The pool can symbolize all the "good things" in life: Career, marriage, money, social circle, even charity. We are like the invalids. The world promises us the pool can give us fulfillment and solve our problems, but the truth is that Jesus is the only source of healing and salvation from sins
I would argue that it represents man's attempts to describe God's ways and His will, forgetting, as C.S. Lewis so adroitly put it, "He's not tame. But He's good."

Guys the bible tells us more people go too hell than heaven if you live in sin and don't repent you won't be saved and god doesn't send people to hell if they go too hell they go of free choice! Hell was made for the devil and his angels you should watch billy garham give your life to Jesus we are in the last days and Jesus loves you and he shedded blood on that cross without the shedding of blood sin cannot be forgiven and sin is very serious in the eyes of god I was depressed to and sinned for fun I had suicidal thoughts I remember in my room one night I told god that of things don't change I'm gonna kms I was sorry weak and at sometimes so weak I felt like I was dying then I remember a really good day came a day I loved so much and wanted more of so on that same day I remember saying god, I'm just gonna trust you and when you try to do something right the devil attacks you so the next day was horrible I don't wanna say how it was it was just horrible! I stayed strong BC after so long of trying to go to anything else but god they all failed me so I held on to god as the reason let me skip to now and say I started off faithless now I'm so faithful in god I started off worried for my future now I know its something gods gonna handle I'm not feeling depressed anymore the whole year of 2022 was hard but with god I made it threw! Now I learned so much and love my relationship with god I know he loves and cares for me AND HE LOVES AND CARES FOR YOU TOO! I have a vascular necrosis in my femur bones and haven't been walking well for the last year. I cried my heart out watching this. And I made an about face totally changed my life in big ways. In the last 10 years I quit drugs, in the last year I have quit alcohol, I was a functioning alcoholic, I quit smoking cigarettes, 2 packs a day. I quit drinking 2 16 ounce redbulls a day. I've quit cursing. I slip up on that every now and then but I'm trying. I picked up my Bible and read it. And I pray many times each day now. And my pain isn't totally gone but it's more tolerable. Im walking without my cane now. Life is good and I am happy for the first time in a very very very long time!!!!

Although this will sound a silly observation. This scene helped me realize why Jesus spent all his time with the poor. The rich have (less) doubts, less fears, less pain, less need. The poor are more likely to be broken. The God who created all things - just think of it. The heavens and the earth. The animals. The humans. The beauty. He sent himself in human form to earth and spent the whole time with the least among us. He witnessed their pains. Their suffering all the while he himself was experiencing human temptations. And after doing all this truly good work, we humans killed him. We murdered him in the most brutal of ways. Only for him to return, resurrected, and when he approached us humans they were frightened. And what did he do? He said he comes in peace. Shalom. I would desire to serve no other Lord.

@@Jedi_Are_Scum Indeed. There's almost no independent corroborating evidence, and what independent evidence there is was written at least 40 years after Jesus' supposed death.
Anyway, even if an itinerant preacher named Jesus (or rather, Yeshua) DID exist, that in no way proves that he performed "miracles" of any kind; the gospels were written almost a century later at minimum, and in an era when the vast majority of people were illiterate, history becomes a protracted game of "Chinese whispers" wherein ordinary men become superhuman heroes after only a few years of gossip.
It's bizarre how willing people are to put their faith in a 2,000+ year old tome, and it's even more bizarre how many of these professed "Christians" haven't actually read any of it and essentially pick and choose which doctrines and decrees are most convenient for them to follow... the most bizarre part of all, however, is how such a vast proportion of "Christians" don't behave in an even vaguely Christ-like fashion, engaging in mockery, hatred, abuse and violence against those they deem inferior, all of which the Jesus described in the Bible would find utterly abhorrent... I mean, there are "Christians" out there who legitimately attempt to compare Christ to Trump, when Christ himself said "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God" - these aren't sane, reasonable people. I swear some of them literally want to drag humanity back into the darkness of ignorance and superstition because they can't handle a world that they can't control (even though it's blatantly obvious that nobody is actually in control of **anything**, it's a total delusion and we are all victims of our circumstances).

The healing at pool of Bethesda hasn’t been every portrayed in a representation of the the Gospels. John 5:1 has always been a great inspiration for me when reading the Bible. It seems ironic but many people start turning to religion in their early thirties wherever they are in life in terms of career, relationships, family planning and marriage.

I watched this again and the words from Jesse, “I have no one to help me into the pool when it’s stirred up, and when I do get close, the others step down in front of me.” Those words stick to me, but it’s regarding an entirely different matter. Not about being paralyzed and wanting to be healed from that.

