Best Oscars ever so happy that EEAAO swept. It’s a once in a lifetime film. It was like every film lover collectively came together and recognized that this movie was the transportive experience of the year.
The BAFTAs were a reflection of British reserve and snobbery. There was no way they were going to give anything to an innovative, outrageous classic like EEAAO. The Oscars are miles ahead.
You know why the BAFTAs were irrelevant and the SAG wasn't this year. Because the SAG was the night before Oscar voting began. Never underestimate the power of momentum going straight into voting week.
We need to strongly look at and consider the idea that the reason the BAFTA's have been so good is because they are the last award usually, and this year they didn't have that advantage
I think the insane amount of social media chatter about EEAO also helped it massively in its long campaign run. The deluge of support on SM from fans must have had an effect. Same also for Aftersun and Paul Mescal’s nom. I think the argument about the Academy being out of touch with SM is no longer valid after this year’s results!
Warner was definitely the biggest flop of the season, they invested millions in Elvis' massive campaign in many categories for nothing lmfaoo💀 and thats what they deserve! if only they had focused on Austin's acting for Elvis and put The Batman as their representative and priority in tech categories.. maybe The Batman would do better with a good campaign like Elvis had! and ofc thank u guys for another great awards season with your predictions analysis and movie reviews🍷🗿
Congrats to you two on your successful predictions! To me Everything Bagel Hidden Buttplug was the most likely best picture candidate I saw all year. It wasn't my subjective favorite (that was Triangle of Sadness), but EEAAO hit all the necessary notes to be a serious contender, especially relative to the last few best picture winners. It was topically and culturally relevant, but most importantly it was fun and leaves the viewer with a good feeling.
“All the necessary notes” … what were these notes? And how were they superior in this film to the other 9? I have been searching for hard support on why this film was deemed the best, support from an external evaluation source to compare all films on the same basis, and I have found none. And no one seems to be able to explain it either. (And its wins in other competitions don’t count. Their evaluation tools should be different.) Any source I use, the film that won best picture should not have won. Can you please explain to me what these notes are that you used to bring out this film has the number one best picture of this last year in comparison to the rest of the contenders? I genuinely am searching for a non-biased evaluation tool to use to compare all the contenders where EEAAO comes out with the highest score as best pic. And another one for each of the other art forms on which it won.

Definitely the best Oscar’s in a while but wow the SAGS definitely did say something this year still shocked for Angela bassett but happy for the 4 acting wins and everything everywhere made history and A24 literally sweeped the whole night
The dumbest nomination prediction all season was people predicting Sadie Sink over Hong Chau because she has a „moment“ on a Netflix series. People overestimate the power of Netflix popularity lol. Heads up: Noah Centineo will not get an Oscar nom anytime soon.
I said it earlier this season, EEAO was going to win and the key was SAG. Notice how Paraiste, and CODA also got that massive push as well. A lot of people were reading too much with what happened at the BAFTA's.

Honestly, would've totally been okay with All Quiet winning Best Picture. Maverick, EEAAO, Fabelmans, All Quiet and Babylon are my five favorite narratives of the entire year -- but I finally watched AQ the day before the Oscars and was blown away. Incredible film
Finally, A24 is a force to be reckoned with. The 9 Oscars, especially the sweep of the acting categories, more than makes up for Uncut Gems being snubbed by the academy three years ago.
@@itsbeyondme5560 I have but none of the scores even come close. All Quiet is a second best of those 5 but has shit on Babylon’s score. Especially having played a lot of jazz as I was growing up it’s some of the best I’ve heard especially in the modern era of that genre.
Probably the Oscars EVER! I can't remember the last time I was this happy with any Oscar wins. Whilst I'm so happy that EEAAO swept, the best win for me is Michelle Yeoh 🍾🥳🎆 Now I can breathe 😊
Jamie Lee's win is a parent narrative like Laura Dern.. Jamie Lee's parents both got nominated in iconic film but never won.. they are nominated ones too.. Jamie would only be nominated once so that is why she won. Performance wise Stephanie is better, Narrative wise angela is better, Critics wise Kerry Condon is a better choice.
Yeah, glad you made this distinction. One could argue their acting quartet was better than the 4 the Oscars went with. BAFTA's have always done things the Oscars haven't - some better; some worse.
I mean let's not forget actually that the BAFTA's already nominated Michelle Yeoh for an acting award for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. They actually recognised her back when she was doing Asian-language movies - they didn't have to wait until she made an American movie to recognise her...

