to say that showing evil for what it truly is, is both at times appropriate and right.
Hadn’t you read the bible? God done awful evil things like drowning the whole world, burnt down a city then and killing first born sons. All that sound evil to me.
Is a story with out a antagonist a story? What happened to just enjoying well made films and still remaining faithful. Shouldn’t we be able to compartmentalize entertainment and learning?
@@PaulandMorgan to justify or rationalize the things we like is basic carnality. and it's hard to come to full grips that we are here give God glory period. No Christian on assignment should have that kind of time to give to worldly entertainment 3 seasons? How much productivity for the kingdom could you have done in that time? To me.. And the Bible if it doesn't give God glory we shouldn't do it. We can say it ain't that deep but that's why our world is how it is Christians on the slippery slope of carnality. Lord of the rings does not bring God glory. We are all on the righteous judgment wagon until it turns down our street😔
I've never watched Stranger Things, but decided to give it a try. I kept hearing about season 4, and did my own research. By what I saw, I decided to call it quits before I could get too invested. I only made it 2 episodes in season 1.
I'm so grateful that you guys are speaking up about this. My husband and I already realized about 70% through season 1 that this is heading in a horror direction and that something weird is going on here spiritually. So, we didn't have peace about watching it anymore. And it IS tough because the suspense is so good, the acting is great, and the directing is great! But, it's not worth it at all. Let's listen to God's voice and not rationalize away our consciences.
Paul, I think you SHOULD finish the rest of the season!!! I finished the entire season 4- I can tell you that there is (thankfully) no witchcraft or satanic content. The monster Vecna is not of demonic origin. The "demonic" aspects like hovering in the air are Hollywood tropes we associate with demons, from movies like The Exorcist. Not biblically based. *Swearing: might actually be toned down from earlier seasons. For example, no F word is used. *No s*xual content! A little bit of joking about "boobies" and a 1 second flashback to a scene from Season 1 was it. I find this very refreshing compared to most shows these days (especially Netflix)! *The violence and gore- Other than the bones breaking, I don't think it's worse than Season 3. You already saw the worst of it in episode 1, imo. *Worth watching? I would say absolutely, if you enjoyed the series enough to watch seasons 1-3. I loved Season 1, enjoyed season 2 + 3 but not nearly as much- so I had low expectations for 4 but I was blown away! It's a masterpiece combo of mystery/thriller/comedy/horror. The way the writers set it up to all tie together in the last episode- with the surprise of the monster's identity and Eleven's backstory.... it's incredible.
I felt super creeped out by how satanic and spiritual it was seeming to become, but im almost glad my husband and I finished the season and learned the truth of who the monster is. One thing I do appreciate with this show is that evil is clearly evil. They aren't trying to make the evil sort of good, no its just pure evil.
Agreed with this statement and how I feel about the show. I was encouraged to know that you're never alone in the shame and sin. The love & friendship that the characters have really encouraged me.I also felt alerted in spiritual warfare and was reminded that the enemy does not take breaks. I was left encouraged.
I just wanted to pop on here to say this- while I do agree that on some things we can have personal convictions on, I do think we need to be extremely careful to not become desensitized to content just because the world is trying to normalize it. I used to LOVE horror movies, it was my favorite genre and I was always trying to find the scariest ones involving demonic possession and other things like that. After I became a disciple, I saw the truth about how terrifying what I was watching really was. Growing up in a Christian household I had a sense of the truth and I think that’s why I was more scared by the supernatural movies, but when I got baptized and became a disciple myself I realized that demons are not something to be entertained with. It makes my stomach hurt even talking about it because I can’t believe I not only watched those things but ENJOYED it. I really do think the Holy Spirit convicts on these things and I think the reason why many Christians feel it’s okay is because we’ve become so desensitized to graphic content that we no longer “feel” convicted. Remember, just because you don’t *feel* something is wrong doesn’t necessarily make it right.
@@PaulandMorgan Agreed... I sat through the 4th season because the person I was watching the show with was extremely interested in the series. I definitely find the plot entertaining, there are some unique twists, beautiful cinematography, however like Paul and Morgan said, it's way too much darkness. I won't spoil the season but there are MANY MANY MANY moments that made my skin crawl. I have watched some scary stuff in the past but this was A LOT of darkness.
@@PaulandMorgan so it doesn't seems to slip your mind that not all people believe in God at first? What Max went through was super traumatic and depressing so I would see if one would lost hope in God I mean she watched her brother die and she's living with the grief and trauma and when she was held back by Vecna she saw hope so maybe the "junk" was needed.
Girl, I here you. It can be easy to justify entertainment that we deep down know we should avoid! I watched this show in 2017, but would avoid it now.✝️😊
My husband and I watched all three seasons and after watching the first episode of season 4 I felt super uncomfortable watching so we decided to stop watching it. If you feel uncomfortable watching that might be Holy Spirit, don’t ignore it :)
I'm surprised anyone ever considered Stranger Things to be a show for kids. I guess that perception came from the presence of children, but that's not the same as a show being "for" kids.
Also SPOILERS the bad guy isn't Satan he is actually one of the kids with powers just like eleven, but he is also a serial killer with a lot of mental illness so its still technically in the sifi thriller genre, which is not to excuse the dark themes in the show, just saying it's more theoretical science, and not straight demonic possession, just adding context. But it's still probably not pleasing to the Lord,
This is late but I want to weigh in. I watched the whole video and Paul asked at the end what would stop a fellow Christian from watching a show, after being prompted with opinions similar to this. So as someone who is going to watch the rest of the season, it would be if a show/movie romantisized evil. Now characters of any show are going to romantisize evil within themselves, because we’re human and we sin, but if the message romantiszes the evil (sin) that is the breaking point for me. (Ex: Lucifer, shows with a ‘love wins’ message, You, Sex Education) I share a similar opinion with the people about how the Bible has deep and dark topics, and that personally I learn so much about people and relationships from ‘deeper’ shows.
I watched the first episode and I felt spiritually troubled. Spoiler alert: the satanic death of Chrissy in the first episode was the most demonic death in a tv-14 show I’ve ever seen. Don’t watch it.
