I always cancel my ticket if I don’t think I’ll be able to make the screening. It takes 2 seconds folks
Exactly, it’s very quick and easy
I don't have it bc I can't afford it but I see no reason to not cancel if you're not going to be there. Like what does it benefit you to let a ticket lapse?
If I know I can't make it I'm gonna click the cancel button cause I'm definitely going the following day
A List Member here... yeah makes perfect sense..... AMC probably doesn't like customers like me... I don't buy any snacks at all.... ever. I wouldn't wanna get on their bad side even more!
Last week I did a double feature of Transformers One and Whiplash. Almost didn’t scan in for Whiplash as I had already scanned for Transformers One and it’s on A-List anyways it’s not like I’m stealing or anything. But I had time to kill while waiting for food and so I scanned in anyways. Glad I did.
That’s why there’s a “cancel reservation” button
I always cancel if I can't make it....

I've cancelled a reservation up to 30 minutes before start. It's so easy. 😝
I wonder how much this has inflated the box office due to dedicated fans.
it's juts common courtesy to cancel it when you can't make it. Someone might want to sit in that spot.

As an A-Lister, I'm all for it. Its's better to kick out the handful of abusers, so they don't ruin this for the rest of us.
I used to love AMC A-list, but the AMC theaters in my area have all gone to shit. They're disgusting and the employees are horrible. I can't do it anymore.
AMC sending $8 to the studio regardless if you show up or not is not feasible in the long term
There goes the hack of having your partner get the seat next to you. So you don't have to sit next to anyone.
I have had A list pass since 2019/ if I can not make a show I always cancel it takes 3 seconds
I remember canceling some movie tickets due to work related commitments.
Thankfully Regal never punished me since I find another day to see the movie that I was supposed to watch on a different day.
You don’t get penalized for cancelling. You get penalized for *not showing up* to a movie reservation that you did *not* cancel.
Neither does AMC - it takes 2 seconds to cancel - this is about people who cant even be bothered to cancel & just don’t turn up
The work around is Print out all your tickets at the kiosk when your in the theater seeing a differnt movie. They cannot track if your ticket has been torn meaning they cannot track if you show up or not!
Says a lot about people who would put in the effort to do something like that.
Also let's say you didn't cancel the ticket. Cause In your mind it's not a big deal. But AMC can't sell that ticket to someone else. Cause they are expecting you are coming. I agree with the policy.
I sometimes make reservations, without attending. But pick front row seat. Mostly for disney/ marvel movies. To rack up disney movie rewards and fandango points. You get $5 on fandango for every 4 tickets purchased. That you can use for digital releases. I usually go to movies 3x month.
My local Alamo Cinema Drafhouse in Northern Virginia has a membership subscription for $19.99/month. It allows one movie ticket every day. It can also be used on $7.00/Tuesdays. When i go with a friend on Tuesdays, it costs us $3.50/each.
So, I understand the idea of this policy. But I am a Regal employee, and I can tell you that Regal Unlimited will automatically cancel your ticket if you don't scan in within 30 mins after the schedule start time. Maybe this is only a Regal thing since you can watch multiple movies a day each day of the week to help control costs.
policy makes perfect sense and always try to cancel if I can't make it anyway before hand becauseof wondering where the money goes haha.
I just wish they would let you cancel after showtime, cause thats when im most likely to need to cancel, the only times I haven't canceled was because the cancel button was literally missing for some reason after start time it disappears and that usually when I'm like ok i'm probably not going to make it to the theater in time, and then I go to cancel and I can't cancel..
Sounds like this won't be an issue if you cancel the actual reservation? That this is only aimed at people who make reservations, don't cancel or show up. I always cancel my reservations if I can't make it and do it often because plans change but I've only ever missed a reservation without scanning once and I think it was because I forgot.
I don’t think you are correct - I think AMC only pays for a ticket if you check in, but they would lose your seat that could have sold to someone else. (FYI I always cancel)
You hit the nail on the head. If one can't make it... just cancel the reservation. It couldn't be any easier to do. Personally, I would say, it makes absolutely no sense to not just open the app and cancel (Request Refund).
I don’t have A List. I would absolutely LOVE to get it because it would save me so much money, but unfortunately I don’t have any AMC theaters anywhere even remotely close to me (nearest one is well over an hour away).
Ouch, there has been a few times I have forgotten about a reservation (not often though) for the most part if I can't make it I just cancel it. But, something I did not think about is the time I am going to see more than 1 movie, I get the first movie scanned, but if I am already in the theater I rarely go back downstairs to get scanned for the second movie, never thought about the issue that was causing until seeing this.
The only way I don't cancel is if I over sleep
I would add a buy back option but ar full price on top of A-Ticket.

The AMC app is broken again. (To quote Paul Rudd's character in Anchorman, "60% of the time, it works everytime.") It's showing all of your cancelled reservations when it's not suppose to. I've been seeing this same issue pop up since 2019.
I’m only really go to amc. Never been to any other theaters. Had a regal in town but it closed 8-9 years ago but I still just went to the amc/rave at the time.

Regal is better cause they have no limits on the amount of shows per week
I like AMC better since Dolby Cinema and IMAX screens are included with no extra cost.

@@JMANB5Really? Regal doesn't include premium showings. If that's the case, AMC A-list is definitely better. I don't watch a new movie unless I can see it in IMAX, Dolby or at least Prime. Other than that I can wait for it at home.
I have Regal.. I think AMC's policy is dumb. A fair policy should simply be, if you don't show up your ticket just converts to a full price ticket and they charge you for the difference. The problem is, especially on peek times those no show seats are displacing other customers. It happens, I don't know how many times I have booked and there will always be a half dozen seats reserved and I find myself alone in the theater.
AMC a list is easily the best theater rewards program ever. If you no show a bunch of times you deserve to get your account cancelled. It’s super simple lol

From the movie goer's perspective, someone who cancels their reservation will free up their seat(s) so that those intending to go will have more seat options available.
I don't like AMC A List anymore. I never cancelled on them before but they have no problem cancelling me because there are more important bills to pay.