Me watching the Oscars: - I cheered up watching Guillermo del Toro winning - I ugly cried of joy with Ke Huy Quan - 🫤 when I saw Angela Bassett’s reaction. My pick was Stephanie Hsu. 😢 -jumped of joy for Sarah Polley . That script is monumental. - loved The Daniel’s speeches - screamed like crazy for Brendan ❤❤❤ - “yas yas Queen “ for Michelle Yeoh - Riri smashed it . What a performance ❤ -For a hot second I thought All Quiet was gonna win best Picture but EEOAO swept literally everything! - such a bummer for Elvis going empty handed😢😢
The problem with these kinds of sweeps is so many deserving films go empty-handed. Elvis, Tar, Banshees, Babylon, and even the Batman all deserve at least one award. I was thinking about LOTR movies, which only had 1 acting nomination, and no wins. If it came out today, would it be nominated for more acting awards and maybe a win? If EEAAO can win 3/4 acting categories (not all performances were deserving & even their best performance didn't win), then no one should disregard epic scifi/fantasy for acting noms again. Or are the acting noms only reserved for indie sci-fi/fantasy or when that singular performance is undeniably best in that year?
me neither and it is the only award i would have decided differently. and i would have nominated the batman in cinematography and nope as well. but very happy all in all for EEAAO
Angela and Jamie were probably at the bottom of my list even though I would have weirdly been happy with a win from either of them considering they are hollywood icons. Kerry Condon and Stephanie Hsu I felt were far more deserving for their performances. I would have given it to Kerry.
EEAAO made me fall in love with movies again. Can’t explain it. Cannot remember the last time I was this invested in a movie. EEAAO inspired me to watch the movies that inspired it. I gladly watched a few Kar-Wai Wong movies for the first time, among others. First time I’ve watched the Oscars in over 15 or so years (tbh, I can’t remember). Thanks…
When All Quiet had 4 wins I was wondering if it might actually upset EEAAO. There was a possibility All Quiet wins adapted, Banshees wins original, Top Gun wins editing, Cate Blanchett wins lead. Even if Daniels take director at that point it would have been very close and probably would have gone to All Quiet... Then EEAAO started winning and winning big. Screenplay, Editing, Lead . With Women Talking also winning screenplay All Quiet was out of the race. Who would have thought back in December that season favorites like The Fablemans, Elvis, Banshees, and Tar would all go home empty handed?

Personally, I take the JLC win as a bit of vindication for Hsu's erasure this season. That fact that Hsu should have swept everything from front to back, but was struggling because she was a newcomer. Then when Basset started leading, Hsu's chances was basically dead on the tracks. Tires slashed, engines sabotaged, it was practically rolling backwards. But then Basset's hype peaked a bit too early and there was no one there to catch the baton but Jamie Lee Curtis. It should have been a Williams v Hsu race with Hsu winning (please). But personally if it was between Basset and Curtis, I'm definitely picking Curtis. But oh well...

@@RVandergeld No, thanks. Glad you liked it, but I did not. Just disagreement. No need for insults and disparaging comments.
The BAFTAs were a reflection of British reserve and snobbery. There was no way they were going to give anything to an innovative, outrageous classic like EEAAO. The Oscars are miles ahead.
When Jamie Lee Curtis won, I knew it was OVER. There was no way she could have won without an "EEAAO" sweep.
Of course don't forget that Andrea Riseborough nomination!
You have to feel for Banshees... It definitely deserves atleast one award. I was hoping it was actor or supporting actress but alas!!
McDonagh has to win a screenplay award at some point. You don't get many better back-to-back screenplays than 3 Billboards followed by Banshees!
@@michaelangelo2192specially with such a horrible win last year
I'm so happy that All Quiet got all those wins.
The way EEAAO keeps the momentum since last March to this date. Big claps for the actors who marketed it.
Batman had to compete against other big-budget 'popcorn' pix like the Top Gun and Avatar sequels, tho.