@G -MAN If you can’t stomach simulated violence, that’s totally fine. But it’s a TV show designed to entertain. A story. We’ve been telling and consuming stories since the beginning of time. What is the spiritual cost of watching this TV show? I truly don’t understand this perspective. Also, the DNA of early Christianity code for a lot violence. The Bible is full of it. If you don’t like the show, don’t watch. But there’s no need to invoke satanic panic.
My husband and I loved season 1 and 2. We didn't like season 3 as much but wanted to continue the series. When I saw the trailer for season 4 I told my husband it has gotten way darker and I wasn't sure about watching it. He didn't think so but after watching two episodes, we are both pretty convinced it isn't a show we should be watching. It just feels very dark and the world is dark enough. We don't need to add that to our lives.
That makes sense to me. I really enjoyed all four seasons, but I definitely agree that the most recent one is the darkest. If that is a deal breaker for you, especially if you didn't like the last season, then there is no reason that you should watch it. I'm of the belief that adults should be allowed to watch or not watch the shows they want to.
i’ve seen a lot of ppl criticizing the very beginning scene where all the kids are dead, but I find it hypocritical because ppl love star wars and there’s a scene in star wars where children are murdered by anakin, yet stranger things is evil, and star wars is for kids, such bs!
I recently learned that there are written and unwritten rules for films some by studios, the industry, or directors. It appears most of the rules existed to not be too terrifying for audiences. Now, for shock value and thrills - many of them are being broken. For example: I learned no women are killed on screen in any of the Jurrasic Parks and this was done intentionally. Jurrasic World 1 has a scene where they show a woman killed in a very dramatic, but not gory way. I don't watch horror movies, but I have heard by movie reviewers that children are being increasingly killed in them at the request of directors or writers for similar reasons.
Unfortunately, kids' cursing is super common nowadays. I'm 20 myself, and even I remember I started swearing back in pre-school. The habit really only broke in high school (this was a year or so after getting saved) when I really made an effort to clean up my thoughts and speech after feeling very convicted about it for a long time. It should also be noted that I grew up in a Christian household where cursing was very much considered wrong. Despite that, I was a very rebellious child who was very good at hiding many of the sinful aspects of my life, so my parents really didn't know about that stuff. Not only that but a lot of the kids I knew that lived the most immorally and had the biggest cursing problems happened to grow up in Christian homes and even went to youth groups. Just like me, they lived a double life. I think a significant factor as to why these kids acted like this was from growing up in the public school system. A lot of public schools have a culture of anti-religion and pro-rebelliousness. If you don't act super sinfully you're seen as weird and get socially rejected. In order to fit in a lot of kids end up giving in and living opposite to how they were raised and what they know is right. I think many "Christian" kids especially go off the rails because they tend to be sheltered when they are young. Once they are exposed to the world they really don't know how to handle it.
I’m a Christian, and I watched what they’ve released of season 4 so far. I have mixed feelings about it. Is it incredibly dark/feels somewhat demonic? Yes. Are there redeeming qualities? Yes. (In fact, there’s a particular scene I really loved showing a character’s friends helping and encouraging her out of her darkness and guilt, and literally guiding her away from Vecna/death...although she’s missing real hope that comes from the Gospel) There are some great messages here. And the end of volume 1 of season 4 does clear up a lot of things and shows a distinction between good and evil. BUT, there is a lot to wade through in the process. I think we see 4 or so more deaths happen in the same way as the girl in episode one. We also see the aftermath of children who have been killed this way. There is also violence and gore. They don’t expand too much on the Dungeons & Dragons gameplay, EXCEPT the town is chasing after the leader of the group, thinking he is the murderer. Additionally, they’re leaning more and more into the homosexual agenda. So it’s definitely a mixed bag, thus why I have mixed feelings about it! I enjoyed watching the first 7 episodes and don’t have a check in my Spirit about it, but I understand why others would want to stay away.
I agree whole heartedly about not watching the show. I wanted to point out that “taking the name of God in vain” is not referring only to our language or cursing. It’s talking about bearing the name of God as believers in Jesus. Calling yourself a Christian is a serious matter, being loose with with that and how it directs or doesn’t direct our life is crucial if we want to influence the world for Christ. “Bearing God’s name” Carmen Imes’ book is incredible!
100% agree with you, Morgan. It shouldn’t be a big deal to let go of entertainment when our faith is on the line. Jesus said it first “if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out.”
I never got into stranger things, didn’t get pulled in by the first episode! Now I’m so glad I didn’t get drawn in, because I’d be struggling with this decision. Ok I’ve had to pull myself out of shows I’ve liked before- grey’s, riverdale, orange is the new black etc. but what Morgan was encouraging of Christians to push back on the ability for this entertainment to OWN us is so important. It’s not worth distancing myself from God over!
Im a Christian and I feel like everyone is making such a big deal about this show on the Christian side and I really don’t understand why. I don’t think it is bad to like to watch horror or creepy movies or shows it is just a preference. If you like watching it then watch it if not then don’t watch it. I don’t understand why anyone Christian or not should feel bad about watching this show. It was never a very kid friendly show in the first place so that hasn’t changed. I think dark and creepy shows honestly reflect the real world we live in and it doesn’t necessarily mean you are supporting evil if you like to watch a show like this it is just real.
It might reflect it but we are not called to lay eyes/listen to everything. In Matthew 6:22-23 Jesus says “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!” In Philippians 4:8 it says “ Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” By living in the world, we are already naturally exposed to a lot of darkness and sin. Why continue when not necessary? By necessary I mean for example watching/hearing the news or in certain jobs like being a cop or else. In the world we live in it is hard to filter what you look at or hear but God is understanding and is willing to help us. On my part what helps me when I am unsure about a movie/show , I imagine Jesus watching whatever is being played with me. If it sound too ironic or awkward, I got my answer. It might sound corny but it works🤣.
It might be reality to the world but as christians we know that the world is more than an evil place and why it is the way it is. In this way we do not share the same reality as the others who did/do not accept Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Yeah of course I think there’s definitely some garbage like sexual scenes and some lgbtq stuff they could have definitely left out of the show. They could have just made it thriller horror without some of those scenes and people would have still watched it. In our society people think they need to have all the garbage to get people to watch it.