All those stories of him doing supernatural stuff was written 100 years after he died.
People alive at the time never mentioned any of it, and for the most part, weren’t even aware of him.

Everyone talks about the actor who portrays Jesus in this series, who's really good, but the actor they chose for the invalid in this scene is amazing... the pain, anguish, yet wonder, and questioning he has on his face throughout it's just awesome because it shows all the emotions he's going through in about a minute and a half to 2 minutes span!!

This was my favorite scene of the entire season! So we’ll done. What a powerful reminder to me that Jesus can help me with things I’ve struggled with my entire life!

Healing the mans broken leg and reading from the first chapter of Genesis while John watches as tears run down his eye while going back to the future where John writes the first verses of chapter one of the Gospel of John. I cry too! Every time! I was at the pool of Bethesda in January 2023, I told our awesome tour guide how awesome the scene was from the chosen , and how it made me so emotional! She had no reaction. 5-10 minutes later she ask me to come forward hands me the microphone to share about this scene.

I love the actors portrayal as well but I can't help but feel they chose someone too tall and handsome to portray Jesus as it's contradictory to what the Bible tells us about his outward appearance being unimpressive. Still I understand why they chose this superb actor.

It hit hard especially because I'm going through a really hard time right now, and something about this video just gave me the strength to keep going because I feel something coming for me. God never gives you more than you can handle. He gives you the strength for the turbulent times. Many claim that God is with them because they live with little to no problems. That’s not when God comes through. God comes through when you are in a hardship like you’re having or the blind man by the pool. Please continue to believe. Please attend a church of your choosing and listen to the word. God is always there for you. Try and live the Word. You won’t be disappointed. I was once a know it all college student. I thought I knew the answers to everything without God. I blamed God for everything. Now I’m a practicing Catholic married to another amazing practicing Catholic and we have 2 kids. A good life is not easy to attain but if you put in the work, you can get it.
You know what, even Jesus was temped but he never gave up. Sometimes thing really go bad on you to test your faith but if you keep that faith, obviously things will come to huraaayyyyyy so don’t turn away from God be a of hardships. When the first man sinned God stepped behind and gave us a free will but the problem is when God stepped back chaos erupted to the world. And guess what, if God gives us everything we need, no one will still worship him, we as human will say “ I have everything I need in life, why should I worship?” And that is why becoming a Christian will require a strong faith. Majority of rich people no longer worship God, they are materialistic

He is my second favorite portrayal of Jesus on screen. My first being Jim Caviezel in The Passion Of The Christ. It’s a challenge for any actor to embody and portray that flawless, selfless, and loving nature of Jesus, and Jonathan Roumie did an amazing job.

John writing his Biblical testimony is the icing on the cake. We might not have had the honour of seeing Jesus perform His miracles, but we're cherished to read about them even after two thousand years.
One of my most favorite scenes. This touched me to my core, as I was that man. I had been suffering the effects of the trauma from severe abuse I experienced in childhood that went on until I was 18.I am now 69 years old. I had made attempts to overcome it with therapy, medication, and alcohol abuse. As I watched this scene, hearing Jesus repeat "do you want to be well" I realized I had not truly wanted to get well. I had so much buried guilt and shame I thought I did not deserve to be healed. Also, I was thinking that someone else was going to "fix me", when all along it was Jesus I needed. The Chosen series is one of the main things that helped me realize this and I since turned back to the Lord after wondering around in a spiritual dessert most my life. Now I feel as Mary when she said, "I once was different but am no longer the same" (not sure of exact words)

I watched this again and the words from Jesse, “I have no one to help me into the pool when it’s stirred up, and when I do get close, the others step down in front of me.” Those words stick to me, but it’s regarding an entirely different matter. Not about being paralyzed and wanting to be healed from that.

This is the best TV show about Christ, cus it's broad and centers on many other things and other people's lives before and after their encounter with Jesus. And this Jesus here is an emotional one. I recently got this scene as an ad. Yes it was a skippable one, but I sat through it all. I'm not religious by any means but the acting, nonetheless the story, truly is captivating.
I don't know where to watch this series in full but I do know that I'll binge it once I have the time.
It's really, really good. Trust me on that. The acting, the historical details, etc., and most of all, the message. Even non-Christians can watch the series and catch a glimpse of what true Christianity ought to look like.