I love that this was an unpredictable year and that a lot of critic favorites like Blanchett and Butler did not get the Oscar but I also liked that nearly every major nominee got some love from other awards throughout the season so that there was not a complete sweep of everything all awards season long
MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME WON A LOT 😭😭😭
The best wins are easily Michelle Yeoh and Brendan Fraser.
Great vids over the last year guys - get that 2024 predictions vid up soon 🙂
Was watching with you live, but still came back for this :)
Sadie Sink? That would have been laughable.
I said it earlier this season, EEAO was going to win and the key was SAG. Notice how Paraiste, and CODA also got that massive push as well. A lot of people were reading too much with what happened at the BAFTA's.
Steven Spielberg didn't just have the most accomplishments in the room, but also the most class.
Thank you both for your hard work this season. BTW you both look very sharp and love the new HAIR.
( Old lady here- have boys your age)
Good luck for all the upcoming
Festivals- SXSW, etc.
happy for EEAAO, just kinda wished TAR/Banshees/The Fabelmans won something :(
So glad you took the time to edit and upload your reactions this quickly ! Here's to another movie season!
The show was so much fun last week I had to watch this again just to reminisce!
You guys do a great post mortem too! Congrats on the $800
Honestly, would've totally been okay with All Quiet winning Best Picture. Maverick, EEAAO, Fabelmans, All Quiet and Babylon are my five favorite narratives of the entire year -- but I finally watched AQ the day before the Oscars and was blown away. Incredible film
hahaha i always love these 2 guys. its like watchig cocaine bear. only human. and no killings involve
I wonder if these guys watch any sports.
@@tml184 hahah oscars is our sportsfest. but would love them to see get excited when someone shoot the ball or someone wins a wrestling fight
I care more abt this than the actual Oscars
So happy for all the winners! Keep it up guys!!!!!
Finally, A24 is a force to be reckoned with. The 9 Oscars, especially the sweep of the acting categories, more than makes up for Uncut Gems being snubbed by the academy three years ago.
Your reactions are amazing 😂
Babylon losing score is as dumb as Green Book beating Roma that one year.
Have you watch the winner
@@itsbeyondme5560 I have but none of the scores even come close. All Quiet is a second best of those 5 but has shit on Babylon’s score. Especially having played a lot of jazz as I was growing up it’s some of the best I’ve heard especially in the modern era of that genre.
Probably the Oscars EVER! I can't remember the last time I was this happy with any Oscar wins. Whilst I'm so happy that EEAAO swept, the best win for me is Michelle Yeoh 🍾🥳🎆 Now I can breathe 😊
The Oscars ever!!!!!
Terrible Oscars. Out of the top 8 categories, I disagreed with 7 of them. Fraser was the only win I agreed with.
@@tonyg76 Cry harder wyt grandpa!!
Jamie winning for THIS performance will never sit right for me. But overall this was one of the best seasons in recent memory

Time for 2024 Oscar predictions
Watch out for Past Lives!
I love that film ❤
I’ve heard great things about it!
The academy were feeling sentimental with the voting this year for sure
I was so happy for EEAO. I didn't think it would get this far. I saw this cold when it came out. This is a leap forward n
already so excited for your 2024 oscar predictions!!
This was a pretty hype Oscars
The Baftas weren't "wrong" tho, they just made different choices
They are British
Yeah, glad you made this distinction. One could argue their acting quartet was better than the 4 the Oscars went with. BAFTA's have always done things the Oscars haven't - some better; some worse.
I mean let's not forget actually that the BAFTA's already nominated Michelle Yeoh for an acting award for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. They actually recognised her back when she was doing Asian-language movies - they didn't have to wait until she made an American movie to recognise her...
As for now, the BAFTA's mean shit. I'm glad they do.
@@michaelangelo2192 what about original song category , they didn't even nominated RRR ( maybe the Brits got their ass burned watching it)
RRR freaking won every award for original songs ( golden globe, HCA,oscars n more)