I think it depends from movies to movies. Horror can be a simple jump-scare to totally gore stuff or giving super powers to satan. At the end of the day, the Bible says to do everything by conviction but also not not let our convictions condemn us because we are called us to base our convictions in the word of God. The Bible also says that we are Judged according to our knowledge. Therefore if after reading the Bible and asking God you are sincerely convinced that horror movies are something the Lord would condone then there theoretically is no issue. I am speaking from a broader point of view because I was myself still trying to figure out if whether or not I should watch season 4 because the trailer looked very dark. Sometimes trailers can be very deceiving compared to what is really going on in the show/movie in order to attract views. I still answered your comment since you talked about horror movies in general and because what the Bible says about what we consume is to be applied to every genre of music/movies/shows. * If I made spelling mistakes or weird turn of phases feel free to ask me for clarification 🤣. I do not speak English on a day to day basis and some things that can be said in French don’t make sense in English and sometimes I forget*
Thank you for this video guys. I wish I would watch it before I saw episode one. 🤮I have to say, I don't watch a lot of TVs, because of many reasons, but with stranger things, I really liked the first seasons. I think the music is amazing, and it used to be about feeling suspense but not horror. However, as you guys said: they crossed the line in this season. It's totally demonic, is so sad they had to go there. I won't watch it any more. Also, thank you for the advice about looking into the parent's guide, I never do that but sometimes it is so hard to find things that are interesting but clean that I think I have to start.
Morgan what you said at minute 13:00 and 20:00 yes and amen. It’s idolatry, church! We need to hold loosely EVERYTHING in this life!! Keep up the good work P and M!! ❤️
Thank you for speaking truth! My nephew, who was a Christian got hooked on this show. He was visited by 2 very dark spirits..he woke up to them by his bed. It scared him so bad, but he ignored it. He shouldve listened to the holy spirit convicting him because he later went through a VERY evil lifestyle. He even burned all of his bibles! People please listen, you are opening up your mind and soul to satan when you watch these things. The bible says RUN from the very appearance of evil! This show definitely appears evil so Christians should run...EVERYONE should run!
I never watched the show bc the big reference to the show during season 1 was the ouija board on a wall with Christmas lights. Ppl had that for Halloween decorations. 100% from season 1 I was convicted to not let that kind of stuff enter my mind
I'm surprised you two even watched so much of the show. It was Sci Fi horror from the beginning and never for kids. I was a kid in the 80s and watched the Xfiles in the 90s. It's a mix of both. Did either of you two watch the Xfiles?
Ephesians 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
I get it. The entire time I was watching, I found myself asking myself.... should I be watching this? Am I inviting evil into my life? Into my home? By watching this. And I don't even think like that (though I also don't watch much horror). I watched the entire thing - all the seasons... But since then I've been praying for protection - just in case....
As a Christian, I watched the show. It is not a family show and it is not something you watch repeatedly. The writing, though has very strong Christian/Biblical themes, especially in Season 4. SPOILER ALERT: The main character became stronger by focussing on love as oppose to hate like the villain does. One of the characters are treated as an exile and freak by the town, yet he ended up giving up his life for the "town that hated him" (actual line from the show). There are continuous themes of agape/sacrificial love. Several character sacrifice their life to save others (John 15:13). Also, the Duffer brother, in an early interview, stated they are Christian and their faith has been a big influence on their lives. As Christians, it is important that we assess things in a spirit of understanding and judgement, and not in one of condemning and judging. Seeking to get a deeper understanding and don't just judge on the surface. 1 Thess 5:21. I won't actively encourage others to watch it. But if I am asked, I will say it is a show with positive themes but in a very dark setting.
Man I was gonna watch this season 4 because I heard good things about it from my non-christians friends. I am ok with violence, gore and language (grew up as a Christian and attending public school). But you got me with would Jesus be down to watch this show with me, sitting on the couch. I think I am gonna forgo this one. I really did enjoy season 1. I guess I can just go watch that season again lol. I already cancelled my Netflix subscription because of the whole "Cuties" thing. I know Netflix is going downhill and it seems like it is just continuing. Thank you for the recommendation to check parent guide before watching a show/movie. I am gonna take that advice. God bless! Cheers!
These are the important social.issues? 19 children were horrifically killed in your country last week but tv is what you're making videos about. This is embarrassing.
Thank you so much for doing this review! My husband and I watched the first episode and didn’t even finish it. You all are absolutely right, our spirit would not allow us to finish. This is just a ploy of the devil to draw people into the demonic world! Yes…flee from this! Check our spirits! Love you guys!
I feel like a lot of Christians are not good at distinguishing between actual evil and harmless edgelords. Eddie is a harmless edgelord. I would see drag characters or other things like that as actual evil rather than some d&d nerd.
@@PaulandMorgan np, I do actually like you guys even though I think you take too weak of a stance against degeneracy. I remembered seeing you on the JLP show. I’m subbed and I’ll continue watching, I like getting to hear the opinions of more stereotypical modern Christians. I am much more old school about my Anglican faith.
To be honest, I thought Stranger Things would be too much for either of you on any season. I get it if you have a child old enough to watch TV if you want to follow these guides. They are a big time save. But you are both GROWN. I know we don't share the same faith but I did grow up Christian and want to a Christian private school for a good while. I will let you know there is no movie or show that ever had me shake my faith ever. Rarely do I listen to recommendations to watch something or not to watch it. The only time I ever do is if I am on the fence about it. Sure there have been some things I regretted watching but that has nothing to do with my faith or how it made me feel about it. It was because I was upset that it was a huge time suck and waste of money. I do like the horror genre of movies but there has been people who tried to put me down and bully me because I didn't really like the Saw movies. I saw the 1st one and liked the premise of the story but it was too gory even for me. But as I said, they "TRIED". How pathetic would I be if I allowed people to make me feel bad because I know what I like and what I don't? Morgan says on more than 1 occasion, "it's just a show. Why do you feel the need to watch it?" Um... Maybe because you like the writing and are curious as to what comes next? It isn't that much of a head scratcher. It may not be something your husband likes but that doesn't mean he has the right to try to convince you to stop watching it. That is being controlling and you aren't being much of a partner Paul. I do have to admit I have been HUGELY desensitized. But that has nothing to do with movies, tv shows, or even music or video games. It is all these mass shootings that happen constantly in this country that no one wants to do anything past "thoughts and prayers". Thoughts and prayers are great but we have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that thoughts and prayers alone do NOTHING.
