I wish they followed the book. The story between Hannibal and Clarice ends completely different and more beautiful in my opinion. She finally analyzed him and gave him peace.
+pavle vivec SPOILER: Hannibal couldn't live beyond what happened to his sister Mischa. In that short chapter in the book he told Clarice: "And so I came to believe that there had to be a place in the world for Mischa, a prime place vacated for her. And the best place in the world was yours". Clarice realized that he is denying himself to live and have a female companion in life (Clarice) because he feels obligated toward Mischa, so he stopped himself from looking at Clarice as he would have if Mischa was alive, instead he treats Clarice as a sister, he supports her, he protects her and look after her. In a previous analysis of Clarice, Hannibal told her that there is room in her for her dead father to live thru her incorruptibility & integrity, so why can't there be a room in him for Mischa? "She and I could be like sisters" Clarice told him. So she confronted him and offered him an idea, that Mischa could live in him instead of finding a living host for her. Finally, she remembered something he said to the senator from Silence of the Lambs and compared it to what's he doing to himself and offered him a place in her life but not as he intended (a big brother or a father) but rather as a man which he's been denying himself all along from the moment he met Clarice and felt attracted to her.
I always think he just chopped his thumb off to slide the cuffs off, and reattached his thumb, or cut the chain off and use a sling to hide the cuffs when boarding the plane.

Anthony Hopkins is a Top 10 actor of all time in my opinion. But his role of Hannibal Lector in both films was ASTONISHING! Even more so in the Hannibal film! Two and a half thumbs up
He *DOES* love her. In all of the books, (and the tv show, which shows it more plainly) Hannibal is obsessed with and "loves" unusual things. Great art, great architecture, music, intelligence (in people and animals) . His love for Clarice starts in that he sees something in her he finds unusual; her honesty, her courage, her persistence. Then he comes to genuinely love her , because she "sees" him. Really , truly sees him.
Well some people have that fantasy but not all people want the fantasy to happen. I wouldn't worry about it unless you feel compelled to play the part of Clarice.
Remember earlier at the Opera? "Can a man become so obsessed with a woman, from a single encounter?" HL - Can a man feel daily a stab of hunger and find nourishment in the very sight of her I think so, but could she see past the bars of his plight and ache for him? He loves her for what she has HL - courage and incorruptibility. He would never harm her, even if she is trying to take away his freedom.
What and interesting scene, captures their relationship, both messed up and romantic. I would love to read the books, they are usually so much better than the films, the characters are explored deeper.
They are very extremely different. I think the movies are actually better. Imagine this scene ending with both of them eating krendlers brain, Clarice saying she'll try to be more like Hannibal's long dead sister, them having sex, and then leaving together. Thats the book. weird huh. My favorite part of the scene is the contrast between him implying he is proud of her for not abandoning her determination with "thats my girl", but right before he chops his own hand off he cries a single tear. Thats all Hopkins
***** I feel like Harris really went off the rails with the whole plot about Mason; it makes Lecter's actions out to be somehow justified by introducing someone worse than him. Totally against the character from Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs.
***** Mason was very good as a villain-you couldn't wait to see him get what was coming to him. But that's precisely why I feel it ruined the concept of Lecter's character; he's not supposed to be a "good guy," and you aren't supposed to root for him.
I love the drop of sweat from his brow at 1:58. Its almost like a silent nod. I actually think this was better than the first one, Hannibal Lecter is much more fun when he's not in a prison cell.
Hannibal Lector's eyes are maroon. And this is not how it ends in the book. Book is way better than the movie, but Hopkins was something else! Oh my God!
If you want to read the book, I shouldn't tell you - it will ruin it for you. It's an ending difficult to digest from only watching the movies. It will only make sense when you understand it in the context of both "Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal"....