Or another unexpected A24 film!
THE MENU needs to be in the In Memoriam! XD

also Ezra Miller‘s career
Great job! Love these videos. ❤Now we’ll have to wait a couple of months to return to Oscar Season 😢
Me watching the Oscars:
- I cheered up watching Guillermo del Toro winning
- I ugly cried of joy with Ke Huy Quan
- 🫤 when I saw Angela Bassett’s reaction. My pick was Stephanie Hsu. 😢
-jumped of joy for Sarah Polley . That script is monumental.
- loved The Daniel’s speeches
- screamed like crazy for Brendan ❤❤❤
- “yas yas Queen “ for Michelle Yeoh
- Riri smashed it . What a performance ❤
-For a hot second I thought All Quiet was gonna win best Picture but EEOAO swept literally everything!
- such a bummer for Elvis going empty handed😢😢
It was a great oscars, but Elvis was a bad movie.
My thoughts exactly on almost every account
@@shadysorkin9214 yes it was , certainly among nominations
I knew in the end Everything Everywhere was going to win Best Picture but I wasn't expecting Jamie to win Supporting Actress instead of Angela.
me neither and it is the only award i would have decided differently. and i would have nominated the batman in cinematography and nope as well. but very happy all in all for EEAAO
Angela and Jamie were probably at the bottom of my list even though I would have weirdly been happy with a win from either of them considering they are hollywood icons. Kerry Condon and Stephanie Hsu I felt were far more deserving for their performances. I would have given it to Kerry.
@@shadysorkin9214 yes that was a tough category :)
There was another push this year to reward a film with Asians in it.
Angela had no chance when she lost bafta to kerry them lost again to Jamie in sag
Thanks…
Thanks for your videos! You really keep us up to date on what films to watch.
Love you, guys. Love your channel.
This reaction video made me so happy!!
The last time I was this hyped was when Parasite won 🎉 kudos to Yoeh and EEAAO
When The Whale won makeup I knew Brendan was about to win Actor because the main reason Elvis was winning makeup was also because it was winning Actor so when it lost makeup, I knew it was Brendans time
watched you live yesterday; I'm the one who told everyone to hit the "like" button !
It's rare but The Eyes of Tammy Faye and Le Vien Rose also got best actor/actress with make up/hair with NO best picture nomination.
The Iron Lady also
But Best Actress nominees/winners less often have a Best Picture nomination than Best Actor.
That’s what I was thinking too. The makeup/acting win is also just a common occurrence (darkest hour)
I don't care what people have to say about The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse I LOVE IT. Maybe it did or didn't need to win the Oscar, but it got me through my father's funeral this weekend, and even before that I loved it so stop complaining, if it didn't win I be fine so don't complain that it did.
Now Oscars are being given considering narrative and emotional speeches.
They always have. And it’s a lot better than Harvey Weinstein’s sleezy campaign tactics.
Best Oscar since 2020

Y’all know Austin Butler’s voice immediately went up an octave when Brendan won. Excited to never hear that voice from him again.

so people, help me if you have other ones! All the stats broken:
- Supporting actress sole win for a movie (a stat since 2015)
- Actor in a leading role with a best picture nomination win (a stat since 2010)
- 6 above-the-line wins for a movie (like NEVER HAPPENED?)
- three acting wins (didn't happen since 1977, and only 1952 more)
what's more
All of the acting winners are first time nominees, not sure if that's a stat though? Looking back through the 2020s and 2010s it doesn't seem to have been the case...

It's funny how quickly your prediction about Ben Shapiro came true, about him complaining about EEAAO winning a lot and Top Gun winning little. And he did blame wokeness on the sweep, and said that no one will be watching it 5 years from now. Weird, how accurate you were.
How do you know that no one will be watching it in 5 years? Just curious.
This newcomer narrative is lame. Many young first timers have won in recent years against veterans.
People butthurt over Hsu while I am thinking Nina Hoss didn’t even get any major nomination for Tár.
Michelle Williams should have been in the Supporting Actress race...
Just last year 2 newcomers swept the supporting categories. I don’t think that’s a good excuse for her.
3 acting awards winning is insane
I really can’t believe the Babylon disrespect.
I'm overjoyed for EEAAO's sweep!
I'm devastated that Banshees & TÁR got nothing.
This was definitely the year for blockbusters at the oscars

Loved the night. Parasite, CODA, and EEAAO being best picture winners proves the award voting is changing and I love it
CODA proves anything? :) It's rather a winner from the 80s or the 90s, very conservative and extremely uninteresting - one of the worst winners ever. But "EEAAO" is great so good for them.
@@bn5271 I could not disagree more. Like Parasite, CODA was a film that required audiences to read subtitles which is something that turns lots of people away. I think the premise aside from a deaf family is just a simple coming of age movie, but it has great heart and soul with a spectacular cast
