    In this CarGurus Used Car Review Chris Knapman explains what makes the Octavia such a good buy, looking at practicality and running costs, as well as identifying any common problems to be aware of.

    I bought a nov 2016 150hp petrol tsi 6gears manual with bixenon (the ones in the video car), with most of the options still under warranty in July 2017 for 14k, a few months ago tuned it to 180hp. Everything works faultless, the car is quicker than most ppl think an octavia is (Ive surprised a few bmw´s), which is a fact I really like about it. Car looks great to me, is comfortable, silent, has everything you need for everyday use or long trips. The Car still feels new, and one year later, Im happier with it every day. Great car and so happy with it so far

    I got my 2016 octavia VRS 2.0 TDI last week, it has every box ticked! It's got a 7 speed DSG, panoramic roof, wireless phone charger, racing seat upgrade, black optics package, bi xenons, technology interface package and the list goes on. All this for a £13,000 car is amazing!

    Car reviews that don’t show the engine start, or the car actually being driven by the reviewer are just hilarious.

    Even though the UK government is on the war path against diesels I still recommend the 1.6 TDI engine super frugal and nice and torquey for its size. Love mine just make sure you run it down the motorway every week or so to let the dpf do its thing and don't skimp on fuel get good quality fuel like BP or shell I use v power in mine to try and keep the egr valve happy a known weak point in this engine.

    Diesels can burn oil on long fast runs.
    I have experience of this from driving an Octavia diesel on the German Autobahn.

    Is 1.6 AT better than 1.4 tsi engines? Thank you for your time and reply

    • @pakkinen

      I have the 150hp tsi engine on mine, and really like it, one surprisingly quick little engine. Extremely silent, about 6,2lts in daily normal use, 5,5lts on road trips. Drving it, it feels a bit like a diesel engine, since the turbo kicks in at low revs and kind of die a 4000rpm, and from there to the limiter the car doesnt feel to push that much.I got mine with manual gearbox because it is a great working 6speed gearbox and dsg are known for having expensive to fix issues. Hope it helps

      because it's perfect if you want a car that is not only noisy but also incredibly lethargic unless you keep it above 3500rpm!

    I have one the boot is amazing .... inside is 💩 why it has a massive transmission tunnel running though the car is beyond me . The leg room is poor for this size car . The diesels all have dpf filters which makes the car sound noisey and ruff at times . The look of the car is very pleasing on the eye . I'm getting 44mpg city driving 1.6tdi. Free tax . Would I buy another one .... no . To me they all go wrong with a dpf filter. I've not had one problem in 6 months . But I just don't think they run very smooth and if you see the hassle and cost of replacing a dpf . It's wrong for a filter to be on a car that's not servicable .... they are so much better options out there hybrid are the way forward diesel has run it's course and in my opion not really improved much over the last 15years apart from emissions being lowered . But you will end up paying for it dpf egr will all cost ..

      I have Superb TDI. No problems with filter on 118000 miles. Just need to go above 40-50 mph every so often. They're not designed for city driving.

    • @adamprice9214
      @adamprice9214 2 роки тому +1

      They never even lowered the emissions they all lied about it, diesel has run it's course.. I'm here as I need a 2nd hand reliable car that's cheap to run (probably a diesel) but I'm at a loss as to what to buy. Its seems whatever you buy it's pot luck and no matter the make or mileage they can all go wrong and be darn expensive.. I even thought hybrid and epv would be the answer (not that I'll ever be able to afford one) but with talk of tolls on the roads and significantly dearer tax to cover the black hole left from decreased fuel sales (60% of which is tax) higher insurance premiums on epv/hybrid & ever increasing energy bills the consumers will always be kicked in the balls while the fat cats win win win 🏆

    Car reviewers are so deep in the car rabbit hole that they’re out of touch with people who buy cars. It’s only car reviewers that compare the Octavia to a Ford Focus, Golf etc. All because of the way it’s boot lid opens and it’s familial relationship to the Golf. Prospective buyers surely compare it to other mid to large saloons. 3 kids and a pram are not going to fit in the Focus