+M. Luisa M. The director asked are you married to the ending the author said no and the director them asked his permission to write this ending and he liked it . I'm not spoiling
Scully818 Oh wow. Lol That's daring. I saw that there was an alternative ending that ends in a different way. He does the same thing up until the kiss. He kisses her and she doesn't handcuff him to herself. So he says "Bye." and leaves. Search it up. The video is titled "Hannibal Alternate Kiss".
here lemme spoil u haha. i watched both hannibal and silence of lambs and i felt quite... fell off ground. i mean open ending like this is good but, i just want hannibal and clarice going on together
I love these two. Both have show that love can overcome the imaginable. The "moster" He still loves, the perfect Clarice who can not think of anything other than him. Surely I would have preferred a different finish, in addition to the gesture of the hand that is of a unique sweetness she would have to run with him. But their love will never end ❤
If there was a love button I would push it. But there is only a like button, so I'm just gonna sit in a corner and cry over these feelings now. Thanks.
this portrays true love and true love is self sacrificing. maybe not always to this extent, but this shows that if you love someone, you well do what is in their best interest.
They asked her to return. She refused. They most certainly did not want to replace Jodie Foster. But more than that, they did not want to replace or kill off the character of Clarice.
Jodie Foster felt this version of Hannibal was MUCH TOO VIOLENT for her taste that was her reason for turning down the role that got her a 2nd Oscar. My question to her would have been what did she think it was going to be about.
Not that I have tried it, but I highly doubt you would be able to cut through the chain of hand cuffs with a cleaver. Bone is not that though, its consistency is more like that of hard wood. Plus a wooden table, or even the thin sheet metal fridge, is not a suitable base layer either, the chain would mostly subside into the weaker material, making it very hard to cut through the chain.
So basically the character Hannibal is flawed. Fuck me why not just base this character on a real life cannibal rather than go through Hollywoods bullshit checklist
Anthony Hopkins has said he wrote a screenplay for a third film, where Clarice finds Hannibal once again and is forced to kill him. It's a crime that we'll probably never get to see it.

Thats all Hopkins
smwest95 WOW, that's twisted, I probably would read the books just out of curiosity.
But that's precisely why I feel it ruined the concept of Lecter's character; he's not supposed to be a "good guy," and you aren't supposed to root for him.
ladynottingham89 According to the book HANNIBAL SHE WAS TURNED INTO A CANNIBAL by him!!!!!!!!
I love the drop of sweat from his brow at 1:58. Its almost like a silent nod.
I actually think this was better than the first one, Hannibal Lecter is much more fun when he's not in a prison cell.
Anthony Hopkins - awesome...
...this is really gonna hurt...
MrAnderson1985 i
One of the most intense scenes in motion picture history.....just wow 😭😍
I always liked this scene
This is really perfect scene
Around 1:55 you can see a tear drop from his right eye.
Is it? It looks like it dripped from above his eye. Doesn't a tear drip down below the eye?
Looked more like sweat
Is it just me or is he hot af?
Loreley Wuest he is 😻
Omg sameeee
Always has always will
It's his voice, among.......other things.
You girls are weird
Anthony Hopkins gran actor
This is still my best movie .
Best Actor and Actress ❤💯💯🔥🔥
November 2019 anyone?
2021 still here
In the book, they become lovers, and they run off together.
He´s so thristy of her, deeply inside.
Hannibal Lector's eyes are maroon. And this is not how it ends in the book. Book is way better than the movie, but Hopkins was something else! Oh my God!
Hiw does it end in the book??? 😯
The video is titled "Hannibal Alternate Kiss".
here lemme spoil u haha. i watched both hannibal and silence of lambs and i felt quite... fell off ground. i mean open ending like this is good but, i just want hannibal and clarice going on together
this is true love he loved her he was in love with her he could not hurt her
I love these two. Both have show that love can overcome the imaginable. The "moster" He still loves, the perfect Clarice who can not think of anything other than him. Surely I would have preferred a different finish, in addition to the gesture of the hand that is of a unique sweetness she would have to run with him. But their love will never end ❤
In the book, they did runaway together to Argentina I believe and became lovers.
If there was a love button I would push it. But there is only a like button, so I'm just gonna sit in a corner and cry over these feelings now. Thanks.
I gotta admit, when they didn't run away together in the movie, it made me sad.
this portrays true love and true love is self sacrificing. maybe not always to this extent, but this shows that if you love someone, you well do what is in their best interest.