I applaud you for being so sophisticated and being invested in the scripts of movies. Sometimes I wonder what will happen next whike watching a movie but I usually need to hear a movie reviewer go through it to help me understand the writing choices. I'm sure there is much nuance and hidden meaning in your comment, but taken at face value - you are suggesting in this broken world you are desensitized; and therefore, feel little to nothing about tragic shootings. So, I think you would be more into action movies than horror ones? Horror is more largely linked with supernatural, revenge, and monster themes than with explosions and gun toting vigilantes. Yet you are also very focused on and offended by the topic which you claim is the source of your desensitization. Seems contradictory, but I applaud you for being self aware. You might not be able to take away all the guns yourself. Or vote one time and fix the problem forever. But, you can probably support victims, be a loving human to people you interact with (suicide is the #1 cause of firearm deaths) , be an aware member of your local community, help raise awareness of helpful public safety measures, support organizations that direct hurting youth into topics you are passionate about, and more.
@@davidharman7245 I'm pretty sure I know what caused me to be desensitized and how it came about. When Columbine first happened my reaction was absolute disgust and sadness and fear for many things. My feelings were raw and strong. They were the same for other shootings that came soon after. But as time went on with little being done and politicians fighting tooth and nail to do as little as humanly possible, those feelings just started not being as intense until one day I actually caught me a reaction to yet another school massacre being something like "oh, another one?". "Gee I wonder what their recommendations going to be? Oh look there's a surprise, politicians are yelling at people not to discuss it yet because it's not appropriate.". I think the moment that I heard that coming from myself, but more fear into me than any school shooting or massacre ever has, and I think rightfully so. It's so funny how these people who are trying to put blame on everything but what should be blamed keep on trying to put it on violence on TV or the violence on in movies, the violence in music or video games. But I grew up with that my entire life and still felt sick to my stomach and disgusted with when these massacres happened. All you have to do is just look around. There are other countries in this world and lots of them that have the same violence in their movies TV, video games, music and have just as much guns per capita as we do. They have mentally unstable people. We don't have a monopoly on any of those let alone all of them. And yet we are the only country in the entire world with the gun problem and massacre problem that we have.
Going to be very honest I watched the entire season even after me feeling convicted I shouldn’t and many times while watching which I regret so deeply as I disobeyed God for it. I 100% recommend no Christian to watch it, we are called to place our eyes on light and that is not light, won’t be watching that show again. Also wanted to mention that im public Highschool and yes people do use that much cursing.
@@krisimarovska6244 is it really a lifestyle though? Because I don't think it is. I think it's who people are. There is more to people than their sexuality just like there's more to people than the color of their skin. Don't forget at the end of the day love is love...no matter what.
I watched the first 3 seasons, there’s nothing in me that is compelled toward this show anymore. It seems to me, “premium streaming services” have gone away from being about quality entertainment without ads and is now about pushing the images on screen as far as they can morally, emotionally, and physically to a younger and younger generation. I had a really hard time watching Love is Blind Season 2(guilty pleasure) because of all of the cursing and sensuality shown compared to the first season. Paramount+ has a “dating” show where the participants engage in animal mating rituals to “find love.” Our entertainment has gone down the drain. When I stepped away from mainstream entertainment, my eyes were opened and my relationship with God flourished.
Inspirational to draw nearer to God. After I watch dark content like this I feel an indescribable weight put on me. One night when finishing up an episode, I felt scared and uneasy all night.
stranger things is in the horror genre. it was never a show meant for kids, it was always meant more for teens so it’s not going to be made with small children in mind. i’m a christian and i love stranger things, it’s one of my favorite shows. i watched all of season 4 and it’s my favorite season. this season was definitely far more into the horror aspect than the other seasons but i didn’t have a problem with it. i also didn’t see a problem with the cussing, i didn’t really notice it. i wasn’t alive in the 80s so i don’t know how the cussing in school of kids that age was back then, but i doubt it would be very different from how it is now. you would be hard pressed to find a freshman in high school in a public school that never cusses. it is a little more demonic i guess you could say, but that’s the point of the show. i don’t see a problem with anyone watching it, i’m still not sure why you guys don’t like it. also i feel like everyone watching this video should take your opinion with a grain of salt because it’s based only on the first episode and mostly on the opinions of others and it seems like you’re judging a book by it’s cover.
It gives me the creeps just listening to your descriptions!😂 I'm a bona fide wimp and would never be able to watch any sort of a thriller or horror! Especially anything gory!😣 It is truly sad to know that people feed their own anxiety with this kinda stuff... My dad and I have talked about this before, and we feel the obsession and following of the horror genre are totally fed by the devil. I think when you grow up in a wholesome home, your spirit is more alert and awake and sees things for what they truly are. Also, always love the parents' guide tip!👍 Thanks for such an honest review!
It’s interesting in the last episode where El, basically “casts” him out and puts Vecna into the upside down or the representation of hell. When this happens, he says “you didn’t trap me you set me free” and it really just made me think about God casting out satan.
@@gretchengramer7655 CS Lewis’ content was clean. He gave clear metaphors in his writings & he was a Christian. Stranger things is as secular as it gets definitely not trying to bring people to God, in fact I think the opposite. Just my opinion. We can agree to disagree 💛
It is definitely a dark story. However, in many ways it is the typical good vs. evil trope. And in the end the good always prevails. And just an FYI - the opening scene is a confused memory.
And remember our world today is good vs evil and you can't watch the news if you don't want to see demonic evil that is real as opposed to a TV show that is fantasy.
If your having trouble to stop watching shows that are demonic or praise sin let me tell you I struggle with this as well. My guilty pleasure is TV. But I advise you to pay closer attention to how you feel before-during-after watching a show. For instance I use to LOVE watching Criminal minds. So intriguing. But for the longest time I would go to bed feeling scared that someone was going to break into my house & kidnapped me. These dreams got very dark at times. Another time I watched a lustful movie that tempted me into sin. All because of something I watched?! You can’t tell me media doesn’t have a influence on you. But sometimes it’s not always that obvious. And I understand movies can affect people in different ways. But don’t tell yourself lies “it’s just a movie it’s no big deal” protect your heart and mind. I’ve started just watching Disney movies but nowadays you can’t be safe watching those either because of the agenda Disney has. Christianity comes with sacrifice. And I can tell you not watching TV is something you may have to consider. God bless you all!