Watch this 2 years ago and it changed my life. That time i am having a multiple anxiety and panic attacks and i have no one to share my worries and fears but this healed me. God healed me through this. My anxiety lessened and my faith got stronger. It's true, we only need Him and only Him. Thank you, Jesus. 😇🙏
I love this scene! Gets right to the heart of the matter, "Do you want to be healed?" Yes, we are going to face difficulties and trials in this life, but do we want to be healed? I think my favorite part in the scene is when Jesus goes to talk to the man. And the man just says “Me?” Like he’s shocked that anyone would take any amount of time or care in talking to him, let alone God himself. I love how this series highlights how Jesus always zeroes in on the people who are the most broken and loves them.

The pool can mean money, "success," a job, or a better job, a house, a relationship, a medical treatment, a trip, a prosperous business, etc. and we think we will find "what we are looking for"! ....if we reach that. And sometimes we complain and suffer when the system or others don't allow us to reach "the pool."
However, deep inside, we know that the plentiness of fulfilling happiness is not there.
Jesus, who shows us the way of unlimited and unconditional LOVE, and FORGIVENESS! is the ONLY we need!
Once we wake up and realize that we are ONE, UNITED as brothers and sisters by the Love of God through Jesus, we will understand that our individuality just makes real sense by recognizing others as part of us, and loving each other is in our essence, in our spiritual nature!.
There is where we will find the plentiness of fulfilling and eternal happiness. By loving and forgiving and helping each other with genuine empathy.
Jesus is alive, here, today, with us, showing us the way!
Let us stand up... and embrace the real LOVE that Jesus demonstrated (Father forgive them, they do not know what they are doing), let's get rid of hate, resentments, fears, insecurities, blaming others, etc. and ...our souls will heal. Then our emotions, minds, our biochemistry, physiology, and sometimes our bodies will regain balance and health. Or at least we can find inner peace and acceptance after having done ALL we can, and more. Fighting the good fight with peace and faith.
Forgive ALL, tolerate ALL, and let us embrace compassion, empathy, and unconditional love, becoming also accountable of our behavior, and working smart and hard, with discipline and ethics to evolve toward the best version of ourselves. Like the parabole of the talents.
Jesus shows us the way to become those who understand all and forgive all. Jesus' last words were of forgiveness toward those who betrayed him, tortured, humiliated, and ended up killing him with hate.
Let us ask the Holy Spirit to grant us the capacity of offering others our extreme and unconditional love, even to those who hate us, as our enemies.
As Jesus showed us.
All we need is HIM.

I love when Jesus gets as excited for a person who gets healed by the miracle Jesus himself performed. We always look at Jesus as a greater being but “The Chosen” reminds us that he is also human. This series does a great job of humanizing Christ, we see his fear, excitement, joy and share his pain and disappointment. Yes, he was sent down to give us a second chance but when he breaks into a sweat, sheds a tear or simply smiles, we are reminded that not only is he our savior, he is also a beautiful human being. I really like this series and what they have done with it.

Love this scene. I remember hearing a sermon years ago in which the preacher used this scene and made it sound like a rebuke from Jesus to the paralysed man for not trying hard enough to get to the water. The idea was that this was why he wasn’t healed. It didn’t sit right with me and I didn’t continue watching this preacher ( although everyone else seemed to think the teachings were so good). I kept thinking this was so out of character of the God we serve.
So grateful our Saviour came for the weak and the vulnerable, the forgotten and the lost. He is our only hope.

Look up “Kathryn Kuhlman” on UA-cam, listen to her preachings, she’s in heaven today but my family and and friends keep getting healed of sicknesses by watching her preachings online even today. I just love this scene. It's so real and applies to many of us in various circumstances. I like the way the man says, " I don't know". He says it with the honesty of a child. Sometimes, many of us don't know why we rely on the pool, yet deep inside, we know that it does nothing for us. Excellent script writing!

The love and compassion of Jesus comes through so powerfully in this scene! It grips my heart every time. EVERY.TIME.
Typing through my tears... when Jesus says "You've been having a bad day for a long time." I know Jonathan is just an amazing actor... but that line... I felt like it WAS Jesus talking to ME through the T.V. It rocked me in the deepest way possible. Thank you to the Chosen, and thank you to Jesus for never giving up on me even when I gave up on myself.
"Do you want to be healed?" This line was absolutely perfect. Jesus's words always cut straight to the point. The only thing standing in the way of our healing is ourselves. The choice was never taken from us.
When I see videos of Jesus, all I feel is great comfort. Like he is speaking directly to me with his love and mercy
This series has been a real blessing for Me. I truly feel like I was with him during his time on this earth watching this! There is so much more he did that was never written about! He is amazing, miraculous, and the wonderful all at the same time!