I love how Dr. Lector just throws the rag over the guys head 😂😂😂
They never should've replaced Jodie foster!!
u r right
They asked her to return. She refused. They most certainly did not want to replace Jodie Foster. But more than that, they did not want to replace or kill off the character of Clarice.
Rachel Dietrich oooh so its a follow up from the silence of the lambs
SHE DID NOT WANT THE ROLE
Jodie Foster felt this version of Hannibal was MUCH TOO VIOLENT for her taste that was her reason for turning down the role that got her a 2nd Oscar. My question to her would have been what did she think it was going to be about.
I wish I was Clarice. This scene is sooo romantic!
ykturner yeah, I particularly love the part about the guy with his brain showing, and him chopping off one of her limbs
@@dudethmcgraff7627 That's not what he did.
Its not romantic. It's sadistic.
YAAAAS,SAME
Clarice and Hannibal... a history of lov?
I lov this movie...
I never understood why he didn't just cut the chain. I mean if the cleaver could cut through bone it could cut through metal at well.
^Exactly. What Jack said.
Jack White it would also Nik up the blade same awful
batjoker12
He likes meat,,,
Jack shut up. No one cares
1:07 “That's my girl”
This man is the only Hannibal that I accept. Everyone else is just Fail. Anthony was born for this character. Just sublime
Lets give this man a hand for his efforts. Great Job Dr. Lecter
This scene is my favorite🥰
I love this movie to no end...
lecter:“the world wouldnt be interesting without u in it”
wish to meet a passionate man like him
You're confusing passion with psychopathy
me too omg
i just watched it and when i saw this scene, i'm addicted. Shippp❤
love anthony hopkins.
I like the book ending better. They really had no one else but each other so far as admiration and emotional intimacy.
I'M IN LOVE WITH.....WITH IDK, WITH THEIR LOVE STORY !!!!!😍😍😍😍
Man, if they had only filmed the book ending...
I love the soundtrack to this movie
if Hopkins did this movie when he was in his late thirties, this would be a truly epic scene.
+Those Russkies the age doesn't matter,HE'S EPIC in every way and at any age :D
mjfreaklove um no, it does matter, as far as love scenes are concerned anyway.
Thanks for setting a horror story in your own world
The music is so great here.
I've said for years that Hannibal is the greatest love story of our time. People usually think I'm kidding. I'm not.
Gosh I love this scene so much, perfect love scene ever. :)
A cannibal gave up his own hand.. Now thats what true love is.
لم أحب يوما التطفل على أعمالي الخاصة .
من التطفل ما قتل .
"Actually, I'm vegan"
I don't like how no one is talking about the Anthony Hopkins handsomeness
Um, didn't he pick the lock of the handcuffs behind his back in less than a minute in Silence of the Lambs??
because movie... its so dumb just turn that part of the movie off and scream the end works for me.
There isn't one within his reach.
Ready when you are, Sergeant Pembry.
In that part of the movie hes got the key!
SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT
He is in love with her, even the monster has a heart and cannot bring himself to hurt her.
One of my favourite movie!!!!
i still wonder why he chopped his own hand off and not hers
+Dnbray Because deep down he knows he could never find it in him to do her any harm.
+Dnbray he loves her
+Chase Koger uh, yes, actually he did.
Jess Burns I didn't see the rest of it. My apologies
I've watched this scene about 100 time . And i never become bored. And mamma mia! I've fallen for a cannibal! Seriously!!😶😶
This movie is a true masterpiece !!! 😍😍😍
This movie was perfect, but as much as I love Moore, Foster *is* Clarice. They shouldn't have gone on without her.
They asked her, but she refused:(
Wellington Heartbreaking. Jodie Foster should have returned. She'd have done wonderfully.
Wellington yes he ask her
Tremendous actor Sir Anthony
This is my favourite scene. I wish my boyfriend would trap my ponytail in the fridge like that
So you can call the cops on him for domestic abuse? No way!
@@edwardgaines6561 Clueless 🤦♀️