After watching the first episode, I found it dark, demented and demonic. As the show progressed, things are put a little more into perspective, but there were other things that bothered me, too. Religion was a theme throughout the season. A couple positive nods were given to prayer and "miracles", but the balance of the season tended to be mocking, dismissive or critical of religion, and Christianity in particular. Some of this is due to the comedic nature of the series, and I think we should be able to take a joke sometimes, but it seems that this is the general vibe of Hollywood nowadays: being Christian, or religious in general, is passe and uncool, and Christians are portrayed as anachronistic, narrow-minded, feeble-minded, and oppressive/ authoritarian.
I really appreciate this, I felt convicted before I could even get to watch this and I’m glad I was able to see this video because it help me better understand why.
Wow thanks for the react! I really liked the first season but honestly I heard the 2nd season wasn't as good and after the first was so good I never believed the other seasons could top it!
Your eye is the lamb of the Body! (Lk 11:34-36) Personally i have never watched stranger things even tho i had all the means to, The fact is most movies can be portals for demonic attacks in peoples lives, or they give demons the authority to enter our lives(covenants). Now whether you believe it or not that’s up to you. But I grant you the more you come close to God, the more He will restrain you from watching certain movies. I grant you!!
I may be more sensitive than others, but I have even felt strange watching season 1 of this show; can't exactly put it into words, but it makes me feel a little depressed, anxious, and strange inside. In one of my college courses, the professor was hitting on subliminal messaging and how producers can sneak things in to shows and movies. They know how the mind works and how to get people hooked. Whether it's the Holy Spirit, the TV producers, me trying to use discernment, or a combination of the three, I have stopped watching the show altogether, even though I was just getting into it. Appreciated Morgan's point that we need to be okay with moving on from a show.
This is my fave show and I am a very devout Christian. Not lukewarm or anything lol. Vecna is not the devil, he is a person with abilities like 011 who got sent to the upside down. It is all fantasy, none of it is real things that could happen, the upside down is fake. I agree that it is much freakier this season, but I would not classify it as demonic. Maybe the actions of vecna may be considered to be influenced by darker things? Also y’all talked about the swearing thing for a long time, y’all should really go out into the world sometime and not just with your church friends. That’s how you speed the gospel, by being around people who are not Christians. I don’t like people using the lords name in vain, but they aren’t Christian’s so we can’t hold them to the same standard. I also believe that words are just words, it’s the context that matters. Calling someone a mean curse word is against the Bible, but saying shit if you stub your toe is not biblically wrong. The Bible never says specific words you can’t use it says do not curse others with your words. We give words meaning and context. But in the end everyone is allowed to have their own opinion, in their own convictions. God bless you guys ❤️
Just some encouragement for you. God Bless! “Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every appearance of evil.” I Thessalonians 5:21-22 NKJV “Guard your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23 NKJV “Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.” James 3:10-12 NKJV “Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”” 1 Corinthians 15:33 ESV
Are the directors/writers Christian? If not, then why are we expecting them to not be secular at all as well as their creation/show? Why sit there and critic something we know might not be godly nor pleasing to the Holy Spirit then make a review on it to not watch it because it was too dark or not godly enough when we know it was already a secular show to begin with? Edit: Okay, so your review got me watching the show now. It seems like the cheerleader is being attacked in her mind and the thoughts based from words of death spoken by her mother and they have formed guilt and shame in her life and a stronghold… the evil dude is feeding on those fears and thoughts. It’s kind of a bit discouraging that you both couldn’t pick up on this and instead took it as the girl is possessed instead of seeing that she has mental health issues and we know because of the word of God that we all have a war in our mind therefore must live in a lifestyle of repentance (change of thinking from the way of this world and satan, to the kingdom of God). We as Christians should be able to discern this in non-Christians (or even Christians) and to be able to pray for them and the principality over them.
@@ashleydowney1222 power of life and death are in the tongue… what I saw in the cheerleader scenes was how much of a stronghold her mother created by speaking all those words of death over her daughter and it also reminded me of my own upbringing… similar to her but my dad did all the body shaming and I ended up with an ED. It wasn’t until I got saved that God touched on this and helped me to see my body in a way that had me weeping during prayer time with him. I heard whispers of: I made your eyes. I made your nose. And so on with each part down to my toe nails. Then later at another time He touched on my ED and helped me regain a healthy view of food and my body when He led me to a fast. I was able to work with kids at church and was very careful about the words spoken over them by me and volunteers and that not all the kids there came from good home or words of life and that I’m responsible to speak life over them. Anyways, we as Christians need to realize we didn’t get save to just not watch bad things but to actually save the world and others bound by satan.
I’ve never seen stranger things when season one, two or three came out but i heard about it when season 4 came out. So I decided to watch it for the first time because I thought it was science fiction. I got to season 3 and 4 and i started to not like it and it was very dark, and horrific too, And It did seem demonic in season 4, I’m a Christian too and I wouldn’t recommend it and definitely wouldn’t watch it again. When the second doctor strange came out I went to the see it and I ended up walking out of the theater 20 minutes in, Because it was very dark too. I do agree when you said would God want to sit and watch it and I would say no He wouldn’t. We as Christians are supposed to fill ourselves with what is good and the word of God and not darkness.
Morgan, you mentioned this, but truly, I wonder how many people are affected negatively by movies/video games like this related to mental health, depression, sleep, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, agitation, etc. Would be interesting to see a study on this.
i watched four episodes and i really need to take my time with this season. it IS really dark but besides that i do enjoy the show and watching the actors grow through out the seasons
I’ve watched all 4 seasons. I really enjoy the show. I think it’s far enough removed from reality that I can enjoy it as entertainment. I have a harder time watching horror/ slasher films. But I respect your decision to stop watching. Everyone has a different preference and boundary for what they enjoy and consider acceptable.
I've watched the first three seasons. I loved season one, it was a good thriller, fun flashbacks to the 80s, I loved it. Then season two, I stuck with it but it changed some. Season three was hard fir me to stick with. I felt the demonic stuff had gotten stronger then. I did see the season through but I did not like it as much Now with season four, I have not dived in. I'm not sure why, just not interested and maybe the LORD is keeping me from it. Then I started hearing about why maybe Christians shouldn't watch. And now your review of it....I don't need to see an opening scene like you described. I've never liked slasher movies and it sounds like season has turned into it. Along with the gay character storyline and demons, and swearing, and all...nah not for me. You know how if you put a frog in tempted water and turn up the heat, the frog has no idea until its too late. Perhaps this is how this show is. Like the world view right now, we lead to believe this is normal but is it really? Certainly not from God's perspective. It's gone too far for me.
I watched season one and maybe season 2. I feel conviction on a lot of movies that are out now though, and I won’t even go close to stranger things now. I definitely think there is a spiritual aspect to movies that a lot of people don’t realize. The Bible talks about not setting wicked things before your eyes, and a lot of movies and shows are wicked, even some that seem harmless. I try to be careful with what I’m looking at, because if you’re not careful, at least in my experience, something that seems harmless, can lead you down a path of sin. Good job for standing up guys.
I love watching movies but it is so sad that all the popular movies and shows that I want to watch are so dark and not Christ centered. It would be great if you guys could make more movie reviews and videos about what movies and TV shows are ok to watch. Thanks, love your guys channel!!
I think it’s personal. It requires prayer on if you should watch this season. I watched the first episode of season 4 and it SCARED me cause it was horror, and while I didn’t feel spiritually convicted to stop, I stopped to pray about it before continuing. I then felt okay to continue, especially since I pray daily and had conversations with my family about it. Parents guides definitely helped, too. The only people in my house who watch it are my Dad, my older brother and I. It’s something to pray about for sure, just like after I watched the new doctor strange movie. Just my personal opinion :)
If it offends you, you are free not to watch it. The key here is that there are areas of life where you will need to use discernment for YOURSELF. Your conviction is not a blanket that applies to all Christians. I love the series, will continue to watch it and I am not convicted not too 🤷🏽♀️
Thanks for your review. I initially stopped watching after Season Two but have decided to watch Seasons 3 and 4. There are some positive messages like family, friendship and good versus evil. Still, we have to be careful with the occult and sorcery elements. Approach Stranger Things in the same way we approach Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel and DC. Focus on the elements that best align with our Christian beliefs and worldview while avoiding those that don’t. We can still enjoy them while still knowing what our Christian identity and values are.
Ahhh… I really loved season one. I literally can’t remember much of season two but I remember season three being pretty dark. I have yet to watch the latest episodes but your review has made me hesitant for sure! I love feeling a bit creeped out but I do draw the line at demonic anything in films or shows. I just can’t handle it in my spirit and it quite literally is a drain on my soul and heart. I stay away from horror movies (especially anything gory or paranormal) for this reason. Dannnng! I was pretty excited for this season. Out of curiosity I will give episode one a go, but won’t push beyond that if I feel any conviction. Thank you for your review!
As I said before, I'm not a Christian but I find your opinions interesting and honest towards Season 4 Stranger Things on Netflix. For me, I have seen it twice and yeah, it is dark and thrilling but also I have seen UA-cam videos from the Cast Members themselves including the actor who played Vecna. He's a very talented guy (British by the way), his attitude was spot on for his character and he explained the details how he got into the Vecna suit. The more I watch the behind the scenes and watch clips from the Duffer Brothers how they did the cheerleader death scene, it ease the fear factor down. Of course, it's all green screen and VFX effects they used to make it look real. That's all. I love Eddie Munson who is the Leader of his D&D group. Very out going guy, weird, and humorous but I do feel bad for him when his reputation got ruined over the death of Crissy (the cheerleader) where she died in his trailer home. Anyways. I have Season 1 and 2 in my shelf and I do plan on buying Season 3 and 4 whenever I get to find them. As for you who are Christian, it's your life and your walk, these opinions you expressed, they are your own and your concerns for your fellow Christians who have seen this show, just pray for them. But for me, after watching Season 4, nothing negative happened to me. So yeah. I think it just affects people differently on a individual bases.
You guys hit this on the head 100% this type of contend is not for those seeking Christ if you can find a way to expose this stuff that is the purpose of having to observe it. You watched it and did a great thing by making this video you could expose the Satanism in this show for hours. Starting with their dungeon and dragons club being called The Hell Fire Club.
I'm glad that Paul listened to what Living Waters says about taking the name of the Lord in vain. This is-or at least, should be-a big deal for those of us who are in Christ. FYI: sad that we have kids being shot in schools yet many of us enjoy tv shows like this
The world has gotten us used to the fact that the Fbomb is seen as the king of swear words and using God or Jesus in vain isn't when in reality, that scale should be flipped. Using Gods name in vain should be the absolute worst thing you could do. I personally could never accept using or going to support something that uses the name of the God of the universe and my personal father/savior as a slang word. I'm glad you all touched on this show because some Christian friends of mine actually mentioned to me that they were going to be watching Stranger things part 2 tonight. I've never seen a complete episode. Out of curiousity, I watched a couple of clips and I felt dirty and tainted afterwards. It is filth and Christians and the world alike are being groomed to accept this type of thing (the vulgarity and the occultic themes). This does nothing good for us and you can't say that after watching something like that, it has drawn you closer to God in your walk with him. The ground work is being laid for the antichrist to return and as Paul says, there is a falling away that comes before the man of sins arrival. There is a falling away as believers are becoming more accepting of the worlds themes and they begin to partake in them. As Jesus states, Will I find faith when I return? We MUST hold the line. Don't support this garbage and pray even harder than yesterday.
I can definitely relate to getting hooked and wanting to finish something even when it gets darker or more worldy, I have quit shows or books before when the holy spirit has told me they were hurting my spirit but for some reason I didn't get that while watching season 4. I think I have become desensitized to swearing but even I noticed the excessive amount of cursing this season, it's lazy and kinda pathetic, I know I am affected negatively by a lot of the shows I watch and have decided to stop watching TV for a while, I respect and aspire to set my standards as high as you guys but story's are my passion and I can't resist good writing sometimes.
We justify what our flesh wants with excuses why we should do things that we know we shouldn't. God is pretty clear about how He feels about what we should and shouldn't entertain in our lives and in end when we don't listen the only one who suffers from disobedience is us. Honestly when you see the world and Christians moving in the same direction someone is going the wrong way...it's up to you to figure out who that is, them or you.
I tend to lean away from anything that's super popular in mainstream, for no other reason than I wasted two weeks of my life reading/watching twilight and it was just a bad experience. and it had nothing to do with it being demonic or about vampires. it was just a poorly written piece of fiction and I don't have high hopes that society has good taste. that being said, I've never seen 1-3 of Stranger things but my husband has, he was watching ep 1 of season 4 yesterday while i was crocheting on the bed so i caught some of it; the end was terrifying but the rest of it was 'meh' at best. Also, I've seen pictures of my moms hair in the 80s (i was born in 91) and it definitely wasn't that bad. They just didn't get good wigs or maybe done on purpose to be more "80s Camp horror" instead of just a normal show set in the 80s.
I enjoyed watching season 1 and 2, but that was before I was a Christian. I haven't been super big into watching movies/TV shows. I no longer watch any shows. Would rather read a book or listen to a podcast :)
I could not even get through the first episode! When that lady sewing turned around, OMGosh her face!!!!!! I rebuked that evil mess in the name of Jesus and shut it off, I REFUSE to watch the rest of any STRANGER THINGS. I'm done!!! BTW if you do not know already this show is based on a conspiracy theory called the Montauk Project, which is why I first started watching, and was hooked. I think by now most people know the Montauk Project, is no longer a "Theory", based on advanced in DARPA projects like "Remote Viewing" and such. Things are just becoming more evil, because Jesus is returning soon!
So I finished the season but I skipped through a lot of scenes after watching the first episode and the ending of the first episode was so horrible and gross. I personally don’t like horror movies I don’t put that stuff in my brain. I’ve watched stranger things since the beginning and I loved how it was sci fi but when it became demonic absolutely not. Season 3 wasn’t too bad definitely got darker but season 4 was a whole other level. After I finished it the devil was tormenting my mind and I couldn’t get that scene in the first episode out of my head. I couldn’t sleep it was horrible I had major spiritual warfare going on after I finished the season. The Holy Spirit kept reminding that He has a peace like no other and it surpasses all understanding. Honestly wouldn’t recommend it I know it’s tempting to watch but to guard your hearts stay away from this.

In the bible remember how Lot offer his daughters to be gang rape since gay gang rape is wrong. So the bible is more mess up then Stranger Things.
I agree with that
As non religious, this shit got pushed heavy onto kids. You should know how this game works by now homie
Love it!
🙌
Might not hear it much if you went to a private school, but in public school you'll definitely hear it.
exactly. you’d be hard pressed to find a kid in a public school that doesn’t ever cuss
That’s cool :)
yes because christian representation is so important
Yea I agree too but Suzie was helping Dustin cheat for school and felt convicted and said “ I will repent later” which kind of got be mad.
You must not be around many highschoolers, their language is beyond tame compared to real life teens 😂
The kids in IT chapter 1 represented middle school boys perfectly too. People just don't wanna hear it.
Right lmao 🤣
For real
i'm a Christian and can agree with the reasons to avoid it, but honestly it's hard to take your opinions if its literally on 1 episode. if most of your opinion is based off other opinions then maybe dont talk about it. Also the show isn't made for kids
I've watched it more into depth like till episode 5 and I can tell you that it is very evil so you shouldn't watch it
I think it's one of those areas where, if it makes you sin, then honor that conviction and don't watch it.
YESS!! I agree!! and I'm Christian!
@@aloe704 is it not a sin to watch it?
@@jazz1376 it's not a sin to watch it
Right exactly 💯
@@melissablazo I have that too. You can have morals and improve yourself without being religious.
🙏
Appreciate you weighing in :)
I agree with what you're saying, but it's a sci/fi series. How else is it supposed to be presented?
It’s not presented in a poor way at all.
Having gone to a public highschool and currently being in the military, this level of swearing is pretty normal. Even less than what i hear every day at work. Its not as frowned upon as it used to be
every kid is swearing, at least most of them
That’s a shame.

I’d like to have a conversation with whoever thought Stranger Things was ever a show appropriate for children!
😊

Hi to the guy who wrote Paul that he wasn't convicted to not watch it:
First of all: I never watched stranger things. I don't even know what it is about.
But to the "question" itself, especially since Paul said, you seem to really love God:
It's not about feelings.
Appreciate you sharing🙏
JESUS is focused on getting rid of His enemy once and for all so JESUS has no time for stranger things on a television.
A show should never have a hold on us to where we feel like "I CANT LIVE IF I DONT WATCH THIS SHOW!!"
I'm not gonna lie, I do have temptation to what Stranger things season 4, but I know for 100% that I will not do it. Partially because id rather spend my time doing other things, but mostly bc I'd rather set my mind on things above. And I know that I am actually susceptible for these types of things to tempt me.
Blessings to you both!
Thank you for sharing, Marty🙏
Wow well said 👏 amen
😊
I'm so grateful that you guys are speaking up about this. My husband and I already realized about 70% through season 1 that this is heading in a horror direction and that something weird is going on here spiritually. So, we didn't have peace about watching it anymore. And it IS tough because the suspense is so good, the acting is great, and the directing is great! But, it's not worth it at all. Let's listen to God's voice and not rationalize away our consciences.
🙏🙏
Totally agree!!
Agreed with this statement and how I feel about the show. I was encouraged to know that you're never alone in the shame and sin. The love & friendship that the characters have really encouraged me.I also felt alerted in spiritual warfare and was reminded that the enemy does not take breaks. I was left encouraged.
no one has finished season 4 yet. 2 more episodes get released on july 1
@@samanthan2999 it wasn’t satanic or spiritual at all
I just wanted to pop on here to say this- while I do agree that on some things we can have personal convictions on, I do think we need to be extremely careful to not become desensitized to content just because the world is trying to normalize it.
Good insight :)

I’m glad to hear it has a good ending, I just don’t think it’s worth having to wade through so much junk and darkness to get there :)
@@PaulandMorgan Agreed... I sat through the 4th season because the person I was watching the show with was extremely interested in the series. I definitely find the plot entertaining, there are some unique twists, beautiful cinematography, however like Paul and Morgan said, it's way too much darkness. I completely agree it was extremely hard to watch the first episode of season 4.. It felt so uneasy with my spirit
I'm surprised anyone ever considered Stranger Things to be a show for kids. I guess that perception came from the presence of children, but that's not the same as a show being "for" kids.
😊
Yeah that was straight up demonic
I feel that :)
As a Christian who watched Stranger things I didn’t really care
😗
i’ve seen a lot of ppl criticizing the very beginning scene where all the kids are dead, but I find it hypocritical because ppl love star wars and there’s a scene in star wars where children are murdered by anakin, yet stranger things is evil, and star wars is for kids, such bs!
That is so true
Appreciate the comment
Appreciate hearing your thoughts :)
I agree!
Thank you for sharing🙏
100% agree with you, Morgan. It shouldn’t be a big deal to let go of entertainment when our faith is on the line. Jesus said it first “if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out.”

Yes was going to comment this
I never got into stranger things, didn’t get pulled in by the first episode!
🙏🙏
Appreciate the comment. Is there anything that you wouldn’t feel good watching?
🙏🙏
Appreciate the comment
I'm surprised you two even watched so much of the show. It was Sci Fi horror from the beginning and never for kids. I was a kid in the 80s and watched the Xfiles in the 90s. It's a mix of both.
Did either of you two watch the Xfiles?
I never got into that show :)
Ephesians 6:12
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
SPOILER ALERT:
The main character became stronger by focussing on love as oppose to hate like the villain does.
God bless! Cheers!
You should watch it. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it at all
These are the important social.issues?
19 children were horrifically killed in your country last week but tv is what you're making videos about. This is embarrassing.
Dude like they're just reviewing a show like everyone else.
Thank you so much for doing this review! My husband and I watched the first episode and didn’t even finish it. You all are absolutely right, our spirit would not allow us to finish. This is just a ploy of the devil to draw people into the demonic world! Yes…flee from this! Check our spirits! Love you guys!
🙏❤️
how is this comment not a joke
😂😂😂is joke?
I feel like a lot of Christians are not good at distinguishing between actual evil and harmless edgelords. Eddie is a harmless edgelord. I would see drag characters or other things like that as actual evil rather than some d&d nerd.
Thanks for weighing in :)
@@berlin990 😊
I love seeing you guys posted! Both of you are rays of sunshine in this dark world ☀️ May God continue to bless you both!!
Awww❤️
Going to be very honest I watched the entire season even after me feeling convicted I shouldn’t and many times while watching which I regret so deeply as I disobeyed God for it. I 100% recommend no Christian to watch it, we are called to place our eyes on light and that is not light, won’t be watching that show again. Also wanted to mention that im public Highschool and yes people do use that much cursing.
13:50 just for when you guys claim youre not homophobic ill whip this out 🥺
Not everyone has to agree with this lifestyle
@@krisimarovska6244 is it really a lifestyle though? Because I don't think it is.
I think it's who people are.
There is more to people than their sexuality just like there's more to people than the color of their skin.
Don't forget at the end of the day love is love...no matter what.
Suck it up people have different beliefs than you.
Love it, I think you bring up some really good points
😊🙏
It’s interesting in the last episode where El, basically “casts” him out and puts Vecna into the upside down or the representation of hell. When this happens, he says “you didn’t trap me you set me free” and it really just made me think about God casting out satan.
😗
Right!! But the important thing to remember is El is not God. Only God can do these things. We are to flee from demonic things and witchcraft.
@@adriahrestituyo506 Truth!!
@@adriahrestituyo506 do you also not watch CS Lewis? What’s wrong with metaphors?
🙂
Good job sticking to your convictions🙏
Wow thanks for the react! I really liked the first season but honestly I heard the 2nd season wasn't as good and after the first was so good I never believed the other seasons could top it!
The more I’m watching this the more I admire you Morgan you are the friend we all need! Bless you for being so bold and on fire for the Lord!!!!!
Thank you, Lora❤️❤️
for me I watched it with the viewpoint of spiritual warfare but I get where you're coming from ♥
Your eye is the lamb of the Body!
Appreciate you sharing that :)
God Bless!

“Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.”
James 3:10-12 NKJV
“Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.””

@UCtD_1mLgatjB8ve4y8iWa3Q I completely agree. I thought it had more to with mental health issues verses possession.
Appreciate you sharing your perspective :)
💯% agree with all Morgan has said
😊🙏
i watched four episodes and i really need to take my time with this season. it IS really dark but besides that i do enjoy the show and watching the actors grow through out the seasons
🙂
I’ve watched all 4 seasons. I really enjoy the show. I think it’s far enough removed from reality that I can enjoy it as entertainment. I have a harder time watching horror/ slasher films. But I respect your decision to stop watching. Everyone has a different preference and boundary for what they enjoy and consider acceptable.
Not too far removed from reality... look up CERN if you want to go down a rabbit hole for a few hours...
Same on slasher films, though. Monsters I'm ok with, but demon/ghost/slasher films are solid no's for me
Appreciate you weighing in :)
I've watched the first three seasons. I loved season one, it was a good thriller, fun flashbacks to the 80s, I loved it. Then season two, I stuck with it but it changed some. Season three was hard fir me to stick with. I felt the demonic stuff had gotten stronger then. I did see the season through but I did not like it as much
Now with season four, I have not dived in.
Appreciate the comment
It was never a show for kids. It is rated 15. Not all shows with kids are for kids.
Then why our children in this instead of adults ?
It was based on a book I believe and I think because they showed the adults, teens, and kids povs in the show but idk
Thank you for your review!
paul and morgan when people make movies/shows that aren't centered around christians 😰😥😓😖😱
FYI: sad that we have kids being shot in schools yet many of us enjoy tv shows like this
🙏
Stranger things is amazing and terrifying.

😊😊
In my opinion ep. 7 redeemed all of it. The bad guy was not a demon. I thought it was good writing.
